Located in the heart of downtown Toronto - The Fairmont Royal York is a world renowned historical landmark. Steps away from the entertainment district - convention centre - CN Tower - shopping and directly connected to offices via the PATH System.
Love this hotel. Very classic and close to many down town events. Beautiful rooms.
Great hotel, beautiful fixtures and great service. The rooms are nice and big.
I went here twice for a christmas party and the place is beautiful! the service is good, the halls are delightful and the rooms are pricey! great location though!
We had an excellent stay here. I was able to get a very good rate on hotels.com. We ordered room service several times and the staff members who delivered the order were always exceptionally friendly and warm. The food was excellent. We also ate in the hotel restaurant and loved our waiter Zach. There was an issue with the room next to us, and when we called to speak with the front desk, they... more
I don't have the time or energy to discuss how awful this experience has been. I've had to check into my room multiple times, just to use my fiancée's credit card (with his authorization), have no dresser, heat doesn't work. The manager is haughty and spiteful and no help at all. Looking into checking out early instead of staying the entire week.
This review is for the afternoon tea. First they use tea bags and not loose leaf tea. Second the food was not fresh (bread tasted stale). Scones were not buttery and flakey. No clotted cream. Jam was from a jar (not homemade). Sweets were okay. Ambiance was okay but the room was small. Service was nice. Waaaaaayy too costly for the quality or food or experience. Thank you - next.
Currently awake as I can't sleep due to being able to hear everything that is being spoken in the room next door. Beautiful and clean hotel but not a great place to actually sleep for the cost as the walls are paper thin.
This was my second time staying at this hotel for Caribana. Love this hotel - it's very fancy looking and clean. Right in the downtown area with so many different options to eat nearby (walking distance or quick Uber ride) There's a free shuttle that goes directly to the YTZ airport right in front of the hotel. Check in/out process was very easy and I had no issues. I was able to ask for a mini... more
Do not stay at this hotel.I paid $339/night for a room with double beds 3 months prior to my stay and upon my arrival was told they did not have any double rooms available. The individual who checked us into the hotel had to go back to the manager where they were able to "dig deep" and locate a room for us with 2 beds. After checking out my credit card was charged $90.15.When I called to inquire... more
The hotel has a great look in the lobby but for the price of the hotel there is a lack of amenities. The rooms are small, there is no fridge, and the toilet paper is extremely cheap. The staff is nice and the hotel is convenient but I have stayed at other hotels where I believe I had a better experience for a lesser price.
It's been a few years since staying in this hotel - the lobby is completely remodeled and spectacular!! The service is great the the rooms really nice the bed we stayed in was a bit hard for me but I was so tired I didn't pay too much attention - location is great walk to everything including the union station across the
Absolutely loved our stay at the Fairmont. I especially love the history behind the hotel. Room was nice and view was great. Amenities are excellent and the pool is nice. The front desk attendants were really easy going and polite. Will definitely be back!
Restaurant located ext to the CN Tower, Blue Jays, hockey stadium and many other attractions. The place is very pretty, comfortable and big, so it is a place to stay. The people are very helpful and warm. The rooms are big and the spaces and beds big. Free WiFi. One of the best
This review is for the bar in the lobby. You will feel like you've gone back in time. Elegant and cozy. Friendliest staff in Toronto. The drinks are made with absolute care and passion. I could sit at this bar and watch the bartenders make drinks for hours. A little pricey, but you get what you pay for, and every dollar spent here is worth it.
Also, there is a pipe smoking lounge. Trés...

The new look of the grand old lady's lobby may take a little getting use to. Gone is the Epic Bar & Restaurent, new is Reign restaurant (with what seems to be a predoment Meat menu) + Bar & a new lobby bar Clockwork.for cocktails & small plates, Fortunately the cozy Library Bar & Piper's Pub have remained un-changed. Naturaly, major renovations & concepts take time to settle down so it will be... more
What was intended to be my first review of 2019 ended up being my 47th review of the year, dealing with a slice of history in the heart of the city, and a date gone wrong last year.
Everyone who lives or has visited Toronto has seen the Royal York. You literally can't avoid it when you exit Union Station. I've had the opportunity to visit the hotel's bar and adjoining restaurant over the...

