I was here for a huge business event. We pretty much booked the entire hotel and most of the others in the area. This one, was by far the best. A truly beautiful setting inside. We enjoyed a wonderful two night stay in Calgary and felt extremely welcomed by the Fairmont staff. Avoid this place at all costs. I stayed here for a conference and had the worst experience. The bed was as hard as a rock and the room was filthy and in desperate need of repair. To top it all off, the housekeeping stole my belongings!

Gross, and if you have a car, there is "free parking" the spaces are totally limited though, first come first serve type of thing... forget about parking in the lot after 4pm. The room was INSANELY small  and there was supper nasty mold on the shower!

Why doesn't Yelp allow 0 stars? Called a couple days ago to make two different reservations for my bosses, and just checked the confirmation emails to find that one of the rooms was booked with the wrong room type, the wrong number of nights, and the wrong credit card!

DUMP!  A friend reserved this room for me. I hope I will find a way to forgive him. Upon checkin the first room they gave us smelled of stale cigarettes.  Room 2 did not smell but an old air conditioner hangs from the window and there is another building about 3 feet beyond that.  The halls are noisy and the walls thin.  In fact I could even hear someone plugging something into a socket next door.

Noisy and painfully slow elevators

I stayed here for a wedding at a different venue. Yes the hotel has a lot of charm, character and history, but also has old windows = really loud. It was filled with ambulance, fire and police sirens all night, then at 7:00 AM on a Saturday construction starts.

This us the place to stay in Calgary

We began and ended a trip to the Canadian Rockies and Montana at the Fairmont Palliser in Calgary. This was a wonderful beginning and end. The amenities and staff are absolutely superb. Every aspect of this hotel gets a top notch rating.

The newly decorated rooms on the 9th floor are very pretty but small and noisy. Still great Value and exceptional service. This is one of the great "old" Hotel and you will find the lobby Stunning.Great pool and Recreation area. Even better with Starbucks on the lower level.

Beautiful

Stayed one night in this historic hotel. Beautiful interiors, efficient & friendly reception and concierge staff. Actually, everyone we ran across was helpful.
Room was well appointed, clean, and spacious. On site restaurants were good, spa/pool area nice.

Awful

An absolute awful experience. Stayed at the palliser the night before my wedding and the wedding night. First off our entire floor smelt like old rotting fish. After askinf staff 3 different times to confirm something special would be done on our wedding night nothing was done. They reassured me everytime it would happen. Absolutely unreal. My boss came down a month ago to buy a package deal for me and 3 other co-workers to have a day at the spa, then dinner and then had rooms booked for the night. Wonderful staff who make you feel welcome. Nice gym with Precor equipment and lovely pool. Calming light blue decor. Friendly valets and front desk staff. Decor and size of the Junior Suite was nice - but the bathroom was small and awkward to use. Overlooking the railway tracks was intiguing - but some of the trains in the middle of the night were quite long...! Staff very helpful and location excellent.

We found the Fairmont Palliser to be a lovely hotel in a great location in downtown Calgary. The staff was very friendly and accommodating and gave us an upgrade to a Junior Suite for no additional fee. The room was lovely and for the price, much more than one would expect in the downtown area of a major city. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

They put us next to the elevator and my friend could not sleep a wink. Thank goodness that I had brought earplugs so I did not have it as bad. They made up by offering to comp our breakfast and dinner (but only after I insisted).

The Fairmont Paliser was very classy

It was very conveniently located for the centre of Calgary and only two hundred yards to the Rocky Mountaineer railway station. Elegantly decorated in the public areas and service inpeccable. Rooms relatively small and simple with small ensuite. Pool and jaccuzzi very nice.

Like wow again

I loved the OAk room lounge with it's old authentic aura and atmosphere. It's a lounge taht truly leys you lounge. The spa is awesome with it's pool and spa. There is nothing like sliding into the pool when you are first in and gliding through the water. I love the rooms , though sometimes small, teh whole atmosphere is one that just invites you back time and time again.
