Poor Food and Service
I have been to Vera's Burger Shack before, at a different location. While on Broadway I was craving a quality, Vancouver-style burger. It made sense for me to visit Vera's Burger Shack at Broadway and Granville. Upon entering I was first in line but ignored for nearly five minutes as the two cooks were busy preparing meals for other guests. I did not receive any acknowledgement at all that I would be waiting. If I wasn't so hungry I would have simply left and visited one of the competitors burger diners down the street. But one of my favourite local burgers, the Canuck was only available here. So I waited. Taking the order was simple enough, and I sat myself down to wait. During the waiting period I visited the washroom as I always like to wash my hands before dining. The washroom itself was absolutely disgusting. While the main dining area of the restaurant was clean but cluttered, the washroom was filthy and I felt dirty just entering it. I knew that for what I had already seen they better have made my Canuck burger just to my specific liking. After several minutes the cook did bring out my burger for me. Strangely, it was considerably smaller than the other Canuck burgers I have had at another location that I frequent. With the same pricing but a smaller burger and a disgusting washroom I would entirely avoid this location. Not to rule out Vera's Burger Shack all together, but seeing this is a franchise I would lay blame to the management for allowing a well established Vancouver chain to fall below the standards of proper cleanliness, service and quality.

When a "craving for real burgers" strikes, these "consistent" "joints" "hit the spot in a big way" say fans who point to "plentiful" portions and "lots of topping choices"; add in "healthy vegetarian fare" and there's something "that'll suit pretty much everyone", so "zippo" ambience and "chaotic" service don't prevent people from "coming back."

Bad Bad Burger, would not recommend.
My first mistake was ordering the veggie burger. It was painfully salty and otherwise flavourless.
My second mistake was asking for dijon mustard and onions. Becasue when I got my burger there was NOTHING else on it but dijon and onions. The standard lettuce, tomato, relish and ketchup the menu claimed it came with were not there. I realized my mistake was...

wow sounded like the old ownership was taking the place down with it lol maybe Kenneth N. is right because the service i got was unreal, i just found myself on Broadway for whatever reason after an interesting evening at Kits pool (it started to rain just literally out of nowhere!!!) anyway i was hungry as all hell, so i stopped by Veras and it was right near closing i didn't know the hours, so... more

Wandered in here looking for a quick weekday dinner, and decided to give Vera's a chance. Prices were all a bit high, but not bad for the taste! They also have some decent daily specials on burgers, beers, etc. Would definitely come again.