I thought the price was reasonable for downtown and across the street from union station. The staff are friendly and helpful. If you're planning on sleeping in however, you can forget about it because of all of the renovation pounding, drilling and hammering in the surrounding rooms, including weekends. When I went to Benihana's for dinner which is located in the hotel a cockroach came out and... more
The perfect place to stay while you're in Toronto. The best scenery, the best customer service, the best beds, best prices too. I highly recommend staying here. I will definitely be back again. Thanks guys!
A very nice hotel for a very reasonable price. We did not stay in a renovated room, but ours was still very well-appointed. However, the room was right next to a service elevator that was in near constant use by staff. If you have room 160 on any of the floors, I highly recommend asking to switch.
The other major problem was the valet. We came in during a very busy time, so we understood there...

The staff at this hotel have it down to a science. The hotel remodeling is looking fabulous the room was nicely decorated and I fell in love with the bathroom toiletries. My only concern is the noise level in the room I stayed in it was very thin walls. The room service food is very quality. I recommend having a cocktail in the Library bar.
Tried booking a massage appointment at this club and was hung up on, on my first call. I tried calling back (assuming there was a technical issue) and the lady who answered my call was super rude and unhelpful.
She had an unfriendly demeanour and made me not want to bother booking a massage at their club at all.
They also only have one masseuse and barely have any availabilities.
Not what I...

Honestly I want to give this place a better review because the rooms are nice and the beds are comfy however it's very noisy and loud and I can hear everything the people in the room beside me are talking about it. It's almost too big and I think that's the problem and I feel like there's no privacy. The front desk reception are wonderful.
I had a chance to stay at this hotel this past weekend. And I have to say it was one of the best experiences. We had requested for a bigger room after our booking was done and thankful they were able to provide us with a bigger room plus with no additional cost to us. The service we receive from cleaning staff and bellboy was amazing. They greeted us every morning and every night. After a... more
My rating is for the parking at the Fairmont Royal York in Toronto. Upon check in I was asked to park in the self parking area for the parking fee for 24 hrs of $30(max charge stated). I parked my car for only 20 hours and was charge $70 for it. Upon asking, I'm told that there is a $30 charge for when I parked my car then $10 for leaving it overnight and then $30 for 6a-1p. Wow. So basically I... more
I don't see why I shouldn't give this hotel five stars.Everything was just perfect from our valet to check-in, check-out and in between.
So I was here this past weekend. This was my first time at the Royal York and I was super excited.Soon as I got there the friendly valet service helped us get the car in and unload. The check in was hassle free with many reception counters open for quick...

I really wanted to love this hotel but was a bit disappointed. It's obviously a beautiful landmark but there are some pretty big negatives. The largest is that the room walls are paper thin, you can hear absolutely everything. The room above us was having a very loud party until 2am. The rooms can use some refurbishing as well. The hotel is going through a renovation so it's good to be... more
Just checked in. Paying about 300 bucks a night. The least the hotel can do is clean the Pubic hair off the tub. FML. I also booked a king size luxury bed room and paid a head of time and got 2 double bed normal room. They said they were all booked out. Charged me the same price.
DO NOT GO HERE. $280 was stolen from my friend's wallet by housekeeping. We went to the pool at 10 am, housekeeping saw us and was cleaning the room next door, and when we came back his money was gone. We brought this to the attention of the hotel manager and staff, and to make matters worse they asked us, "Why didn't you lock your money up and put it in the safe?" So not only is this hotel... more
Pains me to do this as I rarely give one-star reviews, but I feel like the business acted dishonestly in charging my credit card.
Here's a summary of the chain of events:
- Checked into hotel in July using credit card points for one night.
- Front desk informs me that they have reservation on file, but not payment. They said they would sort this out; I told them I'm not interested in staying...

