The greatest asset of the Dockside Restaurant and Brewing Company -- besides its friendly and well-trained staff -- is its fabulous location. Nestled in the boutique Granville Island Hotel, Dockside combines the two features Vancouver is most famous for: stunning views and spectacular food.

This hotel restaurant pulls off some fine food to go with its great Granville Island setting and newly renovated mega-patio—now featuring love seats and sectionals for pre- and post-dinner lounging. Kudos for use of responsible Ocean Wise–sourced seafood, like the herb and pine nut encrusted halibut ($28) and the giant wild sea tiger prawns with caramelized garlic ($30). Also quite good is the chèvre and apricot-stuffed Fraser Valley chicken breast ($28). The wine list, though not long, has some thoughtful and well-priced selections. But the yacht-side location, with seating now extending to pier’s edge, is inarguable, and the service is very friendly.

Fireplaces cozy up vaulted ceilings, walls of windows and one of the city's biggest and best patios. Market fresh and Ocean-Wise (some still swimming in the fishtank-fronted open kitchen), simple tastes balance with a light touch, from delicate seafood chowder to honey dijon sauced Arctic char. Some great value local wines, many by-the-glass, and tasting flights from highly rated on-site brew... more

I was here for wedding. What a gorgeous menu! The crab cakes were so fresh and so amazing! The halibut was perfectly cooked with the most amazing potato side dish I have ever tasted. It was like scalloped potatoes that were fried in butter. The outside was so crispy and the inside was so full of creamy goodness! I had to steal my younger brothers because I just couldn't get enough. Next was... more
The view was pretty and the waiter was both kind and amicable. The atmosphere: freezing but it warmed up by the end of the night literally but not figuratively, sadly.
We ordered the squid (typical) crab cakes (average) and prime rib roast to share. The meat was fatty, the Yorkshire pudding flat and the veggies were plenty. It was all just...fine. I suppose if I was looking for a buffet type...

A buddy of mine was staying in the hotel while visiting on a work trip, so I met him here as I had never tried any of the beers they brew.
We went for the lounge as the dining room would have been a bit much for bumpkins like us. As it was, this was the nicest place I had been in for some time. Dockside gets full marks for atmosphere/decor and above average marks for service. Additionally, the...

Average food and beer. The food was not served at the right temperature - not warm enough. Our server had a bit of a snobbish attitude. The location and views are wonderful.
Food wasn't worth the price. Atmosphere was beautiful. Restaurant was beautiful. A little pricey for what it is as far as the food was concerned
What an Amazing Brunch! Amazing service. Was top notch. I had the eggs Benny with spinach and local mushroom, with crispy real potatoes.y husband had the burger was nice size and packed full of flavor lots of fresh toppings and a generous amount of fries. Will defiantly come back.

Ate here after 2 hours of SUP in false creek. We were slightly underdressed so points to the staff for treating us like we were as well dressed as the rest.
Fish and chips was great, portions were HUGE. Amazing cocktails, sangria good (I recommend the white).
What was slightly lacking was the service. Too long between seeing our waiter, we would...

I have eaten here before and had a good meal, but this time was a disaster. The food was slow arriving and we were not offered bread while we waited. We ordered two appetizers, but we only got one. The one that did arrive was cold, and arrived at the same time as the main course. The roast beef and Yorkshire pudding were dry, with no gravy.
To cap it all, the restaurant was cold. All the...

Nice place to have breakfast/brunch. Salmon Benedict is my favorite. Nice dockside view and always enjoy the walk in Granville island after the meal.
Came here on fathers day,
OMG is the view beautiful or what! I love their patio, its just so gorgeous here. One of the nicest patios i have ever seen in vancouver by far. Professional waiters!
We came here for brunch and it was delicious the food came out super fast! Will def go back here again
We had lunch on the patio and the views were amazing
To start we shared the crab & shrimp cakes - was delicious!
Had the halibut & substitue yam fries
I enjoyed my meal - very tasty

Service was decent - there was an odd hostess but maybe it's just me finding her odd...

