I loved my stay at the CEDARWOOD INN the check-in process went smooth and my room on the second floor was ready. The staff was very polite and helpful. The room was very large and comfortable. I was able to walk to the town center along the waterfront.
My room overlooked the waterfront and I was able to watch the...

The staff were very helpful. The rooms could use some renovations. The said it was within walking distance of the town, but you would have to be fit to walk it. Discovered on our last day that there is a bus to get into town and back. It was convenient for the airport
Firrst I want to comment on how accomodating the staff was while we were at Cedarwood. Any additional request we had was dealt with immediately from requesting a microwave to getting my earring out of the sink drain. You don't find that kind of service in the franchise hotels. The location is absolutely gorgeous - looking directly at the water. We... more
I live in the Gulf Islands and have to stay overnight someplace when I fly out of Victoria Airport, tried somewhere else in the past and it was a little sketchy so someone recommended this place and what a great decision. Unfortunately we were only able to stay one night at the Cedarwood but would have loved to stay longer. The grounds are lovely and overlook the waterfront. All the rooms were clean and equipped for longer stays. We were accommodated in a beautiful suite with amazing vistas. The staff were helpful and courteous. We were within walking distance of downtown... more
We enjoyed our stay at the Cedarwood. The flooring was newish, and the rooms were clean. Furniture and bedding was dated but comfortable. Good internet connection. Good views from the room.
They've done a nice job updating the curb appeal. The only negative was that the rooms are lined with tongue and groove cedar (very 1960's) which has been oiled....

From the outside it looks lovely. Nice gardens to break up the view of a large hotel. Right on the ocean. Not far from anything. Inside needs updating but it works. We were here for my grandmother's memorial. We booked through my business deals list and it seemed fairly easy but for the age of the rooms, it's a bit... more
The name is well deserving not only because of all the cedars growing outside in the gardens, but the exterior AND interior walls are all cedar too. The outside looks really clean, updated, modern and very well taken care of...in the rooms, clean but old and behind the times. The beds aren't that comfortable and the suite we stayed in... more
Imagine, you arrive off the plane from Edmonton,7:30am,take a taxi to The Cedarwood, and are welcomed by a lovely Irish Gentleman, called Peter. The room had a grand description by name, but it was just an ordinary, slightly used motel room, older and a bit run down. Price was OK for leaving the car for 3 weeks, that's why we stayed. From start to finish the customer service was amazing! Peter at the front desk took such good care of us and made sure we had everything we needed. Will FOR SURE stay here again!!! Thank you for the great stay!
We were on an extended trip and were always looking for economy hotels. This place is across the street from the beach. It was lush with flowers. The room was huge. First time staying at The Cedarwood Inn & Suites. We had an upstairs room with large balcony facing the ocean. My husband and I stayed here recently during a road trip on Vancouver Island and Washington State. We paid a little extra and stayed in a second floor suite with view of the ocean. We had a very comfortable, peaceful stay at this complete gem. The Cedarwood Inn has Large relaxing rooms and a splendid outlook. The gardens are just beautiful. There is a special BBQ area. It's dated, and the bed was a little soft, but the view of the Ocean makes it all worthwhile. You are a short and scenic walk from downtown Sidney, but just 10 minutes from Victoria Airport, which makes even the earliest flight very manageable. Beats a normal airport hotel hands down.
WE love this place. We have been coming to Sidney/Victoria for years and always stay at the Cedarwood. It feels like home. The location can't be beat, a walk to the village of Sidney and just across the road from the water. The gardens are just spectacular, as are the views. The rooms feel like cozy cottages, they are not... more
Have stayed here many times over the years. This place is very clean, quaint and hospitable. This time we stayed in one of the original cabins, very cute. We love this place, would not stay anywhere else in Sidney. It is the picture of the Canadian spirit!

The rooms are old in nned of update. Drapes and valence not matching. flooring on exterior halls in poor shape. Wake up call didn't happen. Too expensive for quality of room.
We went there for the BC Day long weekend to attend a wedding near Sidney. Most places were booked up, and this is one of the very limited choices with a king-sized bed. The price is about the same as some cheaper places in downtown Victoria, but it's much closer to the wedding place.

