What a fantastic location for a gorgeous hotel! After walking until the very end of the lake, we stopped by the Fairmount for high tea. What a beautiful and memorable experience! The staff was very nice and very professional. The food was absolutely delicious! Its a must if you visit Lake Louise.
This is perhaps the only Fairmont hotel that I've stayed at that I thought was worth it. The Chateau Lake Louise is the type of hotel I could live at. The style of the hotel is beautiful and the view and lake surroundings are breathtaking. During the summer the hikes must be explored, and finish the day with Fondue at the hotel restaurant at the back.
Alpine settings don't get more awesome than this: The Chateau Lake Louise is perched on the banks of aquamarine Lake Louise, with dramatic Victoria Glacier just off the distance. The actual structure is nowhere near as dramatic as the Fairmont Banff Springs, and there is always a distracting throng of tourists walking around the lake path. Nonetheless, when everyone else goes elsewhere for the... more
this is a very good looking hotel. I was very happy to have gone there. Inside the customer service was great. The hotel have great gift shops. I was thinking about getting a large stuffed animal (lion). Right outdoor is the Lake Louise. It was snowing that day which made it more special.
I first came to the Chateau Lake Louise as a young lad in awe of this place. Lake Louise with the mountains on each side and the Emerald lake really is one of the most amazing places in this country. Truly you cannot experience scenic Canadian rockies in a better place. It's freaking breath taking!

Luxurious with a spectacular view!
The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise is a Fairmont Hotel right on the eastern shore of Lake Louise. It's been around since 1911 with some wings that were rebuilt. The hotel's wooden Rattenbury Wing burned down in 1924, and was replaced by the current Barrot Wing one year later. The Painter Wing, built in 1913, is the oldest portion of the hotel still standing....

This review only concerns the afternoon tea--we didn't stay here. My wife has worked at five star hotels and has always wanted to come here for the afternoon tea. Beautiful hotel and property. The parking lot attendant was quite rude though. Lots to do and see in the surrounding areas of Lake Louise, Banff. You absolutely must see the Colombia ice fields. Awesome!!
Great hotel, but a bit too warm in room. Could not sleep well.
The hotel setting, staff and experience was a memory we will never forget.
My wife and I had a wonderful time. The rooms are small, but the view is spectacular. Be sure to go out and see the lake early in the morning when it is perfectly still and reflective of the beautiful surrounding mountains.
If you decide to stay here, please remind yourself frequently that what you are paying for is the location. This is the ONLY hotel on the lake. It has a monopoly and all prices reflect it.

What a beautiful lakefront hotel! I can not give the fairest review as honestly, I did not stay the night here. Nothing else to say but just a perfect hotel. Hotel staff were so helpful & courteous. Wished we could stay for weeks.
In a ten-day excursion from Banff to Jasper, we had to at least "see" the Chateau at Lake Louise. This is not our usual travel style, but we were transfixed, walking in. Great place to go for a walk alongside a beautiful and quiet lake beside the Rocky Mountains! Regret not going inside the Chateau for a tea, there's always next time!
I stayed here this past weekend after wanting to stay at this hotel for years! The location could not be better as far as scenery- lake/mountain views. Staying at The Fairmont Chateau, for me, was one of those 'once-in-a-life-time' experiences. The view from the room alone was spectacular. The rooms were fantastic, large, spacious and a fantastic bathroom. We ate at the downstairs restaurant which was beautiful over looking the lake. Staff were very friendly too.
the Gold floor is amazing! Lake views, large rooms, very nice and helpful staff and a fantastic lodge for breakfasts and 5 o'clock snacks! The chateau is also catering more than ever to cross-country skiers.. so we felt very welcome! We will be back!
Very nice hotel. Friendly staff. What I noticed however, was nearly everyone staying at the hotel seemed to be from the U.S. Nothing wrong with that I suppose, but on recent trip my family and I stayed at a lodge tucked up in the mountain. We are here for a two day stay. I'm a fan of Fairmont hotels, and after awhile, you get used to a certain standard of hospitality and care.
We recently stayed at the Fairmont San Francisco, San Jose, and Banff Springs. Each has provided an abundant level of excellent service and attention to our tourist-oriented needs.
But, initially, here at the Fairmont Lake Louise, there has been a...

spent 4 days here for my birthday. My husband and I were really happy and relaxed..heavenly, amazing, spectacular....the only thing I noticed, there's no clock in the room, which is not really a big deal..we had a good time.. i wished they gave me a birthday treat or surprise or something..maybe for my next birthday!
Upgraded to gold level and had a fantastic room with large window view of frozen lake. Good evening reception and excellent breakfast.
great hotel, nice staff! food was good, front desk was nice. everything was great!
There is no arguing that the beauty that surrounds the Chateau is unmatched. The building itself retains the charm and grandeur of a luxury resort of yesteryear. Dark woods, ornate details and spectacular views are available around every corner.
The dining options at the hotel consist of several top tier restaurants, a deli, and the glacial saloon. None of which are inexpensive. With the hope...

