Great fine dining experience. Was there for dinner and enjoyed the seafood lasagna. Prices are a little steep, selection limited, but what they do offer is unique and great quality. Highly recommend it as a fine dining destination.
Food, service, and atmosphere were great. One of the best meals we had on the road this year. We will surely visit this charming downtown restaurant again, the next time we are in town.
Cuisine here is a pleasure to the taste buds. They have a fairly extensive wine list. In a recent meal I enjoyed the pan-seared halibut with chanterelle mushrooms. Phenomenal! There is a very diverse dessert list as well.
The Queen St. location is very lovely on a summer's eve, for outdoor dining. Service is excellent.
The food and service never disappoint! The menu includes a wide variety of choices. Service tends to be quick. Central downtown location.
Excellent cuisine, good wine list, first class service, stylish renovation in historic area of Fredericton, reasonable prices.
The servers are always nice and knowledgeable. We love the fine food and the casual atmosphere. Its always delicious, well priced, and both the chefs and servers do what they can to accommodate my allergies. we love it!
We've stopped in for lunch a couple of times now and have never been disappointed. The lunch specials and entrees are reasonably priced and very tasty...not too much food that you go away bloated but just enough to have a satisfying lunch. The staff have always been very friendly and accommodating. The atmosphere, while busy at lunchtime, is pleasant and... more
We were recommended to try this restaurant by Tom and Judy at The Sunset on the River (stay there - it's great!). We were not disappointed. Fresh tastes and clever combinations - a special of Salmon with Asparagus, mushrooms and Fiddleheads was perfectly cooked and expertly dressed. Mussels in a light sauce were delicious. Service is cheerful and obliging -... more
Went here late one evening with friends and we all enjoyed excellent food and great service. The prices were very reasonable. It was the best meal I had in 4 days in Fredericton. I would love to go back.
In Fredericton for just a couple of days so the Trip advisor review sent me to this place. Really good food and great service- attentive but not overly. Definitely recommended and I am going back for lunch today,e
I happened upon this restaurant while looking for another that was recommended. I am very happy to have found it!
Great service with a smile. The waitress was super friendly and helpful. Against my usual, I ordered the most expensive meal on the menu. To my delight it was worth every penny!
Steak was grilled to perfection and the sauce...

The scallops were delicious. All food and service the best. Recommended for nice evening. The service was outstanding, food is of the best quality and always fresh. Plenty of parking on Queen Street or in city parking lot.
If you're looking for a spot to tickle your palate then this is a must stop. Freshly prepared food and promptly served in a casual atmosphere, The Palate is a popular spot especially at lunch time. If you don't want to be disappointed, reservations are recommended. Lunch menu pricing is comparable to other downtown locations; dinner entrees are slightly above.... more
Went to the Palate today for the "blue plate feature". Priced at $8.50 I was not expecting much. It was curried sweet potato soup and a chicken pesto melt. I am not a fan of sweet potatoes but WOW what an amazing flavor. The sandwich was served open faced and it was also amazing. Serving size was perfect! This is... more
My wife and I had lunch here on Tuesday April 1. We were quite impressed with the meal the service, and the location of this restaurant. I had the rack of lamb, and it was very delicious.
True it is a little on the expensive side, but it was worth very penny, and we will be going back again.
Had the pleasure of dining here with a large group while on a business trip. What a fantastic experience! The setting is open and airy with interesting art and decor. The food - everybody was raving about their selection and vowed to return. Well done!
We usually go to the Palate about twice a month and I think it is the best in Fredericton, and try to take our out of town guests there as well. Ken and his chef partner Boris continue to give excellent service and dining choices. I usually try the specials, which always include an exotic soup, a pasta and either... more
And great place for a nice dinner. A comfortable atmosphere with knowledgeable staff topped off with a reasonable wine selection. I would suggest sharing an appetizer unless you are really hungry. Ideal for a nice evening out without breaking the bank.
One of my favourite spots for lunch. Dinner is a little expensive but still worth it. One of the only restaurants that has an actual chef.
The Palate Restaurant in my view is one of the best restaurants in Fredericton. The presentation, flavor and taste are remarkable. The service is also excellent, atmosphere is great especially for the evening meal. The noon hour lunch is very good, quick service and very reasonably priced. Biggest hint would be reserve early as they appear to sell out quickly.
The Palate has great lunch specials - soup and open face sandwich combos that may sound a bit unusual, but are always delicious. Their supper menu is just as amazing, I recently tried the pork tenderloin (yum!) and my husband had a salmon/pasta combination that he really enjoyed. Dessert was a sticky toffee pudding, so good that stopping in just... more
We try to go to different restaurants in the city but we always seem to be drawn to the Palate. Hands down they have the best Ceasar Salad in the world. It is fresh, homemade sauce , real bacon and you must have the poached egg on it too . My wife always has the salmon and I have one... more
The staff cringed as we walked in with an infant, and they seated us immediately in front of the door. The high-chair they provided was in questionable condition, but we were ready to eat and the menu is what we were looking for.
The food was good, and we were happy to find local beer on tap. (Especially since the...

