At the Windsor Arms, historic and new-millennium amenities are fused together to create a delicate balance of old-world charm and modern decadence. In fact, the building dates back to 1927 when the University of Toronto, with its neo-Gothic buildings and distinctive piers, porches, and crests were architectural marvels of the burgeoning metropolis. And that's exactly how hotelier, William... more

The Windsor Arms is a magnificent place for people who don't mind tossing out a few extra dollars on comfort and class. It's quiet if rest is what you like. And the restaraunt has the best steak I've ever eaten. Definitely a place to re-visit repeatedly.
With a guest-to-staff ratio of 5:1 and 24-hour butler on duty, the Windsor Arms places high importance on personalized service. Lavish suites have handmade furnishings, luxurious duvets and linens, state-of-the-art sound systems, and a different musical instrument in each room. You can dine in the beautifully appointed Courtyard Café, have high tea in the cozy Russian Red Tea Room, or relax and... more
Old-world elegance and Victorian style permeate this historic boutique hotel set in a building dating back to 1927. The Windsor Arms Hotel was closed and completely demolished ten years ago and a perfect replica built in its place, albeit with a condo tower sprouting from its roof. This all-suite hotel has a subdued, discreet vibe - it's the kind of place where you get the feeling that the staff will overlook your peccadilloes, as long as you got about them quietly. Rooms run from $295 to a $2000.
The Windsor Arms, tucked off central Bloor Street on a quiet side alley, claims to have the highest staff-to-guest ratio (one to six) of any hotel in Canada, and it shows. Employees are as courteous, helpful, and discreet as the rooms are luxurious. You'll find elegant mahogany or birch furnishings, Frette linens, and limestone-floored bathrooms with Jacuzzi tubs in each of the 28 suites. The... more
It is very fitting that this discreet property is located in between historical University of Toronto and trendy boutique-ville Bloor/Yorkville. This boutique hotel mixes Victorian tradition and contemporary luxury among its 28 suites, perfect for Hollywood glitterati and power brokers. I came here for high tea with my mom (courtesy of a wagjag deal). We arrived late by accident - believing our reservation was 30 mins later than it actually was. Thankfully they had exactly one table left that we were able to take. I had called ahead requesting a gluten free menu for myself, which was ready and waiting when we arrived. They had no issues with presenting me with much of the same... more
Worst Valentine's day ever! Thanks to this stupid hotel, its old creepy owner and its staff. I just don't have the words to describe how bad our experience was here. I really have no idea how this place is still in business. The place is old and dark, it definitely could use some renovations, painting, flooring, cleaning and most important, some customer service! I just don't know how people... more
Save your time and money. DO NOT GO!
What a horrible experience! The brunch was not worth $65/person. Although the waiting staff were friendly and attentive, the person who can only be described as the "owner" was a bit of a jerk...a cheap jerk!
I purchased Groupon coupons for $25/person (standard price is $65) for the brunch buffet. About a month before I wanted to go, I went to the hotel...

I really wanted to love high tea here. It's a beautiful hotel. The sandwiches were awful (extra tiny and bland) and the tea was cold. For the desserts we only got one of each so we had to discuss who was getting what or try and cut the already tiny desserts into smaller pieces for all to get a taste (everywhere else gives everyone the same dessert so there's no arguing). Not happy I spent $50... more
We recently stayed at the Windsor Arms Hotel. It was a wonderful experience. It is a small hotel with a great location just off Bloor St. It is so close to fabulous shops, restaurants and transit system. The staff were very friendly and most accommodating. Unfortunately we have not had a pleasant experience with this venue.
Don't know if this counts as a review of the restaurant but it's a special event, a wedding at the Windsor Arms Hotel. We went with high expectations and was terribly disappointed by the meal and the service.
The set dinner included a salad with a small cup of zucchini soup which tasted "blaeeh". But the most nasty surprise was...