Staff was great...room okay but overpriced...food extremely
Fabulous experience! The friendliness, helpfulness & efficiency of the service is unparalleled! Beautifully, luxurious hotel accommodations and delicious food at on site restaurants! Accommodate various types of guests needs & provide excellent suggestions for local activities! Highly recommend this hotel!!
This hotel is located in one of the most beautiful places in the world. It is extremely well maintained, staff are very keen to help and service is usually top notch. It really is a fantastic place and worth the splurge, at least once in your life.
A few minor things that keep it from being 5 stars:
- the parking garage is no where near big enough for the number of rooms and nothing is done to...

Recommend, do it! couple's gate away, specially for aniversaries
The fondue place is the best place. They have the best meat products.
So I paid a kings ransom for a closet sized hotel room, and they expect me to dish out some more money to park underground. Instead I park in the free public area (first come first served!), ended up walking 10 minutes with my luggage up to my room.
I do some AMAZING cross country skiing! Gorgeous, beautiful landscape, great weather. I get up to my room and enjoy an ICE COLD SHOWER.
Now I'm...

Our stay was just after Christmas and was a very pleasant stay overall. While the staff were nice and mostly professional, it was not to the same quality as other Fairmont hotels. Several examples that were notable were in the restaurants when the server would clear plates of those of us who had finished even though one was still eating. This left the one person still eating feeling singled out... more
highly recommend and would stay again, when in canada
Beautifully maintained interiors and gardens. After paying a premium for our mountain view suite, I thought it over the top to be asked to pay for overnight parking (not mentioned prior to check in). Robes had to be requested (wanted to use them for pre and post swim) which then took 2 1/2 hrs to arrive (we'd already swum, showered and were heading off to dine!).In summary, 'box ticked'.
The hotel was wonderful. Amazing staff, wonderful food and activities. The walk around Lake Louise was a picture perfect experience. Although we did not bring our dog, the hotel is extremely pet friendly. Every staff member greeted us with warm hellos and were eager to answer questions and give advice about the area. We hope to go back again and again. Canoeing around the lake was so relaxing.
Softly falling snow. Beautiful hiking trails. Trees lit up at dusk. Never a better view while dining. Perfect setting to rekindle the romance.
Spectacular views of Lake Louise. Amazing service and staff friendliness.\n\nExpensive restaurant for the quality of food served.
Sightseeing, relaxing, hiking, and just sitting by the window enjoying the BEST view of Lake Louise and Victoria Glacier. We literally could not get enough of the eye candy! And the meals were to die for!! Staff called us by name and we felt we were part of a much larger, non dysfunctional family!!! We are already planning our return trip for next year. Peninsula Club, move over!!!
We went to experience the National Park, hiking, history, animals, flowers & trees, glaciers, geology, etc. Making this hotel the start of the visit was perfect. The view of the glacier and lake and mountains in the early morning and late evening started the experience, followed by the hikes to Lake Agnes and Plain mts, etc. It is well worth the cost, and a perfect takeoff for the Icehighway... more
Beautiful scenery and old world class hotel.\n\nToo many add on taxes, plus a $25.00 non valet parking rate. Food was subpar for the price paid in the lobby leisure restaurant.\n\nBeautiful classy world famous hotel. Everyone should stay at least one time to experience the elegance.
Great location Staff not entirely helpful with early checkin
Breath taking views of the lake from our room - which is what we expected. [...] Location allowed access to Banff and saw bears, elk, enrote. Great guided tour to top of lake. Would recomend for location not for service overall (although some very good) - would stay agian for th view from bedroom - unmatched!
Location.\n\nI was expecting to be informed in advance about no having air condition in our rooms. This was a terrible experience.
Restaurants had unimaginative menus with over-the-top prices. For example, a fondue that included a bowl of cheese, one brocolli floweret, a stick of celery, two carrot sticks, and bread crumbs for nearly $50.Loud heat/cooling system awakens you in the night. Parking lot noise awakend us in the early am too.Better to stay in Banff and drive to the hotel, just to see it and the beautiful... more
