My husband and I chose to stay here as it was close to the hospital and restaurants.We were delighted with our choice and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to our friends.we'll definitely be back!

Great Night in downtown Halifax

Went to Halifax for the night for our wedding anniversary. We enjoyed the Grafton Street Dinner theatre and walked from the Inn, it took about 15 mins. FREE parking as well. After we checked into the Inn we walked to the waterfront and market and stopped into a number of places.

Excellent location in downtown Halifax

Enjoyed 2 days in downtown Halifax. Hotel was very well located near major places of interest. Our room was4 levels up. No elevator so need to be fit. Good breakfast.

Unique character hotel in a very central location

We stayed in the P.T. Barnum room (Barnum & Bailey fame). All antique furnishings made us feel that we had stepped back in time.

Loved the historic honey feel. No coffee in room but it was right down the hall 24/7

Close to waterfront

It was close to the event I was attending. Nice continental Breakfast buffet.

A let down....

We stayed for 4 nights during a university tour of Nova Scotia and were extremely disappointed with the Inn. We would have relocated but there was little else available during the busy summer season. The rooms are crowded with bulky antiques and not terribly comfortable and not terribly clean - there were a lot of cob webs hanging from the ceiling of our second room. Lovely inn, convenient location

We stayed for one night in August but had also staid here a few years ago. We enjoyed our stay both times. Staff we're friendly and accommodating and the breakfast was very good.

I have stayed in nicer rooms at the Waverley

Great place to do walking tours of the waterfront and downtown area. Close to shopping areas and restaurants. Lovely decor inside and out. Very complete offerings for breakfast.

Beautiful historic inn

We loved our stay .. beautiful rooms, walking distance to pier 21 and the harbour walk plus close to shopping and restaurants. For those that have trouble with stairs ask for a main floor room.

A Welcome Trip into the Past

The Waverley Inn is ideally suited to elderly people who are nostalgic. Moderately priced, very comfortable and relaxing, it has a lovely parlour where one can converse with other travelers who have a little free time. easy walking distance in downtown Halifax

we have always loved staying at this hotel because we can park (free parking!) and walk every where, which is a real plus... stroll the boardwalk or up Spring Garden Road to the Public Gardens... this last trip however the full hot breakfast was not quite as sumptuous as in previous times, and I especially missed that bowl of cut fruit

Good location, within walking distance from most downtown sites and lots of good restaurants. This is a good hotel for someone who doesn't plan on spending much time at the hotel, just looking for a place to crash for the night. The bed wasn't very comfortable. Beautiful old Victorian.

Beautiful old Victorian mansion walking distance to most of Halifax's key locations and sites. Painstakingly restored to its original glory. The rooms were comfortable, historic, clean and spacious.

Nice step back in time.

A unique building with equally unique rooms and furniture. We loved the Victorian atmosphere. The Inn does not have some conveniences eg: stand alone a/c unit was a bit noisy and there are is no elevator but if you want that go to the sheraton. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and found the staff to be friendly and helpful. Rooms were a bit small but they were laid out in the 1880's

Charming Inn

Wanted to try something different from the larger chain hotels. Room was small yet quaint and very charming. Housekeeping stall kept it spotless. Free hot breakfast as well as free parking was a definite bonus.

Very comfortable place to stay.

I was only there for one night as I was visiting my son who lives in Halifax. There were a lot of great restaurants within walking distance as was the waterfront with a beautiful walkway. We also walked through the Park with gorgeous gardens. The bed was very comfortable and the room was perfect.

Stay here regularly whenever we need to go to Halifax. The decor is charming, the rooms are comfortable and the staff very gracious and attentive. Super location with several nice restaurants nearby. If you are looking for old charm this is the place.

What a great place to stay. Beautiful rooms and a great price for Halifax. So many historic figures stayed here. I was in a room Oscar Wilder stayed in. Clean and great staff. You are away from the core but a very short walk to it. Some good restaurants around it also.

Fantastic Establishment

Fantastic place, such decor and history! We stayed as a family of three in a two double bed room. The beds were amazingly comfortable, and the decor was gorgeous! The breakfast included was also quite good, the location is excellent, not far from Alexander Keiths, Spring Garden Road, or the waterfront. I would return for sure.

The Waverley is in a great location - close to the harbour, Public Gardens and Spring Garden. I stayed at the Waverley Inn and walked to a conference I was attending @ the Marriott Waterfront. The Waverley was excellent and the location was easily accessible to the conference location. Our recent stay at Waverley Inn was great. It is a lovely Victorian home and makes you feel like you've gone back in time with the furnishings and surroundings. It was within walking distance to the attractions we wanted to see. I would definitely stay there again.

A Real Gem

This was a wonderful place to stay - This is one of those hotels where first inmpressions should be dismissed!! The inside of thisplace is fantastic. We stayed in the Oscar Wilde room, Wow! A most pleasant accommodation steeped in Victorian charm. Beautiful antiques and appointments. Staff pleasant and helpful. Excellent central location near to the places we like to visit in Halifax. Class and comfort in the heart of Halifax

I returned to the Waverley after not having stayed there in several years and was impressed, as always. Outstanding hot breakfast in an open room decorated with beautiful artwork. Comfortable sleeping quarters and highly attentive staff. I will return soon!

