If you're doing an event in Halifax, stop here first. Classy hotel with a multitude of fine meeting spaces.
Great for events/weddings... nice simple rooms, but paying for outdoor parking is ridiculous, especially how much you pay!
Hotel is beautiful and well maintained, the staff were great! We would definitely stay again. Watch for internet charge, free internet at lobby but not in your rooms.
my favorite hotel in Halifax. The rooms are heavenly and the staff is top notch. love their pool and fitness equipment. take advantage of their sunday brunch if at all possible
TV didn't work, tub didn't drain so while showering the tub would fill with water. Not the cleanest
The hotel is well situated but a bit dated. the bathroomsin particular need a reno and the water pressure was pitiful.
Had a beautiful waterfront view with the docked cruise ships (2). Very relaxing.
The staff were excellent, from the valet parking to the desk staff to the room service waiters. The room was comfortable except for the bathroom: I have limited mobility and the siting of the toilet made things awkward. However: I had not made an issue of that when the reservation was made. We were pleased with our experience at the Nova Scotian.
We had 4 rooms booked, as we did not all arrive together the first group was told that only one room was booked so they up graded to a large room, when the other party checked we inquired about our reservations and wer told differently, also was told to park at meter parking on street in front of hotel, next morning had a parking ticket on vehicle.
Luxury accommodations but no coffee mugs? I really like it when i can indulge in a cup of coffee in a real mug. I needed to stay here for 10 days and this is my big complaint. Great pool and walking distance to everything. A bit pricey and some add ons to be aware of. Internet should be included in rooms.
I cannot say enough about the Westin. Each time we stay there, employees go out of their way to make our stay exceptional. This time, we were there for our anniversary and they treated us like gold. Thank you!!
good location. but parking extra. price is commensurate with the hotel
We only stayed one night, but it was so comfortable and relaxing. The staff was A1 - very pleasant and engaging. We would definitely stay there again in a heart beat!
Mostly clean and pleasant. but the walls (at least in the new wing) are thin. My neighbors came in at 1:30 am and were talking loudly and I could hear everything. The staff were helpful in moving me to another room even though it was pretty full.
All employees from valet, consierge, front desk, bar staff, and Tanya our maid, our room was clean.
We stayed in a nice, clean room. The decor is is modern and sparse, with a large flat screen TV. The price of the room was more than reasonable. All around a great experience and would recommend the Westin in Halifax.
Enjoyable experience at the Westin Nova Scotia . Firstly location is great. Great view of the ocean, and the cruise ships as they come in the Halifax port. Pier 21 is a walk away and via rail is next door to the hotel. Also the Saturday market is great to see halagonian artisans and the local farmers sell fruit and vegetables. What a treat! It's a quick walk to Starbucks and st Mary's cathedral... more
nice place to stay, King room was a little smaller than antisipated. bathroom was small with outdated wall tiles. the real issue i had is the pool elevator. constantly hearing the noise. i guess our room was on the inside wall of the elevator shaft. very noisy.
The hotel staff were friendly and helpful at all times and were quick to respond to problems and queries.
Nice place to stay and convenient location. A little on the old side but that didn't take away from it being a nice place.
Have stayed in many hotels all over the world and this place is highly over priced for what you get. $16 charge for parking in an outside lot? extra charge for internet in room. Have to go to lobby to get free internet. One robe for 2 people?, not a big deal if the room was not so expensive. Restaurant closed Sunday night. They call themselves a resort hotel and no where to eat Sunday night.... more
Older hotel, but has been nicely updated. Room was very nice. Restaurants in the area are good. Restaurant in the hotel was overpriced for breakfast.