The Hotel is conveniently located on the shore of Lake Louise. It is also a convenient jumping off point to explore the Kootenay and Yoho National Parks. However there are other hotels in the area that may be a better value. Be aware that purchase of a room through Orbits will not get you a lakeside room unless they specifically say so. Most of the lakeside rooms seemed to be reserved for... more
Awesome location, especially if you go for a Lakeview Room. The only problem we had was a large charge on the bill at checkout for a tour/hike that we didn't book or undertake.
We experienced many activities while at Lake Louise - Canoing, Horseback riding, Hiking, wonderful dining, outstanding sights with the lake and mountains.
The hotel is at Lake Louise, so it has a fantastic setting. The room was lovely, with lots of charm. Food in the various restaurants was of mixed quality. For the most part you do not get value for the price paid. The Deli and the Lounge are the best.
Upon checkin, we were informed that 1 of our reservations (2 rms) had been given a complimentary upgrade from a Junior Ste. to a 1 Bdrm Ste. Not only was the Junior Ste large, but the 1 Bdrm was extra big for a family of 4. The rooms were nice (old world charm), BUT the view was unbelievable. We sat out back by the lake and it was so amazing that it felt like a fake Hollywood backdrop with... more
In our week at the hotel, we hiked, did GREAT photography, ate too much delicious food, and had a wonderful time. When we arrived the front desk "apologized" for the weather, cool and drizzling rain. We were coming from Texas with 2 months of 100+ degree heat and the worst drought in years. Apology? We thought it was great. The next 6 days were beautiful!! The staff was friendly and very... more
I got upgraded, free of charge, to an AMAZING view of the lake. Just gorgeous. A really beautiful place to stay.
The bathroom tools such as twoel, shampoo, ... etc is quite limited.
The special rate meant also a small room. A luxury hotel wonderful to walk through and right on the lake, with a great easy trail right on the water's edge. But the room--Pricey even at a cut rate and a few more amenities would have been welcome. The four diamond restaurant has great service but the food is average.
Ecerything absolutely perfect with one exception. I deeply bruised and then cut my leg rather badly on the block holding the bed off the floor. A king sized murphy bed that jammed you into a table when you tried to go one side. The table should have been much smaller...or square vs round. Kind of a weird arrangement. But all the other stuff offset that downside.
This hotel is horrible for the price. The location is great, but of the 5 hotels i stayed on this trip, this was by far the worst experience. The Room had no AC, the windows barely opend and for 3 nights we slept at ~26C, 80F while sweating. Also the interenet did not work and i spent 1 hr troubleshooting with some service center guy at an offsite location, worse yet they wanted to charge $15 a... more
Everything about this amazing hotel met or exceeded our expectations, EXCEPT: the room was rather small, hard to get around in with two suitcases, the bathroom was tiny, and there was NO air conditioning, which is probably fine 98% of the time, but we were there when it was quite hot out, and it made sleeping at night not so pleasant. Quite a surprise for what I would refer to as a four star... more
We hiked, canoed, did driving trips north and south of Lake Louise. The room was a bit stuffy it would not cool down much. This was our best trip to Canada.
It was a fabulous location! The view of Lake Louise was great. The history and old time elegance was wonderful! The service was great and very personal. The staff really make this beautiful hotel very special. The rooms were very small (keeping with the nature of an older hotel). Our room was also very very warm. Even with the overhead fan, a table top fan and the windows open it was... more
When we got to the hotel, they did not have a reservation for us. Apparently, Orbitz never forward our information to the hotel. Luckily I had a copy of the Orbitz confirmation email. After the front desk personnel checked with management inside, he graciously gave us the room and stated that the hotel will deal with Orbitz directly instead of having us do it. We were impressed with the way... more
The Chateau Lake Louise is, by far, the most beautiful place I have ever been. The grounds are astounding! It’s not often one gets to go outside of their hotel and gaze at an enormous glacier. You can hike around the glacier or sit on the edge of the beautiful blue pool of water beneath it. The hotel itself is breathtaking! The lobby has a beautiful old-world feel. There are always activities... more