We were recommended this hotel by friends who live in Toronto and we were delighted with it. The staff were amazing, especially Kevin, and they all went above and beyond our expectations. The room was spacious and luxurious, breakfast was excellent as were the gym and pool. It is sophisticated luxury in the heart of Toronto.
Got this hotel as we were in Toronto for a concert for the kids the staff was amazing they brought us to the spa to clean up while waiting for the room to be ready Lobby area was also beautiful
Great Hotel. Centrally located. Well maintained property. Staff learned our preferences right away and would make arrangements specifically for us. Kevin the concierge, the door staff, and the breakfast kitchen staff fabulous and attentive to detail. We felt "held" by the attentive, responsive staff throughout our stay at this sanctuary in the middle of big-city bustle. As Shelley put it, it was like "a smooth spot of glassy quiet amid those battling tides."
My wife and I had a GREAT STAY!!! The only thing to complain about was the smell in the hallway (It DID NOT enter our room)! The staff were amazing and the room was WONDERFUL!!! Breakfast was GREAT!!!
Excellent hotel. Very clean comfortable room, convenient downtown location and hotel staff is very helping specially Shirley at the front desk.Since we were new to Toronto She was always more than happy to answer all our questions:) and yeah I just loved their sweet treats at the night that they will slip into your room :) Will definitely stay again!
Our stay at the Windsor Arms was the best experience of a city hotel anyone could wish for . It was an oasis of opulence with the most excellent service from all the staff that I have ever experienced in all my years of travelling . The level of care and thoughtfulness by every member of staff cannot be surpassed , and the food was delicious . I cannot rate this exceptional hotel high enough .
We love staying at the Windsor Arms Hotel but we have to say, that this time, we were disappointed. Unfortunately the Hotel was hosting a wedding with a live band. On our arrival we were told by the front desk manager that they would finish playing at 11:00 a.m. and that we would not hear it in our deluxe suite. Sadly, at 1:00 a.m., we were able to sing along to Michael Jackson's "Thriller "... more
With my first experience with the Windsor Arms Hotel:
In mid-April, I had made reservations for 3 for afternoon tea along with 3 facials at the hotel spa.

I was looking forward to a lovely stay at a historic hotel that had pretty great reviews. Fantastic! We stayed here for only one night on our way through Toronto and wished we could stay longer. From the personalised service to the butler to the fantastic ambiance to the decor it was a hotel to remember. This is not a hotel to consider if travelling on a budget, however for a special treat you cannot go past.
I had heard really great things about this hotel from friends who had stayed there so I was very eager to check it out myself - as a seasoned traveler and a lover of all things luxury hotel. my stay was spectacular. the warmth of the staff.. the attention to detail, demonstrated on all levels, the intimacy of the place..... more

I recently spent a week at the Windsor Arms while visiting clients in Toronto. My stay was incredible. Their rooms are absolutely gorgeous, and have an incredible amount of space. Great place, restaurant was really good.Breakfast was good. Location is great close to the museum shops and the tube to down town Toronto. Salt water pool and spar are great and every thing about the place was immaculately clean and well kept.
We recently celebrated our 10th anniversary at the Windsor Arms and the staff was friendly, helpful, accommodating and thoughtful. The room was beautiful, clean and well appointed. The spa was peaceful (delicious cookies) and I had an amazing facial. We loved being able to walk everywhere. It was a perfect choice even though we live in Toronto.
We stayed here for our 10th anniversary as a mini getaway in the city and I can't say enough good things about this place. The service was impeccable and the room was well appointed. Thanks Kevin!
The experience was wonderful - beginning with being met by the doorman - to the front desk staff - the room was outstanding - the whole experience ticked all the boxes - well worth it - ENJOY!
I have had the great fortune of staying at many of the world's best hotels. Our experience at the Windsor Arms Hotel ranks among our top hotel stay experiences. Lovely hotel with 1st class amenities - indoor swimming pool with saunas and steam room. Location was good with easy walking to shops, museums and subways. Room was large and clean, but the heat/ac never worked properly during our stay. Also got hit with an unexpected charge for 3rd person in our room.
The staff of this hotel pays such attention to details that it feels like I couldn't have wanted for anything that wasn't readily available. AND more than one of them wouldn't accept a tip! This is the best of hotels in Toronto..old school class and distinctive furnishings. Very accommodating staff and extraordinary food and lodging. I prefer this Hotel over the Ritz..much more intimate hotel with a pelithury of character.
This should be a premier spot for Sunday Brunch in Toronto. The property oozes charm and at first glance they make all the right moves. Add in a superior selection of brunch selections (superior, but lacking some basics) and you have the formula for a fine dining experience.
BUT, they fall totally flat on service. Every refill of very ordinary...