I've stayed here 3 times, about once a year, over the last 3 years when I am traveling here for business. A nice old hotel centrally located with easy access to the train and airport. Splurge for an upgraded room for a little more size and a great view.
Nice hotel built in the 1920s, large rooms very clean, comfortable beds. Nice and quiet, always love it when they upgrade me to a suite how sweet is that? All the staff I encountered were friendly and personable and genuinely seemed concerned to say hello or be helpful. A good visit, would stay here again:-)
Our stay at the hotel was comfortable for the most part. The service at the check in counter was fairly fast and informative. The room we stayed in was nice, since it was recently updated. The only issue is that it was a room on the 1st floor so the view from the window was horrible and we could hear the subway through the walls ever few minutes in the morning of checkout. Other than those 2... more
After spending a few days at another hotel In TO, I decided to try the Fairmount after my flight was cancelled. My bed was much more comfortable and overall it was a much better stay. I loved the coveted and trendy Le Labo products as well and loved how modern my room felt the hotel itself is very beautiful and there is beautiful decor and art everywhere. Loved the portraits of The Queen... more
I didn't stay in this hotel but I did attend an event in one of the ballrooms. I was blown away with the quality of the food and the service of the staff. There wasn't anything on the food table that wasn't delicious - from the sliders to fruits & veggies to charcuterie.
Favorites: Crispy Chicken Parmesan with mozzarella cheese, pomodoro pesto sauce, sesame bun & Beef Slider with Dijon Aioli,...

Few hotels leave me speechless and take my breath away as the Fairmont Royal York did. Many reasons for this statement. Let's start by the façade of the hotel: impressive, beautiful, historic (built in 1929). As soon as you pull in front of the hotel with your car there is an attentive valet person to help you. Then you go into the lobby and it's a large very elegant room with old time class.... more
Right out of the 1920s...the lobby and interior is a time warp into another era of the "Toronto The Good"; long before the glass and atrium wave which has basically made this city into a sterile Chicago. I got the room for 138 US...which was a very small room. However the price and product was a match for location and just plain subdued elegance. Fairmount runs a tight ship..having been to... more
Fantastic hotel.
Came here for a conference and the staff was super friendly and allowed us to check in a few hours early! Rooms were spacious and clean. Cleaning staff was also super friendly and accommodating to our schedules. Great facilities including a nice pool, Jacuzzi, and gym. Will definitely be returning to this gem!
Enjoy!
I stayed in 2014 and what a great experience...... staff was polite, great to deal with and explained what needed to be explained!
Loved hearing about how the hotel was haunted from one of the concierge!
To begin - not what I expected for a Fairmont.
Service is fantastic here!! Everyone is very nice and always engages in conversation - even the lovely man at reception when we arrived 1 am on a Friday. Housekeeping was also a delight, as well as concierge.
Our room was very small - as expected from the historic hotel, although as a platinum member I would have expected something a little larger....

Stunning hotel.
Came here for a wedding in one of the ballrooms.
The plated three courses was great: blue cheese and roasted pepper argula salad, truffle mushroom ravioli, and tenderloin. They plated the wedding cake beautifully with fruit as well. There were even amazing fish burgers and lamb sliders when the dance floor opened up.
The staff are also very friendly and professional.
I will never stay here again. I asked for a quiet room when I reserved and again when I checked in. Signs all over the hotel state Quiet Time is 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. I was given a room over a party with the music so loud the entire room shook. I called at 11 to ask for them to send security and they told me they would give me earplugs and that the party had permission to go to 2 a.m. Earplugs... more