It was a warm and sunny Sunday afternoon. That morning, we had disembarked from our cruise ship from our Alaskan cruise. After some sightseeing, we ended up at Granville Island looking for a bite to eat.
We got seated on the patio at our request. The brunch service was over, so we ordered small plates. This included a pizza, sweet potato fries, crab cakes, and spring rolls. All were very good....

It was a beautiful sunny Saturday on the patio. Ufortunately they do not take patio reservations but try to be accomodating. Service was attentive and well paced and we all enjoyed our meals. We started with the 7 leaf salad which was nicely prepared and a cut above the norm. I had prime rib which was perfect and my companion enjoyed chioppino which was characterized as excellent. Pros: Went here for brunch. Beautiful view and food was good (well, you are paying for it - $15 for four spring rolls!). Restaurant was clean and scenic. Decor was nice. Parking was easy to find.

Best patio in Vancouver! If you want a killer view, this is where you go. Service was a little slow but the food and view made up for it.
Went for Mothers Day brunch and they had a great selection of food, seated us quickly (and they were packed) and great service (Jonathan!) plus the Mimosa's for $4.95 was excellent deal.
The live music was a bit of an odd selection (steel guitar Cajun music) but OK.

We only stayed for appetizers. But the location was breathtaking. Service was mediocre, the server seemed overwhelmed. What we had for food was excellent and it was decently priced. The other entrees looked amazing coming out of the kitchen. Will be going back next time I'm here!!
I came here with a big group mostly family for an occasion and have to say was a bit disappointed.
The location is great with floor to ceiling windows giving you one of the best views of False Creek and the surrounding neighbourhood. The decor is very ordinary so nothing to drag about. It looks like the place has been recently renovated.
The service was great, our server was very polite yet...

Went to Dockside for a dinner-time family celebration where people arrived at various times throughout the meal - a challenge for any establishment. Not only did the staff provide attentive, highly accommodating service throughout, the food was excellent, and their attention to our group - including a 2-year old - made the evening a tremendous success. Thanks for a great evening!
I had my birthday here on a Friday night. The restaurant had no music or good vibe. The server was a guy in his 30s; he never bothered to ask to refill my drink. The service was generally poor. The food took forever to arrive. They also charge per person if you bring in cake or any outside food! How cheap of them when their food is sooo pricey!

I do not recommend this place due to the quality of 1: atmosphere 2: service 3: price
I would gladly pay more for great quality surroundings and food. But honestly this place felt like an upgraded cafeteria. The view can be nice when in appropriate seating area. Noise level is terrible due to tiles and poor sound deadening.
Had lunch for Mom's birthday. Being a Monday on a rainy day, it was empty. Plenty of parking which was nice. Usually I would have to make few rounds before being able to park. We stayed at the Granville Island Hotel so had breakfast here and it was very good both days. They have a variety of romantic seating areas outside around the fireplace and by the water. Great place to socialize.
I have eaten at this restaurant many times. The view and ambience of the patio is hard to beat!! The food is hit and miss.

