My daughter and her husband took my wife and I to Vittoria Trattoria for a night out. The restaurant is nicely decorated with some nice unobtrusive jazz playing in the background. The greeters at the door could use a little lesson on making customers feel welcome and appreciated. The service was good but a little more training might be an... more
We arrived at this restaurant by voice of mouth from our hotel concierge. The first time was for dinner accompanied by my wife and youngest son. The food is excellent and very tasteful. I had the fettuccini Alfredo and it was very good. We returned the next day for lunch to try their pazza, which was also excellent, Service was... more
Have been several times for special occasions over the years and have never been disappointed. The modern decor, the open-kitchen concept and the glass-enclosed wine room lend it a sophisticated atmosphere. The food is fresh and flavourful. On a recent visit, our group had penne with pancetta, pasta primavera, linguine bolognese and whole-wheat pasta with sausage and goat cheese--all delicious.... more
We visited the Riverside location on Saturday May 31. I like to open concept with the view on the kitchen and wine cellar. We ordered the Antipasto Della Casa plate, minestrone soup and bruschetta as appetiser. They were all very good and big portions. As for entree 2 of us had Fetteccine Pescatore wich were ok noting else. 2 others... more
Went to this Italian restaurant for supper and really enjoyed my evening. The entrée, the caesar salad and the fettuccine Alfredo was very good. It had taste. The dessert and the specialty coffee was very good as well. The price was very decent. We had a very enjoyable evening and I will certainly recommend this restaurant to my friends and... more
although it's far from downtown, if you're in the burbs or using the airport, this isn't out of the way at all. The Riverside VT is a great space, has a wide and good wine list, a strong menu and kitchen, with friendly but professional service. It is always good, often better than good, and offers a tremendous experience and... more
It was my friend's birthday again so he chose this restaurant for a 2nd time.
Food: I had the fettucini with marinara sauce. Cheap and good.
Atmosphere: we went during the week so it was not as noisy as it gets on a weekend.
Service: Our waiter was excellent this time.
Price: I chose a cheaper item so I was...

Among many things that should come together to make a dining experience great, my personal three musts are: (most to least important)
1) Service
2) Atmosphere
3) Food
I have been to a few fine dining restaurants, enjoyed the food and atmosphere, paid a premium and left feeling very unhappy with nothing but bad memories. Why? Bad service! Nothing gets...

Everything from cut-offs to 3-pc suits. For me, that speaks well of a place. The wine list is a weighty tome, and the cellar is on display - a whole wall, must be 20' high! I substituted pasta with the Veal Marsala, no problem. Dinner was great, the portions generous, but could have been warmer, and we had to ask... more
On Saturday night we had the pleasure of eating here as our host frequents this restaurant. It was packed with local, repeat clients - no room for drop-ins & many were turned away. The tourists use the Byward Market restaurant (and I heard from different people at the Chateau Laurier where we were staying that the food was great there... more
2 couples went to this restaurant based on the location and the reputation. We were fortunate enough the other couple were young chefs, and we were looking forward to some great food and great service. We were very disappointed overall. The lady that sat us looked like she was in a bad mood, sorry, but this is your job, smile... more
I'm a frequent flyer at this location & also regularly order take out dishes. Winning appetizers include the prosciutti & pear, bruschetta & calamari; skip the artichoke dip as I find it bland & tasteless. Their salads aren't anything out of this world but they do use fresh ingredients.
For a main dish, the thin crust wood oven pizzas are...

This was my first time at this restaurant. I was there with an office Christmas party. We were a group of roughly 30 people.
The service was fantastic. Very responsive, even given the size of our party.
I had the salmon in dijon glaze with snap peas and carrots on rice.
Salmon was perfectly cooked, rice was very flavourful.
I...

As a group, we repeated the experience for our annual Christmas party. Once more, we celebrated in style. The menu is complete enough to please every one. The garlic mussels are the same year after year, of course the chef is the same, which explains that we are never disappointed. the service is very good and they do not resent... more
One of the few 'nice' restaurants in this part of town, I come here occasionally for office events. Whether for lunch or dinner, it is consistently mediocre: food is uninspired, service is (mostly) friendly and competent. Too bad, as the decor is nice and the restaurant could be a much bigger attraction if the kitchen were better and the servers... more
My husband and I decided to stay close to home and this is only 20 minutes away. We've been here before, when they first opened and it hasn't changed much. The hostess was terrible, even rude, the server good, the food good, but nothing I'd rave about. If they had background music it couldn't be heard. They do however, have... more
Recently I went there for a girls night out and it was a fantastic night. First of all the girls hadn't seen each other in a while so there was a lot to catch up on. The waiter would come and ask us if we had questions/decisions but he was not overly pushy. It was a busy Friday night so... more
What a fantastic meal at a beautiful restaurant. Located in the market district, this restaurant offers a incredible variety of Italian dishes that are to die for. I had their Caesar salad, chicken parm and pasta. It was awesome. A dish to be enjoyed every time I have the chance to return. I. Will be back.
My work team choose to lunch yesterday at this restaurant. I had a Carbonara that did not taste at all like one. I had many times that dish in Italy. I was introduced to it by a family that was for many years in the restaurant business. Other thing I didn't like was that the tip was already included in... more
This was my first time at this location.... invited to celebrate my sister-in-law's birthday. Had great service, good food and wonderful wine. Found good value for the money. Will certainly go back and try some of the other tempting dishes. Made for great evening... !
Very noisy due to hard surfaces with no sound absorption, making conversation difficult. Additionally, hard wooden chairs arre very uncomfortable for remaining seated for any length of time. Perrhaps a strategy intended to turn over the tables. Food is only slightly better than ordinary, but not exceptional. Service was mediocre, with little attention once the food is served.
Had greater...

