We recently had about 2000 square feet of our flooring replaced t engineered wood (all previously carpet) by Mikes Carpet & Flooring and we could not be more impressed! From the first interaction when we walked into their store to the final minute of installation, everybody who we interacted with was professional, knowledgeable, kind, and hard-working. They worked around our budge and helped us choose wood floors. The installers started at 8:00 and worked straight until early evening. Installation took 3 days. They floor was floating floor and installed new baseboards. They helped us move furniture. Floors look great!
We purchased carpet and laminate flooring. Very impressed with how they met our needs on install time and ordering the material. One week notice they were able to accommodate our schedule without issue. We had two crews. One for laminate and one for carpet. Both were fantastic!
The service was exceptional and would highly recommended them.
Highly Recommend for carpet installation and lino. Very for a competitive pricing. I shopped around at few store and by far Mike's Carpet had the best price and exceptional customer service. We had a in home estimate by Mike. Following week we had the install. We did not have to wait for the products cause they had a lot in stock and a lot of colors to choose from. I would use Mike's Carpet again and any of flooring service.
I could not be happier with the service of Mike's Carpet & Flooring. The rep that came out for the estimate was knowledgeable and in no way pushy at all. He even helped us pick a laminate color for our home. The communication from the rep, as well as the office was excellent. They are a great company with good prices, great materials, and excellent customer service. I would highly recommend them, and plan to use them again in the future.
I enjoy shopping at and dealing with Mike's Carpet & Flooring. . From the moment you walk in the door and are greeted with a friendly welcome to the time you leave and an employee helps you load your vehicle, the shopping experience is memorable and the saving are huge
Really all 5 star service.... and great prices!
Long overdue review. Came here this past summer to pick out laminate and carpet for our living room and bedrooms. I was greeted immediately and the staff was very helpful. I told them my budget and they helped me find the flooring the fit my budget. I went to 4 different tile stores in the area and found them to be the cheapest with the same quality flooring. I had a estimate done by Mike and within a week installation began! Installers were great to work with. Definitely will go back!
Awesome Job! Highly quality service. We found Mike's Carpet & Flooring on the internet and very happy that we did. They had the best price and a large selection of wood. We purchased and hired them to install engineered wood in our new condo. Reza the installer did a fabulous job. He is very talented. He paid attention to small details and was very patient with us. All of Mike's Carpet employees were a pleasure to work with. Very professional and knowledgeable
Mikes Carpet & flooring was great! The made our remodel very easy. They helped us out with the whole process. We walked in to the showroom and Kelly helped us out and explained all the steps and different option of flooring. We decided on carpet in the bedrooms and Engineered wood in the living room and kitchen. We also got a in home estimate from Mike. He visit our home, measured and spent some time with us and explained the process as this was the first time of changing our floors. There was so much to know. Mike is very knowledgeable and explained everything. We didn't know we would need to take out the baseboard so we decied to get new ones instead. The installers were great. Showed up on time. We had a crew for carpet. We did the carpet first then the engineered wood. Carpet took one day and the engineered wood took two days. Thank you to Mikes carpet & Flooring for all the hard work. Money well spent. Highly recommend
I went into the store and was blown away by the wonderful help I received. I will never shop anywhere else other than Mike's Carpet and Flooring. I went into this store looking for quote on carpet. My cats tore up carpet in the home that I was renting and when my lease was up in the home, I had to replace the carpet. I shopped around for weeks looking for the right deal. I didn't want to invest too much money as I was not planning to stay. They helped match carpet almost identical to what was there previously and they also get me a wonderful deal. I am very happy!
Very speedy turnaround, excellent service, and excellent craftsmanship.
We compared Mike's Carpet & Flooring to three other flooring companies and by far Mikes Carpet & Flooring had the best price with the same quality of flooring.
The receptionist Kelly, Mike and the installers , showed extreme patience and understood that this is an investment that requires consideration. They worked with us though every step and answered all our questions. I would definitely use Mike's carpet & Flooring and definitely recommend them
We were in desperate need to change our floors before the holidays as family was coming to stay over for the holidays but we couldn't spend too much money. We search the internet and found that Mikes flooring had a great promotion on high quality laminate flooring. We contact them. The receptionist Kelly is very friendly, knowledgeable answered all of our questions. She took our information and passed it our to Mike for the in home estimate. Mike called the next day and booked the estimate the same day. He is pleasant to talk to you. He brought samples out for us to look at. We explained the situation we are in. He understood and booked us in for the installation 4 days after the estimate. The installer were also a pleasure to work with. They worked in a timely manner. We had them remove the old carpet, install new laminate and install new baseboard and transition. We did not run in any problems. Our floors look very good. Can wait to show them off to our family. And the best part is that we save a lot of money by going with Mikes Carpet & Flooring. We highly recommend Mike's Carpet & Flooring
Mikes flooring supplied and installed engineered wood in our home. hey walked us through the entire process and helped us work out the materials that would best meet our needs.