Okay, I've been here several times for high tea and it's great. But it's not *that* great. None of the food is something I'd ever crave, though the strawberries and cream at the end make a nice finishing touch (how could you go wrong). Just a heads up, the scones are lemony, not plain.

My review is solely about the Tea Room. Service was an unfortunate combination of snooty and incompetent. The food was indifferent. It was grossly over-priced. I recently booked the Windsor Arms Spa for a group of 12 ladies celebrating a bachelorette, and looked at several spas in the city. A few spas had ridiculous cancellations policies (1 week in advance) and I was having a hard time figuring out where to host this event.
When I spoke with Heather, the manager at the Windsor Arms, she was friendly and invited me to stop by and take a tour of the...

Absolutely stunning property, quite pricey but well worth the cost. Extremely spacious and luxurious. Nice view and professional staff. I felt like a celebrity staying here! I would definitely recommend it to anyone traveling to toronto.
this hotel is a beautiful quaint little property. we came in for twilight tea and was blown away by the detail of their tea rooms. the sandwiches were hardy and the individual unique mismatched teapots were super cute. service was attentive and friendly. 90% of everything served was made in house from the jams for the scones to the individual sandwiches and petit fours. I was really impressed!
I stayed at the Windsor Arms for two nights. I was disappointed overall. I expected a very high level of service and amenities. While the staff was very friendly and attentive, there were just a number of issues that detracted from my enjoyment. First, you're paying a pretty high price so things should be excellent. The good: clean, large room and staff who seem to care. The bad: Bed was OK but... more
I stay at the Windsor Arms about once per month. The staff is always very friendly and attentive. My room is always clean and ready for me when I arrive.
I really like that the Windsor Arms offers a vegan menu with a variety of small and large plates along with desserts. My favorite items to order are the kale salad and mushroom risotto. I think anyone, vegan or not, would enjoy these dishes!

Exquisite attention to detail. Outstanding service. Very European: small (compared to typical American hotels), beautiful architecture, outstanding location from which one can walk to superb shops and many sites, outstanding wine list, menu. I didn't have time to go for High Tea but it looked wonderful. Ditto for the spa.
Oh yes, the Windsor is Fancy Pants! Walking in you think you'd stepped into some private upscale residence, or country club but it's this intimate old school moneyed type place of accommodation, and noooo I didn't come here for afternoon delight with hubby...I actually came here for a wedding.
I'd heard great things about the vegan menu offered from Prime (which is located within the Windsor)...

I went for brunch on Sunday w/ my friend w/ a daily deal voucher. I've been there before for Winterlicious and once again the food & service was exceptional! The staff are sooooo nice!
Very luxurious and well... you pay for it! One of Toronto's best.
My friend and I set up a girl afternoon tea date here on a gorgeous summer afternoon. We sat on their new patio, a cute little space enclosed within walls of ivy. The atmosphere was quaint and quiet- perfect place to catch up with a girlfriend or somewhere to bring your mom. Our server was fancy as ever, dressed in a tuxedo and...

