First time here, not the greatest experience.
Sushi and food was ok, nothing special. Price and value is also ok. Very slow service, we had to flag servers down several times. We were brought soup with no soup spoon, waited 5 minutes before we could have our soup. We ordered sushi and sashimi combo to go, also took forever. I finally went up to the sushi bar and ask for it, it was just seating...

I regularly get take-out here as the restaurants tends to get busy during dinner time and it's just quicker to order out. Also, their dining seats are too low for the tables and sag quite a bit. This is your typical Korean-run sushi restaurant. Cheap prices, good portions. There have been several times where toro was unavailable at this location. Sometimes I also find the rolls are made a bit... more
Quantity over Quality. You get a lot of sushi for your money, but quality sometimes can be questionable. Service is usually okay to poor cause they are usually pretty busy. I guess lot of people like quantity over quality.
Let's start with the basics:
Very fast service
Nice and comfortable decor, although it is a small space so you may have to wait a while for dinner time if you are coming with a large group. We came with 7 people and we waited 30 minutes to be seated. Very loud atmosphere.
Prices are very reasonable considering the portion sizes. It is actually a lot cheaper than many other sushi restaurants...

Ordered takeout and was quoted 20 minutes. It took well over 30.
Ordered dynamite roll, yam tempura roll, negitoro roll, salmon avocado roll, and avocado roll.
I have eaten here before and it was your typical cheap sushi (what's to be expected for the price). However on this visit, I'm not sure if the rice was hot when these rolls were prepared, but the fish was warm and tasted "fishy"....

I'm unsure as to why the rating is so low when this place is slammed all the time! If you are coming to have dinner here be prepared to wait! The reason for the long line ups is the sheer volume of food you get for the price . Because they go through so much food the fish is generally very fresh. Best value hands down the tuna sashimi!
Always a busy restaurant which is warranted by the generous portions and good pricing. We frequent this chain quite often however we ordered takeout and they forgot half of our food. We live 30 minutes and they told us after realizing when we got home to come back for the rest of the food. They didn't apologize, they didn't do anything for us. If I didn't live so far I would probably have went... more
As bad as they come.. Crushed Alaskan roll with sauce hastily sprayed everywhere, subpar service, fruit flies and worst yet, plastic tea cups that smell like rotten fish. Used to be my favourite (best bang for buck) now it's simply tasteless and overcrowded.
PROS
+ Large portions at cheaper prices
+ Decent quality
CONS
- Food is hit-and-miss
- Service tends to be poor
- A lack of parking spots
- Waiting can be pretty bad

There are three significant Korean-owned Japanese restaurants in Vancouver: Sushi California, Sushi Garden and Sushi Town. They are somewhat connected (from what I've...

Sushi town is pretty bad, portion sizes got smaller in size, service is just getting worse and worse every visit. Food flays are everywhere and smell is just disgusting. Highly recommended avoiding this place
Go-to place for some Japanese food. Nothing fancy, though if you are looking for upscale Japanese food. Reasonable price and generous portions. Can be a little noisy but again we go for the food. Wait time can be long so be sure to put your name on the book as soon as you get int - don't wait for the waiter to see you.
Food and prices are good but the service is terrible and I wish I had taken a picture of their takeout because of how horrendous it looked and how poorly it was put together. I tried getting takeout on two different occasions because I live so close and it was not even during a busy time, both times I was shocked by how gross it tasted and looked and ended up throwing it away.
Only 2 stars today.
Good VFM
Bad fruit flies everywhere. At least you get to practice your chopstick skills catching flies!
Good value, ok favour
If you want big portions but don't want to pay the big bucks, this place is perfect for you. Not a good spot for hardcore foodies because it's very generic.
Sushi town is my go-to sushi restaurant in Coquitlam. Admittedly, the service isn't great; the waitresses only come around maybe once a meal to fill your drinks and waiting for the food to arrive is like rolling a die. However, you do get a very satisfying meal for a reasonable price.
The spicy salmon sashimi is great value for the price. It comes with a lot of salmon along with a hefty...

My friends and I love eating dinner here, and we go at least twice a month. The portions are surprisingly large for the low price, and they have a menu with over 100 items.
Service is usually fast, although I've had a couple dinners that was almost like they forgot about us. That being said, the sushi is average. Average, but for the price it is most definitely worth it.
The tea (which is...

