Great place for excellent food served with utmost in service.
Another excellent meal!!! Our friends from Victoria had never been and they thoroughly enjoyed it.
Thank you!!!!!
still one of the best restaurant s in Edmonton -----------------------------------------------------------------
Once a favourite spot of mine, of late the service has become disinterested and worse, condescending. The last half dozen clients I've taken there have not been impressed.
The food here was once some of the best in the city, but has declined substantially. The same tired items remain on the menu year after year. Mostly it just doesn't taste...

I come here a lot but last Friday was off the chart! Duck and Arctic char were excellent as always, but the special attention paid to diet restrictions, while providing a delicious solution took the evening to a select experience. Outstanding food and service.Thank you LuAnne, Doris and Patrick! You keep getting better
The menu has changed and the new menu is disappionting. The lovely salads are no more and the mains are uninspiring. The brisket sandwhich was barely ok- could not taste the saurekraut or the dijon and the meat could have been more tender. The salted carmel chocolate cake was great. Won't be back for lunch for some time.
I took my boyfriend here for his birthday and we had a fantastic time. Everything about this place is amazing. The menu is small but everything we tried from it was incredible. A great place, we will definitely be back!
I just always feel welcome here and enjoy the simple yet tasty menu. The service is on point, attentive yet not over-baring, and always dishing out a little extra on the experience points. Really appreciate the unique wine list and the ease that they push the envelope with some different wines that are amazing, loved the tradition style pinot grigio with a slight rose blush. Really recommend... more
Very tasty. The hostess & waitress were very friendly & down to earth. There was nothing to not like about it.
I called ahead for a friends birthday and set up a veg dish for myself, and chocolate cake with a sparkler for her. When we arrived, they did not have a table set up for us and asked where we wanted to be seated. The server asked for our order, even though I had called ahead. The "special" vegetarian dish was a few lentils, wilted spinach, and peppers. It was very unappetizing/bland and was... more
As we walked up, the aromas wafting from the kitchen were fantastic. Modern decor. Attentive service, without being intrusive. Excellent food, well prepared ... flavourful is an understatement. Interesting menu (in a good way). I almost hate to recommend this place in case I can't get a reservation myself!
I've been to the Marc three times now, each time finding it simply okay. I keep going back as so many love it. If you are not a big meat eater, there is very little on the menu for you to choose from. This last trip we had the Arctic Char fish cakes to start. They were not very good. I had the duck and my husband had the steak frites. His steak was the winner. The Marc isn't bad, just not worth... more
We were given a gift certificate for the Marc from some friends after we had done them a favour. They said that the Marc is their favourite restaurant in Edmonton and it isn't hard to see why. The food here is AMAZING! Good quality food, I found the portion sizes to be a good size but they are not large. It is a fairly small restaurant with the tables fairly close together, so do not expect a... more
We were a group of four. Cauliflower soup was delicious. Artic Char cakes were delicious. Octopus appetizer was a little chewy and tasteless. Rib eye steak was tender, tasty, an cook perfectly. Just lovely. Pork tenderloin was also perfectly cooked and mushroom based side that went with it was highly praised. Scallops were absolutely wonderful. And I have to say that I loved the beignets for... more
I've only been to the Marc for lunch, but I love it. The omelettes are my go-to favourite. Stuffed with anything from lamb, arugula and asiago to the one I had the other day with beef and red peppers and possibly gruyere. They come with toast and a crisp salad of mixed greens and house dressing. Light but filling. Carb-free if you skip the toast and perfectly yummy every single time. I can't... more
Super place to go for any occasion or no occasion at all... Great food, great waiting staff and fantastic prices. We ate on the patio and as the night went on I started to get a chill... They have wraps/blankets to use! How perfect is that!? Loved it! We didn't feel rush out and staff were ever present, but not hovering- all was exceptional.
The Marc is not only my favourite downtown restaurant for business lunches, any type of dinner occasion; formal or informal but has become our family's restaurant of choice for special occasions. Their people are second to none and treat you so well. Food is always terrific and service amazing.
I went to The Marc because of its rating as one of the top restaurants in Edmonton. I hope that isn't true because I was underwhelmed.
The room is very stark. It is a big, open room with almost cafeteria style seating. Two walls are plate glass windows. That might be okay if there was something to see. There isn't....

