Not only do they have incredible seafood here, very fresh and tons of oyster varieties, they also have a very nice atmosphere.
This restaurant has an amazing seafood menu. Not what you would think you'd find in Calgary. Fine dining, and oh, the oysters! Really well recommended. Downstairs also offers a more casual atmosphere.
The taste made us speachless as we were eatting barely spoke a word; only wanted to enjoy the food in the moment of the taste.
A business associate is going to retire and we treat her there. Quite environment with very professional waiter, excellent place for chatting. Blacken ling cod was excellent. Oysters were fresh and tasty as usual. Not cheap but worth every cents.
An excellent dining experience. My boyfriend and I started the evening with Negroni cocktails, a dozen oysters (the orange and champagne mignonette was divine) and crab cakes, all of which were wonderfully prepared and beautifully presented. For our entree, we both ordered the naked lobster which was also superb. We also ordered the Crémant d\u2019Alsace which was the perfect accompaniment for... more
Waiter Conrad was very accommodating to our group. Great service!Food was delicious - portion sizes small. Great tasting seafood for a Prairie seafood place. Everything was fresh tasting.
The food quality was excellent and the feature appetizer was fantastic several other tables ordered and reordered more the Tempura Shrimp. The Clam and Mussel pot was fresh and full of flavour. Seemed like everything on the menu would be a great choice. The fresh oyster bar looked amazing but will have to make that the second trip!!
Came here for a birthday dinner with my girlfriend. This place was recommended to me by a friend and did not disappoint. Great for an upscale seafood meal. Highly recommended.Service was excellent. We shared the crab cake (absolutely worth getting!) and my Arctic Char was great with its butternut squash. My girlfriend enjoyed the Bass.
The small seafood tower was shared by everyone at the table and offered a variety of chilled shellfish (lobster, crabs legs, mussels, oysters, clams.... Delicious. The naked lobster main course made the meal though. Pricy but well worth the treat. A sufficient amount of perfectly cooked lobster - and no shell to deal with! Served with the tastiest sweet corn (flavored with tarragon) I have ever... more
I've lived in Nova Scotia and I went to school in Vancouver, so I am pernickety when it comes to seafood. The Catch doesn't disappoint: for quality and freshness they are one of Calgary's best and I have always had great food there - even their lamb is very good if there is a non-seafood lover in the group. The raw oysters were fresh, not too large, and the sauces well paired.
The service was...

Catch came highly recommended by friends and it did not disappoint. We went there to celebrate a birthday and we got top-notch service and food. The staff went out of their way to make the evening special for us. The food was meticulously prepared so that the tastes and textures complement each other perfectly.
My wife and I enjoyed a wonderful dinner at The Catch celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary. We had the crab cake and humpback shrimp appetizers and my wife really enjoyed the naked lobster while I had the daily special of sturgeon. The service provided by our waiter Glenn was exceptional. Glenn was very friendly but not too instrusive and seemed to know exactly what we wanted to make our... more
My wife and I had the naked lobster, which is pre shelled whole lobster. Just claws and tail though. I found the presentation visually pleasing, but the lobster wasn't cooked as I prefer lobster. This lobster was much like a poached egg, the meat was tender but the texture more like raw oysters and a bit watery. I'm guessing the lobster was partially cooked ahead of time and then quickly heated... more
Honestly we avoided Catch for a while, remembering it as expensive. It is... but not as outrageous as remembered... the food was excellent... service great... we were early in the evening so the empty restaurant may have contributed to the timely and attentive service.
The upstairs dining room at Catch has always been one of my favourite "dining out in style" venues; somewhat traditional, slightly formal, professional attentive staff and delicious menu choices.
My most recent visit (29th April for my 20th wedding anniversary) did not live up to expectations! Gone are the beautifully dressed tables with white linens, in their place, a selections...

