Visited many sushi restaurants in Vancouver and Richmond BC. This by far has been the best sushi. Nice and fresh. Coconut prawns a must!
.
We have been supporting this local business since its first year and have always found the take out to be high quality. The people are friendly and they remember us - that's always nice
Another wonderful time at my favorite sushi restaurant. The service was quick and the food fantastic. You can say Sushi Ichi did it again.
Very good food with very good prices! We come here every time we visit Parksville. Side note: they are not open for lunch on the weekends.
Price range is decent but their food is the best so far on the island. I love fish especially raw fish. I grew up in Japan so I always miss sushi so bad and this is the only place I would go. If you love Japanese food, this is the place to go. This place gets really busy at dinner... more
We have been here twice before with excellent service and food. Erase both of those thoughts for our visit Dec. 22.
Terrible service. Some food arrived before water and sake, which took 30 minutes to get to our table. One of our family actually went and got the water jug and refilled glasses and then went and refilled the jug...

We have visited this restaurant quite a few times and enjoyed many of its dishes. Having been to Japan, my husband likes a number of less common sushi and never has "rolls" with his meal. His feeling is if you are a novice with sushi you will probably be fine. If not check out the soft-shell crab rolls and the... more
My husband and I have gone to this small restaurant a number of times and loved it each time. The staff are friendly and efficient and the food is some of the best Japanese food we've had on this side of the Pacific. Last night we took a group of 13 and they were very accommodating and upheld their reputation.... more
I have been going to Sushi Ichi for a long time, and always have the best Service and the Best sushi. My hat goes off to the staff there who are always so friendly and remember my name. The delicate touches put into the meal are subtle but do not go under looked."Masters of the knife"If you would like a great place... more
The Sushi Ichi always present a delightful Bento box selection at lunch times, well worth the visit.
The staff is extremely friendly, the owner and front end sushi chef's are excellent, the food is fantastic if you sit at the tables or at the Sushi bar. I will keep coming back. I like the Nabiyaki Udon soup, Tuna Tetaki, and the rolls. Bon Apitit
The sashimi was the best we ever had - amazingly fresh and tasty. That may have something to do with being located on the ocean and having access to fresh caught seafood. However, everything was excellent - the gyoza, the salad, the agedashi tofu, etc. Our kids wanted to eat there every day. Service was friendly and personal.
This may reputedly be one of the better sushi restaurants in the area---but let it be known that 'Nori' in Nanaimo is a far superior restaurant with higher grade and vastly fresher seafood, fantastic plate/a la carte presentation, better eating environ and far and away much greater table/bar service.
Sushi Ichi--I recommend the tobiko with quail egg (ample quantity of...

We went here for an anniversary with another couple. We had visited previously. The halibut and prawns tempura was really good, as was the veggie tempura. We had rice and the tsunomono salad. The other couple had bento boxes and were quite happy with them. We have tried the bento box in the past ourselves and have always enjoyed it.... more
This is my favorite sushi place in town. It was really busy the place was packed we were able to make reservations before hand. We each had a nice sonomono salad and the Sashimi was so fresh. I had the Sashimi box which had a little of everthing really good value. Our favorite rolls are the Parksville roll (not on... more
We have been hearing very positive things about this restaurant since moving to the area. We ordered tempura which was good,as was the miso soup. The entrees were not terrible but not as good as we were expecting based on reputation. We ordered chicken teriyaki and spicy tuna. The tuna was somewhat overcooked and dried out. The vegetables with the... more
We've tried the others and, although there is one that comes close, this is definitely our favourite here in the Oceanside area. There's a reason the place is busy, especially on weekends and in the summer.
The staff are always friendly and efficient. The food is consistently good and authentic. Whether you want the sushi or sashimi, they do it...

