Two Nicklaus Design golf courses are the draw at this resort community about 30 minutes northwest of the city center. Two hotel buildings, several restaurants, a spa, and an extensive health club (with beach volleyball, tennis, and yoga) form the core of this resort village. Rooms and suites in the Clubhouse and Fairway buildings are large, with slate bathroom floors, soft-green-and-gray earth... more
This resort hotel sits between two, 18-hole mountaintop golf courses designed by Jack Nicklaus and his son. Part of a high-end resort-community development covering some 486 hectares (1,201 acres), the hotel is big and handsomely crafted, with fine natural finishes of wood and stone, and the overall ambience of a giant west coast mountain lodge. Rooms (in two separate buildings) are spacious,... more
We had a very pleasant stay. Great staff very friendly.
Every thing was great Would recommend to any family
The Westin Bear Mountain is always great. The stay was unexpected but met our expectations. Unfortunate that the inconsiderate people upstairs allowed their kids to run around until midnight..... Not sure why people are so inconsiderate.
If you don't want to stay in Victoria proper, or can't find a decent place under $500/night, try the Westin Bear Mountain Resort. It's about 12 miles outside the city, and it is a lovely resort. The rooms are large, and the bed is one of the best we've ever slept on. There is a decent restaurant on the premises, and if you play golf, you'll be in heaven. Very friendly and helpful staff. Highly... more
I was competing and had little time to investigate everything on the property. Maybe next time I will have the time.
The room was huge and plush. My dog was made welcome with a plush doggy bed and food bowls. The staff was fabulous and the amenities to die for!!
We really enjoyed our stay, would have liked to stay one more day to hike Mt. Finlayson to see the view.We were impressed that this resort is really a family friendly resort and so welcoming to all kinds of dogs. It was great to see! The day we left the resort was having a biking event which would have been fun to see. Bear Mountain Resort is a great place to go for the weekend, great options... more
Spacious rooms, great facility, good pool, well equipped gym. Challenging golf courses
Beautiful resort with all the amenities we required, the staff was very efficient and friendly (especially the guys at the golf course).
This is a wonderful facility close to a beautiful residential neighborhood. The self parking is a little crowded except for underground which was not convenient from the building in which we were located.
Huge party or something going on. Hotel staff overwhelmed. Had to wait for quite a while to check in. Hotel was noisy all night with banging on the walls. Fairway view consisted of looking out over a bad clump of trees and tennis courts. Paid extra for nothing.
We were thrilled with the setting and the room. UNTIL other guests (large male group) bombarded the hallway room to room 2-4AM!! with calls to front desk and a poor reaction in the morning upon checkout from staff. It was eventually made right through upper management but our night "sleep" was brutal. Had breakfast there as well and we could see the other section had great service HOWEVER our... more
Beautiful hotel in new subdivision overlooking golf course. First night was great, very relaxing, but our stay was somewhat spoiled by two weddings on the following two nights, noisy guests and staff who were too busy looking after the wedding guests to pay attention to their other guests. Balcony was shared and our neighbours took our chairs and smoked on balcony! Restaurant service EXTREMELY... more
One of my worst stays at any hotel.
Feel like I am staying in Yosemite in luxury. Nice walking trails, outdoor Jacuzzi, swimming pool and a world class spa. Also great golfing and tennis. Truly a place for someone who enjoys nature and outdoor activities. Need a car to go to grocery store or to get any supplies. It would be nice if the hotel has a small gift, supplies and grocery store. Instead of having a big golf supplies only... more
I was just visiting a friend who couldn't put us up. The room layout was weird. I wanted to golf 9 holes but this apparantly was impossible. A round was close to 200 dollars with club rental.
Pool was small and no diving - would prefer a larger pool. Accessible for my needs.
We stayed for 5 nights. The suite we reserved was spacious and great. The room service and the food at the restaurant was excellent and on the healthier side which is always ideal. The staff was great and friendly. I would definitely recommend this resort.
Restaurant is what sets this hotel apart. I would say it would be worth it to just come up and eat at the restaurant even if you were not staying at the hotel. Prices are reasonable and food was awesome they didn't fall short in any aspect. We ate there twice. The hotel itself is quite new in good condition well run, nice fitness club.
Beautiful view, lovely room, amazing staff....all-around one of the best resorts we have ever stayed at!
The staff at Bear Mountain were very efficient and kind. They go the extra mile. Our kids enjoyed the heated outdoor pool and were disappointed to leave. We had dinner at Jacks Place, which is not apart if the hotel but was right next door. The food was amazing, good value, and they had a children's menu. The beds are always comfortable at SPG hotels and the room was large and well appointed.... more
We stayed in this hotel a few times before and the staff is always courteous. We were upgraded twice in the past. Beds are always comfortable. The room has ample counter space with a sink, microwave and dinnerware which comes in handy for having some fruits in the room. Enjoyed watching the golfers coming in finishing the 18th hole.
We had 4 nights in the Freeway annex of this hotel, which is part of an extensive new housing development in the western hills of Victoria. This makes the area feel rather artificial, a bit like the setting of that old UK TV programme - 'The Prisoner'. Given time and good upkeep the area will mature. The 'jacks' pub across the road from the Hotel was pleasingly lively and clearly somewhere that... more
We are very happy to have chosen the Bear Mountain Resort to celebrate my daughter's and my birthdays. We went whale watching, to Butchart Gardens, to Victoria and had a massage on the premises at the Sante Spa. The location was perfect - just far enough to be out of the congestion of the city - maybe 20-30 minutes of easy travel to where ever we were going. The room was very clean and... more
Booked 3 nights to escape the busy city life but wishing we could have our several hundred dollars back and at home. Despite being on the 4th floor and with white noise on full blast, the music from downstairs is vibrating our bed. Impossible to sleep. Spoke with manager and told us nothing can be done until the wedding ends. We were offered possibly a free breakfast but not sure we will be up... more
Pleasant experience and very comfortable room. Nice location close to all sites. Great golf course and hiking trails.
Nice location, spacious rooms: clean and new. one thing I did not like is the additional resort fees.
Food in lounge was subpar for a Westin and the price. Chicken breast with my salad was previously frozen - tasted processed. Didn't bother complaining as a neighbouring table sent there appy and dinner back for being too cold. When I checked in the room was not cleaned. Went back to registration and was upgraded to a corner suite - very nice!
The Spa, Views, Sleep Comfort, Restaurants, Staff, Location and overall experience are nothing short of spectacular. The front desk staff are always proactive and helpful and as a SPG Ambassador Platinum member they take spectacular to new levels. The Spa is staffed with real pros and the views from the whirlpool are breathtaking as you gazed over Mt. Baker in... more
We have very mixed reviews about this resort as we arrived from FL after traveling all day, flights, ferry, etc. at 3 am in the morning but ended up driving around the area for 30 minutes trying to find the resort. I have been to Bear Mountain several times and am never disappointed! The service and accommodations are top notch! The staff is excellent, well beyond excellent. We stayed for a week and thoroughly enjoyed our time at the resort. Golf was on our agenda and we played both courses as well as two other courses in the area. I've stayed a in a lot of hotels in Victoria and elsewhere but this place is in the top ten for me. The only regret for me was that I didn't plan enough down time here. The pool has a feeling of tranquility (if your using it on a quiet day) as it is located in its own building on... more