Great place to stay. Friendly staff and made me feel very welcome.
I was quite taken by the grander of the hotel.A very historical piece of history.Nice staff and great beds. Did not use the services .Lots of emenenties close by for everything you need.My room overlooked the harbour. The only negative is the parking from $18.00-22.00 a day.Parking meters on the street.Parking in the back in areas were dark. Overall a nice place to stay.
I strongly believe that one of the car valets stole my wallet!
I enjoyed our stay at this hotel. It was our second time staying there. It's a short walk to the boardwalk and close to amenities. Rooms were clean and staff were very helpful. Would stay there again.
Our welcome to the hotel was great. Once the front desk found out we were on our honeymoon our room was upgraded and we had a beautiful view. Our parking for our 2 nights was also covered. Special thanks to Tara for tasking such care and making our stay even better!
We booked two rooms at the Westin because it was close to the waterfront and close to all the major eateries in Halifax. We had no idea about what to expect here as it was a quick decision to get an extra day to tour Halifax. Had a great stay here with my family. Walked to the hopper tour/dinner, walked across the street to the farmers market. Kids had fun in the pool. Really nice staff at the front desk. Would recommend the hotel for anyone.
Room was a bit small. Bathroom door was difficult to close when in the bathroom.
had to pay for everything including parking internet. Appeals to business people more so than casual vacation
Wonderful experience. Celebrated our wedding anniversary, and received an upgrade and bottle of wine!! Much appreciated!
I like the stay at the hotel but I find my room was not dusked everyday but other then that the hotel was a nice place and the staff were very nice and knew there stuff and very help full.
The staff were very professional and east coast-friendly. Our room was at the side on the second floor and we looked out over a roof, not exactly picturesque. We had to open a window because there was no cool air ventilation. The breakfast buffet was fresh, hot and cold, with much variety.
This hotel has a good location near the area attractions; however it is older and is missing some essential items in my opinion. The bathroom does not have any ventilation to remove vapours from the shower or other actions, the windows were small and the air conditioning kept the room so cold it had to be shut off. The staff at the front desk seemed uninterested in their jobs and were not much... more
Overall I thought my first stay at a Westin Hotel was good. All of the staff were very pleasant and helpful. My only complaint was I found the room to be small as well as the bathroom. This is a top notch hotel in a great location near the Halifax harbor boardwalk and many restaurants and grocery store near by. Next door is the via rail train and bus station. The hotel was perfect for our needs. We had 2 adults and 2 kids and we booked the room with two queen sized beds. The pool and hot tub were perfect after a day of sight-seeing. The room was plenty big with a fabulous large flat screen TV. Very clean and comfortable.
Tha staff were all so polite and welcoming. This hotel is a real class act. The location is great too. My favorite feature was the beds (WOW) like sleeping on a cloud. The property is so beautiful too! We will be back to stay soon!
Very pleasent experience. The hotel is located in teh middle of teh city, close to the water front. It is a good hotel, but to satisfy the great standards that is expected of the Westin Group - the hotel building needs to be refurbished.
Very clean bathroom, comfortable beds and great location! the bathroom could be updated but the hotel was clean, priced right and next door to restaurants, a grocery store, liquor store and in walking distance to the waterfront. The staff at the front desk were helpful and polite, I would definitely recommend this hotel.
Had a wonderful time in Halifax, lots to see and do. Easy walking city and the esplanade along the harbour is fabulous.
It was great, comfy , clean, breakfast was yummy.,friendly and convenient ...excellent staff....would stay there again... more
Overall, it was a very pleasant stay. Although the location isn't. At the center of downtown, its proximity to the farmer's market, boradwalk, and Atlantic superstore is a plus. The property is not as modern as the other Westins, but it does the job just fine and meets all the stanadards. I am very happy I stayed here.
Tarrah checked me in and she was great, very friendly, personable, great customer service. The room was quiet, with a couple minor issues that I would call a one off, once I notified a manager of my concerns they were dealt with promptly and effeciently. I think it is a great location, walking distance to everything downtown
Arrived in Halifax after an all night flight. Hotel let us check in much earlier so we were able to have a quick nap, before heading out to wharf. Everything about the area is perfect. we were there late in the evening until the next morning, but it was nice, clean, the staff was friendly, the restaurant was good, and we were very happy with our stay.
Shower did not drain well at all. The traffic congestion was not good at the entrance. Everything else was fine.
Great location to the harbor front. Room was spacious and very comfortable. Front desk was very helpful and courteous.
The room was good , service also we enjoyed the stay, only the fact that we were asked to pay more for the wifi , that was to be for free, was a disappointment , McDonalds and Tim Hortons can provide free Wifi , why was I asked to come up with more money for the Wifi , when my bill was far from cheap, for just closing our eyes and using no power at all............think about this and tell me if... more
I had a harbor view and it was gorgeous, I could see pier 21 from my hotel room. I was hesitant to stay here after I read the other reviews however was pleasantly surprised, the outside of the building from the rear looks dated but the actual room itself was clean. The rooms are a bit dated but it wasn't unreasonable.
We stayed there on points April 19th , The room was fine , but I wanted to say thanks to the mgr. & staff who returned our Iphone cord that we left behind. I had to call a couple of times but in the end it was found & mailed to me gratus. Thnks appreciate it !..
I usually stay in Motels or 3 stars but decided to treat myself. I'm currently sitting in their lounge eating a muffin and having a coffee that I paid $6 for. The Westin Nova Scotian is a great Hotel. It right next to the waterfront and close to restaurants and pubs. The rooms are spacious and clean. The restaurant on the ground floor is delicious and the price is reasonable.
Pleasantly surprised at the quality of this hotel. Staff were friendly especially the front desk clerk. Rooms very clean and nice. The pillows were great as was the bed. My only complaint about the room was the layout. The closet was in a poor location making it difficult to access. The hot breakfast was more than adequate. There seemed to... more

