Yaohan Centre is one of the earliest Asian Malls developed in Richmond, B.C. Yaohan Centre still shares the popularity of Richmond, B.C. for retail destination while maintaining its uniqueness in up class shopping.
Fierce competition has made Yaohan Centre one of the cheapest places to fill your belly. Full-meal combos with rice allow you to choose three items from the heaping buffeteria steam tables-they're peer-standardized at $5.50 from outlets like Chun Hing Cuisine and Golden Rice Bowl. Variety is offered at Pak Tak Chiu Chow Restaurant, which makes an authentic spice-poached duck; at Seoul Express,... more
In the past few weeks on the way to other Bubble tea and Asian dessert places they have either been inside the mall or on the way to the mall. I finally got curious this week and took a tour inside and see what the fuss was about. I also needed to kill a good 30 minutes before meeting up with friends for coffee.
The primary focus of this place is grocery and bakery and less actual stores. The...

THANK YOU FOR HAVING THE CLEANEST BATHTOOMS IN CANADA!!! This market has everything, good food, good shops and free wifi. I love the variety of Chinese/hong kong goodies.
The best of the bunch (Osaka/Loblaw chains) in Richmond. Avoid the speciality cakes , breads, and pastries. While they may look good, they taste for the most part awful. If you must have carbs, I suggest sticking with the usual [staple] buns like bbq pork instead.
The mall itself is nothing stellar. Typical chinatown shops. Like mentioned by someone else, the upstairs is completely out of...

Been here twice but only shopped in the bakery. They have fresh and yummy items like blueberry coconut bao, taro bao and coconut bao. They also have savory baos. And all at a great price.
I love this place!!! I come here every time I go to Vancouver. You have to go to the supermarket and get some of their cold items that they make on the daily. If you like pig ear or all that good stuff most people might cringe when thinking about, then this is the place for you. You can also get some pretty awesome pastries here.
Also, I love the food court. Some things are ok, but if you want...

I arrived at the mall early and decided to park and wait outside until it opened. When I got back to my car, I found a "parking notice" from Imperial Parking charging me $80. It read "PARKED BEFORE 8:30AM NOTALLOWED". They claim I was parked at 8:14am, a whopping 16 minutes before the store opened.
There were maybe 6 other cars in the entire lot at that time of day (it's pretty quiet in the...

Food Court people were unbelievably rude. Huge portions so I asked for another plate to share with my wife. I would have gladly paid a cost for another plate but the lady mumbled some of the most insulting commentary I have ever heard from a vendor to a customer.
She was daft enough to assume I did not speak Chinese. I called her on it and she waved one of the cooks to the front to intimidate...

Richmond is loaded with great Chinese goods centers but Yaohan gets first prize.
It's simple. The food court has incredibly cheap and delicious options (the curry house is a must try). The grocery store boasts a big league bakery offering cakes, tarts, buns and sandwiches. Evenings typically see "priced to sell" options as well, making many things an absolute steal.

The grocery store is neat but the food court please don't bother. I mean most people stop by food courts for a quick bite so no ones expecting quality but this place is just horrible terrible disturbing.. The waitress charged me 18 dollar for a 7 dollar noodle and a 6 dollar meat soup. After I politely asked her why I'm over charged 5 bucks she said thats the deposite for the two bowls I'm... more
Wow Yaohan. I remember this chain in Singapore (where I'm from) 20 years ago, and I used to visit it a lot with my family. However, they have withdrawn from the Singapore market, and hearing this name in Richmond definitely made me super excited.
Yaohan is somewhat like an Asian supermarket, and we had a great time grocery shopping. Similar to Ranch99 chain in California, but much cleaner,...

Yaohan has a Osaka market (which is bascially a t&t.) I prefer this one to the one in Metrotown. Everything seems to be a lot fresher here.
The food court is awesome as well. Decent prices, authentic and usually you won't have a problem getting a seat. Best to come early though.
Got lucky today and got parking right in front of the side entrance. Came to pick up some body wash. Usually no luck finding parking here. Basically just an in and out stop this time. But I've been here to eat many of times before I discovered the world of yelp.
Anytime you get a chance to visit Vancouver BC. Always visit Yaohan Centre in the heart of Richmond No.3 Road.
This mall is filled with endless amounts of great chinese food. Also there is a huge grocery store that sells everything.
The food court is the best around and withstanding for at least the last 20 years.
Visiting Yaohan Centre is kind of like being dropped in the middle of a buffalo stampede. I am always surprised that I make it in and out of this store alive because I typically expect to be ran over by a minivan or have grandmas knock me upside the head with moon cakes. Its only redeeming quality is the fact that they have the best deli selection out of any grocery store I have ever seen.

