I had a great stay at the Westin in Calgary. When checking in, I was given the option of getting a room with a King bed instead of 2 double beds. No Fan??

The room had a strong odour of sewer gas, smelt like dirty feet. The washroom was not equipped with an exhaust fan? The room was clean and nicely appointed, coffee, tea, all the toiletries were supplied.... Free wifi, free long distance calling in North America... The bed was very comfortable.

Just stayed overnight.

Staff and facilities were excellent, our bed and mattress were first class. We will be back. Thank you.

My husband and I spent a night at the Westin in Calgary and loved it. The staff was helpful and friendly, our room was very clean and had a great view. Pool and sauna were a nice treat too! Will definitely stay here again.

Staff was extremely nice, room was very clean, very comfortable, upgraded us to a junior suite from a regular room after learning that it was my birthday. One of the better hotel choices in Calgary.

This is a nice hotel with decent amenities and well located. A couple of decent restaurants are attached and price-wise it is affordable in an expensive market.

Funky "rain tree" showers

Got there late on a Monday night. Got a 2nd floor room and downtown it is just too noisy. Asked for a room change, got 12th floor (much better), but smaller room. OK. Good business hotel close to office. Passage leads to the main downtown office district so you don't need to go outside, a real advantage when its -15 or below!

An absolute fantistic staff

I can't believe I even remembered our host name. Which was Sam. He upgraded us to a more quite suite. A beautiful clean room with an amazing view of the city. I would definitely stay there again when I go back to Calgary. It was close to great amenities.

Spent a couple nights here. It was clean and comfortable. Smallest bathroom if ever seen, which floods when you take a shower. Went to the Keg for dinner one night, good food, great service. Hotel is in a great downtown location.

Good location

The room was oaky, but the bathroom was like a broom closet. Way too small for two adults. Bedding was clean but very grey. Need new linens. No more Heavenly bed or pillows. Not as it used to be,,but not bad enough for me not to stay there again. I concerns were dealt with very well. Customer Service was excellent.

Nice hotel.

Good hotel minus the doors to the bathrooms don't completely close off it's either have the closest closed or the bathroom and the rooms are quite small. The tv's are also not very good but the bed is what keeps this hotel good. Pool was cold and awful, no hot tubs and the change rooms are creepy and 2 floors below the pool top.

Nice place, we'd stay here again, no problem. Staff was very friendly. It's a bit too far for most to walk to and from the Stampede but we never really had an issue getting a taxi.Beds were really comfy. In room coffee was surprisingly great.

The location cannot be beat. It's a great hotel if you are staying in the main tower. The other tower needs a refresh as the rooms are big and clean but old. Had a room facing the street and it was a little noisy, hence called the front desk and have the room changed. The staff were very accommodating and changed the rooms within the hour.

Great Hotel for the Business Traveller

I spent 4 days at the Westin Calgary in May and found the hotel was perfect for the business traveller. Short $38 cab ride from the Airport, excellent conference facilities, Keg was attached to the hotel for dinners and located in a nice area for walking around during free time. We stayed on Easter weekend and were greeted by friendly staff all the way. The room was very clean and in great condition. Bed was very comfortable! If you drive a pick up you can't park underground but the staff out front are happy to suggest some alternatives. Might bring our little car next time!

Stayed here when going to black sabbath. Room was great nicely appointed with a fridge and robes and a safe Beds are super comfy as are the pillows. Great hotel in downtown Calgary

The hotel is right downtown and within walking distance to just about everything. The room was very cozy and I liked the walk in shower. The condition of the hotel was great and the staff provided excellent customer service.

Stayed 2rooms 4 nights. Quick and easy check in, I had my 7 month old grandson visit us in the hotel , the staff have him a gift bag as well as ensured we had everything we needed for him during the visit . I would highly recommend this hotel for out of town guests

Downtown Hotel perfect for business

I stayed at the Westin on a recent business trip and it was perfectly suitable for that. Rooms were super clean and the bed was comfortable with plush pillows. The restaurant was fine. My only suggestion would be to provide more outlets for plugging in chargers.

I stayed at the Westin Downtown. I had a suite on the 5th floor. It was a huge room, extremely clean. I am a smoker, so I requested a smoking room. Calgary will go completely smoke free in 2008. Usually smoking rooms have a lingering smell. This one did not.
There are huge balconies in each room. Very nice to sit outside and look out at the downtown view.

As with all Westin properties, the Heavenly Bed is truly heavenly. The rooms are nice and up-to-date (remodeled in 2002). They have high speed internet access, but you have to pay for it. It's ethernet, not wireless.

The breakfast buffet is pretty good, and there's a Starbucks about 3 blocks away if you need your fix : )

Front desk checkin was very quick and painless. Took advantage of the "green" program and used my $5 credit at the Starbucks that was connected to the lobby. Cleanliness of the rooms was excellent and bed comfortable, so the essentials are well taken care of.
Downsides: poor value-for-money and the sound insulation of the rooms is pretty bad (don't get a room anywhere near the lifts).

Overall, a good stay. Excellent staff and service. Rooms are very clean and it's right downtown. The only issue is the area by the elevator is slippery when it snows. Be careful or you can slip and fall like I had. There is not a whole lot carpeted in the area.

Very busy hotel but then again all of them are in Calgary! It's a it pricier than most Westins but that's because of the city. Can't go wrong with the location especially in frigid Calgary! Good Enough for me

I was in Calgary for a 1 week trip and this location served the purpose well. They offered a deal where you can decline room service for a 5 dollar food card. While the program is marketed to Saving the Environment we all know it's about them saving a little money. Very nice Staff and great location for downtown. I'll be back.