We were two ladies enjoying lunch. The staff were efficient and friendly yet discreet enough to allow my friend and me to chatter away without feeling interrupted by the service. The roasted beet and arugula salad was nicely presented but seemed overpriced considering the tiny amount of beet it actually contained. We have been regular summer diners at Dockside but this was our first visit this year. From the point of view of its location and ambience, the Dockside patio is fabulous and the service is great. Stunning location with a great view not just in the daytime but spectacular at dusk and after dark. Many interesting choices on the menu, great presentation and very good service. Fabulous seafood chowder! Everyone in our party of 5 was more than pleased. Really enjoyed the un-pasta made with zucchini ribbons and delicious sauce. Great for late evening dinner. Gathered with friends for a pre-fireworks lunch mid afternoon. After a frustrating drive into the city it was a relief to get seated and a cool beverage in hand. Food was good, restaurant was lovely, but what you really come here for is the view of the water and the Vancouver skyline. Great place for drinks and chilling out especially in the summer. Also a great place to bring guests from out of town.
We enjoyed our dinner at Dockside very much - the food and the service were very good and the setting is pretty unbeatable. They have a good wine list of local wines, which we found a bit overpriced in general, but still enjoyed.
I gather with a group of former co-workers twice per year, once in summer, once in winter. Years ago, we used to have a holiday cookie exchange. The attraction here is the wonderful patio. The food is good but not great, the prices are not low but not outrageous. But it is a great place to sit and enjoy just being outside, without dogs or people bothering you for money
Met up with friends for drinks and appies last week on the patio. Had made resos, plenty of seats free when we got there (6pm) and our food was very tasty. Great ambience, service, food and beer! The sablefish and halibut were cooked to perfection. The legendary chili squid was not really that legendary but the crab & shrimp cakes and sugar prawns made up for them. Could have drunk way too many glasses of Cartwright Pale Ale.

I've eaten here a number of times, but must say this is the best meal to date. Dockside has been a local fave in the heart of tourist country! As a local, I've been going there for years for speak occasion lunches, brunches, work-meetings, cocktails, etc. The views are stunning. The food is decent. It was altogether a pleasant dining experience, with friends from another country. The only problem was the noise level, very difficult at times for those of us over 60. We did understand that Saturday evening would be busy, though and would be happy to return at a less busy and less noisy time.
We live about 10 minutes walk from Dockside and the food is reliably good so we often have brunch or lunch there for 2 or 3. It is always worth waiting to hear about the specials before deciding!
Wonderful patio layout, with public walk-way well separated from patio space (unlike a near-by competitor restaurant location). Nicely shaded - but not disrupting of view out towards False Creek / City. Food & Service was good. Enjoyed the pizza offerings - especially the Fig topped pizza. I will definitely return for the chili squid and would like to try the zucchini pasta next time (I had the halibut and it was very good but $34 is a cheeky price point, although expected since it's in a hotel). Loved the poached eggs with quinoa, arugula (can't remember the name). I'm back again at night in July for an artists get together. Looking forward to it.
Food is good; outdoor seating is great; very busy on a Saturday evening, so service was a little bit over-stretched. Still a nice dinner overall.
Great food, and great view loved it , was there for a birthday lunch
Outdoor seating overlooking False Creek, a beautiful sunny afternoon and a delicious light meal, what else can you ask for! A plethora of local craft beers to choose from (onsite brewery) is what. We arrived for lunch (at 3:20 PM) but unfortunately the lunch sitting closed at 3:00PM and dinner sitting was not till 5:00 PM. The in between menu... more
I always love my Dockside experience. Whether for a special occasion or just grabbing a bite, this place is perfect. THE PATIO IS OUTSTANDING...I could live there. And the food is always great...the duck I had recently was perfectly done, and I never go without ordering the Forno Flatbread.
The food here was absolutely impeccable. I had the trout chowder which was full of small chopped veggies, potato chunks and large bites of delectable trout. The grilled salmon with fingerlings cooked in duck fat was to die for. I requested rare on the salmon and it was done perfectly. Normally the chef does med so ask for rare if... more
I came here with a friend for a birthday lunch. When we asked to sit at a separate table so we could have private conversation, we were denied because we had no reservation, even though lots of tables were available. Our table was very close to others in a long row. We had to wait and wait for someone to... more
Sunday Brunch.
Perfect location, perfect Benedict with Wild Sockeye Salmon, very good wine list with beautiful bc wines by the glass, excellent service, good old fashion live Jazz / Soul.
I looked forward to breakfast every morning the week I spent at this hotel. The food is always good and fresh. I liked the burgers as well. Service is fabulous!
Came here last Saturday for a good friend's birthday dinner. There were 9 of us, and we all know how hard good service can come by for larger groups.
I had trouble deciding between two wines, and our server was able to make an educated recommendation, and provide a sample of each for me. I ordered the Caesar salad, and the mussels, which were served in a tarragon cream sauce that evening. Both...