The job was scheduled as soon as we made the deposit so we did not have to wait weeks to get an installation date. The installation team was professional, friendly and efficient.
I would highly recommend him to anybody else.
I say yes to Mikes Carpet & Flooring because they had the best price, exceptional customer service. I had been doing research and checkout at least 10 stores. I was extremely impressed with Mikes Carpet & flooring customer service and price. At first I wanted to install engineered wood through out the house but I have two dogs and three kids. I changed my mind because Kelly from Mikes Carpet had advised me that engineered wood floor would scratch easily and laminate is more durable. The laminate selection they had looked so real - I could not tell the difference and it was cheaper in price which saved me a lot of money. Almost half of my budget. This gave me room to spend on other areas in the house. I decided to paint the house which turned out perfect because Mikes Carpet & Flooring provides painting service. On the flooring installation day the installers came on the time that I was given and was eager to work. I left the house to give them space but I did come back in between to check up how things were going and asked if they need anything. Sadik the installer was a pleasure to work with - very hard worker and a professional installer. In the quote that I received I did not have moving furniture because I was planning on doing it myself to save money but I was unable to move all the furniture. Sadki helped me out to move the furniture without any complaint that I did not have the place ready. Him and his helper finished the installation in one day.
The painting started two days after the flooring installation. Sam the painter was also a hard worker and a perfectionist. I am very happy with the service that I received. I recommend Mikes Carpet & Flooring to anyone that needs professional work done. They are honest with the work that they do. They follow the contract and there were no surprises. Most importantly my home looks beautiful! Thanks to all of Mikes Carpet & flooring to have made this process easier for me and my family.
Choosing Mikes Carpet & Flooring was a easy choice for us to hire them because they were knowlegable, answered any questions we had which made feel good. Another reason was that they had the best price by far. The installation date ran smoothly. Installers worked really hard. Our carpet feels and looks good!
Mikes Carpet & Flooring is the best flooring company - I had a wonderful experience with them. I decided to go with Mikes Carpet & Flooring because number one they were specific with what they do. Everything is in writing and very clear so there were no surprises. Number two they had a good deal on laminate flooring and number three - when Mike did the in home estimate he took his time, was knowledgeable so I feel very comfortable. Laminate flooring installation took one day. Looks awesome!.

I will normally only write a review on a company when I’ve had a spectacular experience or an absolutely horrible one. This unfortunately, was the latter. There is unfortunately nothing I can do at this point to resolve what I’ve had to endure so I wanted to let everyone know about Mike’s Carpet & Flooring and how they can potentially screw you, get away with it and not seem to care. My wife and I decided to go with Mike’s after getting a couple of quotes from other companies. Mike’s pricing was very good and they had a good selection of laminate flooring in their store. We were looking into getting our main floor (kitchen, dining, living room) covered in new laminate. We picked out some samples and took them home. We decided on one and contacted Mike’s to let them know we wanted to go ahead with the work. Mike came over personally a couple of days later to give us a quote on the spot and laid out costs for everything on the estimate. We were looking to save costs and Mike let us know we could rip up the existing carpet, laminate and baseboards ourselves. We agreed on that and set an install date. Mike told us to move everything from the room to one side so the workers could start the work when they got there. We would then move it back to the other side of the room so they could do the other side. Everything was all good at this point… then I gave them my money for the deposit and it went downhill from there.
Before the install I inquired about letting the laminate acclimate to our home prior to install. Googling this told me it’s a very good idea to do prior to install. I was told by Mike’s that they “do not acclimate their laminate” and they left it at that. They would bring the laminate with them on install day. I figured they do this all the time and get high reviews so maybe it’s not an issue. I ripped up the existing carpet, laminate and all the staples and nails from the floors. My wife and I then moved all the furniture in both rooms to one side as instructed.
Saturday was install day and they showed up right on schedule. The 2 guys who showed up to install the floor I had never seen or talked to. I guess they were contracted to do the work. One guy was esl but spoke enough English, the second guy did not speak a word. I didn’t think I would have to talk to them as normally people go out for the day during an install so I wasn’t too concerned about it.
