Every day of the week there was lines out the door I recommend if traveling and you want to stop and go during a weekday as soon as it opens don't wait. The shorts can also be found in the local grocery stores hint hint chopped a version or slices.

After visiting a couple of Montreal delis, I have to say that Schwartz's is the best one and is the quintessential place for a smoked meat sandwich in Montreal.
Yes there is an unfriendly lady managing the pay counter but the sandwiches, the meat quality and speed of service for what you pay are pretty on point.

Wow ive had people bring home the schwartz before and it does not do any justice. I had no expectation here since the ones ive tried in the past were a disappointment. But wow i was amazed when i came to the actual store to try it fresh. Mind blown! So lucky there was no lineup that day. It was so delicious, tender, flavourful & even service was good! Jne n'aime plus leur smoked meat... et encore moins leur attitude indépendante et bête. J'explique au serveur que la fois précédente, ma viande avait été tranché beaucoup trop épaisse. J'ai alors spécifiquement demandé que le 'chef' tranche la viande mince. Le serveur m'apporte la sandwich avec la viande tranchée épaisse.
