Exciting show -- different every year!

The Tattoo is very fast-paced and packed with variety. Loved the bagpipes and of course the touching scenes commemorating our soldiers.

Great to see the show again!

We went on Wednesday night for the dress rehearsal and it was so great to see the show again. Our last visit was over 10 years ago. The show has changed a lot in terms of acts etc, but the visual impact and emotional charge remain as powerful as ever. Everyone should see this show at least once!

A real experience
May 27, 2014

This show has something for everyone. I didn't go for years as I thought it was all military marching bands. It has so much more than that! Singing, dancing, acrobatics, bands, choirs, animals...... I was there for 3 hours and it was so organized and well done that it seemed like 20minutes!

I don't know how many times that I have had to explain what the Royal Nova Scotia tattoo is to people on the West coast of Canada.
Simple it easier to say you need to see it to understand it!! One of the most unique aspects and event that Halifax has to offer to tourist and Canadians. A must see... more

April 15, 2014

If you like military bands, you will love the tatoo. A great way to spend an evening. You will see military bands from differend countries, the tatoo choir, great soloists, and different acts from different countries. A truly enjoyable show that is well renowned. If you come to Halifax in early July, do try to experience the tatoo.

Love the Tattoo
April 15, 2014

The first week of July is the famous Tatoo (only other place outside of Edinburgh that it is done). Always a slightly different line up of performers and main act each year. A tradition every year to go - as I live locally I go to the ticket window the day of and buy a half price ticket.

Outstanding show
March 29, 2014

As an ex-naval officer who at one time participated this is the penultimate show. Mass bands from all over the world, singers, acrobatics and the famous "gun run" come together for a fast paced three hours of entertainment.
I have already purchased tickets for this year.

If you are in town for this event or haven't gone before then I think you should go at least once! It's entertaining and showcases both local and international military and police talent (hello Paris Police Officers!). I do find though that if you go two years in a row you may very well see many of the same things... more

If you are a Military Band fan, Military fan, Motorcycle fan, Marching Team fan, or just a fan of fabulous entertainment, this is a great show, Not quite as genuine as the Tattoo in Edinburgh Castle in Scotland but as close as it can get in a inside venue. An amazing show - and one of the few left it seems. We went on the first matinee, which was our last day in Halifax. A wonderful spectacle of military music, skill, and history. We took our two grandsons (ages 4 & 5) and they were enthralled. Not enough explosions, too many bands. More that would appeal to kids. Celebration of Militarization
September 02, 2013

Loud and really not suitable for young children. Seeing the marching with gun in hand is a little disconcerting for children who are now being trained in schools for how to be prepared for an armed attack. The coral pieces are lovely as are the band numbers, but overall I could give it a pass.

As visitors from the states, this show was unlike anything we had seen before. Kind of like an old fashioned musical variety show, live. When we arrived in Halifax and discovered the Tattoo was on, we lucked out in getting tickets (half price, even!). July 15, 2013

The parade and the show are top notch. Very fast moving variety show with impressive sound and lights. The best seats are those facing the stage but at the opposite end of the arena from the stage. This is because many of the performing groups fill the arena floor and play to this end of the facility.