The guys come up the stairs to the living room (with their shoes on) and immediately told me that my place wasn’t prepped to start as they were told by Mike. I was told that everything must be moved completely out of the room first, not to one side as Mike had originally told us. I explained this and the guy apparently called Mike to discuss, no answer. He told me he’s not starting until it’s ready so at 8am I had to get my wife out of bed, handle my 1yr old boy and move couches, tables and entertainment cabinets and wiring while the installers sat outside doing nothing. We got it ready to go not having a good feeling about how the day started. The guys came back in and immediately got to work demolishing the stair lips that come down into our sunken living room. Wood chips and dust flying all over the place and literally some would fly within 1 foot of our face while we were 10 feet away in the kitchen. No warning, no apology, no safety glasses. I went upstairs to vent to my wife for 5minutes when I was called downstairs to ask who’s moving the kitchen stove and fridge. I told them I was and had a dolly to use. They asked me how I was going to move it down into the living room myself and I told them again Mike said I could move it across the room, not totally out. They didn’t like this answer but continued working. At this point they were cutting laminate out on our deck and dust, wood chips were starting to COVER the living room. I checked the stairs from the entrance and sure enough they were covered and the guys still wearing their shoes. I had to go grab some new bedding sheets to cover the stairs as the workers did not care at all about covering them in filth. Throughout the day little things like this went on but they did work pretty fast. My wife went out to grab us lunch and bought the workers some Timbits as we didn’t see them eat for 5hrs. She gave them the food, no thanks ad they didn’t seem interested at all. They did however ask for coffee and water and I got for them. I told my wife to take my son out for a few hours due to the dust and noise and my son was going to nap soon. They finished the floors a couple hours later, took about 7 hours. I was told to look around to see the work completed. The entire main floor (about 700 sq. ft) was completely covered in dust. The walls, counters, floors, all furniture and all my sons’ toys (literally all coated in dust). I wish they had brought a tarp or warned me about this as it took about 6 hours to completely clean and wipe it down afterwards. I noticed a couple spots where the base molding wouldn’t fit now that the floors were a little higher (we chose 12mm laminate). They wouldn’t fit because the baby gates were installed in the way. They told me to take them off and I asked if they could just cut them with their saw and I would re-paint after. Not an option. They installed them over the plastic on the gate so the molding stuck out 1/2cm in that one spot. Not a huge deal but an annoyance. They also hadn’t re-installed the door molding that went down to the floors originally. I asked why and they said their contract said only baseboard molding to be put back on, nothing else. I told them I included the lengths of door molding in the quote and was charged for that 40 feet of molding for the 3 doors. He told me he wasn’t putting them back on and to talk to Mike. Again, no answer when we called. These moldings are the exact same wood as the baseboards but go vertically instead of along the floor so how hard could it be for them to nailgun those too? They said I should have never taken them off. I told them that they were touching the floor like the baseboard so why wouldn’t I have to remove them too? He said he would have cut them at the bottom to fit. Oh really? You won’t cut the baseboard for around the baby gate but you would cut 6 moldings on the doors? He absolutely refused to do the work and at this point I wanted them gone so I said I’d take it up with Mike later and I wasn’t happy. Everything else seemed ok and they left.
A couple hours later after wiping off everything above the floors we began to wipe down the floors. I came to notice that there were 4 areas on the floor only in the living room that had slightly “bubbled” where the laminate panels met. I immediately took pics of these and wasn’t happy. I emailed Mike’s and told them about our not so great experience and that I wanted $ back from the over estimate on the door moldings. I had to send another email and waited 4 days to hear back from them (they are open 7 days a week). I was credited with my money back for the door molding and was told Mike would call me to discuss the bubbling issue. He called a few days later while I was at work and left me a message. He apologized and said that the damage to the floors was due to water most likely. He said he would come over to look at it though. This was puzzling as it hadn’t rained prior, during or after the install. The damaged floors were at least 15 feet from the sink in our home and not one drink was brought into the living room. How this was water damage is beyond me. I called Mike back, no answer. I left him a message saying there’s no way that it is water and most likely poor install and/or not letting the laminate acclimate prior to the work. 5 hours later I called again when I got home from work, no answer. This time I chose to leave my # so either way he’d know I contacted him back. A few days went by and no call again so I emailed them letting them know this is not an acceptable business practice and I want the floor fixed or credited with money and I would get someone else to do or I would attempt it. No answer. I then went to the BBB and filed a complaint. This went back and forth for weeks. I informed them of the situation and that all I want is the work done right, that’s it. Mike’s kept coming back to them saying that it’s water damage and everything was done as quoted. How does he know this when he’s never come to see the work done? Telepathy? BBB gave me the option to pay $250 for an arbitrator and a mediator and they would listen to my case. To have to pay $250 to get 1hr of work re-done is ridiculous especially when I paid over $2500 in the first place for the work that wasn’t done right.
At this point the work was done over 6 weeks ago and still no resolve so I am writing this to warn anyone considering dealing with the snake that is Mike of Mike’s Carpet and Flooring. They can basically screw you, not own up to it and then the customer is forced to take legal action in order to get work done that should have been done in the first place. It’s a hundred here, a hundred there and Mike’s will end up not honoring their work and you will be out money and/or time of your own to deal with it. This was by far the absolute worst customer experience I’ve ever received in my life. PLEASE take this review seriously and don’t get taken for a ride like I did. I see other reviews where Mike’s replies back about the reviewer being fake or a scammer or not a real customer. Well, I unfortunately am. If they decide to write ANYTHING back under this review take it as false on their behalf. I haven’t received any correspondence from them in over a month and my floor still isn’t fixed. I have put the moldings back on my own. Not hard work but when I pay to get it done I expect it to get done. Be warned! I see they get much praise everywhere so maybe I’m the odd case but I expect if there’s a problem that a company would want to resolve it to avoid reviews like mine. I should have checked their BBB rating too before hiring them, that’s my bad.