The menu has not changed for years. Owners have made millions from average, over priced food. Won't recommend.
Went to this restaurant for a group dinner, small group of 7. I had an amazing dinner!
I had a garden or house salad, pizza and creme brule for dessert. It was all so good from start to finish. The portion sizes were good, I had pizza to bring home. Everything tasted fresh & perfectly made. Out of our table...

Tonight I went there with two mentally challenged women and my husband. We booked very early, and asked for a table near the back, out of the way. From experience, this works best. The table we were offered first I felt was a bit too exposed and asked to be moved. Done in a flash. We were treated with exactly... more
This was my fourth visit to this suburban restaurant and I must confess I still don't see what people see in this place. The food is average and the service is professional but certainly nothing extraordinary.
The menu has the same old Italian dishes every other Italian restaurant offers and it's served up without even a hint of creativity. Even...

The food was exceptionally tasty! The service was attentive, and unobtrusive and the ambience was charming!
Amazing italian food, the best in the capital. I highly suggest it, I have been there many times. Reserve in advance. A little pricey, but definitely worth it. Good choice of wine too.
Average food and average surroundings, upstairs anyway at Byward. Having said that, my husband loved his dish. Overall enjoyable with good knowledgeable staff
What else can I say about Italian food but yum! VT does a great job of the selection, the taste and the service! I wish I could go there more!
The Vittoria Trattoria remains a good quality Italian restaurant in a great location and offering a warm and inviting atmosphere. It is in the old market of Ottawa and this makes it a special location. The interior of the restaurant does not disappoint. The menu items are largely standard Italian dishes, well-prepared and served without any so-called "nouvelle cusine" touches.... more
The food at this restaurant was incredible. It was hands down one of the best meals that I've had in a long time. It was a bit of a drive from the downtown area, but definitely worth it. The atmosphere was fantastic and the service was top notch.
This restaurant is out in the 'burbs, not my normal haunt, but I came upon it a couple of years back and return whenever I want a truly tastey, tender, terrific steak. On Saturday, we went there with out-of-town friends and we were delighted as always. The salad was fresh, the pasta special was availble in gluten-free, and the steak... more
Atmosphere is very nice, trendy. Service was friendly and attentive. Food was predictable...nothing special. A little pricey for being average. Probably the nicest Italian restaurant at that end of town.
Great place to stop while in the Byward Market for a nice lunch or dinner. Try their pizza. It's delicious - authentic Italian thin crust with delicious toppings.
This is one of our favourite places to go. Excellent food and staff. We feel like family every time we return.
Nicely finsihed and the flavours are wonderful. This place has never disappointed. Some items seems a little pricey but overall the service, the food and the atmosphere are wonderfully combined and you will enjoy your evening here.
This is my second time eating here within the last 9 months, and I enjoyed both times. This time was a Saturday evening when we arrived at 6 pm. and the restaurant was already almost full. We were a party of five and had a reservation (otherwise unlikely to get a table). We were there for a birthday dinner, and... more
I've been to this restaurant twice and the food has been consistently good. The pasta was fresh and the seafood tasty.
The entree and main meal was excellent, the server was very friendly & very professional and we have returned on a few occasions since.
wonderful fresh food and great atmosphere.
we enjoyed the service and the great location too. too expensive for families though
Great, cozy atmosphere and professional staff who do their jobs extremely well. The escargot is fabulous, and not your regular run of the mill escargot in garlic butter. I've never had a bad experience here and the food has always been perfect. Highly recommended.
Let me start by thanking Kevin. our very attentive waiter, for making this the special evening celebration it was supposed to be. My wife and I were celebrating the beginning of her 1 year leave from work to test out the retirement life style I have enjoyed for the last 6 years. My Linguini Natasha was excellent and my wife's Spaghetti... more
I love the menu here, really good salads and pasta, but most surprisingly was the really delicious soups. I choose this place almost every year for my birthday !!
We had our company Christmas lunch there and everyone was pleasantly surprised. It was not my first time there so I expected the great food and service and I was not surprised.
we had a very good dinner. The service was attentive and friendly. I asked for a different option than available on the menu and they were more than happy to fulfill my request. My pasta with pesto was very good as was my husbands dinner.
This location we love. We have become regulars because of the great & personal service. Sean 'our' waiter and the manager make you feel good every time you visit. The food is always delicious and wine selection is extensive, from $20 to $5000. Value is always good. We have moved away but make the longer drive whenever we can.
Definitely one of the better Italian restaurants around Ottawa. Fresh made pasta and pizza are both good choices. Worth a visit.
We have been several times. Market location best. Ambience good. Smoked salmon thin crust pizza burnt. Wine was overcharged. Sometimes good. This time not.
We went there with friends, we immediately loved the place, the food was very good, but I found it a little pricey for pasta! Loved it but would not go back.
I have always had good service and a satisfying meal at lunch - l;ess so in the evening when the kitchen can get overwhelmed.
My wife and I went to this restaurant for our anniversary. We were advised to make a reservation and we were glad that we did, as the restaurant was packed. The food was excellent, no complaints at all. Our server was very warm and friendly and gave us her undecided attention despite it being very busy on a Saturday night.... more
Food and service was very good. We had 2 different veal dishes and they were very good. Decent wine selection with fair pricing. Server was friendly and helpful.
Went here not expecting it to be so fancy i was very under dressed for this type of place but the people working here were not snooty about it at all. the service was what i would expect for this place it wasn't slow even though they seemed to have three birthdays on at once. the food was amazing. the wine list is impressive.
