This is another disappointing restaurant in the trendy downtown Vancouver area. Stepho's carries a reputation for having long line-ups and large portions for the price. Both are true, the reputation does not include great food or service. The restaurant itself looks nicely decorated and clean, but it is incredibly cramped and has a cafeteria style seating arrangement. Hearing about the long wait, my party made reservations ahead of time. Upon arrival we discovered our reservation was given away to a VIP. I was not thrilled at all. When we were finally seated, it took fifteen minutes before they brought us our menus or offered to bring us drinks. When our orders finally arrived we were all disgusted. The calamari was tasteless and had the consistency of rubber. The lamb was overcooked and the souvlaki utterly vile. No one in our party finished our food and no one brought the remaining food home. We paid our bill, left abruptly and vowed never to return.
Block-long lineups appear daily for plates piled high. There is nothing all that redeeming about the burn 'n' turn food or service here-it's a cheap eats and volume thing. Menu covers the usual suspects, such as spanakopita ($5.45); calamari ($7.95 for appetizer, $9.95 for dinner); lamb, chicken, beef, and prawn souvlaki ($7.95 -11.45); and roast lamb ($10.95).
Go early or "face a line-up" at this West End "institution" where "enormous" portions of "tasty", "authentic" Greek fare at "cheap" prices ensure "very, very long" waits; service is just "ok" and the "crammed" inside needs "some renovations", so a few feel "the best" option is takeout.

Excellent food, very good service. Mans washroom not very clean the hand towel had finished and was hanging on to the floor. Also very few parking spots at the back alley.
TERRIBLE SERVICE!!
Let me start off this review by saying that I have been wanting to try this place for a really long time. Every time I walk past this place there is always a line up out the door, so I expected it to be fairly good. Let me emphasize to you that this place is a HUGE disappointment.
We arrived at the door and were seated right away, the table we were at was not the most ideal...

We have recently ordered roast lamb dinner for take out. It was back to its former glory! Hurray! Fantastic friendly service as usually, and amazing food with generous portion. Super value for money! Highly recommend for both eat in or take out. Thank you Stepho's
J'ai eu la chance de rencontrer l'équipe du Stepho's = SUPER !!! Les portions sont très généreuses. La nourriture est bonne et de qualité. Soyez assurés que je vais y retourner lors de mon prochain voyage à Vancouver!!
Best greek food with generous portions and the price is right. Expect to be stuck in a line-up but it's worth it!
me and by boyfriend love it there! its awesome, really good food.
One of the city’s best dining bargains and a neighbourhood favourite. Menu features souvlaki, calamari and steamed clams. $. L/D (daily).
Stepho's Souvlaki Greek Taverna offers these services: restaurant, grocery store.
This spot draws a diverse crowd seeking a lively escape. The Hellenic eatery recently expanded to support its continually growing clientele, but it is still packed at peak times. Richly painted walls, dark wood furniture and light fixtures set the stage for a loud and social meeting place. The environment is welcoming and the servers are outgoing. The portions, meanwhile, are large. The lamb... more