I hadn't eaten at this restaurant in a few years and was extremely impressed when a group of 9 of us went there on Friday night. We ate in the main dining room, but I walked through the gorgeous patio area before the meal and that would also have been a terrific choice. The new decor is elegant yet not... more
It may have the best view in Vancouver (Granville Island). The outdoor area is beautiful and very posh/comfortable. The food is ok and may be a little more expensive than it should be. I would recommend grabbing a bottle of wine and sit outside, maybe a flat bread.
Claims the restaurant and I'm inclined to believe them. Located right on the marina with panoramic views over False Creek over to Yaletown. On good weather days, there's outdoor dining Ina very attractive area with gas fireplaces. I visited for breakfast while staying in the hotel (Granville island hotel) and was quite satisfied. The service was prompt and friendly. The... more
You really can’t beat their patio. Beautiful views of Science world, False Creek and downtown.
Not too sure why, but we ended up having two servers. One was average, and the other was extremely friendly and helpful.
As for food, the burgers were ok, again – average. But the prosciutto and fig pizza was extremely flavourful and enjoyable.
If you’ve...

Wife and I had lunch by reservation- good welcome - but after that service was mediocre -location on patio great -menu sensible as was price - to have beers posted but unavailable big oops for a brew house location. Great location though
The Halibut was very good, and the Caesar Salad was one of the better ones I have had.
The entire group I was with (over 20 people) enjoyed their meals.
The location is very nice (Granville Islad) ... Put it on your list and give it a try!!
The food is very good here. Lots of variety. Seafood, meat, poultry, pasta. Something for everyone. We were on the Lounge side. The in house brewed beers are very good.
We went to the outside lounge area for afternoon snack We ordered a beer, ice coffee, Pizza, all for $27. The view is unbeatable compare to some other places in Granville. Go check out price at Granville food court, this place is a good deal consider comfortable seating, good service and view.
The prices are high.
The menu too fancy.
Food flavours are too experimental.
Never paid so much and left so hungry.
Convenient because the hotel room was upstairs and the ambiance is nice but that is where it ends .
Service was hit and miss depending on who the server was
Dockside is launching new à la carte and group dining menus just in time for spring and sunny weather. Executive Chef Simon James McNeil has developed a series of new, locally sourced dishes and entrées in house.
Immediately appealing, the watermelon cream soda float (with a macaron on top) was delicious, fruity, smooth, and full of flavour. Bringing summer flavours, the albacore tuna poke...

Must admit I was impressed throughout. Reasonably varied menu (not overwhelming) with something for all. Prices were fair for the location. Service really was great - attentive but not overbearing. Would not hesitate to recommend. Chowder was one of the best I have ever had. Calamari was chewy. Spring rolls were plain delicious!
On a trip several of us met one evening for some drinks and conversation & to get caught up with each other.
The atmosphere was nice, beautiful location and friendly service.
Our waiter gave us a few free samples with our order, and was attentive, but not too attentive.
Some of the prices were a little higher than I'd have...

I was looking forward to the Dockside Restaurant as a special treat for our sons birthday. As it was a Saturday evening I made reservations for five back in January requesting a window table.
Alas we ended up in the middle just shy of the kitchen and in front of the bar. Our round table was sufficient for four but...

