Stopped in based on recommendation and enjoyed our dinner very much. The service was friendly. The ambience is not great though charming. The room is fairly low end for decor and tables, but they save it with a coloring contest for children with their 'art'... more
We dropped into Sushi Hama for an early dinner and despite it being very busy we were immediately greeted and seated by the waitress. The menu is diverse, the food fresh, flavourful and well presented.
Great food, great service.
We almost walked right past this amazing place during the summer - don't let the rustic ambiance turn you off. The inside is very rustic, and average - it was the excellent sushi and very low price that kept us coming back. It gets busy around 5:00 and we noticed they were not able to accept take out orders, and only dine-in. Make a reservation so you're not disappointed.
We LOVE good sushi and a friend suggested Sushi Hama. Off we all went! It's a plain, very small restaurant serving excellent sushi. Everything tastes exquisitely fresh. The atmosphere is quiet and friendly. We returned again and had the same excellent experience.
Great sushi for a unreal low price. Sushis were presented with care. Tasted so good we came back the day after.
Peter the chef , has an amazing crew behind him !!! This chef rolls and makes every plate in this restaurant. It can only sit 30 people so if it is full , don't worry , take out is always available.
But worth visiting. It can hardly be described as a romantic lace, but the food is great and not expensive. Authentic 9 waitress barely spoke English) but great service and great food, won’t break the Bank either..
Had a craving for sushi on our weekend getaway on the Island and decided to try Sushi Hama as it was recommended by our Air Bnb host. Made reservations on the day of and when we arrived around 7pm, most of the tables were taken. It's a nice family friendly, casual restaurant with cute monthly drawing contests for children. Staff was attentive and friendly. We shared a few dishes including the... more
Came here for the first time right after coming from the gym next door and ordered a tuna roll and tempura. Both were amazing, and were really tasty and fresh! My favourite part was going to the courtyard and getting to eat outside. Heard lots... more
Wow, this place is incredible! It was fresh, tasty, so many great options and a great price! I can’t say enough about all the great food! We got the Alaska roll which had crab and smoked salmon and both flavors came through beautifully. We also... more
Went here for dinner after seeing great reviews. Small restaurant with limited sitting but great food. Service was fast and the sushi was delicious. Looks like a popular take-out place as lots of walk in for pick up.
My friends and I were very happy to find a Japanese restuarant in Qualicum Beach during our visit! Considering there aren't many Asian influenced restaurants in the area the food here is pretty decent with reasonable pricing. We ordered ebi mayo, salmon oishi, beef teriyaki and tokoyaki. The salmon oishi was decorated very cute with a bunny shaped quail egg and there was good flavour and amount... more
Love this restaurant. Their Bento boxes, Noodles dishes, sushi, and sashimi dishes are all excellent. The last time I was there, I ordered a chicken noodle dish. Delicious. At lunch, it is very busy so there was a wait for the food, but definitely worth it.
There is a reason this little restaurant has great reviews! Great sushi!!! It's a tiny lot little spot tucked in a mock European village looking Qualicum Beach Street where you can expect the sidewalks to be rolled up even on a Saturday night. Apparently it's the place for families with small children who are learning to drink green tea and eat sushi. The cook came out around the corner to... more
Never had a Takoyaki like this! It's so great! Prob the best Takoyaki on the island!
We had the sashimi and a couple of rolls. The sashimi was half frozen which is the way I like it and the rolls were super tasty. Good gyoza too.
There were a couple of families in the restaurant at the same time, which made it a little noisy, however, didn't deter us from enjoying our food.
When we're in the area, we will return.
Omg. We came to check it out as there were rave reviews. They did not disappoint in fact I am so impressed. Large portions. Creative menu. Delicious!!
This tiny spot is a great find and avoids many of the pitfalls that bedevil Japanese restaurants. It's not fancy but they deliver on food. The bento boxes were incredibly reasonably priced and all the ingredients were fresh. The sushi rolls were also fresh and had not been sitting around all day. Service was good but the wait times at peak were long. That's probably to be expected since so much... more
We stopped here based on the great reviews on Yelp and were not disappointed. The sushi was fresh and the portions were generous. The Red Dragon Roll was a hit with the family!
Had wonderful sushi. Service was really good. Limited seating, people were turned away when we were here. We tried our first deep fried roll and it was delicious. I would go here again in a heartbeat.
Don't let the modest interior fool you. The food is of the calibre you would pay far more for in a fancy decor restaurant in Vancouver. Tried the "Jalapeño Bomb", at the suggestion of the server when asking what was unique on their menu. And had tuna sashimi that was of top quality. Lyndsay had tempura and the "Qualicum Roll". All were quite good, made by Peter and his team.

Best sushi in Qualicum. Fresh seafood, decent prices. Reminds me of the calibre of sushi you can find in Vancouver. Try the spicy salon sashimi! Yumm
By far one of the best sushi experiences I've ever had! The Bay Island Roll is absolutely astonishing. That same roll in Toronto is $30! It is a must have roll if you come to this lovely, warm and friendly establishment.
The service was great, the taste was amazing and the memories of the dishes were lasting.
Put it this way, once i'm on my way back from Tofino and passing by Qualicum...

My favorite place to eat sushi every summer when I visit Parksville & Qualicum Beach. The inside is quite small but perhaps that's how they're able to keep their prices appropriate. High quality sushi at a reasonable price. A+
One of the best sushi places I've experienced, nice genuine people. Great value for the menu items. Our Vancouver family members rave about Sushi Hama. Recommend reservations for groups of more than 2 people because the place is small, intimate.
Sushi Hama is by far he best sushi I have ever had. I have been to numerous sushi places in Vancouver and Victoria and none of them can compare to this. The staff go out of their way to ensure a memorable meal. Peter is generous and gracious and I highly recommend this restaurant.
Great little "hole in the wall." The menu was fantastic and the food was amazing. BJ's entertainment was a bonus:) We had sushi, sashimi, and two rolls. Everything was delicious. So glad we found this place. We will definitely be back! This is our new sushi spot and are already looking forward to our next dinner here.
Best sushi in Qualicum beach! We stayed in Canada for 3 days and had sushi Hama for 3 times. The chef was very nice and carved a flower and a swan for us! Very good service. Bento box, tempura udon and unagi roll are recommended.
Having tried sushi from every restaurant on vancouver Island South and North Island we were surprised when this tiny restaurant served us the best Bento box we have yet been served. Staff are lovely and genuinely concerned about your satisfaction. We have been back 5 times since they opened and can't wait for the next visit! Long live sushi hama!
My two kids (5 and 8) and I were visiting Qualicum Beach for the day and were looking for a good place to stop for lunch. We weren't thinking of sushi (who goes to Qualicum Beach to have sushi???) but we just happened to walk by Sushi Hama and ran into one of the staff outside. After a nice chat we decided to give it a try and boy, were we glad we did!
The staff were really friendly. The chef,...
