Amazing dining experience

Took my mom there as a surprise to celebrate her 60th Birthday. We were a party of 4 and had an amzing experience. The food, wine and service was all perfect! Great place to celebrate any special occasion.

We enjoyed another wonderful dining experience At Raymonds. Each year we dine there as the cuisine and service are always consistent. It is a treat to see the changes in the menus. Many of the choices are prepared from local foods.
We look forward to dining there when we return to St. Johns next year.

Excellent meal

My wife and I had our wedding reception at Raymond's August 2012 and were blown away by the whole experience, as were all of our guests! We were equally impressed by the meal we recently had, August 2014, and would recommend this restaurant to anybody!

The nitty gritty - wife had halibut, was slightly dry and oversalted. Remainder of plate was good. I had pork trio which was great all around, Bro had tenderoin. Giving Raymonds 2 stars for their food may seem harsh but when you're rated #1 in Canada and have the nations best on the top 50 list as peers you have to put a great meal together.Raymonds simply had one failure .... no flavor. Each dish was presented beautifully but were very bland.

Everything about Raymonds is stunning- the food, building, service and view! You can tell everything is fresh and prepared skillfully. Could not recommend highly enough.May not be great for picky eaters but they will accommodate special dietary requirements. The wine list was abundant and the food options were incredible. We had two 7 course tastings, the steak and cod entrees. I had high expectations and they were exceeded. One of the best in the country. It was a experience of good food , presentation, knowledgeable waitress made the food even more enjoyable and good atmosphere. Hard to believe its ranking. Interesting menu but other than dessert nothing stood out. Duck promised medium rare and was well done. At close to $50, entrees should be perfect. I can see why it was rated the best restaurant in Canada. Fantastic meal, unbelievably professional service, but not too stuffy or full of itself. Expensive of course, but worth it for anyone that likes fine food. Or just eating!

I was very pleased with the service, they moved us to a quite spot, because we were sat next to a large family that were also celebrating but not for romantic reasons. Once we were moved the atmosphere and the service was impeccable, I would recommend to any one for a special occasion.

Overdone entrees

Our service was excellent. Everyone in our party ordered halibut as their entree. For the price we paid it was overdone and, we had requested specifically that is wouldn't be. We've ordered halibut all over the world. For the restaurant rated " Best in Canada ", this should not happen.

Excellent service and food was fantastic. Staff very helpful with reservation change and helped make for an even more wonderful evening. Ordered 5 course Chefs choice with wine pairing....next time we would choose the 7 course for sure ! A must try.

They don't name Raymond's as the best restaurant in Canada for no other reason than the fact that it's amazing. My wife and I visited Raymonds while vacationing in St John's. It was a very good dinner, one that we will remember for a lifetime. We each did the 5 course chefs menu which leaves the complete dinner at the decision of the chef. It was amazing, would definitely return and would do the same 5 course menu.

It was a great meal. Very good wine pairings. The ambiance of the restaurant was lovely. Excellent service.

The rankings of Raymond's as the best restaurant in Canada are not overblown, and this makes me sad because I live in Vancouver. The best meal I've ever had in my life. Beef tenderloin was... I don't have a descriptive enough word. Service was on-point, the sommelier was the best one I've ever had as well. Truly excellent. The space is gorgeous. Beautiful but relaxed. Not pretentious at all.

Our group had the seven course tasting menu with wine pairings, and we were very impressed with both the food and the pairings. They accommodated our picky eaters as well. It's an expensive place but suitable for a special occasion.

Fabulous dining experience

My first time dining here and quite the experience. The harbour views were gorgeous, the halibut was absolutely delicious and the waiting staff were friendly, knowledgeable and very prompt. Would highly recommend!

This was our first visit to Raymonds. We had heard great things about this place but our expectations were exceeded. The service was awesome right from the time we walked in the door until we walked out. It was one of the best meals, if not the best, we had ever eaten! We shall certainly return!

One of the best

The two of us spent the better part of two hours shoving the best food in Canada into our gaping maws. Each course was a delight in aroma and taste and presentation. Having traveled to some of the best restaurants in the world I can only say Raymond's is at the top of the list. Which of course is well said for a restaurant situated on a rock in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. Go there.

We had a very nice dinner at Raymonds restaurant. The food and service was excellent. We bother had steak which really were two small roasts cooked to perfection. Mouthwatering and tasty. We would definitely go back at another time.

Renee, you should really check out all your facts before posting. You may have spoken to a girl at Raymonds but she wasn’t the manager, as there is no female manager at Raymonds. And by the tone of your post maybe she was coming across as rude to you because you were acting rude or unreasonable with her to begin with.

Went to Raymonds just last night with friends who recommended we go there! We were not disappointed. I had the cod, it was cooked perfectly! The taste of this plate was incredible. Had another fantastic meal here recently. We were treated to a glass of champagne to start our meal as we were celebrating a birthday – nice touch. Service is unsurpassed and the food, as always, was amazing. Standouts were the rabbit pasta and cannoli dessert. Can’t wait for our next visit.

It’s more than just a meal at a restaurant. It’s an EXPERIENCE. And an amazing one at that!

No words to describe this amazing restaurant. Nothing in NL or Eastern Canada for that matter can compare to the experience I had. I have dined at some of the finest restaurants in Canada. The only disappointment is that it is not wheelchair accessible and when I am old and decrepit and wanting to dine at Raymonds, I will have to have strong young men carry me in!

Dined in many fine restaurants in North America…this one is superlative to say the least. Jeremy B and Jeremy C have an amazing establishment which has done wonders for the Downtown Dining experience in St. John’s and surrounding areas! Congratulations. Spectacular service accompanied with impeccable food…leaves one speechless. You must experience it for yourself!

I can’t add anything more than what has already been said. The food & wine is absolutely fantastic, and the service is even better. I can’t wait to go again. Its hard to give a rating because there was things that were great and things that were bad. On sat March 5 my partner and I had a reservation for 8:30 and we had to wait almost an hour to be seated. The best meal I have had anywhere, with perfect wine pairings, luxurious environemnt, people who know what they are doing, quality all around. Go there, you will no tbe disappointed. I tried the tasting menu and wine pairings and was taken to a higher place for three hours. I cannot wait to return. We are so lucky to have the two Jeremy’s and their team in St. John’s.

Had Raymond’s for the first time last night and it more than lived up to its reputation as the finest fine dining in the city.

Had a meal there over Christmas and there’s a reason it’s jam packed every night. At one point, a friend remarked ‘This is as good as the best restaurant anywhere else in the world’. fabulous atmosphere. exemplary service. great food and lots of it. wine cellar gets a 5 star rating on it’s own. Can’t wait to return.

All i have to say is A+. 3 Course meal was Delicious and there is nothing bad about this restaurant that i can say. I will be back again!

The new standard for decor, service and complex flavours in the city. We had the tasting menu and from the fresh oysters to the handmade pasta it was a foodie’s delight. The decor is simple and elegant – beautifully classic. A very, very special night out.