Tonight I came in expecting okay tasting sushi. But lets go back in time for a little bit. I came in the restaurant, we we not acknowleged by any waitresses. Turns out you sign a waiting list to be seated. We were not made aware of this, so I ended up waiting for 20mins. Not ideal, if you ask me. So after we were finally seated, the food took a boatload of time to be served. Another 30 minutes... more
I still think the food is reasonable, but I've resorted to only eating take out. I can't stand sitting in the restaurant with poor service. I get visited by fruit flies more than the servers. They are still very busy because the prices can't be beat, but I just can't put up with the environment and having to leave a tip for such poor service.
Just moved here from TO and had to have sushi. I'm so glad we came here and had the "giant" spicy salmon and tuna sashimis! So delish! It's too bad their tea brewer wasn't working. It's not right not getting served tea in a sushi restaurant.
We haven't been back to Sushi Town since the renovations have been completed until Monday night.
The restaurant is INFESTED with fruit flies which indicates rotting food left in the restaurant. We moved tables 3x to get away from the flies.
Very difficult to have dinner while these fruit flies try to land on your food.
I brought it to the attention of 2 waitresses and it wasn't important to...

Best sushi in town. Food comes out quickly. Portions are big and prices are cheap.
Awesome Roll is awesome. Fantastic Roll is fantastic. Spicy tuna and salmon sashimi portion is massive!
They are constantly packed and there's usually a wait line to be seated, but it's worth the wait!
No time for the fish to get stale because there is a constant turnover of people eating from the time they open...

Simple: food is good. Service sucks.
It's like they never served to the public ever. Maybe it's just racism. I don't know. #fail
My family and I were expecting great things from this place since the lineup was so long, but boy were we disappointed!
They don't take reservations, so we ended up waiting 20 min for a table for 4. Not the best, but not absolutely terrible. The atmosphere was decent too.
In terms of the food, it came very quickly and was very reasonably priced. We tried the Dynamite Roll, Chicken Teriyaki...

The sushi rolls had worst presentation ever. lol But taste was average and food came so fast after we ordered. So 3 satrs.
Wow, what a disappointment. This used to be our favourite place for Sushi. We ordered take out, Alaska Combo, Dynamite Combo, Spicy Tuna Combo, Smoked Salmon Roll, Mangodise Roll and Awesome Roll. They have shrunk the size of the orders. The rolls are definitely smaller, even the nigiris. In Spicy Tuna Combo - the Spicy Tuna Sashimi is half the size of what you used to get- it was barely a... more
Food: Would you like something else with that mayo? Items that have mayo are saturated with it--yuck!
Service: Robotic, rude. If you are unhappy with an item and you don't eat it they will not refund your money. The seafood salad is awful :(
Based on my research if you want good sushi check out: Sushi Boss, Sushi K Kozimoto, Sushi Hun (all in the Coq/poco area)
My wife and I visited Sushi Town for the first time the other day. We went for dinner as a couple. We had to stand in line for about ten minutes, which I gather is pretty normal for this place. The establishment was packed and very noisy, mainly we though due to poor acoustics in the room itself. The conversations... more
I've been to this place twice, and both evenings we had to wait in a queue. Staff was rather busy then friendly, but this is what this place is - very effective mass production food plant. We didn't wait for too long neither to be seated, nor for the order. This place is NOT expensive, and totally destroys "fast-cheap-tasty, choose... more
It feels like I am in an classroom here! No atmosphere. The service is awful.
However the sushi is completely average, so I can't give 1 star..
Go somewhere else.
Fair prices and sectioned seats in moody lights. Delicious "Awesome Roll" and others. Pretty good to dine out for family.
Good food at a reasonable price. Service is usually quite disappointing and can be improved.
Good: spicy salmon sashimi is a must try.
Bad: anything avacado is usually a sloppy mess. Which sucks because I love avocado :(
I placed an order for pickup. Half an order of spicy salmon & tuna sashimi. They gave me an order of regular sashimi. I called, the server was named MJ she said that is what I said. No sorry!
I told her that wasn't what I said. I asked to speak to her manager she said no, he is cooking.I...

This is a busy restaurant out in the suburbs. This means the sushi is usually very fresh. They have a decent variety of rolls and sushi. But they don't have a lot of variety for cooked food for your more squeamish friends.
I think the owners are Korean so the spicy sashimi is a popular item. The service however is...