Our carpet in the bedroom was 10 years old. It was ugly and looked old. For about two years we have been wanting to change the carpet but with three kids we couldn't afford until I searched on the net and I found Mikes Carpet and flooring had a promotion for carpet $2.00sqft installed. The carpet was stain proof and had great warranty. I knew I was getting a good deal specially after I visited the showroom and took samples of the carpet home. The installation took one day! I have Service! Good Price! Its great that there is a website like this so I can share my experience. Thanks for Mikes Carpet & flooring
Short version: We had laminate installed on May 27th, and are still fighting with this company to date.
Mike's flooring didn't do a proper pre-install check of our premises, even when invited to do so by us (the customers). We had holes in our carpet, and when they came to do the estimate, we invited them to take a look at the carpet -- and they declined.
They arrived on May 27th to do the install. I stayed out of the installers way in another room while they worked. At no point did anyone ever come to me and discuss any problems with me. By the time they came and got me, the floor was already down.
What really happened though? They ripped and cut up all our carpet without a single check or a single thought, and only THEN realized the sub-floor was terribly uneven. Instead of informing us the sub-floor was uneven and asking us what we wanted to do, they secretly called Mike from Mike's Floors and told him (not us), and he advised them to install the floors anyway.. so they installed the laminate on the sub-floor anyway without our informed consent.
We now have floors that are bouncing and buckling and will most likely eventually break at the joints (the installers themselves even said it would happen). Mike's Flooring keeps skirting responsibility for this problem despite repeated attempts to work out a resolution with them.
Mike's Flooring keeps saying we signed a contract stating they are not responsible for leveling but we are not holding this company responsible for leveling. Just the opposite, in fact. We are holding them responsible for having installed the proper product based on the state of the sub-floor, in addition to getting the customer's consent. We are holding them responsible for weak tactics and faulty business practices since they failed to do so. Had they properly inspected the floors, we would never have installed laminate to begin with, we would have left carpet in our unit or had Mike's Floor install Carpet, not laminate.
Once they found out we were upset, they tried to pacify us by saying they would take up the floor and we could "pay $5,000 to level the floor". So essentially, they did the job and then held us hostage after-the-fact if we wanted the job done "right".
In addition, we found out there there are additional ways to deal with uneven subfloor if that is your only choice when installing laminate, including shimming the floor so the laminate at least doesn't bounce and finally break. This is something we learned after by consulting with additional professionals.
Everyone we've spoken to has stated that Mike's Flooring has moved forward in bad faith, bad business practice, and bad contracting. We are unsatisfied customers who feel cheated and neglected. We are looking for a written guarantee that they stand behind the installation they did without our informed consent, to which they have been consistently resisting.
We are in the process of a Better Business Bureau complaint against this company.

Long version:
-------------------------------------------
We had new laminate flooring installed on May 27th, 2013.
Installers came to our unit in the morning, and due to the size of the apartment, I was confined to a small bedroom with our dogs to make sure they didn't cause any trouble, as well as all of our furniture was in the two bedrooms (carpet stayed in the bedrooms).
We stayed out of the installers’ way the entire time and were only brought out to view the process of the flooring at the stage where about 95% of the flooring was already down. It looked OK at first glance but was covered in dirt and debris, so I returned to the bedroom to wait out the process with our dogs.
At the end when all the flooring was down, we were told they could not install one of the transitions (into the bathroom) because the door would not close with it in. I was incredibly frustrated and confused, as no one had told us prior that there could be issues with our doors.
Mike (of Mike's Flooring) had done our estimate. He did not check door clearance issues; he did not examine the floor beneath the carpet either. Nothing was done other than wall-to-wall measurements. During the estimate process, I told Mike that he may examine the flooring beneath the carpet as there were several holes and torn up pieces (damaged by our dogs) for him to take a look. He declined, in the presence of my husband who also recalls him declining to examine the flooring underneath the carpet.
We found this strange, as I would assume he would have wanted to see what was underneath, but we took them to be the professionals and not us, so we went along with his plans. We also asked them by email after the estimate was complete if the carpet removal costs that we paid for were going to cover the removal of the linoleum in the kitchen as well, to which we were told they didn't have to remove the linoleum. Again, they're the professionals not me, so we left it at that.
