It was daring to open a restaurant in the same small town as multistarred inns, but chef-owner Dominic Tremblay has pulled it off. Contained in a small roadside house with a plain, unassuming interior, the true art appears on the plate. Wow ! Service comme j'en ai rarement vue. Personnel plus que courtois et disponible, ils connaissent leurs produits (bouffe et vins) ils savent bien conseiller... Et en plus c'est vraiment succulent ! originalité de plats les rends uniquent. Bravo ! à essayer absolument.

Nice food, innovative, unpretentious
07 août 2013dominic tremblay did a beautiful, original job of tradional dishes - i would never have guessed a lobster roll to be prepared like that! Bobby, the pastry chef, who also waited on us, did a beautiful job of a strawberry shortcake and was very attentive, and payient, answering all our questions in both french and english! I'd definitely come back.... plus

27 juillet 2013This place is a hidden gem. If they had a better location, they would be known as one of the very few best in the eastern townships and even in Quebec. Do not be fooled by the name, it is not a "café", but a gastronomic restaurant. We ate there numerous times and they have always been the best meals... plus

Cafe Massawippi is only doing group meals and catering
28 janvier 2013My wife and I were in North Hatley yesterday (Jan 28) and learned that the Cafe Massawippi is no longer open as a restaurant, but rather is doing group events and catering only. (We were told the owner has also opened a bistro in Coaticook, with much simpler food.) (I'm not sure how to handle the raters for this situation!)... plus

disappointed
14 juillet 2012Was very disappointed given all the great reviews. The food was very pedestrian (aside from the foie gras). Certainly not as good as any of the better mid range restaurants i've been to in Montreal (only 90mins away)-but comparable in price. The service was neither personal or attentive. There is no view. Wonderful dining experience

My wife and I had a great meal at Cafe Massawippi. They price the meal according to the number of "plates" that you order. The plates, as they explain, are larger than an appetizer and smaller than an entree. We ordered four and were quite satisfied.
The food is amazing--perfectly prepared and presented, with a really intersting mix of flavors....

The restaurant is located in a home that has been renovated into a restaurant. It is a classic and simple decor. The service was attentive, knowledgeable and professional. The menu changes regularly but the dishes that remain are their signature foie gras dishes.
The menu is a list of dishes where you pick 3 for 40$, 4 for 50$ &...

We went to this lovely restaurant on the last night of a visit to my wife's cousin in North Hatley. Dominic and his wife welcomed us into their restaurant/inn/home as if they were cousins too. The dining room is fairly plain, but open with plenty of space between tables.

This is Laurie Raphaël and Toqué ! off the main street in North Hatley.
We walked off the biking trail, relaxed shorts and all, after a late but wonderful bicycle ride from North Hatley to Lennoxville along the river into this welcoming and unpretentious restaurant. It is off the main street and does not overlook the lake or river but...

A unique combination of flavors in the country
23 avril 2009The Cafe Massawippi was a great discovery. The chef over there, Dominic Tremblay, handles the art of cooking like no other. He does every classic plates his own way which ends up being a total new creation. My taste buds were very pleased by his talent and I most admit that the scenery from the terrace added a little something.... plus
