I realy enjoyed The Social. I thought it was a bit small and crowded, but other than that I had a blast. They play really good music and the people that go are pretty interesting. The prices aren't bad and it is right on a streetcar line. If you like grungey places, check it out!
The first dance club to make a mark on the West Queen West strip, it continues to draw large crowds on the weekend. An eclectic mix of music styles is played, and a rotating cast of international star DJs is featured on Saturday nights.

Political statements such as Welfare, Allegory to The Death of Parkdale (as we know it) adorn the walls of this unfinished basement lounge. The social is a fun fallback west-end club. It plays house/electronic on main nights.
If you've never been here, given how long Social has been around, it is either A. you don't like electronic music B. you do not enjoy nightclubs C. you are from out of town.
There seem to be a lot of reviews written by types A and B. It seems unnecessary to write reviews of places that play music you don't...

A dark, loud venue of escape from the pretension and hype of the Queen West scene. People-watch from the sofas in the shadows or groove on the dance floor by the DJ booth. DJs on New Kicks Wed., $5 after 11 p.m. Retro and rock Fri.; electro, new wave, house and hip hop on Sat. No cover. Open Mon., Wed.-Sat.
Unlike some pretentious clubs with selective bouncers and scandalously-clad young ladies, this loft-styled venue is trendier than the typical bar and livelier than the average lounge. But The Social is neither a bar nor a lounge but both, and equipped with a bumping' dance floor. Although the venue is small, the music, the crowd and the setting embodies the artsy aura of Queen Street West... more
