not just a name

Another review states that you're only paying for the name here and that you get nothing in return. I disagree, this hotel is very nice and has great accommodations. The only reason I dock stars is because a lot of the extra amenities aren't included in your room price and cost extra.

Opened in 1914 as one of the Canadian Pacific Railroad hotels, the Palliser is Calgary's landmark historic hotel, and remains its most visible expression of old-world luxury. This hotel has a great location in downtown Calgary. It is a beautiful structure, with a full compliment of services offered. The reason I have assigned such a low rating has to do with the attitude of the staff, which has not been wonderful. Service in the Oak Room the first day we arrived was passable, but non existent last night...waited for a really long time for the bartender to... more

This hotel is connected by a skywalk to the Telus Convention Centre, Calgary Tower, and the Glenbow Museum. The centre of Calgary is covered with skyscrapers, conveying the impression of a big city. Guests will also find excellent shopping facilities and hip restaurants in the city. The entire core of the city is connected with a series of tunnels, to ward off winter's extreme cold. A winding... more