Beautifully renovated, but still looks like the original. Very comfortable, staff were great.
It was a good experience. I liked my room; the staff was friendly; the breakfast was good; and the location was great. I would go back without hesitation.
My wife and I read the reviews before going, so thanks for the warnings but my grandmother of 85 wanted to celebrate her birthday here. She has such great memories.
Absolutely fantastic boutique hotel. Everything was perfect. Service is outstanding.
I love the Windsor Arms. It is a small boutique hotel in a great location. The concierge Kevin made wonderful recommendations for restaurants. We checked in early and the room was awesome. I will... more
The Windsor Arms was once a place I took my family. An excuse to get nicely dressed for a Sunday meal.
Times have changed boy!
The Courtyard Cafe offers brunch on Sunday for $50.00 a head. Sounds reasonable right? Don't even think about it! The King Eddy is by far the better choice in the city. In fact my wife laughed and commented that she would prefer Mandarin!!

All in all a very pleasant experience, and welcome change from the cookie-cutter hotel experience that I've become accustomed to. One drawback, from our room on the third floor, through our pillows, we could hear the incessant, rhythmic boom, boom, boom of the wedding DJ's electronic dance music coming from the banquet hall located on the main floor.
Fantastic Hotel! Would stay there again in a heart beat!
This review is for the Sunday brunch offered at the Courtyard Cafe.
Ambience: beautiful ambience, and the pianist really does add to the atmosphere of the buffet along with the high ceilings. For a hotel and price though at $50 I thought they'd have more attention to cleanliness. I found our table okay but one of the settings was missing forks, and one of the napkins wasn't folded properly...

The hotel is perfect and so is the staff. The tv was way to complicated to turn on etc. otherwise everything was first class.
It's a charming hotel. The room was comfortable and quiet. I slept very well. This was my first visit to Toronto. Tim was especially knowledgeable enthusiastic and proud of his home city Toronto offering excellent... more
I had a Wagjag coupon and went last weekend with my family. The brunch was decent. Not sure if I will pay full price for it. there is no doubt this is a 5 star hotel. the staff were very polite and any request was handled immediately efficiently and with care.
Phenomenal in every way. No complaints. Highly recommended.
My wife bought coupons on a deal site for Sunday Brunch. I was suspicious as to why they would need to go that route for promotion, but now I clearly see why! I feel even more sorry for the people who paid full price for this low-end buffet!
The Windsor Arms has a long standing reputation as a luxurious destination for tea, Sunday brunch, or a hotel stay.It seems however that the current staff have no desire to keep that tradition alive. At least not at The Courtyard Cafe Brunch where the service is completely indifferent, and food far below par. Brunch at the Courtyard is a disaster and nobody there cares! Our group of 8 arrived... more

This is a review of thier Sunday brunch.
The room was beautiful, I enjoyed the natural lighting, but I think that it was a bit too dark in the room for brunch. I think that they should have made it more bright in the room.

In a nutshell - pricey but luxurious.
I've heard about their fabulous Sunday brunch for awhile now so I was excited to finally come here with my sisters. The spread is vast from their buffet tables to their made to order items. A party every night in the ball room but no, you're not invited. Keeps the lobby lively and the quiet, quaint bar rotating conversations.
My only complaint is the the Jacuzzi tub in my suite is only big enough for two. The glass shower fits 4 but tub, 2.

Okay, so I completely understand how a bad facial can ruin the entire spa experience (read my review on Stillwater Spa for further details). I went to the Windsor Arms the other day for a birthday party and it is such a nice place. Not only was the food divine, the waiters and owner super professional and friendly, the room is absolutely stunning!!! What a beautiful venue to throw a special event! I have had an oxygen facial done here using a wagjag voucher. Let me tell you it's a waste of time and money going to this place. First of all oxygen facials are expensive and they seem to do nothing for your skin ( at least done at windsor arms spa). Secondly, the esthetician Anna although friendly, did not provide a great service. For $100 I didn't get bang for my buck. The facial was 30... more
Think twice before booking an appointment here. This place is a dreadful example of taking a chance on a place without Yelp reviews. Bad news. I mistakenly assumed that the Yorkville location would mean a cut above average, but what I got was quite possibly the worst facial treatment ever.

