Grungey - In A Good Way

I realy enjoyed The Social. I thought it was a bit small and crowded, but other than that I had a blast. They play really good music and the people that go are pretty interesting. The prices aren't bad and it is right on a streetcar line. If you like grungey places, check it out!

The first dance club to make a mark on the West Queen West strip, it continues to draw large crowds on the weekend. An eclectic mix of music styles is played, and a rotating cast of international star DJs is featured on Saturday nights.

Political statements such as Welfare, Allegory to The Death of Parkdale (as we know it) adorn the walls of this unfinished basement lounge. Above statement can be illustrated by the 905ers who may infiltrate this place on the weekend. A fun place to dance without abandon in your finest vintage threads. Outfits can be bought next door at 69 Vintage. DJ's DMT throw down mash ups on Saturdays.... more

Very expensive, yikes!
Went on a Saturday night and ordered 4 shots of tequila for $30!! And cover was $10...

Only redeeming factor was their proximity to some great poutine as an after bar snackipoo.

I just got back from "The social".

All they played were like the reviews said, electronic music. It was enjoyable for my friends and I because we're former party people, however.. ideally we want to hit back to the clubs on richmond, because after a night of dancing, we wanted to eat food.. except the only places that were open, was pizza pizza & house of poutine, which were pack.

The place... more

The social is a fun fallback west-end club. It plays house/electronic on main nights.

If you've never been here, given how long Social has been around, it is either A. you don't like electronic music B. you do not enjoy nightclubs C. you are from out of town.

There seem to be a lot of reviews written by types A and B. It seems unnecessary to write reviews of places that play music you don't... more

The Social Bar offers these services: bar.

Unlike some pretentious clubs with selective bouncers and scandalously-clad young ladies, this loft-styled venue is trendier than the typical bar and livelier than the average lounge. But The Social is neither a bar nor a lounge but both, and equipped with a bumping' dance floor. Although the venue is small, the music, the crowd and the setting embodies the artsy aura of Queen Street West... more