My boyfriend and I were excited to stay at this resort. Boy, I sure wish... more
I'm not one to write reviews on hotels/resorts but I felt the need to rate this one ... whatever official ratings this place gets... I give it a 5 STAR. We stayed here for a few days in July. The resort is really nice but customer service is not their number one priority. The rooms are a little small but very clean and nice. There's a heated outside pool which was great.
There is no doubt that this is the best, most elegant, modern, and luxiuos place to stay in the Victoria area.
It is a slice of haven.
Ture pacific NW.
vanoouer island at it's best.
Do not hesitate to book a room here.
Staff was awesome, location is out of this world.
You will love it garranteed!
We can't say enough nice things about this hotel. Our family has been treated very well, with respect and politeness. The rooms are gorgeous, luxurious, the parking is easy, there is very little noise in the rooms from the rest of the resort, really comfy beds. We liked having the full kitchen, and wifi was just fine. Really good climate... more
I stayed with my husband and dog at the Fairways building for several nights (what follows re the accommodation may well apply more to that building than the main facility). Stayed here because it was a reasonably priced hotel outside of Victoria. The stay was very enjoyable and the golf course looked great. I got an upgrade to the suite and it was massive. I would definitely recommend as an alternative to the downtown hotels
What a peaceful gem in the woods of Victoria. Nestled above Langford, amongst two top name golf courses, a hotel that is peaceful, quiet and offers outstanding service. I have stayed here many times (over 20) and always leave happy overall.
Smiley (the dog) enjoys a walk through the trail just steps from the resort.
Food options are good both within the Westin and the surrounding pubs.

