Love this corner store grocer. It carries an abundance of variety in produce and groceries. Never disappoints! Flowers are always fresh and great prices! Friendly and helpful staff. Brings back childhood memories of my neighborhood corner store growing up.
Even better than a T&T, as they carry Mexican and Mediterranean products too.
Store is separated into produce on the left and most of the front, and everything else in the far right room. Some organic choices too.
Brings back good memories of bachelor days in West End.
Lotto available too.
Friendly service, guessing Korean workers, fluent English.
Glad they accept Amex now.
Love this market. Fruits and veggies are super cheap, good well priced selection of meat and some* fish (nothing fancy like Tilapia in coconut, but they have salmon, sometimes tuna, always shrimp and scallops). Decent gluten free cookies from a bakery, gluten free bread, mini half loafs of bread, small but good soup selection (better selection for broths); also carry brands like Amy's soups... more
Good little market for small items
They have decent coffee, good selection of fruit/vegetables
Plus, a lot of ethnic sauces/items
Recommend the apple pie slices(bakery area)
Easy to get in and get out with what you need
It seems like this place has changed over the past several months. They've added fresh flowers, and a few other things. The cashiers I've dealt with recently have been friendly & helpful. (Perhaps I just happened to catch them on an off day before). Overall a great little market with excellent variety.
Having lived in NYCity, this is just another regular mom-and-pop shop (Asian) that sells interesting and unique ethnic foods and other products. The produce is fresh, though price is comparable to major supermarkets nearby. This store fits in well with the spirit of the surrounding neighborhood, and I wouldn't mind stopping by to pick up a few pieces of fresh produce once in a while when I pass... more
Great for produce, the best for cereal, never ever buy meat here. I used to love getting groceries here when I could during the day, now I end up only being able to get here between 4:30-6:00 and it is horrible. This market has the worst checkout, it is a mob rule rage inducing mess. The checkout is so bad that even though their produce is better and cheaper I avoid this place like its diseased.
With an excellent selection of fresh produce and a formidable range of ethnic specialty foods, what's not to love about West Valley Market? The staff are always willing to help you find anything you need and most likely they have it in stock already. When any one checkout line gets too long, another one opens until the crowd dissipates and I've seen all 3 registers going at once to make sure... more
I used to love West Valley! It's changed. When I phoned them today, the person answering the phone didn't identify himself, just answered "Hello". I asked if they carried saffron and he said "yes". Then I asked where it came from and he said he didn't know. I asked if he could find out and the answer was "no" because "I'm in the office" and could I call back. When I asked if someone else could... more
Love this place (and lucky me, I live 4 minutes away if I WALK). Open till 11 pm, fairly inexpensive veggies, lots of ethnic foods (I still want to try some of the Mexican hot chocolates I saw!) and most of the food seems to be the same price or cheaper than S uper Valu or Safeway. They sell food like "Holy C@!p cereal" which is made here in BC which big-name stores do not sell, organic... more
Solid place to go for fruits and veg. Not sure about anything else, I just get weekly salad stuff here.
Good stock, helpful staff, reliable quality.
Tried IGA on Burrard (okay, no contest here), Super Valu on Davie and No Frills on Denman. This place is a better bargain.
They have milk, dry and canned goods as well-- not sure of prices.
I bought four chopines of fresh, local blueberries here for a mere $8 and had a blueberry party in my hotel room nearby that lasted two days. Is it safe for one human to consume that many blueberries in a 48-hour period? PM me for details.
It didn't end well, but boy, were those blueberries plump, glorious and tasty while they lasted.
It's true, I am a fan. This place has the cheapest produce ever! When you enter the store they also have a section to the side (it looks like they bought the space next to them and just made them into one) where they carry staples like pasta noodles, rice and whatnot. They also have a dairy section and some things that you might not even find at a regular grocer, like miso paste. I'm constantly... more
Having recently moved to the West End, we stumbled upon West Valley Market. There's no going back to Safeway or Super Valu! What a gem.
Amazing produce, a great selection of sundries and sauces - great for daily shops and even finding the ethnic ingredients for any special meal. It's deceptively larger than it seems from the outside - go in!
they have an amazing exotic foods section! And the regular stuff that markets sell. This is by far the best thing in the Davie area for groceries.
Very convenient spot to buy some last minute groceries. I dropped in to get some feta cheese, and there they were, no fuss. My cashier was so sweet to offer me some tissue paper to clean my stinky hands. That's what we call friendly service. Thanks :)
THIS PLACE ROCKS!
West Valley has a huge variety of stuff, lot of cheap delicious vegetables and all the ethnic food ingredients I need. The people that work there are friendly and everything is always well stocked. One of the best local markets to shop at! =)
This place never seems to disappoint, they seem to have just about everything you need at great prices, even organic stuff.
Loses a star with prices which are not as cheap as they should be especially for J-snacks, cereal, etc. Fruit, veg (although i prefer Kin's for these), no name snacks, Arvand yogurt, Kohoku Rose rice and even muffins are fine.
It's a typical corner store like they used to be all over Vancouver and stays open way late.
More then just a green grocer! They have everything you need, all the basics with a great selection. Italian, Indian, Mexican, Chinese, Japanese, pantry items.
Good cheap fresh (often local) produce. The dry food selection is great, things like pasta and olive oil are cheaper than at nearby places and their specials are awesome. I have noticed that most of the meat is previously frozen, but of good quality so I don't mind. The employees are super friendly and if they don't have something in stock, they can usually recommend somewhere else that does. I... more
This place is pretty awesome... Yes there is competition with groceries as Kin's Farmer's market is on one side of Davie and Bute and Super Valu is on the other... not to mention there is a 24 hour shoppers drug mart, and tonnes of people lining up in front of Stephos..
but believe it or not, West Valley is opened late.. after all those other main stream grocery chains have locked up and gone...

This place is great especially for fresh produce and ethnic cooking goodies. Friendly staff and always great prices. I live around the corner and go there for produce rather than the big grocery store because of the price and its always fresher.
That's right. Come, be intrigued by the produce banking my exterior. The colourful peppers and squash, crunchy enoki mushrooms and bean sprouts, the exotic pineapples and papayas. I can see you judging me by my cover. My fresh and well priced fruits and veggies are enough to make anyone visit after they have taken a look at the sad produce section from my neighbouring Super Valu or after... more
Part of the "Bute Mall", along with the liquor store across the street.
Great prices and fantastic selection here: fresh meats and produce, dairy, pasta, baking essentials, teas, and spices, and some hard to find ingredients for Mexican, Indian, Thai.
Luxury items like wild rice, organic coffee, and good quality hot chocolate mix cost about a dollar less than at other supermarkets. They also...

This is probably my favorite grocery shopping place on Davie. They have relatively cheap produce, especially for the west end. And it's pretty decent quality. They have a decent selection of dry goods too. And they have a good size of fresh meat, seafood, milk, eggs, dairy etc stuff too. It's kind of a one stop shop for food, plus some other house hold things. And the best part is that it's... more