Moving forward, the fact that the door would not clear the transition was very frustrating for me in that moment as we had absolutely no way of fixing it, and there was a strip of the bathroom floor gone in the meantime where the transition should be. We were left to figure out a way to ourselves to shorten the door, with little advice from the contracted installers about the door itself (one of whom seemed to speak little to no English, the other spoke difficult-to-understand English). The installers literally left us with a piece of transition, some glue in a canister we can't even use without buying the proper tool to get the glue out, and the advice on how to glue it down in the doorway.
We were essentially expected to 'do it ourselves', on a job we paid $2,800 for. Which is not something we would have chosen to do ourselves, if we had have been informed prior that one of the doors would have clearance issues, we would have either had someone picked out to do the job, chosen not to do the job at all, or deferred installation until we could figure out a plan of action. We are not carpenters.
In addition, the other two transitions had to be 'set' with glue -- something we were not informed of prior, we had no idea -- When the installers were done gluing them down in the doorway, he asked us for heavy objects from our house to hold them down! We found this to be very unprofessional to have to uproot items of a heavy nature without a single drop of advanced notice. We found boxes to put atop them which weren't all that heavy unfortunately and the installer seemed displeased with the weight of them as if it weren't enough -- but he still allowed them to be the items that held the transitions down.
We were never once told prior to this that we would have to come up with heavy objects to set on top of transitions to keep them 'held down' until they set. Not once during the estimate or installation phase, only at the end when all was said and done.
So we covered the transition area with boxes that we could find.
Moving on to the body of the complaint:
After the incident with the transition, both installers went down to their vehicle. I was very frustrated at how things were going, so I took a walk around the apartment at that point in time. As I walked around the unit, the floors in three to four places in the unit bent and bounced under my feet, in at least one location the drop is considerable. I remember phoning my husband and saying "It's like a fun house in here the floors are so uneven."
When the installers came back up, I explained the problem to which one of them said "Well the floors were uneven underneath." The floor/sub-floor was uneven? The same floors that the estimator (Mike of Mike's Carpet) refused to take a look at? No one ever brought out a level or ever checked underneath the floors, nothing. Not one thing.
In addition, one of the major caveats in the floor is coming out of the kitchen into the living area. As far as I know, they put the laminate directly over the linoleum in the kitchen without removing it, meaning the kitchen is officially higher than the living area in height! So when you laminate over the kitchen, of course it will drop down into the main living area a bit. It only dawned on me now how stupid it was to leave the linoleum in the kitchen in place.
At no point did the installers come and tell me "Your floors are terribly uneven. How would you like to proceed?"
If they had, my answer would have been "Put our carpet back." But of course they had already ripped and cut the entire thing away by this point, rather than lifting some of the carpet in the living area in order to check the floors, instead they got right down to business cutting our carpet in the hallways. I know from my own research and from my husband doing his research that the number one mistake people make is to install laminate flooring on an uneven surface. Even the most basic of contractors knows this. Even we know this and had we known that the floors were uneven, we would not have leveled the floor, we would have just chosen not to install laminate.
I tried to get more information out of the installers about how on earth this was supposed to be a proper installation, but I was only met with disillusion. "We're just paid to put it down". "Just sign the paper so I can get paid". And still when I showed him one of the spots where it was bouncing, and I pressed my foot up and down on it to demonstrate and asked him "And you're sure this won't break?", the installer said to me (verbatim): "Well if you keep doing that, of course it will break."
So just to clarify, the installers themselves said the bouncing points in the floor will break.
We phoned Mike of Mike's Flooring that day looking for an explanation. While on the phone with him later in the evening, we were told that the floor will 'settle' with the uneven floors (so what he's telling me is that my floor is going to have a dip in it? Yes, that's so much better, clearly!).. even though all of our research says the floors -could- have been at least shimmed with either padding or wood to prevent the dips in the floors, he was telling me it was perfectly OK.
He said the installers had actually telephoned him during the install to tell him the floors were uneven! And he told them to go ahead and install them anyway, without talking to us. At no point did anyone tell us the floors were uneven or explain what that would mean for us going into the future.
He said he was trying to save us money, to save people money, because who would pay $5,000 to level the floor -- not most people, was his opinion. But the problem is that no one asked us, no one informed us, and the fact is there was another option rather than pay $5,000 for a leveled floor.
The option would have been for him to have checked the floors prior to installation, and in the event the floors were found to be grossly uneven as they are, we would have chosen not to install the laminate. Instead, we would have replaced the damaged carpet. In fact we may have lived with the damaged carpet for some time to come if the alternative was poorly-installed floors.
But now the floors were here, essentially without our informed consent. So I pushed him over and over again to assure us that these floors would be covered by the warranty and by Mike's Flooring in the event of damage to the bouncing areas. He was somewhat reluctant to state it firmly but in the end upon my questioning him that we could rely on them to be responsible for the floors, he said that yes, they stand by their installation.
