A cigar lounge, offering an array of foods and cigars from all over the world.
The lay-out, the decor, the furnishings all speak of comfort, familiarity, absence of pretension. The atmosphere is welcoming and the staff consistently helpful and friendly. Great location for meeting friends downtown. Food - well, the pad thai with shrimps is my favourite although the onion soup is also up there.
This is our favourite hideaway. A great place to meet old and new friends on a cold winter night or on the deck on a sunny afternoon. The food is always good and the service is always friendly.
I am from Halifax and frequent Tom's almost every week.
What's so special about Tom's is that it's tucked away, slightly off the beaten path and because of this, almost completely filled with locals. It's narrow space can only accommodate about 40 people, but it's the coziness of it that makes it so inviting and relaxing.
The food is pretty...

Scotch lovers dream. When the only printed menu is a scotch menu you know you are going to have lots of great options. Cool vibe. Comfortable to hang out with friends for hours. Great location.
My boyfriend and I will never go back to this spot again. Service was lazy and waited over 20 minutes for someone to come take our order before we ended up going to find the waitress to pay our bill on our drink and left. This was on Saturday night
We were in town on business and saw this on trip advisor. Since it was Father's Day all of the upscale spots were full This was an unlikely spot from the outside and even inside with the towel covers on the tables but the food was good(slow) and the atmosphere grew on us. I like it and will return in... more
It took a local to show me this place! And was I ever grateful! Great food, fun staff, reasonably priced, and casual atmosphere. Highly recommended.
No better place in Halifax to sit with a few friends (or alone) to have some drinks and relax.
Formerly a cigar bar/rest -Tom's is a popular hangout with the artsy crowd but everyone is welcomed by the friendly staff. The decor is "rustic and battered" which makes it what it is. Food is very good if limited by the small galley kitchen. Try it once and I bet you'll return.
We have been to the Havana SHop for brunch twice in the last 2 years on our annual trips to Halifax. Pub is a lillt off the beaten track behind Spring Garden Road, but well worth the effort to find for a great brunch. We both had the Roesti, which is a little like an Eggs Benny lesss the bun.... more
While we were cruising in Canada, we called in to Halifax, Nova Scotia.
After sightseeing, we were looking a for a bar with some food.
We ask a street corner helper, 'Where do YOU go for a drink' he replied, well I go to a little bar, which is in a side street, used to be a cigar parlour, but...

We got tired of driving around town looking for parking so we found a spot and took the first place we could to eat. I really enjoyed this place. It has a great atmosphere and pub feel to it. The menu is small, but very good. You get a good meal out of what you order.
Had been wandering around in the Halifax rain for about an hour looking for a decent place to have dinner and a pint when I stumbled across Tom's on a side street near Spring Garden Road. A lot of other places seemed superficial or dated but this small restaurant had promise and didn't disappoint. There really isn't any real connection... more
We stopped here during a long day of sightseeing. The waitress was nice and knowledgeable about the area. The wings were amazing! They even had a deck of cards. There was also monopoly, backgammon and others mixed about the place. It's a must see !
Everytime I have gone here with friends I have had a fantastic time. Great atmosphere and the food isn't half bad either.
Its a bit small but still a great palce to hang out.
I love this little cosy bar. The atmosphere is relaxed and the food is reasonably good - i love the jamalaya.
This is possibly my most favourite place on earth.
I love this place, it has a nice relaxing atmosphere, a place you can be scruffy in and feel good. The food is cheap and tasty, we spent way more in beer! Beer is good, people nice.
Tom's Little Havana is an ideal location for an after work bite to eat or drink. The atmosphere is second to none in the city, and the service and staff are exceptional. I would recommend this location to anyone looking for a different pub experience or personal dinner. The prices are excellent and the food, delicious.
I was astounded when I first started going to Tom's by the genuine friendliness and great service. Years later, it remains the same. Good goin', Tom!
Great people, great music, and great food make for a really swell atmosphere. There's always a chance to rub elbows with the politicos as well, since Tom's is one of their more popular unofficial haunts. A great place to meet an old friend, or make new ones.
Tom's strong-point is that it attracts locals by word of mouth primarily. This creates a neighborhood feel and a relaxed, chilled atmosphere. Gina is the best waitress in Halifax, by far!
Tom's is a great place to hang out with friends/co-workers, have some drinks, smoke a cigar from Tom's Glass humidor, and relax after a long day. Plus you can make friends and be on a first-name basis with the bartenders!(though you would have to go there as often as me!)
The only neighborhood bar atmosphere in halifax since Thackeray's!! The best bar in Halifax!!
Tom's Little Havana Cafe offers these services: restaurant, pubs.
Tucked away on a small street just off Spring Garden Road, Tom's seems more New Orleans than Nova Scotia. True to its name, cigars and pipes are welcome, but the restaurant is well ventilated and comfortable for all patrons. The menu is eclectic, spanning several countries. Smoked meat and applekraut is served on fresh rye bread, the potato pancakes are served with tomato garlic chutney and the... more