Every time we go to Halifax always like to go to that hotel close to the waterfront across there is a market and a big grocery store within walking distance and they do accept pet hotel offer excellent customer service
We stayed at the Westin for a night in Feb and had a wonderful stay. The staff were amazing and on Sunday's they're check out is 3pm! We did not feel rushed to leave the hotel after a late night out. :) The "Heavenly Beds" were also amazing!!
This is a Westin that feels more like an old, downtown Sheraton, the redheaded stepchild of the SPG family. In fact, all of the Canadian Westin properties that I’ve stayed in (Toronto, Calgary, Edmonton, Montreal) have the same 1980’s vibe and décor with a superficial facelift. I don't blame the local managers, it's a corporate decision to neglect these Canadian... more

Great stay at the Westin! Rooms were mixed up and the front desk team worked to resolve the mix up very quickly! We had 10 people in 3 rooms and the hotel was very accommodating, the valet attendant Lucas provided great service to us!
As always, the heavenly beds are heavenly. I always have an amazing sleep when I stay at a Weston. This one is tucked out of the main area, but a quick 10 - 15 walk along the scenic boardwalk and everything you need/want is there - plus you get your exercise!

The Westin is always our favourite place to stay while staying in downtown Halifax. Most rooms are very spacious and the beds are the most comfortable I've ever slept in at a hotel. The location is superb being within walking distance to most downtown attractions.

It is a lovely hotel with a beautiful view. Really enjoyed the location on the waterfront.
staff was courteous and was able to address my concerns in a timely manner.

The bed was extremely comfortable and I loved the robe provided.

Nothing, really.
Rooms are super small not as large as the one in the picture. Parking is not included which is just a money grab. Our room smelled like smokd and was a non smoking rpom.
Convenient location
\n\n
Bathroom was small and cramped; at 5'3" I had to stand on tippy-toe to use the washbasin which for some reason was very high. Access to the room was in a tight corner at end of hallway, difficult to get my four pieces of luggage into the room.
Lit confortable. Taux raisonnable pour la nuit. Franchise et transparence du commis à la réception: stationnemment gratuit sur la rue, et 15$ sur la propriété de l'hôtel. Et enfin un bon déjeuner chez Cora!
Hotel Staff are very courteous, helpful and gentle. Location is perfect.
Room given to us on 1st day was bad. But rest of the day(s) stay were memorable because of the courtesy of the staff(s) and swift action by allotting other room (Best room was given to us). Thanks to all the staff involved particularly to Mr. Allen.
\n\n
Room allotted to us was very hot during our first day stay...

Staff helpful. Complimentary parking and drinks upon arrival. They
charged my bb at the desk because I forgot my charger.
\n\n
Room could stand a little tlc. I.E. plug was pulled out of the wall and
hanging there by a wire.
All staf were so friendly and helpful
\n\n
Sound transmission between rooms was a bit nousy
Staff were excellent - when they heard it was our honeymoon they provided complimentary champagne and were very friendly and helpful. Room was v comfortable and view over port was great.
\n\n
Certain functional aspects (bath, aircon) were a bit below the high standards of some of the other features.
Its location near the railway station & farmers market.
\n\n
Did not like the dinner we had. Too much pepper and vinegar on the salad.
Location in Halifax was convenient to good restaurants, shopping and sites. On-site parking was a big plus.
\n\n
Breakfast was very expensive. We did not opt for the buffet but for 2 typical breakfasts of eggs, bacon, toast, juice, coffee and 1 serving of oatmeal, the bill came to $50.
I attended a school dance at the Westins Ball room last year and it was a very nice location. It was my first time being there and I couldn't believe that such a nice place was located at the end of Hollis street! The foyer is beautiful, the rooms are terrific, and the service was A-1.
Going up to the bar wasn't a hassle either, all off the staff was very nice and dealt with some of the more...