We took that as gospel, some shred of hope at least. He also apologized on the phone for not having told us the need for heavy objects on the doorway transitions earlier, and he asked us to please not move the boxes until the next day. And that was it for the night.
The next day we removed the boxes from the transitions so we could move our furniture. Luckily this was the first thing going right for us, the transitions seemed firmly in place and they were not moving like they were the day before. However when we removed the boxes and turned on all the lights in the area to check the work, we noticed there was a notch gouged out of the floor, and not by anything we had placed there to hold the floor down that's for sure.
The gouge in the floor is crescent-shaped and resembles a tool mark, maybe a hammer or some other tool, I'm not sure. But it's there.
I emailed Mike's Flooring immediately that evening (evening of the 28th) with a photo of the damage attached.
I am still waiting on the morning of the 31st to have anyone even attempt to contact me, despite the company being very prompt at responding prior, scheduling our estimate/installation, and certainly in taking our money. But for this, we get put off.
In addition (as if there weren't enough already), if you recall my talking about the bathroom transition that couldn't be installed. Well when I asked the installers to show me how far the door would close with the transition in, they put the transition down in place and pulled the door closed, but instead of stopping when the transition resisted the door, he forced the door over the transition, causing a huge scratch in the finish of the transition.
So that's additional damage on top of everything else.
We've been through a lot with these floors in a matter of days. We're tired, we're stressed, we're anxious about our product. We live in a housing co-op that requires us to do things by-the-book and ensure quality workmanship on anything we change out. We do not 'own' this property, we are accountable to someone else, and Mike's Flooring needs to be accountable to -us- in turn.
These floors are improperly installed and we were improperly informed during the entire process. As a result, we have a sub-par installation of the product we chose, and we chose the product based on a lack of information by the company. Essentially we were kept in ignorance, perhaps on purpose though I can only speculate as to the intent.
And finally: Though it was mentioned that the crew would clean up after themselves, the unit was left caked in dirt both inside and out on our balcony. It took many hours to clean it all up, and the balcony is still filthy.
What we’d like at this point is as follows:
1) The chip in the floor repaired
2) The damage to the bathroom transition touched up in some way (we have no choice but to install the transition ourselves somehow this weekend because otherwise we risk damaging the floors near the bathroom door over time)
3) A guarantee in writing and signed by Mike of Mike’s Carpet and Flooring that states Mike’s Carpet and Flooring shall be responsible for any and all damage to these floors in any of the uneven areas, including but not limited to cracking of the locking joints or any other portion of the floorboards. There are three to four areas and Mike’s Carpet and Flooring is more than welcome to come and document these areas for future reference, otherwise we will document them ourselves.
Barring the above solution, we would ask that:
A significant portion of our money is refunded on this job so that we can potentially hire someone to assess and potentially fix the floors that Mike's Flooring installed.
We are open to other potential solutions as well and are not unreasonable people. But we are frustrated, angry, and very very unsatisfied.
-------------
Update June 19, 2013
Mike's Flooring sent us a repair tech to install the transition in our door (and we agreed we would chop the door ourselves, even though we have no clue what we're doing) and "fix" the chip in our floor.
Here are the results:
The chip in the floor was filled with paste. A brand-new installation, damaged by them, and instead of replacing the board, they filled it with paste. Paste I can get at Home Depot for $5 which is exactly what the installer told me husband he could actually do. Cheap fix for cheap work, I guess. Go figure.
The transition in the bathroom: The installer showed up with two different types of transitions.. and the lower-profile type? Well that fit in the door perfectly, WITHOUT having to chop the door AT ALL.
Had Mike's Flooring taken only a moment to inspect our premesis when they first did the estimate, they would have known these things prior and they would have shown up properly prepared like a professional should.
Even though Mike's Flooring repaired the chip (barely) in our floor, if you can call it 'repaired', and installed the transition in our bathroom as they should have done to begin with.. we are still completely unsatisfied, and we still do NOT have a written agreement from the company to warranty the floors in the uneven areas. We have a lot of phone-call promises that we practically had to berate out of them by repeating the question over and over and over again, but nothign in writing which is what I wanted.
I still feel I will end up filling a Better Business Bureau complaint against them in an attempt to get the warranty -in writing- for having installed laminate on uneven floors without informing the customer (us).
So there you have it. Buyer beware.