We've taken clients to Dockside for lunch and were very pleased but dinner tonight was disappointing. Our Cornish hens were tough, nothing like the boned Cornish hens I've tried elsewhere such as La Terazza. We ordered a nice red wine that was too warm. When I mentioned this to our waitress she informed me that red wine is correctly served at room temperature. This may be what she's been told... more
I Went there for dine out Vancouver and our table of four was extremely disappointed. The service was alright, nothing to complaint about. But for $90 for two people it was simply terrible value for our money. The appetizers were really really small which was fine, but the so called main,a pork belly poutine was laughable, I'm all for sensible portion size but two pieces of bite sized meat and... more
Some of the most professional servers work here which seems to be rare in many restaurants these days. The menu selection is large and we have eaten both Breakfast and Dinner here and have enjoyed both. Preparation is well done and the quality of ingredients are top notch. Most tables have a view of the water.
We attended the New Years Eve party and saw in 2014. Our party consisted of two couples and we were warmly welcomed by Patrick who attended to us in an amicable fashiony all evening. The service was good and the food was excellent. In all we had a fantastic night. The only off put was when some people arrived at... more
Sadly I write a poor review for Dockside Restaurant. This is been my husband and I choice of restaurant for Christmas Dinner for many years. In the past it has been a wonderful buffet. This year they tried a new set up with two buffets one for cold and hot mains and a second for hot vegetables and an assortment... more
Not much more to add here. Service was attentive and quick enough but food was underwhelming and pricey.
Checked in to the hotel just in time for our Buffet seating - and managed to get seated (and begin choosing foods) almost immediately. An amazing selection of hot and cold dish selections, right up to the desert and chocolate-fountain tables. Lines did grow longer as other diners made their way through the seating process.
We stayed at the Granville Island Hotel for 3 nights over Christmas and generally had a lovely stay. We had lunch upon arrival at the Dockside and everyone at the table enjoyed their food. I had the fig and prosciutto pizza which was very good although a tad salty (which considering the ingredients should not have been a surprise). Others... more
Worst service ever. Celebrated a friends bday and the server was incredibly rude and disrespectful. Even the birthday girl was utterly shocked at how much attitude we were given. When she spoke up the waiter simply disregarded her comments and gave us the bill. We were even charged 18% gratuity! Not impressed.
Great food, wonderful service, but after a three course meal and more than $300.00 for two adults and two teens we went to Denny's to deal with the hunger. Eat before you go to avoid disappointment.
Service was appalling and the food was mediocre at best. Expected a lot more in terms of service and quality of food given the location and price. Was there for a friends bday and they did not advise us beforehand of their policy of charging $2.50 per person for taking the cake out. I would not suggest coming to this restaurant unless you are looking for disappointment.
Poor service followed by a small menu with 4 items will leave you disappointed. Their online menu and in house menu is not the same. For the price you pay you're not getting much, including complimentary bread.
This review is for the Christmas 2013 Dinner Buffet.
Unlike other Christmas buffets which have open-access stations for various food items and allow patrons to ease in and out quickly to refill their plates, Dockside set up only three food lines - as in line-ups: one for salads, appetizers and the carvery, one for hot entrees and sides, and one...

I have been three time to the dockside brewery and restaurant within the past two years and every single time, every aspect of the dining experience has been outstanding.

From the location, to the view and great staff , this place is almost perfect!
Not until I ate my fish and chips; not one thing in my plate tasted good.
I normally am a food person and hardly ever complaint about any food but this one left such a bad taste in my mouth .
We took friends here for dinner and were very disappointed. When we first arrived the hostess took us to our table. It was round and placed for five when there were only four of us. She left without taking notice. We stood for a while wondering what to do. None of the staff noticed so we removed the extra chair... more
We recently held a cocktail reception for ~100 people in the lounge portion of the Dockside restaurant and we couldn't be more pleased!
The lounge itself had just the right ambience - sophisticated but not pretentious. Great patio with view of the water/inner harbour.

Food was not spectacular and m husband found a black hair in his pasta. I would recommend only ordering a glass of wine and enjoy the view.
I had the most amazing experience planning my wedding at Dockside. The food was out of this world, the coordinators were extremely nice, detailed and organized and the overall experience couldn't have been better. If you want to have a wedding that is not stressful, and you want amazing food have it at Dockside!
My first day in Vancouver, my family and I stopped at Dockside for a late afternoon lunch while exploring Glanville Island. Our guidebook said it had the best view in the city. Unfortunately, the day was overcast so we didn't get to enjoy the view.
Since we were there on an off hour, only the lounge menu was available (apps, pizzas, and burgers). I felt the service was a little pretentious,...