Always great value and high quality, and the staff are so friendly. Recently remodelled with very comfortable booths. We are regulars, because you can't beat the food and the price.
Hmmm I don't seem to like the coquitlam sushi town. It's too busy cuz its really cheap but the taste was not really worth it. I guess the only time I'd go there is when you have a big grp to feed?
I've been meaning to write this review for quite some time now, even though it was from a couple of months ago, I still think about Sushi Town's spicy salmon sashimi. Looking forward to the next visit. I can see why this place is popular. The other items we had were quite good too, the red roll, the double dragon... more
I took my mom and girlfriend to sushi town for my mothers birthday. Probably not the best place to try and impress your mother but it was close and I had to work. I figured it was going to be a dive from the outside, it was just so generic, but I don't like to try the same sushi restaurant twice because its very hard to find a good one (seeing as most Japanese restaurants are Korean run, which... more
Probably the prettiest of all of their locations, even better than North Van.
High ceilings, trendy loft decor, booth seating, a bit lounge-like; it's a repeat for me, hands down the best looking one in Coquitlam.
And the awesome roll still can't be beat!
Food was awesome. Service was awful. If you are someone who goes to a restaurant, order once (and ask for nothing else not even for tea refill), get up and go to the counter to pay, then this is the perfect place for you. And truthfully, I'm that type of eater so no complaints for me, but my gang was a little upset they couldn't flag down a waiter/tress for 10-15 minutes =9
We tolerated the busted up decor and rude servers pre-renovation because the value for the dollar was so great. They've renovated both the physical space and the servers' attitudes - both are way more inviting. The food is still pretty good too. We were regulars before because of the decent prices. Now we're much happier with the entire experience.
I would give a 0 for quality but the lowest I can give is one star.
Here are the reasons why today's experience was horrible:
- They made us wait 30 minutes before getting seated.
- Very very very slow service.
- Waitress Hannah actually told me to wait 15 minutes for a dish. I agreed to wait but the 15 minute wait ended up being a "oh sorry, apparently we are running out of ingredients to...

This restaurant has just been freshly renovated. When we went the other day, it was packed and a line-up of only a few minutes.
The food was very good - generous portions of sashimi - Tuna or Salmon for 8.95 - large pieces.
Rolls start at just 2.00!!
A great place for sushi that is very affordable.
We used to order sushi take away as the place was not pleasant to eat in, but now they remodeled it and it looks really nice and modern.
The sushi/sushimi are always great and freshly made, the 'awesome roll' is our favored.
Excellent food, descent sized portion, great price.
No complaints.. Except sometimes for their lineups... And their washrooms..
Always a favourite when I'm in the area. Line-ups can be long at dinner time, so we try to arrive a little early/late. Love the spicy salmon sashimi!
A very busly Coquitlam sushi restaurant that specializes in large helpings and low prices. The decor is tolerable (sort of like a bingo hall or cafeteria style) but service is usually prompt and the food is freshly prepared and quickly served. The menu selections are somewhat limited but should be more than adequate for most sushi lovers. If you are... more
Of the Yelp reviewed places that I've tried...this place matched its rating! yayyyyyy!
The sushi is Mcdonald type quality and the service (maybe because the waitress thought I was cute) was actually better than what I've read! She came around a few times asking to see if we wanted more tea!

Been here twice too many. They serve generous helpings of sushi at a great price. However the sushi is absolutely terrible, served with far too much of the warmest sushi rice I have ever tasted. They will take your order and maybe remember to give you some more tea. This is definitely not the place to complain about service!
THE GOOD: The "portions".
THE BAD: nothing as long as you don't take the lack of attention a bad thing...
The Sushi? Well...you aren't there for the "quality"....you won't go wrong with the "quantity".
I used to come here for sushi twice a month for several years but the service has just gone down hill, The portions are huge and the quality O.K. but when you wait 20 minutes after asking for them to pour you a cup of tea you just have to ask is the low quality service worth the low cost... more
I like the food here, but I have to think twice or really be in the mood of waiting, because out 5 visits, I have alaways something to complaint about the service. If you don't mind the waiting, you will eat a very decent japanese food.
I'm a regular at this place. Amount and Quality is great. Service a bit slow however it is worth to wait
After operating the Burnaby location of Sushi Town for several years, they've opened up a second location in Coquitlam two blocks west of Coquitlam Centre. Unlike Burnaby's fairly run-down location, this one is new and clean, although as a single big room it lacks any sort of atmosphere. And they're big on turnover. So be warned, you're not going there... more
