Great soup

We planned a stop to see the murals, but we also found a really great place for lunch.
I had the mulligatawny soup (never heard of it) wow....you gotta try it.
The peanut butter cookies were also very good.

Perfect place adding to travel experience
July 12, 2014Best pastries in town, and good to have lunch in such a beautiful place. I ordered my lunch and waited before got it, but the waitress said they were at rush time. Later the owner came to us, said sorry, and gave us a piece of brownie for free!

Fantastic Bread and Goodies
July 08, 2014We went to this bakery a number of times during our stay near Victoria. The trip here was worth it! The bread was always fresh and wonderful, and the goodies in the display case could never not catch my eye! Well worth a visit. Plus you can look around the cute town at all the murals.

March 06, 2014We were lucky enough to get here on a Thursday when they serve their most popular soup...mulligatawny. I am a soup connoisseur and this was by far, the best mulligatawny I've ever had. Cranberry pecan sourdough bread to die for
February 15, 2014I know I should not eat as much bread as I do, but when it is as tasty and fresh as Utopia's Cranberry pecan sourdough, I cannot help myself. Sorry Mom, but this is the best bread I have ever eaten. Mom's oatmeal molasses buns come second.

Utopia - just the right name

This is a great little gem in Chemainus for soup lovers. For under 5 dollars you can get a delicious home-made soup and bread rolls.
Our favourite: mulligatawny Thursdays with sour dough rolls.

We actually just dropped in here for a loaf of bread -- which was very good -- but the site has much more going for it than sandwich material.
You can get a very decent cup of coffee there, some of the cakes are delicious, snacks abound and the whole atmosphere is one of relaxation amid the aroma of bread...

June 28, 2013Extremely friendly service and excellent quality of pastries and bread. We came there by chance during the afternoon in order to have a snack. An old fashioned Euro-style bakery
September 20, 2012We first experienced Utopia at the Cedar Farmers Market. We are still there every Sunday to buy their breads. We stopped off with family at the bakery itself and everyone had a great lunch. From their soup to their sandwiches and over course their desserts..YUM!

Side Street attraction
June 26, 2012Though Utopia Bakery is off to the side, it is a wonderful bustling bakery AND coffee shop. The outside porch is screened with plexiglass for protection from street noise and wind off the ocean. The coffee is wonderful and the scent of freshly baked bread is...well scrumptious doesn't do it justice....it is one of the best combinations in the area

Truly world class Dutch bakery
May 11, 2012I have traveled all over the world and honestly feel that this is one of the top few bakeries I have been to. Amazing selection, high quality, nice vibe, great prices, friendly service. I think it is run by a Dutch couple who moved to Chemainus. It's a real gem on Vancouver Island.