Charming place, great value

We were impressed with this little inn. Wonderful antique atmosphere with lots of character. Service was good, breakfast was above average, free parking and location were very convenient. Our room was a little small (top floor with slanty roof), but it was nicely appointed. Recommended!

I enjoyed my stay in this character rich hotel. The only downside was the lack of an elevator.

Comfortable Stay

Even though this is a historic building and lots of the original features/flavor of the furnishings are there, they did a nice job of working in lots of modern, updated amenities. And the bed was super comfortable!

We always like The Waverly. Free parking and breakfast are an added bonus. The breakfasts don't seem to have the variety they had a few years ago but still good. Also having newspapers available is appreciated. We can walk to most places and always enjoy stopping off at Bearly's across the street. Our rooms are always clean. Stunning Inn

Staff are friendly and helpful. The room was stunning and close to everything. Breakfast was just ok and you eat in the catacombs of the building. Coffee and treats are available all day. Pack light, you have to take the stairs.

Historic hotel close to downtown Halifax

The Waverley Hotel has an old fashioned ambience (in a very good way). It has hosted Oscar Wilde and other famous visitors to Halifax since its founding in 1876. Loved this Inn. So historical. Decor is fantastic. All rooms have beautiful antique beds. We booked this since it is super close to the historical part of town as well as Dalhousie U. The breakfast had healthy options and better than any hotel chain. Very clean and quite.

One of many historic buildings in Halifax, the Waverly was the home of wealthy merchant family, the Chipmans circa 1866 until their financial demise in 1870. A very quaint spot at one end of Halifax's main street. Charming rooms with lots of antiques (the hotel was built in the 1880s so has a country inn feeling). Within walking distance of the Spring Gardens shopping district and close to some good restaurants. Definitely our new hotel of choice for Halifax. Free parking is a plus, and complimentary buffet breakfasts were very good.

The interior decorating is lovely and the room was comfortable. Everyone I came across was really friendly and couldn't have been more helpful. Comfortable & Convenient

We had a wonderful stay at the Waverley Inn. It is located close to many of the Halifax attractions and has ample parking. The rooms are cozy and clean, and the staff are very friendly. Free WIFI and complementary breakfast (very good). We will definitely stay here again when we return to Halifax.

Beautiful Heritage Property, Excellent Location

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The rooms are clean and well kept. Its a beautiful old property and has lots of charm. The location is excellent allowing us to walk to all the attractions in the area which made for a great stay. Highly recommended!

Very nice stay

I stayed for one night in a modest room with a shower. The price was right and there was more than enough space for one person. The room was clean, bright and comfortable with an updated bathroom. It was also very quiet with no guests in the hallway making noise one any street noise.

Stayed here on our honeymoon and we thoroughly enjoyed this hotel. The room was small but very clean and unique. All the staff seemed friendly and approachable. Lovely Find

This inn was larger than we expected. 34 rooms. But it was run like a small B&B. Our room.123,was large and comfortable. The front desk was extremely polite and helpful. The location is great never using our car and walking everywhere...harbor area,dinners, sightseeing. Breakfast was more than adequate . Would stay here again.

To say the Waverley Inn is beautiful would be an understatement. There is nothing I would change about this place. A great location right downtown, clean, friendly service, gorgeous stately rooms. Our room was large and spacious, free wifi, and all the amenities you could ask for.

This inn is beautiful and very central. The room we stayed in was huge and the beds and furniture were lovely. The staff were very friendly and helpful and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Very convenient to downtown Halifax. We used our car only for the drive to the Citadel.Rum quite clean and quiet with beautiful attention to detail...wallpaper, bedspread, etc.Would definitely stay here again. Henry's for casual dining, and Stories for gourmet dining are quite near.

We stayed for 2 nights in a Queen room at $175/night not including taxes. I think if you stay here, you're going for the experience of the old-world rooms etc. and not the modern conveniences of most hotels.

Perfect location and friendly staff

The Waverley Inn is in the perfect location to explore Halifax and also has a free carpark. Reception staff were very friendly and the tea, coffee and cake in the lobby was a lovely extra.
The standard rooms are quite small which they do not appear to be on their website and the breakfast in the morning is very basic.... more

The hotel is a very good deal.An old manor type hotel with high roof.The location is excellent, walking distance from the interest points of halifax.

An amazing historic experience. Oscar Wilde has a room named after him, after staying in this hotel during his N.A tour. I slept on a 4-poster bed that was over 100 years old and still magnificent.

Close to everything.

If you enjoy the intimacy of an old fashioned, period bed & breakfast, this is the place for you. Every room is decorated in period furniture but with modern bathrooms...very quaint and comfortable. Absolutely Incredible

Stayed Saturday Oct 20th, 2007. WE had a beautiful suite on the third floor with a Chinese feather bed and beautiful hot tub. The house is elegantly restored and the staff are incredibly informative and professional. I strongly recommend this charming Inn to anyone both young and old as the location is perfect and the over all value can't be beat.

Close and comfortable

Convenient location and comfortable beds. Good breakfasts and character filled decor. If you're planning on staying here, just two warnings: Stay in a room far from Barrington Street (quite noisy with partiers) and no higher up than the 2nd floor (no elevators).

Love the rooms and staff too!

A step back in time, but I could still use my laptop with their free high speed wireless. Wonderful antiques. loads of charm and the staff were alwayus helpful and friendly.
