My family and friends have been going to Chiado once or twice a year since 1995. This has been the most consistently outstanding dining experience for all of us. We have done Winterlicious once but all other times we go to Chiado to celebrate special occasions for great food and outstanding service. Admittedly, we are fish and seafood lovers but... more

Chiado is a wonderful restaurant, and one of my favourite restaurants in Toronto. Food quality is beyond reproach and the service is impeccable.

Excellent dining experience

On Saturday evening my wife and I had the pleasure of dining at Chiado. We had a wonderful time..the food, the wine and the waiters were all great. I would recommend to my friends and look forward to going again. It was a great experience.

I found this place through Summerlicious. I was quite disappointed.
$ 150 for 2 people with 1 glass of house wine each. At that price, I anticipated a minimum of service.

The title says it all. We have eaten at Chiado a number of times, and there is always great food and exemplary service. Their seafood is particularly outstanding. It is our favourite higher end restaurant in Toronto.

This is our third visit to Chaido and it's always been lovely. Had the Summerlicious menu and the skate wing was fabulous. Service is always professional and efficient. Look forward to my next visit.

Good food, below-average exp

Waiter seemed knowledgeable and nice, but the pace was out of wack. Appetizers came in before we were even done with the aperitives, wine came after that. Immediately after came the mains. Basically had to chug a bottle of wine as they were closing for the night.
All in all, food was great but we didn't appreciate being fast tracked though the dinner experience.

I found this restaurant on the Summerlicious list of restaurants and it was a terrific find! The food was beautifully prepared, tasted delicious and lovely to look at. Chiado is without question one of Toronto's finest restaurants. Much less well known than some of the expensive restaurants downtown, it never fails to impress when we go. Very, very unfriendly. No one came out to greet us when we arrived.
My lobster risotto for $45 was ice cold and tasteless. This risotto reminded me of slightly salty rice pudding from a cheap supermarket.

Fish flown in from Portugal and they made a point to show them to you before your order. We had the grilled octopus, sardines, quail, and a whole fish (can't remember the name, but it is similar to a mediterranean sea bass) grilled to perfection. Exquisite seafood

Chiado is a great venue for Portuguese cuisine. They have valet parking right at the front door. The restaurant has great ambiance and the seating arrangement is quite good and private if you want. They import fresh fish from Portugal, as well as wonderful wines and olive oil.

Could find a table immediately on a busy Sunday evening. Had a tender squid and delicious grilled sardines as appetizer.
The waiter comes to your table and shows on a tray the different types of fish they have available that day. I chose a monkfish filet with piri piri sauce. The texture of the monkfish is meatlike and I enjoyed the fish. Service was fine for a busy evening.

We went for our NYE dinner and had a blast..

Extremely expensive so do remember leave your conscience at home with all the guilt you plan on facing the next morning...

Excellent service. Just as good as any top restaurant in Toronto. They have an assortment of fresh fish flown in daily. They place the fish on a tray and before you order they come by with it and a story about each fish. All fish on the tray are $25/ea. Some of them I have never seen in Toronto before.

Excellent food. As apetizers we tried "alheiras" and "sardinhas" and even if the first didn't taste like the "real portuguese stuff" they were very well prepared. As an entree we had "shelfish assorda", it was really excellent (at the level of the best in Portugal). Wine List with very good portuguese wines even if pricey.