The grocery store is ok and food court outside had a mouse running around along the walls. The mouse had no fear of being caught. It was minding his own business looking for scraps. The local authorities should close this place down for vermin infestations - do they do that here?
How do you rank this thing, based on one section, or on a whole? I finally, after a long, long, long time came back here with my partner to waste some time and decided from top to bottom, to walk the entire mall to see what has changed. The what, as in change, is the top floor, with the over saturation of 'Asian' influenced malls in this area, there is only so much money to go around and people... more
*This review is based on the food court inside Yaohan.
Great selection to choose from with all the different Chinese food offerings from one stand to the other. There is a total of about 10 different food stands here and they mostly have their own spin on what they offer.
When we last came here this past weekend, my gf and I ate here twice due to the convenience and nice selection they have...

This food court and supermarket center is really close to Aberdeen. Their food in the food court is more of the Panda Express/fast Chinese food types, although there are some specialty drink places, Hong Kong styled cafes, and some breakfast foods. The ones selling the chinese food all look very similar, and the prices are quite similar, too. I think three types of dishes with either rice,... more
I came here for the dragon whisker dessert and I got it! THAT made my weekend.
Aside from that, great food court and supermarket filled with good eats. My friend was able to find both the custard egg tarts and Portuguese egg tarts he was looking for and I was able to enjoy three boxes of my much-missed dragon whiskers.
There is so much to try here that I recommend it to ANYONE. You'd be...

(*review for the food court only) All my Chinese friends out there, you have to check this place out! I'm from Oregon state, how come we don't have a food court like yaohan's?! I was craving for garlic chive pie for so long and I had some at their food court! I also had Mala Tang (spicy hot pot), it's really authentic! Good soy milk and fried dough sticks too. Can't wait to go there again!
I would come here just for the Osaka market for the bakery and food. Very tasty. Occasionally they have taiyaki or roasted chestnuts.
Love this place! Lots of Chinese stuff. Food court food is pretty good, near closing hours are extremely cheap. Osaka Supermarket have a wide variety of food to purchase. Great bakery department.
Selection's good and all, but the cashiers' ayout, rudeness of shoppers, and the parking really sucks compared to Metrotown. Granted, it's smaller so probably contributes to all of this.
If there's any tip, enter from the other side, Hazelbridge, instead of No.3 Road, a bit less traffic but the same headache to find a spot.
I have been this mall over a decade. But, I never thought to write a review for it.
I used to buy my shampoo and conditioning on 2/F and get my foreign exchange at Kingmark currency exchange shop.
But now, I only sop for groceries shopping at Osaka Supermarket and I guess they are most cleanness and busiest T&T supermarket.
If you've just landed from Vancouver International Airport, Yaohan Centre is a great place to stop at, for Asian groceries and to grab a bite at its sizable food court. It's not too far from Vancouver International Airport, just over the bridge from Sea Island (where the airport is based from). We made this our pit stop to buy groceries at Osaka Supermarket, which has fresh produce, seafood,... more
I ordered the baked pork chop with rice at Sun Century Good Foods and I was extremely disappointed. The melted cheese had a weird smell to it and after taste as well. I ended throwing it away after a few bites, that's how bad it was and... more
We've been coming here for the past 9 years. We would always stopped by and get our currency exchanged. I love the grocery store inside, especially their deli. Their food court is like heaven (if you love eating Asian dishes like myself) and... more
A must if you're ever in the area. Yes, parking is ridiculous. Yes, the place is flooded with Asians. But the grocery market here is filled with hot bao zi, jiao zi, bread, pastries, everything! Fan tuan with filling of your choice are prepared fresh right when you order. So delicious and so convenient.
They have lots of super interesting shops on the second floor with a market and food court on the first level - they are good, do not get me wrong. This rating is ONLY based on my experience ordering from Fresh Elements.
Thus, RUN AWAY from Fresh Elements bubble tea/juice/coffee place!
My friends and I decided to order some drinks. We asked for a green tea drink, the cashier was like which...