It was in the middle of a subdivision and seemed to have the locals using the pool and fitness centre. A lot of families with children. It was not like it sounded in there add in the middle of the mountains, peace and quite. The drive thru the subdivision was not what we expected.
This is truly one of the worst Starwood properties I have stayed at. The halls are like an echo chamber and you can hear everything that's happening in the hall and adjoining room. There was also a wedding that weekend and our room was above the reception hall. When we returned to the hotel that night, there were several loud,... more
Great place to relax n if u like playing golf great challenging courses
The resort is well maintained and about 20 minutes to downtown Victoria. Resort is quiet and beautiful!
We were spoiled with this hotel at the start of our 3 cities vacation. We were upgraded to a suite which was a bonus. My only regret was that we didn't end with this hotel as the last place was a dump in comparison. My suggestion is to allow enough time to enjoy the property. I will definitely be back if I can find a similar deal.
Never thought such an expensive hotel would be located in a suburban sprawl. On top of that the walls were paper thin; you could hear people talking and eating food from a room 2 doors down. Don't even talk about if a neighbor has kids... The pool was also overcrowded with people whole lived in suburbia surrounding the resort... Good luck actually using it as the neighborhood kids would lay... more
Was surprised at all the residential pockets leading up to the resort.
The place is flawless! The rooms are huge and very clean!! Recommend this hotel to anyone!!!!

My boys and I enjoyed the amazing pool facility for 2 days. Beautiful up there
Sehr entspannender Aufenthalt, anspruchsvolle Golfplätze in herrlicher Umgbung.
This is a beautiful hotel in a great location, with great amenities and great service. But....while the "Heavenly" king size bed was heavenly as promised, the pull out sofa was just awful - the kind with springs that poke into you. Worse still, the hotel had no cots available for the whole stay. Such a lapse is inexcusable, particularly for a brand that markets the "Heavenly Bed." They invested... more
Enjoyed our brief stay. Liked the terrace and the landscape. If we go the Vancover Island again we will stay there again.
Took my wife here for her birthday and our aniversary. The mountain location is beautiful, the resort is first class and the staff and service was great. A little on the expensive side but great for a special occasion!
We chose this destination for the golf, and it was certainly a good decision. The two golf courses have stunningly beautiful views, are challenging, and still are pretty fair. The location is about 20-25 minutes from downtown Victoria, so you can easily get there for activities and dining if you wish. The "stay and play" package is a good value,... more

This is usually my go-to hotel while visiting the Victoria area.
We arrived early into Victoria by plane and rented our vehicle then proceeded to the hotel.
It was apparently a busy time for the property because there were no rooms available until later in the afternoon. We ventured to the restaurant for breakfast, which was delish!

However, I did none of these things...

Stayed here at the end of August and it was absolutely beautiful! Friendly staff, gorgeous room, and wonderful amenities. They upgraded me to a suite when I arrived. I would definitely recommend staying here!
Super friendly staff, beautiful location. Unusually, the resort fee included use of the driving range -- and they provided free rental clubs (not sure if this was a special favor or really included). Typical heavenly bed and clean, well-equipped room. Ours included a great balcony overlooking the valley below. Breakfast included excellent muesli.
After checking out numerous hotels in the greater Victoria area this one looked by far the best for location and facilities; indeed it was! Golf was excellent, the Mountain course was better than the Valley course. Amazing spa with mineral pool with a beautiful view of the 18th hole. Great food and very accommodating and helpful staff. It would be nice to have kids' hours or kids' section as there were a lot of cannonballs in close quarters!
Excellent hotel, we were in Victoria for a wedding and had a great time staying at the Westin Bear Mountain. One thing to note is that there is a $15 / day resort fee that we were not aware of until we arrived. Try the sushi restuarant if you stay there - it's excellent.
From the moment I turned into the resort 'development', I knew I had made a great choice. This resort is nestled in amongst gorgeous scenery, tasteful homesites, granite mountains and on top of a first class golf course.