Went to lunch here on a business trip. The food was amazing. Loved it. Great service. If in the area, by all means try this place out.
This was my first time dining at this restaurant and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The server was awesome and did a great job recommending wine. The food was excellent. I had sweet potato ginger soup which was delicious and Thai Chicken that was outstanding. It tasted just like it did in Thailand. My husband enjoyed the Brie appetizer and salmon... more
Walked by The Palate many times and finally decided to try it out . It was a nice change from the pub food we usually dine on . Reasonable prices for amazing ,flavorful and interesting selections.I had the shrimp stir fry and my wife had a chicken and blue cheese pita pizza . We shared a cup of curry vegetable... more
We had The Palate recommended to us by a business associate from Fredericton. I am glad we took his advice. The atmosphere is excellent. The service was prompt and friendly. The food (especially the seafood) was excellent. The soup was a mixture of pumpkin and another vegetable which escapes me right now and it was great. The prices were reasonable.... more
My eggs benny with cold smoked salmon and capers was to die for! I will definitely be back for supper one day!
The Portobello Burger and soup is always good..The restaurant is busy
so a reservation is recommended
I've eaten at this restaurant quite a few times now and have never had a bad meal. A couple of my favorite dishes are the Jumbo Sea Scallops-sooo tender, and the Thai Chicken dish(great coconut flavor) The baked spring rolls are a favorite also- they have spinach, goat cheese, sun dried tomatoes carrots and asian noodles-all baked together to make... more
Went to this restuarant as they had had good reviews and offered gluten free options.
in terms of price then i would say good. The meals are not as big as some we have had, but that is not a bad thing.
We went during the jazz and blues festival and booked up. It would appear to be a popular...

An update to previous reviews.
This is for a midweek dinner date for 2.
I would disagree with others about how this competes against other restaurants in Fredericton, mainly because it is in a class of it's own. It is neither a diner nor a genuine high class restaurant, but the food is as good as you will get anywhere...

I love the ambiance of the place...The lunch specials are good value. My favorite item on the menu is the salmon-one of the best salmon I've had in a restaurant. It's good place for a casual night date - not too romantic yet creates a good atmosphere to enjoy yourself. Great service as well.
This place was recommended by locals. I checked it out on Trip Advisor and it has great reviews so we gave it a try. The food and service were great and made a welcome change from the usual burgers and nachos type places that seem to be commonplace in the town.
Dollar for dollar, this is the best restaurant i've been to in NB.
Lunch is quick, and costs me about 13-15 bucks with tip.
Dinner the prices go up a little, and the quality goes up by a mile.
Blows the Blue Door right out of the water. Excellent food, nice atmosphere, great service at a nice pace. Our second time here will definitely go back.
A busy restaurant so best to call for reservations so you won't be disappointed. The service is friendly and prompt and their food is good.
My family and I are regulars. It's a pleasant, artist space with large windows on a busy and attractive sidewalk. The beer selection is fair and the wines excellent. The appetizer menus is as extensive as the entrees. Service is pleasant and fast, with the food coming out consistently hot and well presented.
clam chowder was fantastic, halibut cooked to perfection, presentation excellent, service was great. Max sugested I try a local organic wheat beer which I loved. Well done!
We just finished dinner in this outstanding restaurant. Our Caesar salad served with a poached egg on top was one of the best ones we have ever had. For main courses we chose mussels with cilantro lime broth that was out of this world and local salmon topped with an amazing lemon meringue. To top things off we thoroughly enjoyed... more
Best place to eat lunch in town. Well priced, best quality food and great service. Our reliable go to place when we go out to eat! Highly recommend the coconut curry stirfry.
Menu provided great selection at very reasonable prices with excellent presentation and our server was awesome. Deserts also were the best!, enjoyed the experience and recommend as one of Fredericton's best !
Had an excellent dinner here recently with colleagues. A casual space, with a great menu and talented kitchen. Their halibut was beautifully presented and perfectly cooked, soups were lovely.
Good service, nice menu, good food - recommended. The room is not very pleasant - sort of industrial, but that's ok. The restaurant is on Queen Street, which is pretty and interesting - go for a stroll after dinner.
I come here often and never have I had bad food or bad service. The price is reasonable and both dinner and supper menu are diverse and enjoyable.
This is by far the best service I have received in a restaurant in Fredericton. The personnel just do a very good job. Food is really tasty and high quality. The wine list is interesting, and I liked you can by a glass, half a bottle or the bottle. The tables are well distributed and you have enough personal space... more
Went with a group for an evening meal; no complaints about the food- well prepared and presented, nice variety. Among the better kitchens in Fredericton. The issue is the service model- really, restauranteurs here in the Maritimes need to go spend some time in Montreal or Quebec City. The model of assigned tables and the waitress-does-it-all model just doesn't work... more
My wife and I love to eat at The Palate, mainly because of the food, but also because of the ambience and service. I highly recommend the Lemon Meringue Salmon. It's out of this world!
The food is amazing here. Probably the best I've had in Fredericton. My favorite was probably the salmon, it just melted in my mouth. It's a little pricy for dinner, but the lunch menu is very affordable.
My wife and I go to this restaurant every couple of months and it never disappoints us. Great service and great food. My favourite is the beef tenderloin with shrimp, and my wife loves the stuffed peppers. Nice ambience in this restaurant as well, and the food isn't overpriced.
We had the opportunity to have lunch at The Palate Restaurant and Cafe this past week (Feb 2013). The warm atmosphere contrasted to the cold, windy day outdoors and made the seafood chowder all the more welcoming - not to mention, very tasty. As prairie dwellers, we take every opportunity to enjoy good seafood closer to its source and this... more
This is THE best restaurant in Fredericton. High quality ingredients used to make incredible dishes. The best breakfast I have ever had. Gained its reputation among food-lovers by providing extremely high quality food at wonderful prices!