Parking is ridiculous here... on the weekends, at least. I have to dock a star just for that, because we spent 20 minutes trying to find a spot, and the lot is fairly huge so it's just insane how long we drove around for. People can also be ruthless and inconsiderate drivers too.
But on the other hand, they have amazing little food vendors and a great Asian supermarket in Yaohan. It's usually...

Not the best Centre but there is free WiFi in the food court! Food court is also rather large. Mainly Chinese boutiques. The parking lot is rather large. Conveniently located by President's Plaza and Aberdeen Centre. Adjacent to the Centre is a place to exchange foreign currency with decent rates. Overall, decent place with mainly Chinese people.
The whole 45 minutes I was in there, I was captured by this thought: "There's a small mall dedicated to Asians!? " It was just hard to wrap my mind around honestly.
This place has a food court which I would give as standard food court quality. It wasn't amazing, but it was food. It was only cool, 'cause it was all Asian foods. They have a grocery mart inside and other little stores which sell...

Somehow, I always end up stopping by here everytime I visit Richmond. I think, wait, I know its because of the bakery they have here.

On the upside, they have end of day specials on prepackaged fresh foods. I got some dim sum sticky rice and...

This is one of my must stop places when I visit Richmond/Vancouver. The Osaka Supermarket is where we grab our stuff for hot pot, and also grab lots of pre-made food for a great, fast lunch or dinner. Parking aside (always a personal gripe) this place still rocks for Asian whutevah ya need.
I'm still wary of some of the ingredients in some of the packaged foods but the fresh veggies are always good here. Espeically for the mushrooms and the organic salads that come in those containers. Most of they time they're cheaper than what you pay for at Safeway. Usually because Asians don't really...

my family always gets grocery, or sometimes take out foods from here... when we are lazy :-P and the take-out, ready made foods are ALWAYS fresh and YUMMY!! even though we bought it at the end of the day!!
I am big fan of yaohan!
We had a quick bite at this food court which has at least 13 or more varieties of fast food restaurants. Prices are not expensive at all.
We also ordered a rice wrap filled with 4 kinds of food at your choice for $2.99 inside the supermarket (Osaka?) there where we picked up lots and fresh bakery items (T&T?) including many loafs of the square breads, wheat, multigrain, some with red bean...

This food court has some really tasty food but is supplemented with mass amount of MSG that leaves you thirsty all day long.
I love Osaka Supermarket; it has wonderful selection of fresh seafood and prepared food items. Everytime I am in Vancouver, I drop by this place to buy fresh sweet shrimp (amaebi) in the seafood section and their rice roll in their prepared food area. We went here specifically for the foodcourt... and man, was the food horrible! I don't even remember the names of the stalls we bought our food from... but everything was greasy and very unappetizing.

Just got back from Yaohan Centre. This place is a sure bet if you're not sure where to go around Richmond.
There's a huge food court on the ground level selling a variety of Asian food fare. We got there around 8pm, and a few Chinese stir-fry stalls were dishing out specials: a $10 meal fit to feed a family of four people. We chose fried rice, sweet and sour pork, mixed vegetables and tofu....

I love the supermarket here and all the little stores - we wound up spending lots at this place! I will definitely be coming back here on my next visit.
Love it here ! Though honestly, since we are only in vancouver for a day or two each time, all we buy are the made to order rice rolls. I get mine with black sticky rice and get them rolled with three different dishes. Sooo delicious !!!
I agree with most of the comments here. This has been a must stop on my monthly dim sum runs from Bellingham. After having an early meal at the Jade or another restaurant I typically head to the YC. I fill up in the grocery store then hit the food court. Favorites include a coconut and herbal jello drink at the tea shop, Malaysian fried rice at The Curry House, lamb kabobs at the eastern place... more
The Osaka Super Market has an excellent bakery section of various asian baked goods. The centre food court has japse/chinese/thai/korean foods. The chinese food court has a dinner special $5.50 four choices--and tasted great! Also, you just have to be lucky to find a parking spot.
