The greatest asset of the Dockside Restaurant and Brewing Company -- besides its friendly and well-trained staff -- is its fabulous location. Nestled in the boutique Granville Island Hotel, Dockside combines the two features Vancouver is most famous for: stunning views and spectacular food.

This hotel restaurant pulls off some fine food to go with its great Granville Island setting and newly renovated mega-patio—now featuring love seats and sectionals for pre- and post-dinner lounging. Kudos for use of responsible Ocean Wise–sourced seafood, like the herb and pine nut encrusted halibut ($28) and the giant wild sea tiger prawns with caramelized garlic ($30). Also quite good is the chèvre and apricot-stuffed Fraser Valley chicken breast ($28). The wine list, though not long, has some thoughtful and well-priced selections. But the yacht-side location, with seating now extending to pier’s edge, is inarguable, and the service is very friendly.

Fireplaces cozy up vaulted ceilings, walls of windows and one of the city's biggest and best patios. Market fresh and Ocean-Wise (some still swimming in the fishtank-fronted open kitchen), simple tastes balance with a light touch, from delicate seafood chowder to honey dijon sauced Arctic char. Some great value local wines, many by-the-glass, and tasting flights from highly rated on-site brew... more

I was here for wedding. What a gorgeous menu! The crab cakes were so fresh and so amazing! The halibut was perfectly cooked with the most amazing potato side dish I have ever tasted. It was like scalloped potatoes that were fried in butter. The outside was so crispy and the inside was so full of creamy goodness! I had to steal my younger brothers because I just couldn't get enough. Next was... more
The view was pretty and the waiter was both kind and amicable. The atmosphere: freezing but it warmed up by the end of the night literally but not figuratively, sadly.
We ordered the squid (typical) crab cakes (average) and prime rib roast to share. The meat was fatty, the Yorkshire pudding flat and the veggies were plenty. It was all just...fine. I suppose if I was looking for a buffet type...

A buddy of mine was staying in the hotel while visiting on a work trip, so I met him here as I had never tried any of the beers they brew.
We went for the lounge as the dining room would have been a bit much for bumpkins like us. As it was, this was the nicest place I had been in for some time. Dockside gets full marks for atmosphere/decor and above average marks for service. Additionally, the...

Spectacular views from the spacious dining room defines the charm of Dockside Restaurant & Brewing Company. But the skillfully-crafted house brews are the real highlight of the place, which pleases relaxed diners immensely. A good choice for group visits, they offer regular wine and beer tasting tours. Dishes to try out include Slow roasted Prime Rib, Grilled Beef Tenderloin and Grilled Wild... more
A little sleeker and more polished than typical pubs, this hotel establishment gets points for its Granville Island location and its microbrews, which are crafted on the premises. TVs and a fireplace add instant appeal inside, but the patio is, by all accounts, one of the best places to hang out. The large space offers sweeping views of Vancouver and the water, and it's heated when the weather... more