We love Sushi Ici. The service is awesome and the food is incredible and very reasonable. We would recommend sushi lovers make a point of trying the restaurant - make a reservation on weekends - it gets very busy.
Best sushi in town..........and the staff are sooo pleasant!
I always ask for something not on the menu, as I learned over time from a friend who goes at least weekly, and that is "The Parksville Roll", try it, and have a side of the oysters with mayonaisse.
I have been eating here for over twelve years and it always fresh and delicious! The prices are also quite reasonable for such great quality! Can't wait to go again!
In Parksville on Vancouver Island, this is the place to go for good, wholesome, traditional Japanese food. It has a family atmosphere.
The bbq eel is excellent. The assorted sushi and sashimi are very good as are the selection of boxes.
Wonderful menu, staff are wonderful, fresh food. In general you can find something for everyone there (raw, cooked, meals, drinks). They are family friendly but not kid over run. Too bad they open later afternoon and close early, but that is Parksville for you.
During a recent vacation to Parksville/Qualicum and points beyond, we were looking for a Japanese restaurant to satisfy our young son, who loves unagi (BBQ eel) rolls. A local recommended Sushi Ichi to us, and we were not disappointed. The unagi was tasty, as was the bento box dinner, filled with standard fare (teriyaki, tempura, edamame) and some treats (a... more
I haven't been to Sushi Ichi in a while as I had too many bad experiences with the quality of the seafood. When we complained to the waiter about the terrible quality and lack of freshness of the seafood that we were served, she told us the chef said they were fine and they would not take the charge off... more
This is the restaurant that introduced my kids to sushi. Well done sushi, rolls, yakitori and gyoza. Have not had a bad meal here
The best sushi we've had on the island! Don't look anywhere else..find Suchi Ichi and enjoy your dinner! Don't forget to order a Parksville Roll!
Love Nobu, the owner, and crew. Everytime we come in and sit at the bar, we get entertained by them while they concentrate making sushi for everyone. It's the best authentic Japanese sushi we've ever had on the island and if you are new in town and not like raw fish, make sure you try their Parksville Maki roll which... more
Quaint. Nothing fancy.
Friendly service and reasonable prices. The food was excellent.
Small quiet little place. Service was OK, sushi was very good. We will be back
Wide variety to choose from...all excellent. For those who don't like sushi, there are many alternates to choose from.
The service here was top notch. Prices were decent. Food was decent. Can't go to far wrong here.
Sushi is one of the favourite foods of my wife and I. Having lived in Japan for about 10 years, I am very familiar with sushi! This restaurant consistently provides very good sashimi and sushi as well as a number of other Japanese dishes. We have eaten at almost every sushi restaurant from Victoria north to Campbell River and Sushi... more
This place is always packed. We tried once before to get in but the line-up was so long we ordered take out, went away and came back. Obviously reservations are a good idea. This time we went super early and got in before the dinner rush. My dinner partner and I split an entree of edamame as well as the... more
If you are a sushi lover than you owe it to yourself to visit sushi ichi for the best sushi you will experience anywhere. Prices are reasonable and the cuban waitresses are hot. Summer time the patio is nice and sunny. Its definitely a sushi experience worth trying.
We used to love their food but the main chef left over a year ago and opened his own sushi place and we found the quality of the food at Sushi Ichi went downhill after that so we stopped ordering take-out from there. Fortunately, we found the chef's new place and we go there now. We have not been to... more
Decided to give this place another try.....never again.
Sat at the sushi bar ,tried to chat with the chefs - very unfriendly . A few grunts was all ,.so I settled in to watch the hockey game.
There was a weird odor in the place, sort of musty ,not appetizing. Sipped my tea, watching the food being prepared. Ordered the chirachi don....

The food was okay .... Chef needs to give regard to portion size,
manageability of rolls before they all fall apart when picked up .
Somewhat overpriced .. but again this is The Island
Just really tasty and fresh. The bento box is especially good value for lunch.
I alway enjoy my evening out and so does my husband who's not a big sushi fan. He orders the tempura and I order sushi and we share the big bottles of Japanese Beer.
We've eaten here several times and the sushi and cooked dishes are always consistently good!
I love the fact that you can get tofu/soy wrappers here instead of nori since I don't eat nori. The food is excellent and the service is good. The Da-Rich roll is my favourite, with the Parksville Roll a close second.
The gyoza and tempura prawns are must-haves!
My husband and I have eaten sushi in many places across Canada and the USA. Although this place is nothing to rave about outside and is really simple and basic inside, we were not at all disappointed in the sushi we ordered. It's our first visit and we will be back.
We tried two of the day's specials: Seafood Gyoza...

Always a nice meal. The restaurant also has local fruit wines.
I have had sushi many places in the US and Canada and I have never had sushi as fresh, innovative, and tasty as at Sushi Ichi in Parksville. The staff are hard working gracious and in service to all clients. It is not fancy but very comfortable and I am not there for the atmosphere just sushi that I can... more
My boyfriend and I came to this restaurant on our visit to Parksville in September 2011. We arrived for lunch on Tuesday September 27, 2011. The restaurant was dated on the outside but had a clean interior. The one dining room we were seated in was small and so the buzz of a few neighbouring tables could easily be felt.... more
People vote with their feet and this restaurant does a roaring trade, locals and tourists, both for takeaway and sit down.we ate there twice and loved it, great sushi, lovely staff.
This is an authentic Japanese restaurant with the chef and servers from Japan. It has a causual atmosphere with a fairly standard Japanese menu - Sushi and Bento boxes. The Bento Boxes come with many extras - diakon salad, rice, prawn tempura, etc (all for extra cost). We were slighly put-off by the extra charges for tea, tofu in the... more
Friendly staff but WOW....3 one bite pieces of greasy halibut and 2 greasy prawns for $10 and the yakisoba was also very greasy with a few pieces of cabbage in it. Sushi was mediocre and miracle whip was used, not misonnaise. The worst was the Shrimp sunomono, which consisted of the rice noodles and 4 tiny salad shrimp....no other additions!... more
Awesome Sushi! They give you lots of wasabi and ginger and the combo plates are actually enough for one hungry guy. Everything tastes really fresh. I love eating here.