“Overall, we really enjoyed our stay at the Westin. Great location and good staff. Although, the Priceline cost was a great deal.”
“Enjoyed are staff, a little out of the way but still a great location.”
“My worst hotel stay ever! The hotel was loud and we were woken from our sleep by loud party who knocked on our door at 4:00 am.”
“ The hotel is very nice, however, when we were going to bed we could smell cigarette smoke, which was coming from the room next to ours. Not only were the guest in the room next to ours smoking in their room they were extremely loud, did I mention it was one in the morning. We called the front desk and decided to wait a bit to see if the problem would be resolved quickly, however this did not... more
“Good for what I paid for it. Would not pick this hotel at full price.”
“More than adequate. Room small, but clean & comfortable. Free parking in excellent location. Pool/ whirlpool could use some updating/ freshening up. Very friendly staff.”
“A pretty hotel with nice furnishings. I have stayed here before and I hope to stay here again.”
“Near down town, Saturday Market and next to a grocery store and Tim's. Quiet and comfortable. Had a coffee machine and a fridge. Dog friendly!”
“Rooms very hot and uncomfortable no AC although it was December and it was a warm week for
December. Excellent staff and very convenient location.”
“Perfect for a walk on the waterfront, close to farmers Market, lots of parking space ($18,00/day)nearby liquor store and Atlantic Superstore. Rooms were as expected, clean and updated, with LCD TV (32 inch)”
“Stayed at the westin , have stayed several times before. The location was great , staff were friendly and mostly helpful. When we checked in and went to our room, I was surprised to see that the bathroom appeared as thought, it had not even been cleaned. The sink was visibly soiled. The room itself although appeared updated , when you looked past the flat screen TV and nice lines you could see... more
“I would recommend this hotel for its proximity to Downtown Halifax, safe well lit parking, nice old feel atmosphere.”
“Hotel is old and therefore a bit quirky. We had gotten a room that had been smoked in so we had to switch.”
“I had never stayed at the Westin before and had expected a little more. It was a very noisy hotel and the night we were there one of the elevators was not working. The staff were kind enough to let us use the service elevator. The breakfast buffet the next morning was okay. I think we arrived to late to enjoy the freshness. Staff were very friendly. Location was a bit far from what we like to... more
“ The staff was on top of their game. The room disappointed.
”
“Overall,
I had a great experience, the staff that worked cleaning the rooms were very professional. Waitimes for elevators was lengthy at times, and my only thing
I would love to see is a breakfast bar of some kind. Traveling with three small kids the budget is tight and having some breakfast options, even continental would be great.”
“ Dirty water glasses left in room. Looked like the maid just threw the pillows on the bed. Loud noises heard in hallway. Fan not working in the bathroom. Bathroom too small. Beds too small. The room did not seem fresh and welcoming. Having to pay for breakfast and parking is an additional cost that is included in other hotels like Hampton Inn and Suites and Holiday Inn Express.
”
Over all hotel is wonderful, HOWEVER!!!! My confirmation said "OFFERING UNIQUE CITY OR HARBOUR VIEWS" My room was on the 2nd floor (3rd floor is US). If I stood on the back of a chair on my tip toes and stretched I could see the harbour. Front desk said the hotel was booked. I was only there for one night etc. My suggestion: GET A ROOM ON A FLOOR ABOVE THE 4TH FLOOR OR YOU WILL HAVE A SCENIC... more
“Hotel is in a good location, clean, comfortable and has restaurant and room service. Would use the facility again.”
The staff were friendly and helpful. I arrived a half hour before official check-in time and just by asking "will I get a better room if I wait?" was checked in immediately and given a so-called "premium view" room. The view was of the water, much better than it would have been looking the other way. So that was good. The room itself was fine, the bed comfortable, furniture nice enough. No... more
“The price was right, but the room was terrible. We traveled 2 hrs to have a great nights sleep and this was a terrible room- location beside elevator. And one Queen size bed. “I was very pleased with my bid and the quality of this hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I would definitely do it all over again.”
“Very comfortable hotel in super location. We would happily return.”
“ The lobby was fine. The staff was fine. We couldn't get a king bed or queen bed. They put us in what seemed like the basement with a king Murphy bed. My husband was not impressed. We could have had a room with 2 double beds but that was not suitable. We don't have that at home so why would I pay $ a night to be uncomfortable.
”
My daughter is considering Dalhousie University. This was our first trip to Halifax - but won't be our last. The location of the hotel plus the amenities and ease of access helped to make this a trip worth repeating - regardless of her ultimate decision. My only complaint would be the size of the beds. All 3 of us are close to 6" tall. 2 double beds are not big enough for any of us to share.
“We enjoyed staying at the Weston, an old railway hotel, but nicely refurbished and modernized. The staff was very friendly and competent, and we were given a 25% discount for the restaurant. We enjoyed eating in and had a fine meal in a relaxed atmosphere.”
“ While the room was nice the service at the hotel was terrible. When we got there my partner and I were not explained about any features with our room such as the pool, where it was or if we even had access to it or the restaurant available or even where the elevator was. They even snickered at us when they saw us go the wrong way. Furthermore, the neighbors were extremely loud at 2:30 in the... more
“Overall good experience. Concierge, although efficient, did not go beyond what was necessary to help with inquiries.”
“We stayed here for our wedding. They upgraded our room as we needed for our 2 year old and a regular sized room would be too small. We had a great stay at the Westin.”
“ It was fabulous! $4.50 for our coffees each day when it was free in our room to make, as you know you can't make your own coffee as good as someone else could. I know this is a very small thing, but I really like the small things! Coffee should be free for guest! Wonderful stay and would certainly stay again and again! ”
“Great location, rooms were clean, had to pay $18.00 for parking then extra for a room with 2 beds.”
“Older hotel that is trying hard. Good value if you can get it for low price.”
“In general we like this hotel, the rooms are big, but the hotel staff.service is slow at times.”
“Great place to stay, clean rooms, and
excellent service.”
“Overall, we liked our stay at the Westin Nova Scotian and would like to stay there again some time. Thank You.
”
“The room was very comfortable, the linen of the beds were of a high quality. It is very quiet and I like the idea of a separate elevator for the guests who use the pool. I did not like to be charge for local calls.”
“A very pleasant, inviting hotel, with historical references. One of the drawing cards was free parking, which was important as it is not centrally located. I have stayed here several times through Hotwire and always had a much larger room than this time.”
“I arrived at the hotel on Wednesday evening. Upon check in, I was told I had been booked in the "Vice regal sweet", which unfortunately only had a pull out coach for a bed. I was offered a roll away bed, which was essentially a cot, and was not better. I essentially did not sleep this night, and it really had a detrimental effect on my stay.”
Enjoyable stay in a nice part of Halifax not far from the city center.Good bar food.
“It is apparent they have tried to renovate the hotel to give it a more modern feel. The linens, decor, and style were welcoming, bright, and clean. We were traveling with 3 children (3 and under) - the rooms are cozy and felt quite cramped even with out boys sitting quietly watching television. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. This a very old but well maintained hotel on a par with Marriott. Marriott was sold out and I selected this. I'm not into old. I like new, polished and all of the latest... While everything has been updated it is still old with small rooms and a very small bathroom. While nice, I would not make this my first choice on a return visit. If you like old and updated. This is your place.
“Worst Westin I have ever stayed in for cleanliness and efficiency.”
“Overall, excellent hotel, very accommodating, didn't appreciate that we had to pay for parking.”
“Great spot, nice rooms, pool and hot tub really nice and clean.”
“The room (2 double beds) was very small. The bathroom and decor in general is quite dated. It was very noisy (near our room anyway). Partying went on until at least 5am. Our "harbour view" was a window overlooking the roof of another section of the hotel on which rain water had pooled. The pool was very noisy, no towels left. The hot tub, while very hot, did not have the jets working. Also, it... more
Great location nice rooms. Shower wouldnt stay on but all in all a good stay.
“Great staff, nice room with comfortable surroundings.”
“Overall, a nice hotel but I would probably not book there again. Our room was quite small, it was a bit out of the way for downtown activities, overpriced for room extras like bottled water - $5.95 / bottle.”
“Over all the Hotel was great other than the window in my room.”
“ Parking $18 to self park $ 21 for valet. You can park in the via rail parking lot next door, a lot cheaper. Hotel wasn't full as April is off season for the Mari times. ”
The rooms are a little small, but other than that the hotel is first rate. The public areas (lobby, [excellent] bar, restaurant) are excellent. Friendly, helpful staff. Buffet breakfast excellent, especially for the price, which is usually higher for a hotel of this class. While located a little south of the main downtown, it is an easy 10 minute walk to the heart of things. The Henry... more