I am going to start out by saying that Mikes flooring did an amazing job. They provided very good service! The first thing we did was call Mikes Flooring. They told us that they provide in home estimates which was great because this save us time and gas on driving out to the showroom. Mike scheduled us for evening appointment as we work during business hours - this also made us very happy. Mike showed up on time - very polite, knowledgeable man. He introduced himself and got right to business. He asked us where we were getting the new floors so we showed him. He measured the area which took him 5 minutes. After the measurements he showed us samples of the laminate flooring and went step by step about how this process. He went into details and did not leave anything out. He asked questions about the baseboards, if we were going to remove it ourselves, asked about the transitions, closets doors, removing the old floor ect... things that you would not think about so there were no surprises. Once Mike left we received the estimate within the hour. It was very clear and specific so once again we knew there weren't going to be any surprises as in the past we did some renovation always something would come up. The price was reasonable. We chose 8mm laminate through out the whole house except the kitchen (we left tiles in the kitchen) On the installation date the installers came in and got to work right away. The pulled up the old laminate, removed the baseboard, swept the floor and started the installation. The area was 900sqft. The job finished that day! :) We were very happy about that!. I think that if you were looking to change your floors definitely check out Mikes flooring. We definitely don't regret it! And the floors we got was the Glassgow Oak legacy line. Beautiful color. Very modern and a good price.
Quick service! Mike is a standup guy!
We purchased tigerwood hardwood and hired them to install it. Mikes Carpet & Flooring were exceptional. Did a great job on the installation. Our home looks beautiful! Thanks for all the hardwood
renovated my home office and my bedrrooms. I had 20 yr old carpet. Mikes Carpet had a good deal on Laminate - not the cheap stuff. THe legacy laminate that was a european product for $1.99sqft installed. The estimate that was provided by Mike was very reasonable. The installation started about a week afther the i got the estimate and the installation took one day. My looks very good. My home looks bigger now and more modern. Thanks to the installers for there hard work
I am pregnant and getting ready for a baby. We hired them to change our carpet to laminate. They did a beautiful job! Finished on time. We couldnt be happier with the service. Getting ready for a baby can be ecpensive so we were greatful for the promotion that Mikes Carpet had. It made it easier for us to say yes and go for it because it was such a good deal. We found Mikes Carpet & FLooring on the net. We were impressed with the reviews and one we met Mike he also impressed us. He is a knowledgable men. The hardwood installation was very very good. They paid attention to detail. Highly recommend them
I found these guys on the net. Surprised by the price they had on laminate and carpet. I gave them a call. The receptionist gave me more details and took my information. Mike then called me and set up a time for a home estimate which was free. Speaking to Mike for about half an hour I knew that I was in good hands. The samples he brought with him were high quality laminate and carpet. 15 minutes after Mike left my home I recieved an email of the estimate. I was pleased with the price. Called up Mike and booked the install for two days later. The installers showed up on time. Jamil the installer is a hard worker, funny guy and crazy in a good way. His helper is a bit quiet but also a hard worker. They did not waste any time. Got to work right away and took one 5 minute break. The laminate in the living room and the dining room and carpet in the bedrooms look great!!
My brother recommend Mikes Carpet & Flooring. My kids have asthma and I was in need to get rid of the carpet but did not want to spend to much money. Mikes Carpet & Flooring had a reasonable price for laminate for $1.99sqft which included the install and underlay. Lamiante is european made and had 25 yr warranty. Mike's Carpet & Flooring also provided life time warranty. The floors were changed in my whole house from carpet to laminate. The job was done in two days as my choice. It could have been done in one but I thought that it might be to much work for me and Mike allowed that to happen. Reza the installer did a great job! He paid attention to small details. I would higher them again. When you call Mike's cArpet & flooring make sure you meet Mike. He is a knowlegable guy and can explain everything detail to you that you have not he thought of
I hired Mike's Carpet & Flooring to change the carpet in my office. I chose commercial carpet for $1.66sqft which included installation. Best deal ever! I was even under my budget so I had enough money to update more. Sercan the installer did a super job. Worked in a timely manner so I did not get behind on my work and meetings. As a business women I can say with full confidence that I highly recommend Mike's Carpet & Flooring
We needed new carpet in out bedrooms and hardwood floors in our living room and dining room. We found Mikes's Carpet & Flooring online. Mike came to our home and we were impressed with the knowledge and the time he took to give us a estimate. He even brought samples with him. My husband and I did not hesitate to hire this company. We knew we were in good hands. We planned the installation to happen when we were out of town so we did not have to deal with dust and the hassle of everything. We left Friday and came back on Sunday. As soon as we walked in we felt like we were in a new house. Amazing work. They took care of everything. They even put the furniture back for us. Thanks For all the hard work the installers did and thanks for the awesome customer service. I highly recommend this company
I bought Laminate and installation services from Mikes Carpet & Flooring. They had a great deal for european laminate for $1.99sqft installtion included. I am very pleased with the results. They paid attention to detail They were courteous and treated our home with respect. Mike was very responsive with daily questions about the project and gave helpful in suggestions for materials, design, and options to help us stay within our budget. I highly recommend Mikes Carpet & Flooring.
The only nice thing I can say about Mike is that he sure was a good guy prior to my signing the contract. Since the horrible job, won't return calls, say's he will come by but never comes, never calls to say he can't make it, staff doesn't seem to know what's going on ... Could have easily been a great review with just a minimum of effort, but instead it has spiralled into one lazy mistake after another. My complaints are in with Visa and the BBB. For the love of Pete, don't pay cash, you'll have no recourse at all.
