If you look closely at my picture, you will see that the pic of Spud was taken from the window of room in the Frontenac. A beautiful hotel in a beautiful end of the city. In the summer of 2008, they had a retired seeing eye dog working in the lobby as a greeter. Great touch! He was a hit.
Towering above the St. Lawrence River, the Château Frontenac is the most photographed landmark in Québec City, and is considered the Grand Dame of Canadian hotels. Its public rooms—from the intimate piano bar to the 700-seat ballroom reminiscent of the Hall of Mirrors at Versailles—are all opulent. Rooms are elegantly furnished, like mini châteaux, with gold and green touches. The ultimate... more
All around Canada, the Fairmont chain owns many of the most prominent properties, and they're often spectacularly sited. Le Château Frontenac is no exception. A former fort used to defend the city (it looks like a cross between a medieval castle and an 18th-century château), it straddles the topmost part of old town like the lord of the province. Like many of its brethren, it has a huge lobby... more
We enjoyed the location and were able to explore much of the city on foot.
One star is seriously all this hotel is worth. Simply put the outside structure of the hotel and its history is all that this hotel has to offer. The inside is run down has an odor of sewage ,maybe bad plumbing.
The carpets are dirty and the rooms are in serious need of renovation. There were’nt enough bell boys to help with the luggage, so the management was bad. You have to fight to get your...

The hotel was wonderful. I'm just not sure if it was quite worth the price. I will not be staying in this hotel the next time I travel to Quebec. However, if you have the money and want to stay there, I say go for it.
When you visit Quebec you cannot miss the Chateau Frontenac, it dominates the skyline and overlooks the whole of the St Lawrence river. When we stayed in Quebec we had two nights in a different hotel and then I thought I would treat my Mum to somewhere very impressive and where better than this?
The hotel itself was designated as a National Historic Site of Canada in 1980 and was built as part...