Beautiful but...

Well the hotel was beautiful, but I had to pay $20 to park 6 blocks away and walk with no jacket (because I thought I'd be in the underground parking and just take the elevator up) and all my bags.. Then they charged me $10 for an in room movie that I did not watch or purchase !

Stayed here recently on a business trip and got to the Hotel around 2:15 and the room was not ready . . . . so they put me in the "Business Tower". Good location in Downtown and a good selection of Restaurants located in and around the Hotel. The Keg Steakhouse is a good choice for dinner. Nice business stop

The hotel facility and staff were top notch.The only complaint was the inability to control room temperature during my stay. The room was too warm and I could not get the thermostat to go low enought to cool it suffciently.

From the outside, it's not very impressive. Once you enter, though, it looks like a pretty fancy hotel. Yes, the prices seem exorbitant to those who are not used to paying $270+ per night in a city that isn't generally thought of as a tourist destination in April. But, considering that everyone around here charges about the same, I guess they can charge that much and still be at capacity.

Favorite place in Calgary

love that you can walk to the mall through the buildings and not have to go outside if nits cold. Has a Starbucks and Keg right in the hotel so you don't have to leave for anything if you dont want.Only wish it had a hot tub. Gym and pool great.

Another relaxing stay at the Westin!

We love this hotel. The staff are always perfect and the rooms are very comfortable and updated. The only hitch this time was the gym and pool were being renovated so we did not get to work out with the 20th floor panoramic views. Starbucks in the bottom of the hotel - one of the best hotels in Calgary.

Quality room and great pool on top floor of building. Central location downtown. Chic trendy lobby bar. Clean rooms with nice big bed.

Beds are so comfy! Room service food was great!

Stayed in what I thought was a suite, reg price was over $400. Thankfully did not pay that as the room was far from being valued as such.

No coffee table, or any table for that matter so nowhere to sit and eat. Nothing to sit on out on balcony...minor things but I expected way more for the room from what was described.

Enjoyed our short time at the Westin. Got a fabulous weekend rate through Priceline. Good location, walkable to all major downtown attractions and office buildings. Staff was friendly and the rooftop pool has a magnificent view of the central business district. The staff we interacted with were very friendly and the room was comfortable. We even got an upgrade...thank you.

Really Nice

Hotel was well appointed and comfortable. Pool could use a remodeling.

Great Business location

This hotel is near Shell Centre as well as TransCanada for business, Eau Claire shopping and restaurants are just around the corner. 1886 for breakfast, the Keg at the Westin is perfect for cocktails and dinner. The only problem was I received a lower rate from the hotel than I paid Orbitz.

“We had a towel with a blood stain in our room hotel was slow to replace and gave a restaurant certificate for less than the cost for 3 of us to eat. The toilet broke and the tap water came out yellow on the 2nd day we were there and we were charged $15 per day for inroom coffee which no hotel I've stayed in anywhere in the world has done before. Very disappointed in the Westin this time.”

Very comfortable beds.
Freezing lobby, but pleasant front desk staff.

Our conference breakfasts were rather lame, but I'm not sure if that was the conference organizer's selection or the available options. The buffet items at lunch were good, and the evening tapas had a nice variety of choices.

No refrigerator. No microwave. would be nice to have a printer also.

Stay here every time I'm in Calgary. Good location, nice rooms if you get the upgrade. Basic rooms are, well, basic.

I had a great experience here. They've got great local/sustainable food options in the bar/restaurant. The rooms are very nice. The breakfast is very good. I like the program that gives me 500 miles instead of having my room cleaned. And, I find the staff to be uncommonly friendly and helpful and intelligent.

I need to be upfront with this review. I am a Starwood Preferred Guest and generally choose to stay in Westin and Sheraton Hotels in North America.

I will have to say that of all of the Westin's I have stayed at this one is pretty middle of the pack. There isn't a whole lot that is super flashy about the place and it actually reminds me more of a Sheraton than a Westin.

I stayed in a room in the Business Tower for two nights over a weekend. The breakfast buffet (which you pay for) is at Essence and its terrific! Ahhh I loved the buffet so much. The staff were very kind and did everything they could to make my stay pleasant. I found the downtown area to be pretty dead in the daytime on the weekends.

The Westin Calgary was decent

Overall we were satisfied, but there were a lot of conferences going on during the weekend we were there, which equalled a ton of people. There wasn't anywhere to grab a late night snack or drink. The gift shop closed early and there was nothing in walking distance.

I was recently in Calgary for a job interview and stayed at the Westin. The staff were excellent. There was everything I needed in my room for getting ready for the interview from grooming needs to computer access. The hotel was good although a little tired and dated. The service from front desk, to room service, to concierge was excellent. The restaurant, whilst also offering great service and wines, was lacking in quality of the meals especially given the price. Visitors would be advised to eat out. The location could not be faulted. Excellent fitness facilities. I would rate it as 3-3+ stars.

Along with a great room I also received a room upgrade and free breakfast. Aside from the hotel renovations going on this is a great place to stay in the best location in downtown Calgary.

Pricy if you don't get a special deal

Bed were great but I would have expected a nicer room for the price.

Under construction

This will be a good hotel once construction is finished. For now, though, it's a pain. No where to sit and work, lobby is a total mess -- once it's finished, it should be a nice place to stay. Rooms are fine.

The Westin is a good business hotel situated centrally in Calgary downtown. Easy access to everything. The hotel was under renovation when we were there - and this reduced the quality of the stay somewhat.