My favourite was the tomato appetizer; I forget what they called it, but it was tomatoes done 5 ways as an appetizer and it was incredible. :o)
Once again it was a delight to dine with clients at the Catch. The kitchen brought their A game and the flavours showed that. The service was warm and inviting and our special request was handled graciously. The excellent wine selection took things to a high point as everyone enjoyed a memorable meal. We were all impressed. I'll be back!
Interesting menu, fish was excellent, some of the sides were just ok. Appetizer partly frozen. For the price, it was not what was expected. Waiters were very attentive.
We went on a Saturday evening. Our table was ready but a more desirable was a few minutes away so they asked us to wait but served us complimentary champaigne. Dinner was great starting with the oysters followed by the lobster. Since we are not big desert eaters, we didn't bother ordering any, but before the bill came we were served up with small piece of cake just to top it off. We'll... more
Food was not served hot (i.e. was lukewarm), salmon smelled and tasted fishy, shrimp in ceviche dish were tiny, limp and scarce, waitress interrupted conversations at our table 2 or 3 times without even saying excuse me first. My wife and I had been to Catch around 5 years ago and it was fabulous then. Now, what a disaster.
Came to Catch for great seafood and it did didn't disappoint. Fantastic seafood tower as appetiser with two types of oysters, snow crab legs, half lobster, mussels, clams and shrimps. All delicious - a lot of seafood. Would definatley recommend this dish. I would suggest to Catch that they provide a finger bowl because your hands get very sticky - we had to go to the washrooms to clean up.

The Prawns were delish and my friend loved her Halibut.
I'm skeptical of seafood between Vancouver and Montreal but The Catch in the Hyatt Hotel can stand with the best on both coasts. The tuna tataki was excellent, served with chilled avocado. The butterfish was cooked to perfection and I enjoyed the well thought out wine selection. Service was friendly and spot on. Very impressed.
Nice fresh selection of oysters from the east and west coasts. Overall good food though the caesar salad could use more of a kick. The Thai inspired dish was fantastic.! Decor was nice, service friendly.
I routinely go to Catch, either the oyster bar or the restaurant upstairs for business or special family dinners. It is not inexpensive but the quality of food is consistently exceptional and the service excellent. The staff are truly professional. The atmosphere is elegant yet not intimidating. The wine selection considerable. The location downtown easy to get to with indoor... more
This place is sooo good. Quite pricey but well worth it.. Go for the Seafood Tower... Yummy.... The Oysters are amazing as well... more
If you want seafood in Calgary, this is pretty much the best place to get it. Location is good, difficult to find parking, but it's downtown Calgary, so get used to it.
I've been to the bar on several occasions downstairs, and this was the first time dining at the Dining Room Upstairs. The menu was mostly seafood, but a...

This is a special occasion place. It is expensive, but the quality of the food and service make it worthwhile. Complimentary Prosecco and dessert were nice touches [it was our anniversary]. The freshness of the food, the interesting preparation and the attention to detail all excellent. Menu is rather short, but well edited. If available I would have rated it... more
Great setting adjoining the Hyatt Regency downtown overlooking Stephen Avenue. Great lunch menu selection and accompanying wine list. Service was high quality - as it should be in a higher end establishment such as this. Most importantly, the food was fresh, delicious and well prepared/presented.
I would, however, recommend lunch at The Catch more for special business or personal occasions...

Catch Dining Room Upstairs might just have become our new favorite restaurant in Calgary. We went there last week with the wife for a romantic evening celebrating life. And Catch delivered!
From the moment you get seated down you are treated with respect, and service is super professional. I love that our server didn't start with "My name is xxx,...

