“Allergy relief through excellent naturopathic doctor.”

Dr. Amy Vacirca, Naturopathic Doctor
I had an excellent first visit with Dr Vacirca. Never been to a naturopath before, but I was referred to her because of my severe summer allergies. My gp said it would take about two years to figure out the problem and find a proper solution. Dr Vacirca gave me some natural treatments, changes in my diet and a detox of my sinuses. Not only have I saved money, but I feel much better. Thank you Dr Vacirca!

“Amazing & authentic Thai food in Scarborough”

Thai Angels Restaurant (Authentic Thai Halal Cuisine)
Wow, I love this place! So many Asian restaurants in Markham and Scarborough, but not too many authentic THAI restaurants.

Not much to look at from the outside, but the interior is very clean and the food really is authentic. The chef is obviously from Thailand and the pad thai is not made of ketchup. My favorite is the standard Thai red curry; hot, sweet and full of flavor. My friends went here after basketball and it was awesome having spicy Thai food right after a huge workout.

“Speedy & quality installation”

DJL Kitchen Design
Great experience working with DJL Kitchen design in Markham; they helped me choose the right granite countertops and kitchen cabinets for my condo. Installation was exactly on time as they quoted and affordable.

If you're looking for quality granite tops and kitchen cabinets, DJL Kitchen is a good choice. Plenty of choices in Markham, but I like DJL because they stayed on budget and finished the job on time.

“Best hair salon in downtown Toronto by far!”

One On One Hair
I'm very picky when it comes to my hair style and after 3+ years in Toronto, I had little luck finding a decent hair salon/stylist.

I like House of Lords but hate the long waits and stylists there are very hit and miss. Hard to book appointments and the good ones always seem to leave after a few months.

I found Stevhan online and his portfolio was impressive. My first meeting with Stevhan, he completely understood what I wanted and made it happen. He cuts hair without soaking your head in water which is so much more pleasant and gives you a better idea of what your hair actually looks like.

Stevhan knows how to cut and style Asian hair! Try him ONCE and I guarantee that you will be ecstatic about your new style.

“Best computer store in Markham”

NCIX - First Markham Place
I love NCIX. I've been shopping for computer parts and electronics here since the early 2000s when I ordered from their online store.

Overjoyed when they finally opened some locations in GTA and brought a QUALITY discount computer store to Markham. Great return policy and informative youtube videos.

“Wow! Simply amazing cupcakes!”

Sugarbuds Village Bakery & Cafe
I've been to two parties where Sugarbuds catered and I love these guys!

Their cupcakes are extremely moist and tasty and same with the cakes. I think the best part is the detail of their decorating; if you want a car cake, you are getting a full-blown, perfectly accurate car.

“Very affordable hardwood floors”

Reliance Flooring Systems (Hardwood Flooring Specialists)
Definitely the cheapest prices I have seen so far; must be because they are outside of GTA. Somewhat far to drive from Toronto, but worth it if you're doing a big reno like I am (and Pickering is just a short highway away).

They have plenty of luxury brands of hardwoods and paints with good prices. Make the drive, it's worth it and will save you some cash.

“Impressive showroom and advice”

Cartier Plaster Mouldings
I'm still looking for the right hardwood flooring place, but Cartier Plaster Moldings definitely gave me some solid advice. I'm lost with renovating and the woman here had a lot of good advice regarding my cabinets, colour and matching with existing fixtures.

“Delicious and good to look at too!”

Edible Arrangements
Amazing arrangements, especially their chocolate and fruit arrangements. Not the cheapest, but I would say they are worth it.

“Best roses in North York”

Best Wishes With Roses
Great deal on roses here during Valentine's Day. Bought a great bouquet of roses, flowers are always fresh. My company in North York uses Best Wishes with Roses to send gifts to clients too so I know they're doing a good job.

“Lovely flowers and decor”

Urban Eden Flower Shoppe
I love Urban Eden Flowers for 2 reasons:
1. you can buy almost everything you see in the shop
2. they make flowers look good - I just pick out the colour and maybe the flowers and they do all the arrangements and extras

“Awesome night!”

Hyde Lounge
Intimate atmosphere and the waitresses are very friendly. Great mixture of house and top 40 music. Bottles are standard pricing but the crowd is fun on a Friday and Saturday night.

“Amazing gift packages!”

Ashgrove Spa
My mom lives in Markham and I wanted something different this year. Ashgrove Spa is in the same complex as my physio and walking in, they seemed like a nice luxurious beauty spa.

I bought enough for a massage, facial and pedicure. Definitely not cheap, but expected for an upscale spa experience. She loved it which is what counts.

“Unique coffee/tea place in Markham.”

Great place to relax and have a nice tea and sandwich. I love how the concept is so fun and unique; painting, coffee and a social experience all in one!

I've come here with coworkers to work on art projects for team building exercises and love the atmosphere and free wifi. Definitely worth checking out as an affordable weekend activity or regular coffee/tea pitstop.

“Cozy dining and tasty Italian cuisine.”

Cafe Diplomatico
Great patio in the summer and definitely one of the better Italian restaurants in the city. I've been coming here for a few years and it was one of the first places I took my girlfriend for a date.

The antipasto and chicken parmigiana are two of my favorites and the parmigiana is the daily special on Wednesdays!

“Better than Guu.”

Kokoni Izakaya
Why is Kokoni Izakaya better than the other downtown Toronto Japanese Izakaya restaurant?
1. No line-ups or long waits
2. Slightly cheaper izakaya/appetizers
3. Slightly cheaper drinks and INCREDIBLE selection of sake
4. Larger portions! You will be full without having to spend $30+
5. Modern, lounge atmosphere

I love Guu, but I cannot deal with the long lines, small portions and noise.

“Wow, amazing prices on supplements!”

The Healthy Whey
I've only been here twice to pick up some glutamine, arginine and creatine, but they definitely have some of the cheapest prices I've ever seen on supplements.

They have both Greens Plus and New Zealand Whey which are organic proteins not found in most stores. Haven't tried New Zealand, but I'm a big fan of Greens Plus and I usually pay about $20 more at Shoppers.

Great choice for affordable supplements in downtown Toronto.

“World of difference”

Sushi O
Formerly known as Sushi Eaton, Sushi O now has a new name, new owner and new menu.

I love sushi (especially AYCE) but Sushi Eaton was horrible: poor service, slightly overpriced and fish was not fresh.

Enter Sushi O; gave them another chance and I loved it! Deliciously fresh sushi and a wide selection of all you can eat sushi items. Their bbq eel rolls are a must.

“Awesome haircut in downtown Toronto.”

Salon Liberté
Great price ($25) for a men's hair cut and style in the heart of downtown Toronto, just north of Dundas Square.

Most salons are overpriced in the area; Salon Liberte is modern, clean and affordable. The hair stylists really know how to make your hair look new and stylish. Perfect salon for a hair makeover (not that my short hair is all that difficult).

“Great gym”

Extreme Fitness - Bloor
Extreme Fitness is not the nicest gym around, but they are affordable and have a large selection of equipment (awesome cardio section).

I recently had a major issue with my membership. I emailed the manager and he called me back personally and took care of everything in a few minutes.

I've been a member for a few years now and the staff is hit or miss: some are great, some not so but overall it's a good gym and since there are so many locations, you cannot really make excuses not to go. Overall, equipment is modern and there are plenty of free weights around.
