great food at a great location and at a surprisingly affordable price.
"Brains, marrow and sweetbreads, oh my!" chant meat lovers drooling over the house-cured charcuterie and other "exotic" "delicacies" packed with a "remarkable combination of flavours and textures" at this nose-to-tail Eclectic atop Trinity Bellwoods Park; "brilliantly infused" cocktails ease the sting of often "excruciating" waits, while solid staffers keep the barlike space hopping into the... more
After opening to rave reviews, this city's newest hit is The Black Hoof, 928 Dundas Street West, and I was dying to pay them a visit. So last night with three companions in tow we descended upon the teeny charcuterie joint with empty stomachs and panache for some straight up meat. Warning: this restaurant is not suitable for herbivores (unless you're content eating bread and cheese for dinner),... more
Lots of meat. Variety of cheese. Plenty of drink. One cutting board will never be like the other. Local beatniks looking to escape the popularity of the Ossington strip will find solace here. Decor is low key (read: nothing is on the walls) minus the variety of butcher knives adjacent to open kitchen. Service is friendly and requests are customized and personalized. That cocktail that's not on... more
We visited this restaurant on our first night in Toronto and every meal after was compared to it. The seating is limited so we got there at 6:30 with no problems. The staff and fellow diners were very nice, talking to us out of towners and giving us tips on things to do. We ordered the Charcuterie, beef tongue on... more

But for me, this place is one of my favorites. Be sure you like gamey food because that is certainly a large portion of the menu. My girlfriend doesn't but she... more
The perfect spot for somebody who likes trying dishes they have never even seen on a restaurant's menu before, The Black Hoof is a trendy hidden gem in Toronto's Little Italy neighborhood. The restaurant serves tapas-style dishes that are perfect to share, and is also known for their house-cured meats. The adventurous diners at your table might want to try house specialties like horse tartare... more
Vegans and vegetarians, beware — it’s the meat lovers who come to this delectable haven to get their kicks. The sign out front says only “Charcuterie” in big, white letters, enticing Toronto’s carnivores with a promise of the fruits of various animals expertly prepared in-house. The short menu speaks to Grant Van Gameran’s confidence that each item is a crowd-pleaser. Bread ($2-$4) and olives... more
