My wife and I stopped for a light lunch at this establishment whilst visiting Okotoks for the first time. We were shown to a window seat and chose from the menu mushroom soup and quiches. The waiter (owner?) was attentive and polite and the food was truly delicious - all home made! The atmosphere and decor was very French with... more
Thank you to the owners of Bistro Provence for allowing our 38 Girl Guides to come experience a fancy "High Tea" styled party at your lovely restaurant. It was the perfect place for our "little" group. The old post office from 1882 makes a beautiful, quaint little spot to have a wonderful time. Allowed us to get in some local... more
Wonderful authentic French cuisine. Owner served us and was very attentive. It showed that she was very proud of the restaurant. Her husband is the chef. Would definitely recommend however, the seating area is quite small. Quaint for a small gathering but bit sure if they could accommodate a large group.
Bistro is one of my favorite restaurants. Dinner is great quality French cuisine, and lunch is more casual. The food is always delicious and the owners are so fantastic!
The food was okay but the service was terrible. Our server was not able to answer any of our question and they took our order wrong so we had to wait for another 30min to actually receive the food we ordered. So total about 1h or so we were sitting there waiting for our food. Never going back again.
Great appy and dessert but the entree was just okay, too much sauce that covered all the food not just the meat
My husband and I went the week before Valentine's Day as we were both working on V. Day. I was really looking forward to eating at Bistro Provence. We were greeted nicely and taken to our table. The décor is very dated, circa 1980 motorhome. No tablecloths, the cutlery is all thrift store specials. There were only 2 tables occupied... more
I have been to this lovely restaurant run by a local couple several times and the food is consistently excellent as is the service. It is a renovated historical building so the atmosphere is unique. The personal touch they provide is very nice. They can accommodate small parties in a separate room. An excellent place for a business meeting or... more
We went there for our Anniversary Dinner and I have to say I just loved that it is an old house renovated into a restaurant right in Olde Towne Okotoks, very quaint, server was very attentive and most of all the food was delicious. Large portions didn't make you leave wanting more but filled you up. The owner personally came... more
The restaurant has wonderful potential. The food is absolutely outstanding with the quality, presentation and price of a high end fine dining restaurant. However, they really need to put some time and effort into the decor. The restaurant is in a beautiful historic building. They could keep the charm of the old building but also make it a bit more... more
excellent service and wonderful food , thank you. Duck was delicious and tender, sauce was perfect. My friends ha d wild sakai salmon maple glazed and Albertan beef tenderloin, they were really happy too. nice selection of wine and desserts too.
We have a family gathering for my husband 80 birthday, we all 14 of us where very happy , service, food drinks , and price was what was promised, and the desert a tiramisu cake was a delight , we will do it again for one of our next family birthday !!!!
My husband and I booked a date night here after a friend recommended the restaurant. I have to say we both left a little disappointed with the experience. They took our reservation for a Saturday night, but in all honesty, not sure we even needed one as they were pretty empty when we got there at 7:30 for dinner. We... more
Delightful little spot .. prairie casual combined with great food! The restaurant is housed in an old building ... a little disconcerting when you first arrive. But the warmth of the service is soon apparent. Our group raved about the avocado and prawn salad and the lobster bouillion appetizers. Every main dish was beautifully presented. Not a complaint amongst us.... more
Over the years, restaurants have come and gone in Okotoks, but Bistro Provence has remained. The food is tasty, the service top notch and a good evening is always delivered. Plan on a couple of hours for the meal. The menu is updated regularly and features seasonal products. You will not be disappointed whether it is an intimate evening or... more
Stopped by this wonderful little place on May 10 for lunch with my mother and aunt. I had found it on Tripadvisor before hitting town. Can see that we were not disappointed. The building was old and very cute. The service was excellent. As more people arrived for the lunch hour, the waiter seemed to know the regulars but didn't... more
Always had a great experience here. I have been to fancy "black-tie" French restaurants before and I must say the best part about Bistro is the casual atmosphere with amazing food. The lamb shank is to die for and falls off the bone without the need of a knife. The staff is well versed in the menu and is great in... more
Tasty real French bistro fare not to be missed. Decor and ambiance very basic , perhaps dated yet charming of old world cafe BUT the FOOD is FANTASTIC. As a local, I frequent the bistro for both lunch and occasional dinner I often witness day trippers from Calgary that fill the small dining area and myself have never been disappointed... more
Food is excellent and well prepared and presented. Lots of menu choice. Nice quaint atmosphere in a heritage building that was previously a post office. Staff is friendly and professional.
I have eaten at the Bistro Provence at least a dozen times. The owner loves people and loves pleasing people. No request is too difficult. When you arrive you have a sense that you are amongst friends and family and are therefore encouraged to sit back and relax and take your time eating your many courses of delectable creations. Took the wife for her birthday, Food was excellent. French cuisine. I tried the rabbit and was very impressed.
Love the atmosphere, menu is totally unique, qualified staff to help with wine and food choices. The owner keeps the establishment open till clients are ready to leave, no rushing. Building is original to Okotoks.
What started as a spur of the moment supper outing turned out to be one of the best dining out experiences of the year! The new owner was very friendly and hospitable, and the meal turned out to be even better than the glowing review he gave before we ordered it! Halibut was "over the top" !
You won't be disappointed, having been to Paris, I thought I was back there.
The food is out of this world and the service amazing
The Bistro Provence is an amazing place to dine out! A small, wonderful truly french restaraunt. You will not be disappointed with your meal. Making reservations is a must as more and more people are discovering this gem of a restaraunt.
I know a new owner has taken over but the fare is still truly remarkable [it helps to have a chef from Normandy!]. It is pricey but the quality of food is extremely high. We go once a year on special occasions; book a reservation otherwise you might be disappointed and sit by the windows and order dessert!!!!
my husband and I have gone a couple of times for dinner and we always do about 4-6 dishes that we share. Never have been disappointed and simply dream about their Foie Gras and Truffle Oil served with Tagliatelle - my mouth is watering just thinking about it. With a bottle of wine, 4-6 plates and desert our bill is... more
This is our all time favorite place to go for amazing dining. Ed is a wonderful owner/host who welcomes you into his restaurant. The atmosphere melts the stress of daily life away in an instant. Having frequented L'Petite Table for serval years In Okotoks, I was greatly disappointed when it closed down. But to my surprise and delight, the restaurant re-opend under new ownership and kept it's French cuisine. There is now a new owner who has taken the reigns and the restaurant is once again thriving! I went outone evening with 8 close friends... more
If you want food that is cooked from scratch with amazing flavours, then try Bistro Provence. We went as a family and really enjoyed the atmosphere and Old Town Okotoks. If you are coming from the city it is a short 15 minute drive from the south end of Calgary. What is nice is that you are getting wonderful french... more
Went a few weeks back. Excellent dining experience and amazing food. Will come again. Not too far from Calgary.
Authentic french cuisine. however, cheap photocopied menus, cheap cutlery (Savation army special), cheap decor and uncomfortable chairs. For the price ($360 for 5 of us) I want better.