Catch was in the lobby of my hotel, the Hyatt Regency in Calgary. The place doesn't look like much from the inside, but once you move through the restaurant, you find a truly inviting and welcoming decor. I sat at the bar, as I was solo on a business trip. The bar tenders chatted with me, as did the manager... more
Excellent seafood, average service and so-so decor. But the amazing food trumps the service and decor
It is reliably well prepared food in this restaurant..However,when we ordered from the menu the dish crab and lobster (as we did before),we were told that we can choose only one (for the same price).Since we frequented this restaurant,,the menu selection shrank considerably..We miss some of the excellent dishes which are not available any more.
Catch, is arguably the place for the freshest seafood prepared in fine dining style in Calgary. The upstairs dining room is an elegant space highlighted by the historic elements of exposed brick and stone. But, its the food that is the star. The menu will typically feature the fresh "line caught" catch of the day prepare in a creative and... more
I like the place simple not over the top with friendly staff. Its typical sea food restaurant and has a easy menu to choose from .... Liked the BC Salmon and dungress crab cakes !! If in town give it a try and you won't be disappointed !!
Was expecting more especially for that price there was a lot if bread on the oysters. The halibut and crab were good but not unforgettable.
Thank you for the experience! Not expensive when the quality meet the expectation. Nice wine list and not too expensive.
We went to Catch for a New Year's Eve feast. We had been here in the past and it was really good. Don't get me wrong - the food is excellent. For dinner, we had the small seafood tower, which is a lot of fun to eat in addition to it being tasty. For dessert I had the chocolate lover's... more
First thing, be forewarned. There are TWO different restaurants in this location - both named Catch. One is Catch - The Oyster Bar (main floor) and the other is simply Catch (upstairs dining room). They are NOT the same restaurant.
First-time goers should be aware that they should double-check their reservations to ensure it was made in the right restaurant...

The excellent food was complimented by our amazing server Glenn. He made great food and wine recommendations.
I'm wavering between a very good & excellent rating - the food was great, but not outstanding. The service was very good, but lacked that extra touch. The portion sizes were adequate, but left you wanting just a bit more. The prices were.....well the prices were just plain expensive. Be prepared for that! The atmosphere was excellent, but everything else... more
My husband & I had a fantastic meal at Catch. The lobster corn chowder was the best soup we've ever had- anywhere! The ambience was great, & we had a personable and efficient server. We called at the last minute for a reservation, and the front desk was very accomodating, even though they were obviously very busy. The mahi mahi... more
The food was some of the best tasting and presented food I have had, and I have been around... Service was also very good. If you want a special meal this is it. DVERYTHING from bread to dessert was outstanding.
The atmosphere is rather sterile and we found the dishes to be overcooked. My butter poached lobster was very rubbery and my husbands sea bass was definitely"well done". Great recommendation on wine, but as the evening progressed the service declined. There are better restaurants in town.
In the ever changing restaurant business I suppose Catch does deserve kudos for longevity--it has been an institution in Calgary for quite some time. My husband and I had not dined there for several years, when are assessment was simply little better than 'so-so.' We decided to give it another chance and visited recently with our adult children. Sadly, our... more
The server did not even talk to us. A couple of grunts and we finally got a word out of him when we asked for a dessert menu and he responded with"sure". Will not be going back. The place was a gong show
The service was great! I love the oysters for Calgary. I had a sparkling peach drink and my husband had a Malbec. I had the Maui, Maui which was good. I liked the hearts of palm and the squash ravioli. My husband's swordfish was good. I love dessert. I chose the chef's choice and it was okay with the chocolates,... more
Hubby and I met with some friends and went to Catch Dining room Upstairs in early July. The service was excellent with the waiter helping us with wine and different food options. Excellent food - service was impeccable - fish was very fresh. Excellent wines - a little pricy but if you take the time to go over the menu you can still find excellent wine at a fairly decent price.
This shoud have been an excellent rating as the food (Salmon) was so beautifully cooked and the accompaniments were delicious. However our first 3 wine choices were all unavailable and the wine is selected via an iPad so it should be current. Our choices were all in the lower price range as this was just dinner while travelling and not... more
Really good, warm, funny friendly service. A bit difficult to find (or maybe it was just us!). But a good meal, nice setting, didn't feel rushed. An excellent meal and a great place for quiet conversation.
I went to Catch on the "Big Taste" event and it was great! I had the four course tasting menu with the wine pairings, and everything was excellent. We particularly loved the salmon. I might go back here for my birthday later in the year!
Visited Catch for our anniversary. It was "Big Taste Calgary" week and so we opted to go with the 4 course gourmet dinner with wine pairings. Everything was superb. The place was packed on a Wednesday night but we received good service. Reservations are needed and I would book at least a week in advance to get a good time.... more

We've been to Catch on numerous occasions and is hence our default place for an unbelievable meal....except on Friday. Went to celebrate a Birthday and had the 5 course menu with wine parings. The wine portions were very generous and most of the meal decent--except our main course, the salmon, which was overcooked (hard!) and inedible. I told the server... more