I visited Mike's Carpet and Flooring to get pricing on a flooring project for my home. The selection seemed very good and the pricing was competitive. I spoke to the owner and discussed availability as the material I was interested in purchasing was a special order. At the time they were unable to contact the manufacturer, so I was told that they would call me at a later date once availability was confirmed. I never received the call, so several days later I visited their showroom once again. The owner was not available and their receptionist was completely unaware of any pricing or availability for my flooring choice. Needless to say I decided not to purchase from them. As a customer you should never have to hunt down a company to do business with, they should be the ones to take the initiative to make the sale. I was truly disappointed as the selection and pricing was very good and Mike's Carpet and Flooring is a business that has many positive reviews. I visited their showroom on a recommendation but now my recommendation is to bring your business elsewhere.
I found these guys on the net-they had a awesome promotion with good quality. The laminate was made in Europe $1.99sqft with free installation. I was surprised by the variety of colors that i got to choose from. They installation was fast and professional.
Mike's carpet & Flooring changed renovated my whole house in one week!! I wanted to chang all the floors in every room. I did not want the same thing through out the whole house and Mikes flooring worked with me and helped me choose whats best for me and my family. In the kids bedroom they installed carpet (so its not too cold for them) In my bedroom we put beautiful ebony hardwood flooring. In the bathroom on the upper floor we put tiles. The living room, we installed hardwood and the kitchen we installed laminate tile. We also have a bathroom without a bath so we decided to put hardwood as well. They also painted my house. I had two colors to choose from that was included in the painting price but anything extra I had to pay but Mike gave a discount. They finished the job in one week. I am sooo happy. My home looks fresh and new. We feel good in our home. Ever since we changed everything, I wake up everyday with a smile. When friends come over
I was completely satisfied with the entire process of working with Mike’s Carpet & Flooring .Supply including; the sales staff, variety of woods, and installers. I had a very intricate install and was happy to see it completed in a superior timely manner. They are truly the best! . Not only was the installation fast, but the attention to detail was incredible. The sales staff taught me more about wood flooring in the first 10 minuets than I learned from all the other flooring stores I shopped in combined. I would do business with this company again. Thanks
This company is the best company hire to renovate your home. I searched around and I found no one as nice, professional, knowledgeable as Mike's Carpet & flooring. No one was able to beat the estimate that Mike gave me. I was lookinf for engineered wood but I was on a tight budget. I called so many companies but know one measured up to Mike's Carpet & Flooring. I had engineered wood installed in my living room for only $3.99 sqft-that include the engineered wood and installation. They removed and disposed my old floors and they put new baseboards in for me. It was unbelievable! The other companies I went to was not able to match the price with the same high quality of floors. Mike's Carpet scheduled me in within one week and they finished my whole apartment in one and a half day. The installers were proficient, nice and did a astonishing job-they made me comfortable enough to trust them to leave them in my home by themselves. They moved my furniture and put them back with care. They cleaned up after the installation. The whole process was easy-the whole time I felt comfortable and no pressure at all from anyone. Everyone from the sales rep to the receptionist to the installers, they were all friendly and answered all my questions. Couple of days after the installation I called Mike to ask him how to clean my floors and he took my call right away. Mike truly cared through out the whole process. It was not just about the money. As a satisfied customer I highly recommend Mike's carpet & flooring to everyone.

I bought 1000 sq/ft of Bedford walnunt 8mm laminate flooring from Mike's Carpet & Flooring. As soon as I walked inside the store I
felt welcomed. The receptionist and the sales person were nice to
me and wanted to help out. The sales rep gave me different options of the laminate. I felt very comfortable and made a decision right away and bought the laminate. Later on I called for some question about installing the laminate and Mike was very kind to have answered my questions. I highly recommend this company because of the customer service.

Shoddy Install with no resolution 7 months later
We hired Mike's Flooring in April 2013 to install laminate flooring throughout our 1,200 square foot townhouse. While hiring the company and getting an install date was quick and painless, the quality of the work that was done on our home is sub-par. The installer was abrasive and rude, and more concerned with installing the flooring quickly than doing a decent job. The base shoe throughout our house is chipped, broken and in places comes almost two inches away from the baseboard. The carpet on our stairs looks like a bad DIY project. We have been in contact with Mike's Flooring for the past 7 months trying to get them in here to fix the problems to no avail. Once your invoice is paid, don't expect to hear back from them if you have any issues. Kelly, you especially are one of the worst examples of customer service I have ever encountered. Terrible.
Hi Anna, On November 15,2013 we sent out two installers. We are glad that you are satisfied and happy with the repair. Thanks you Mikes Carpet & Flooring