For two international travellers Westin was a great location for us, easy to access from the airport and the friendliness and quality of service from all the staff we dealt with was excellent. 10 out of 10. Our room was very comfortable and the bathroom spotless. We enjoyed our stay and this was certainly helped by the advice and help we received in deciding where to visit and what to do... more
This hotel has a great ball room. I've attended some events and they went nice and smooth. The hallways were tidy and clean and the staff were friendly. I'd love to stay in one of the hotels some day.
I was so disappointed in this hotel. Our phone didn't work and was never fixed. When asked about internet we were assured it was available but didn't mention it cost 10$ a day. Making coffee in your room - sure, but must use the bottled water left for you and it costs 4.50$ per bottle. Hidden costs galore AND the toilet paper is one-ply sandpaper. The only friendly staff member was our valet.... more
Had the buffet breakfast and dinner both were very good. The staff were very helpful our dinner was a little slow coming so they brought us a plate of brochette on the house. The room was bright and clean the water pressure in the shower however was real bad. Overall we enjoyed the hotel and would stay there again.
I found this hotel served my purpose of waiting for my cruise ship's departure. The room was quiet, clean and the beds were very comfortable. I wish I had known earlier about the transportation service into the middle of town. I had to "discover it," as well as, the free computer use service. The hotel could use a few more of those computers.
Good service and location. Parking is $18 per day.
The location was very good within walking distance of major attractions of the city. Staff were very friendly and knowledgeable about places nearby to eat. Rooms were clean, beds were very comfortable. We could hear phone conversations from very loud people from one room and noisy children past midnight in the other room.
Don't you think the contact telephone should be mentioned somewhere loud and clear right upfront. I have been scouring your website for the past 20 minutes for a phone number and nothing. Zippo!!!!
Awesome hotel with friendly staff.Prime location to get to anywhere in Halifax.Quite and comfortable. The hotel restaurant, "Elements", has an awesome menu as well!
Arrived late and ordered room service--wonderful seafood chowder, delivered promptly. Beds were very comfortable. All the amenities from thick towels to the leaf-shaped soap. Having a room with a harborview was a big plus. We discovered that we had left a valuable camera behind. When we later returned to claim it the staff refused to accept a gratuity, saying that it was just part of their... more