Wonderful, super helpful staff
Beautifully redecorated suite.
Loved it
Well.... I can't say this hotel had the complete WOW factor. I usually stay in 4-5 star hotels when traveling and thought this was of the same quality and while the lobby and rooms were fairly nice the service/customer service wasn't there for me. Sadly to say! We had no coffee the entire time as they never could send one that actually worked. Room service was the worst! The nicest part was the... more
The Fairmont Royal York is in a fantastic location in Downtown Toronto, which is why we booked it for a 2 night stay. The staff is very friendly and the rooms were clean, but clearly completely overpriced for what you actually get. To pay that much and still not having Wifi included for example always blows my mind. But the main let down was the bathroom, which was old, very old. Tiles broken,... more
Fairly average Christmas party venue , especially when you consider how nice the hotel is. The food is ok and the alcohol selection is limited and uninspiring. The venue itself is impressive though.
This review is for the main floor/ lobby, Ontario Room and Canadian Room part of the hotel. Long story short, the areas that I visited were dirty, run down, and poorly kept. A pretty disappointing venue.
I was here for a full day conference recently and was easily able to make my way from the TTC Union station, into the underground PATH and straight into the hotel without having to go outside....

Amenities were as expected, although during check-in they refused to grant a couple of special requests that were already granted via email.
this hotel has everything you would expect, from the receptionists, concierge, servers basically all the staff were trained to a very high standard, nothing was too much trouble. I would highly recommend this hotel
Love the look and feel of this hotel. It's very well maintained and the staff is extremely courteous.
The hotel was beautiful and comfortable. It's well located and the restaurants/bars were as good as expected. A very nice place to stay.
The hotel is in a perfect location for discovering all that Toronto has to offer, however it is spoilt a little by the construction work going on outside and in general downtown. The hotel itself is very nice and the room was very large which i find unusual for a central location in a major city. The room was clean and tidy with good facilities and i would have no hesitation in stopping here... more
Huge hotel. I had a room overlooking another aisle of the hotel (not a particularly good view, considering that I had asked for a view on the lake) The bathroom is OK but not very new.
A lot of construction going on around the hotel. For some frustrating reason, there was a planned power stopage from midnight to 5 am the night that I was there for some hotel maintenance. That was annoying. And you could hear renovations going on at 9 am. Not pleasant!
Lobby and communcal areas superb, room a little dated and had twin beds rather than the Quen that was booked. We were however surrounded by the stars as it was the Toronto Film Festival and Bill CLinton, Matt Damon and Brad Pitt frequented the hotel amongst others. Good central location, friendly helpful staff.
Wonderful, well maintained older hotel in a good location. The staff were friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend the Fairmont. My only negative was the parking situation is expensive.
The hotel was excellent. The room was quite confortable and well maintained. However, it was the service that really stood out. The staff was very responsive. They made the stay highly enjoyable. I will be staying at the Royal York again.
This is our third time staying at Fairmont for New Years Eve. This place is the perfect location if you are planning to celebrate New Years in the downtown Toronto Area. The place never disappoints. Check in is quick and simple and the service is spectacular. The only minor detail is they tend to run out of ice every year on this day. I guess the machines cannot keep up with the demand of those... more
At the hub of the metro travel- can get to everything asap.. ok for the room, no view.. missed a view.. great help at the concierge for directions , restaurants etc
I didn't stay there for years and it is still as great as in my memories. Royal York is mainly known for its history and for its location (just above train station and has a direct shuttle to Toronto Island Airport). I would recommend
The Fairmont is a classic grand hotel, with good service and helpful staff. Great location for business in Toronto, convenient and central. The rooms are clean, well maintained, and quiet. My hotel of choice in Toronto.
We enjoyed our stay at the Fairmont ,the architecture from days gone by is impressive.
Yes I would recommend the hotel. The rooms were fairly basic but the hotel itself is "grand". The bridge tournament was run beautifully. I forgot my overnight kit and they provided me with a toothbrush and toothpaste. And when I discovered that my Blackberry had died they rummaged and found an electric charger for my cell. I went down again with my friend's cell and that one was different... more
I would recommend the Fairmont Royal York for its good service and its convenient location. One inconvenience during our stay before Christmas is that the gastropub was closed for the holidays at that time, I would have thought as holidays being the peak time people visit Toronto, that would be the time to keep on being open for customers. The hotel itself was indeed good value for money and... more