We went to The Marc for a business/social dinner. Fantastic meals and atmosphere to wind down after a long day. The server was attentive and very helpful, and not intrusive. At his suggestion, we ended up ordering all of their four desserts to share.
Great location and menu for both social and/or business lunches. Food quality was great and staff very friendly but professinal.Loking forward to going again.
Excellent food with beautiful presentation. Extremely comfortable - fine dining without being pretentious. Reserve early... Fills up fast!
I love the Marc, it's one of my favorite restaurants, but on this occasion it let me down. On pur arrival at 11:30 we were advised that the outdoor terrace would get very sunny (we watched, it didn't) so ate indoors, and we're placed right by the kitchen and entrance to the terrace so it was a busy spot. My beef brisket lunch selection was very heavy - all bun, meat and fries and very heavily... more
My wife and I have been to The Marc serveral times and enjoy it each time. We like fine dining and always prefer a restaurant that is not part of a chain. One of the best deals for foodies in the city.
The decor of this place is very minimalist but charming. The scallops and lamb were perfectly cooked. Grilled octopus was so tender it could have been a chicken tentacle! For this quality of food we would have paid much more in Calgary.
Went with a small group of friends-had arranged a patio sitting but Edmonton weather does not always cooperate. Staff happily served us beverages outside with the understanding we would move inside for dinner. Great flexibility as one friend had to exit early to make other familial commitments -so the Marc accommodated serving dinner to one one the rest indulged in appies. On to the main course... more
Food was very good, service was not. Finished plates left on table for long periods of time. Not much action/support from waitress.
Great food & service!! I have recommended this place to all of my friends!!
The Marc is one of my "go-to" places. I know I can rely on a great meal, with friendly and professional service. This time we both enjoyed the superb mushrooms on toast, with a slice of lemon tart for dessert. Sublime, plate-licking dishes. Thank you!
The service was amazing bar none the food was unbelievable waitress was friendly knowledgeable.
Would highly recommend Marc's
Dined at The Marc on Thursday night. We'd made the reservation about 2 months prior. Our table..in a half empty restaurant was located right beside the door. Not a good start. We were moved to a banquette. Our server was fantastic. She was energetic, knew the menu and wine list. We started with a very good the house pate. My entree, skate wing, was OK. The sides /starch of lentils and snap peas... more
The Marc was a pleasant surprise. I actually decided to go there after reading reviews and knowing that my future daughter-in-law liked steak and finding that they were awarded "best steak" in 2013 .
We enjoyed our evening, our service was very good and the food was done per our requests.
I would definitely return and I would also recommend it to anyone looking for a good meal with great service.
Came here last night with my family to celebrate Father's Day, on the recommendation of a colleague. You would be wise to make a reservation well in advance, as they are always booked up on the weekends.
The restaurant is located on the main floor of a business building, you'll easily miss it if you weren't looking for it. There...