Probably the worst Hotel we have ever stayed in. Checked in on Saturday night after being on a plane all day. We enjoyed our stay at Westin Nova Scotian. The beds were particularly comfortable, and the housekeeping staff were excellent. The mints left for us were a nice touch. The Westin Nova Scotian is a short walk from downtown and quite close to Pier 21. The room was quite comfortable, albeit small, and the staff were quite accomdoating. Our onlty real complaint is that the pool and hot tub were quite dirty.
when i arrived the 1st room they gave me had water all over the floor from a storm, the second room i got had been trashed by hockey players months b4 and it wasn't fixed there was holes in the wall and pictures where miss and the lamp shade had a burn marks in it, and then the secong room we got had pee all over the seat. i called the manger of the hotel when i got back and i was told i was... more
I just got back and my view of this place is clouded by the cost. All those hidden charges, it's not funny now that the Canadian dollar is so strong. The restaurant Elements is just okay; there are not any first-rate restaurants in Halifax, and yet some do dare to exhibit perhaps a hint of pretension, for example Elements describes itself as "upcasual dining", which is a dumb word coining. But... more
I have stayed at this hotel on numerous occasions. It is an Historic Landmark in Halifax so they are passing off nothing. It is accross from Cornwalis Park, attahced to teh Train Station and the hotel is over 100 years old. We often host confrences there and the Catering Services is second to none in Halifax. I can't say that I disliked anything abou this hotel. I found the men at the front door very helpful and pleasent, they were down to earth and friendly without having their hands out for money every time you turn around. Front deak attendants were also very pleasent and gave great service. All and all, best hotel in halifax!
Loved the location, downtown Halifax on the waterfront. Charming hotel with great staff that can't do enough for you. Can't wait to come back!
We chose to stay at the Nova Scotian because you can't beat it's location. We wanted to visit Pier 21 and the hotel is right across the road. The waterfront is a short walk away as are all downtown attracations - Maritime Museum, Citadel, Casino, etc. The rooms were nice especially the "Heavenly Beds and Showers" that Westin is known for and the room was very clean in our experience. Avoid this place like the plague. It's a beat-up old hotel which is about 50 years past its prime and now it's being passed off as "historic." For those used to Westin comfort and style, you're better off at the Four Points down the block. The location was great (near Water's Edge), had good access to city core but when we got home we found our visa charged $5.00 for a bottle of water which we found on the table as we arrived, labelled "complimentary".