This place was recommended by a few friends. I looked it up and it had the perfect view of the water. We ordered the crab shrimp stuffed artichoke and the chili squid. They were not bad. Interesting ideas but nothing I would order again next time. As for the entrees we shared the sablefish and the beef tenderloin. The sablefish was delicious. Perfectly cooked (not overly done) with just enough... more
The food and service are EXCELLENT. Gorgeous views from the dining room and patio. This is the place to go for on a sunny Vancouver day to soak in the views of this gorgeous city. Perfect for a special brunch with Mom, or a romantic dinner and definitely when you want to impress out of town guests. Love the patio here- THE place for drinks OR imagine having your dream summer wedding here?!?
Went to Dockside for a birthday dinner, loved the view and ambiance. Very bad service, had to ask for everything we needed, took a long time for her to take our order, although our server only appeared to have 3 tables of 2 people. We were at a table of 7. Food was awesome, would definitely go back and ensure that our server understands our previous concerns.
Thanks for a great dining experience last night...my wife and I loved our server, the food and your amazing view...will be back!
After walking around Granville Island for a bit, we took a walk over to Dockside. It's located inside a nice looking hotel. This place definitely does not have a brewpub feeling at all. You walk through the nice lobby, then you come to the nice restaurant, and at the bar is where you see the tap handles. Dockside seems to be an upscale restaurant that features the beers of a behind-the-scenes... more
A classy restaurant that happens to brew some OK beer. Though the view is limited to a few table, it is georgious of the Bay. The place is modern and attactive to tourists, with a nice large fishtank. Very busy in an off-tourist time, I still got to sample the wares and the bock seasonal and the pale were the drinkable ones this night. About a 5-minute walk from Gransville Island brewpub, so... more
Having just left Granville Brewery right down the street and really liking it, I was looking forward to this place. How disappointed I was. Tried 3 different beers, the Hefe, a Red and Pale Ale. All tasted weak with little body and no head retention. Maybe a tap problem? Or maybe just poor tasting beer? Didn't taste the food, though there were a lot of people eating. There was a wedding party... more
This place in on Granville Island, right on the harbour (part of the upscale Gransville Island hotel). Vancouver has a lot of nice parks along the waterfront, so this is one the few commercial areas that you can order a brew right beside the water. So the atmosphere is great! The brewmaster has over 30 years of experience, brewing at various places around the world, so he has a few interesting... more
Went here on Canada day so it was nice to sit outside on the patio and have a taster set and a salmon burger. The beers are a mix of quality with some efforts such as the stout and the pale ale being very average. The pilsner is a revelation as IMHO this is the best PIls in BC right now. That is alone enough of a reason to go back. The food is pretty good with the outdoor grill cooking the... more
Whilst searching around Granville Island for some decent sushi, which is horrendously lacking in such a trendy central location, me and a friend ended up at the Dockside in the Granville Island Hotel at the recommendation of the girl working at the cashier of the Granville Island Brewery gift shop. The focus is on German style beers. Located in an upscale hotel on Granville Island which is also home to a large farmers market and many specialty shops, plus the Granville Island Brewery The beer is not bad, though a limited selection, usually only 5 beers on tap. The Dockside Restaurant offers superbly prepared classic dishes in a setting like no other. Located on the waterfront , guests can enjoy panoramic views across False Creek and the Vancouver skyline.
Spectacular views from the spacious dining room defines the charm of Dockside Restaurant & Brewing Company. Dishes to try out include Slow roasted Prime Rib, Grilled Beef Tenderloin and Grilled Wild... more
A little sleeker and more polished than typical pubs, this hotel establishment gets points for its Granville Island location and its microbrews, which are crafted on the premises. TVs and a fireplace add instant appeal inside, but the patio is, by all accounts, one of the best places to hang out. The large space offers sweeping views of Vancouver and the water, and it's heated when the weather... more
