Music to my ears!

There's always music at The Rex. Some of the most popular jazz musicians have played at The Rex and Toronto's jazz community still going strong. I caught a FABULOUS show on May 1st. I believe they were called the Trevor Falls Collective. What a great show! The vibraphone is an amazing instrument...really added a little something to the sound. The drummer was really good too! 5 stars for sure!!!

all that jazz

Being one of Toronto's few remaining jazz clubs the Rex has great music and an affordable menu. Great atmosphere to meet people for drinks or just have some dinner and watch the show. They also offer hotel rooms.

A real Queen West "institution", this historic hotel bar is a "fun place for jazz lovers", hosting 19 shows a week, ranging from "the coolest catz" to "old-time jazz" that'll make you "close your eyes and take in the atmosphere of years gone by"; you're "looked after promptly" by "friendly" staffers serving standard bar fare and a broad draft selection from which "even a beer snob will find... more

The busiest jazz club in the city, it presents two or even three different acts daily, 7 days a week. A casual watering hole lacking the pretensions of some jazz joints, it has been drawing jazz fans since it opened in 1951. The decor hasn't changed much since the old days, but the sounds here range from the traditional to the cutting edge. The Rex features the city's best players and sometimes... more

It's no secret that The Rex Jazz & Blues Bar (Queen & St. Patrick St) is a musical institution in this city. With 2-3 (mostly free) shows every day, jazz jams on Tuesdays, local and international talent and a fantastic location, this place is truly hard to beat. I try to stop in as often as I can. I mean, the coffee is actually pretty good, drinks are served fast, and the music, as mentioned,... more

Breakfast here is the best!!! A group of us came here after running the Scotia bank 5k so we were hungry and running on adrenaline. The breakfast was cheap and plentiful! The staff were also amazing as we got a bit boisterous at times. Definitely would come back and if you go.... You won't be disappointed!

I decided to check the establishment out after leaving a nearby jazz lounge, but I was never acknowledged upon entering. I'm saddened because it looks like it could have been a great time, but I guess because the band was finished, the servers decided their shifts would end early too.

The Rex is my favourite place for Jazz in Toronto. The bands are amazing, spanning a wide range of genres. I have enjoyed impressive Dixieland, Blues, and all the way to Fusion at the Rex. The key thing at the Rex is the music and the wonderful community and warm company. People are so friendly-I was talking to a woman who later introduced me to her father-the band leader-a coronet player. I... more