I'm not sure how I went through this much of my life without high tea. Now that I've been to high tea at Windsor Arms, I feel more complete as a person - no lie. The Windsor Arms restaurant is now a steakhouse called 'Prime' which is where 'Club 22' used to be.
As you would expect, Prime has a mostly a meat and steaks menu.
We tried the certified, dry-aged Kobe beef - the chef is Stephen Ricci.
The spa at the hotel is also worth checking out too.
Went there on a Saturday evening with 2 friends, but it wasn't busy. Maybe the fact that it's located in a hotel. Found the U shaped sofa seating of a row of tables less convenient to move in. Was unpleasantly surprised that the sofa was full of of "bread crumbs" , and not properly cleaned. Had fresh and tasty West Coast oysters and a rib-eye steak, medium but with a firmer texture than my liking.
My boyfriend took me here for our 6 month anniversary a few weeks ago, and it was so awesomesauce it's my new favourite tea place. We came in 30 minutes late for the 12:30 sitting (trying to find parking in that area on boxing day is next to impossible!) but we still had plenty of time to gobble down our snacks. We ordered the full tea, and were presented with a tea tray laden with scones,... more
The Windsor Arms Hotel tea room is one of the higher end tea rooms in Toronto. The hotel itself is beautiful hotel hidden away off the high end Bloor shopping hub. The tea room has sittings at 3:30 and 6:00pm only. Against my better judgment I took the 6:00pm sitting this evening. Of course tea at 6:00 pm is a bit too late unless you plan on eating dinner at 11:00pm however I heard great things... more
The service was great. The food leaves less to be desired. The quality and flavour no way matches the charge.Edible but nothing to rush back to.
I've tried high tea across the city and this is by far the best! The ambiance is perfect, the service is good (not too stuffy). Our entire experience was lovely. More importantly, the warm scones and Devon cream were excellent (better than Four Seasons and Royal York) & the selection of teas were wonderful. I took my mom here as we heard it was the best place in Toronto and it certainly... more
This is in a very special small hotel making it a comfortable place to go. The decor is pleasing with high ceilings and great architectural details, and gives the feeling of an old manor house.
Used to be my favorite restaurant in the 80's. Still nice, but has lost some of its appeal
Pricey, regular hotel fare. Still yearning for the old Courtyard Cafe.
We were seated in a corner with windows on both sides...it was the best seat in the house. The steak was cooked perfectly and my fish was tasty. I loved my cocktail - something I can rarely say outside my home!!
Lovely setting, food is extremely good, service a bit uneven. Best Mid week before 8.00 P.M. One must expect to wait even with a reservation. Wonderful location in the Windsor Hotel and the Courtyard has an extremely friendly staff, most helpful if you ha
Sunday brunch here is excellent. Classically attractive setting.
lovely setting but where are the people? Saturday night and we were the only table. Ah, a glance at the prices on the menu and it all makes sense. Fine if you're dining with the owner but steep if you're not.
Outstanding service and atmosphere. Wonderful food. A great hideaway.
I ate here with my Fiancee on a Saturday evening. The restaurant inside was very nice and the service was prompt and attentive. The food for a high end steak house I would say was average, perhaps a bit above average - but nothing over the top. I wouldn't say I would go out of my way to come back, but I would go back again.
Glittering chandeliers, posh building, and obsequious service - the stage is set for high tea. The tea itself was delicious, and the sugared biscuits lived up to their fame. On the con side, the rooms are crowded, and I remember worrying about people brushing things off our table! Some of the tea sandwiches were a bit ambitious for me, but if you like caviar, then go ahead. It was very... more

As a gift for a friend's birthday, instead of the usual drunken shenanigans, I arranged a gathering at the Windsor Arms for high tea. The selection of tea is exceptional (as you would expect) and the finger food delicious. I've had cream scones with fresh jam in the... more
I must say, I am a fan of novelty. As a technically "white" person, who comes from a more "ethnic" background, the notion of centering a whole evening around tea-drinking is about as novel as you can get. Apparently the Windsor Arms was THE spot for high end hangouts in the 80s and then it shut down for at least a decade. Now, reopened, it's managed to regain some of its former luster, a lot though, is based on nostalgia. Hi tea is totally a white people thing, and as a whitey, I love it.
