When we're on holidays in Invermere for a couple of weeks, sometimes Chinese food is what you're craving and when you've gotta have it, Oriental Palace is about the only place to get it. The food satisfies and compares to big-city Chinese food places, so they have a good thing going on here.
My family & I had lunch here whilst visiting nearby Kinsman beach. We were warmly greeted & shown to our table. The restaurant is spacious but the decor is quite dated. My family had the lunch special whilst I chose a tofu dish from the a la carte menu as they didn't offer a vegetarian option on their lunch special... more
Arrived place was empty staff was "involved" nice enough very dirty and poor decor. Food was average at best. Service alright. Decor poor. Most likely would go back if in the mood for this type of food. Price was decent for the portion size.
Great food at great prices, not the best decorative surrounding but the choice of food and competitive pricing was exceptional.
After being rudely treated by a restaurant closer to the highway, we decided to venture more downtown. We both ordered the lunch combo special, which gave 3 choices plus rice or chow mein. I had the dry ribs, sweet and sour pork and steamed veg with beef. When our meal arrived, the plates were heaping! The food was hot and... more
It was a wonderful experience, enjoyiong a sumptuous dinner late in the night with family and friends. The staff was very friendly, kept the restaurant open for us beyond their normal hours of operation, the food was sumptuous and price very economical!
Perhaps we arrived at a bad time (before 5 in the afternoon--we had plans for later). No matter what the reason, we were not going to be treated as though we were unwelcome at this restaurant. It was heartily recommended by a couple we met on the street who told us the Oriental Palace's ginger beef was the best anywhere.... more
Ordered pickup at the end of a day of skiing. Ready on time. Sliced Chicken w/broccoli was very good. Broccoli was still a bit crunchy-just the way we like it. Ginger beef was good too, not overcooked as it can sometime be, nice sauce. Szechuan Rice was good BUT when I asked what was in it the gal failed to... more
We only went to this place b/c we were traveling with our grandma and she had to have her steamed rice on day 2 of our road trip. Alas, we made the 10 min drive on the highway to get here so us grandchildren can have a stress free dinner.
To our surprise there were Chinese characters on the menu...

We were looking for a place for dinner and this city does not offer a lot of restaurants. So we chose this one. The place doesn't look very attractive but the food we had was great. It was very tasty.
We were in the mood for chinese take out so based on Tripadvisor reviews we decided to give Oriental palace a shot. We ordered to chicken fried rice, salt and pepper chicken, and shrimp and broccoli. The rice was good but average. The shrimp was delicious and the broccoli fresh. The salt and pepper chicken was the best I've ever... more
Ive had togo food here quite a few times ,,,, it has never been awful but it hasn't ever been that good either. I have found it quite oily almost as though they deep fry everything. (like the veg in the chow mein.)
Worst service in the valley. Many items on the menu are out of stock, but they will only tell you this 20-30 minutes after ordering. Staff are poorly trained and routinely have children running around while you eat. Our last time eating there we had drinks spilled on us TWICE, the server actually had a baby in a sling on... more
It was a very small buffet, but for lunch it was only $10.50. The rice was great! I'm a vegetarian and they made meatless springrolls for me, no extra charge.
This place was one of the worst food joints I have ever been to. The staff were either late for work or very hostile and unfriendly. We had to wait 20 mins to order our food, and we couldn't even drink the water. The food was alright, but the service ruined it completely
Since moving to Calgary we've struggled to find great chinese food - well we just did in a place we really didnt expect.
Surroundings are tatty and old but dont let that fool you, the food is fabtastic
We had sweet and sour chicken balls which were all chicken and just a thin batter - not the usual battery filling...

Always good hot Chinese food, Mid week lunch buffet a really good bargain and good service too. A good family place to go
This is as typical as any small town Chinese Restaurant. Outdated simple decor ---- pink table cloth, mini plastic flower on each table corner. You can hear the conversation in the kitchen kinda restaurant. Friendly owner, came out and chat for a while. Very down to earth. However, server was quite pushy. Maybe he was in hurry that day. Keep... more
If you are looking for a fast, but filling lunch this is your place. The food is very tasty, and is fresh since they fill often. Also great for the kids is icecream and cookies!
Been to the restaurant a few times and the Food was always good. Great seection for everybody.
Not a fancy place but the Staff makes you feel at home. After all it is a small town.
We arrived not expecting much as it was our only alternative as every where else to eat in invermere was closed (go figure small town). I was already on the back foot about this decision as i am a vegetarian and knew i would end up with mix vegetables and rice. The sever Adam was quite helpful and when i... more
I regularly order the Large War Wonton soup to go. It is enought for two people, so a very good value. It usually needs a bit af flavour added, so ask for salt or soy sauce.
Overall, though very good.
Went for the All You Can Eat Sunday buffet dinner. Arrived as it started so the food would be the freshest. Was average quality Candianized (think sweet red sticky sauces) Chinese food. Was told tea was included then bill had a $3 charge for it, which was removed upon notifying them. Bonus was the watermelon and ice cream.
We ate here while staying in Invermere in July. The service was good and the food was tasty and authentic.
Food was beautiful. Service was fast, friendly and Adam was funny.
the smorg is always good and fresh. If you are in the mood for a good feast and value
It was 12 of us at one table. No other guests around. Took about 70-80 minutes to get our food. There was another table that came after us but they got their food first, I guess they called in advance.
Great Chinese food. Over the past 4 years we have eaten there (too many times to give an exact number) we have not had any complaints about the food, the service or anything. Also great Ginger Beef and Lemon Chicken.
Oriental Palace offers these services: chinese, chinese restaurant, restaurant.