The food was fantastic. Specifically, the beet sorbet appetizer, scallops, lemon tart and vanilla cake with blueberry drizzle. Both times i have eaten here I have loved it. I really enjoyed the night time dining environment.
Overall a great experience. The food was fantastic, many good choices and the staff was very accommodating and friendly. Would Recommend to anyone looking for a special night out.
Although we made reservations about a month in advance, we still had to wait about 20 minutes to get our table. They were very apologetic and brought us a complimentary glass of red wine while we waited...nice touch. Food was quite good, could have been a little hotter in temperature. Overall we would recommend The Marc.
Managed to get a booking for this rightly popular eaterie! Good welcome with water and bread served promptly. Starters v good esp the char cakes! Steaks were amazing - best I've ever had! Desserts excellent esp the beigne! Overall bill very reasonable - hope to return next time we are back in Ab!
The Marc is a favorite for business lunches or for special-occasion dinners. The menu is fresh, seasonal and creative, and we have never been disappointed in a meal here. Service is always friendly, knowledgeable and efficient.
The Marc was good, but not fantastic, like I had been led to believe. The food was fine, adequate but no one had something that they thought was the best they'd had, or anything like that. I had the sablefish with risotto: way too much risotto, quite gooey. Menu was pretty limited as well. We ordered cocktails, which took forever to arrive, and before we had started to enjoy them, our... more
Not the best restaurant for day to day, not very exciting or varied menu, but impeccable service and ambiance. Great experience was had by the whole group. Food was outstanding with really good service!
First two known choices of restaurant were not available so we tried The Marc. We were not disappointed. It was a fitting start to our three-week vacation in France. We will visit again!
Casual service. A blend of French and other. The wine list is extensive with plenty of good wine under $50 a bottle. The owner, Patrick, is very attentive to his clientele.
Enjoyed a tasty meal at the Marc at the weekend. Shared the Arctic Char cakes for appy...delicious, I loved the accompanying slaw...very tasty! My husband ordered the seared scallops and was very pleased. I opted for the entrecôte & frites paired with a large glass of pinot noir....très bon! We managed to squeeze in a shared portion of their infamous chocolate walnut cake with salted caramel... more
Food: heirloom tomato and green bean salad was simple yet excellent. grilled octopus was prepared sous-vide and while the flavours were nice, we weren't a fan of the texture. Arctic char dish was great - fish was cooked to perfection and the herb puree was a great accompaniment. Grilled bavette is good if you don't want the full 10oz ribeye - very flavourful piece of meat, but we still prefer... more
We he decided last minute to have a late lunch me were able to sit on the patio. It we a sunny day, but still a little cool. In addition to the food (daily fish special has never failed to please) and attentive service, the staff bought a small blanket/wrap to keep the chill away. I have dined there often and will return again.
The food was excellent, with nice portions. There was an original touch to the plates; I had the scallops that were served with a hazelnut and oat crumble, great ! The wine list offers a nice variety of wines, fit for all budget. We also greatly enjoyed the open space in the restaurant, it wasn't too crowded as some other places where your elbows are almost in the neighbour's plate and where... more
The haddock and the vegetables taste was out of this world, very, very nice! It did not dissapoint and followed by the lemmon tartar, made it for a superb lunch, the day was beautiful too, so we got to eat outside!
This restaurant was rated very high so we decided to celebrate my birthday there. The interior is very simple, and a little bit "cold". The view is not spectacular. The staff was pleasant, but we waited over an hour for the food. The beef and lamb portions were fairly small, contrary to pork that was big. So if you are really hungry go for the pork. Side dish is very small, too. Honestly, we... more
I don't get to this place often enough.
French bistro style food prepared simply and beautifully. Service is top notch but not stuffy.
My wife and I went to \u2018The Marc\u2019 for our wedding anniversary, and had a wonderful dinner. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable. The house cocktails were refreshing, and the starters were perfect. For our mains, I went with the bison steak special, and loved it. My wife had the steak frites, which was cooked exactly as promised. Everything was very flavorful; what a great restaurant!
First time here, will be back. Excellent restaurant. The crab cakes appy was great. I had the Pork Shoulder Chop. I'd probably try something else next time, but it was still very good. My wife's Pintade was excellent. Would recommend The Marc for sure.
We found this place by accident - never heard of it but thought we would give it a try. Wow! Food was amazing - small menu though. Decently priced for the quality you get.
I first enjoyed the food at The Marc over a year ago, and they are still doing a great job, creating and presenting excellent food, at reasonable prices, with friendly service. I would definitely recommend this tucked away downtown restaurant. A client surprised me and took me out to lunch. Everything was wonderful, atmosphere, menu, service all exceptional! I was told their evening menu is even more divine. Can't wait to go back when the patio opens up for the summer season.
There are few restaurants that I absolutely love and this is one of the very very few. I came here a handful times and never been disappointed. Parking is harder because it is downtown. We came here for my bfs bday. They are very accommodating and allowed me to bring his cake.
Upon arriving, the hostess offered to take my...

Good food, make sure you don't do a 3 course meal, make sure you share your apply cause the portion sizes are really big. While travelling and staying at the Matrix I was hoping for something quick, but not fast food. Burger Wednesdays are a bargain and with the super selection on tap, its a great quality meal. I plan to go back and try more of their menu.
I've been there twice for lunch and I must say in both cases the food was good. However I'm hard pressed to find 'healthy' food on the menu. I had croque monsieur (sp?) once and it was delish! But oh my it had a lot of melted cheese fat and butter dripping all around. Another time I ordered a salad... more
My husband and I celebrated a Birthday/Anniversary there - just the two of us. We made a reservation, and were greeted at the door by the owner. The Marc's decor and interior design is really beautiful - it's warm and inviting. My wife and I had our share of fine dining all over the world and we are STILL looking for a place close to home we can call our favourite. Unfortunately The Marc didn't meet our expectations. Had a business lunch here with a colleague and the place was packed, and I mean every seat, and the food was excellent. The restaurant is relatively small and the kitchen is in full view so you can really see the care that goes into every meal. I would definitely go back but I'd recommend making reservations.
Don't waste your money, this place is definitely in the overpriced and pretentious category! Sure, they have a very classy atmosphere if that's what your priority is, but they are falling short everywhere else. The space is much smaller than we expected, and so was the menu. Normally that would not bother us, but when the proportions of the entrees... more

We dropped in for dinner with no reservation and were surprised to find it nearly full on a monday night. We were able to get a table for a short meal and thoroughly enjoyed the food, the service and atmoshphere. I had the lamb shank and it was cooked pefectly to me. I look forward to returning.
Although the food was lovely and service was professional the portions were quite small,(2 1/2 baby potatoes is inexcusable !) I would not be excited to return unless someone else paid. The tables were too close together as you were party to your neighbour's conversation. It was a bit loud due to the over abundance of smooth surfaces.
I recently took a job downtown and in this role I must entertain regularly for lunch. The Marc has become my main meeting point. Have had lunch here a number of times and had dinner here twice. Great menu with new specials that are always good. The fish special I have always enjoyed. The omelette is a nice change up for lunch. Having been to the Marc several times, I thought it was time to write a review.