I had trouble finding king-sized beds in the Victoria area, but this place has them for about the same rate. I also like the ventilation in the bathroom. The staff arranged late checkout for us.

There were some switches that didn't do anything obvious. The TV was old-style and tiny. The fridge was kind of noisy.
There for one week, never again. Room was very tired -needs modernizing. room not cleaned on occasion. Dark, dingy, smelly. asked for another room but that was worse. No bar or restaurant on site. Nearest food and drink about a mile walk.
The Cedarwood is a very good option for staying near Victoria if you don't want or need to stay right in the heart of downtown. Located less than a kilometre from the centre of picturesque Sidney, The Cedarwood offers very quiet rooms that are clean and hospitable. The decor is a little dated, but that's part of the charm. We were late arriving and stayed here as it was the first place we saw. Beautiful manicured grounds with close access to the ocean. Inside, another story. The Cedarwood is in our neighbourhood. Since we have downsized we don't have a spare room. So when we have guests we put them up there. The Cedarwood is homey but dated. Great for longer stay if one wants to make use of cooking facilities. Reminds me a lot of 70's basement rec-rooms. Great location across from the beach.

It smells a bit of old carpets, but not objectionably so.
Well located, and well kept. Suites are slightly dated, and upon entry smelled of must and air freshner, but after opening the windows and door for 10 minutes, it was okay.
Facilities and grounds are excellent.

Spent the Canada Day weekend in cottage 111. The cottages have been upgraded with digital cable, free Wi-Fi and a flat screen in the living room. We stayed at the Cedarwood Inn in a ground floor drive-up suite. It had a queen and twin bed combination in the bedroom. Cedarwood was a great location for staying the night before flying out of Victoria BC. We had a nice walk into Sidney for dinner. Very reasonable parking. Taxi to airport took about 10-15 minutes. Room was dark due to wood panelling, but room was clean. Coffee maker was a nice touch. Best room and parking package I found.
The waterfront location, combined with the size of the suite and the motel amenities, made the Cedarwood Inn and Suites a fantastic value for the already economical cost!
We used the Cedarwood as the location to start our vacation. They offer very nice rooms which are convenient to the Victoria Airport and also offer "car parking" for a nominal fee. WE stayed for 5 nights and did not have any kind of a problem. This is a more homey type of a place in the room we stayed in, although i dounderstand they have all different types of rooms. If you are looking for a big fancy hotel then this is not for you, but for us it was great.

The smell of the wood panelling was quite strong, although you get used to it. I think asmatics would have problems. On ground floor, vehicles park right in front of your window, so you wake up your neighbours if you leave early.
Large, comfortable 1 bedroom suite. Waterside setting.

The WiFi connection was unreliable and did not provide a useful data rate. Webpages often would not load.
This hotel is in an excellent location, both to airport, ferry to US, the sea, and ocean view restaurants. We booked late and were pleased to see there was an excellent freeway to quickly get to the centre of the city to attend the opera.
We did not have an opportunity to enjoy much of the facilities as we checked in late in the evening and left early the next morning. Enjoyable and liked the location.
The cleanliness of the room was excellent. They are a bit old fashioned, but really well maintained.
It was convenient to get to Victoria airport and well priced.
Although the room I had was simple, I had a very comfortable and relaxing stay at Cedarwood. The room was warm and inviting. I loved the quick and lovely walk along the shore into town (Sidney). The staff were friendly and helpful. The next time I go back to Vancouver Island, I will stay at Cedarwood again. I recommend it to others.

Location!!! Large room. Beautiful gardens. Because of the older ( retro ) decor Cedarwoods can offer a great location and facility at a reasonable price.
Wonderful place - we would definately stay again. Great view with very nice seating area inside the garden with a view of the ocean. Easy walking distance to the downtown shopping and restaurants.
This was the 8th hotel we had stayed at in as many days and was as comfortable as some of the more expensive ones we had been at. For the price you can't beat the location or the comfort. We've also stayed at the Sidney Pier and its beautiful but more than twice the cost. Cedarwood can't be beat if you're looking to save a little cash.

The only thing we missed was no hair dryer.
beauty of the gardens, ocean, walkway along the water, closeness to town, ease of parking when eating in town. The people at the desk gave us easy directions to find various sights.
