Immerse yourself in one of the world's most diverse cities, as a distinguished guest of The Strathcona Hotel. Situated right across from Union Station, the ACC and Rogers Centre. On-site Pub and Café
I came here on business. My company sends employees to Toronto from Vancouver very consistently, and we thought perhaps the Strathcona would be a good hotel to use for our home base. Definitely not.Where to begin... I'm hoping that this hotel would try to make this right after the dreadful experience that I've had so far, but the chances are slim. Dear Strathcona, there's still time! The... more
Now I did not stay at the hotel but I did come to it for breakfast as it was also my pick up point for a Niagara Falls tour. Breakfast is served buffet style with many options. The staff was extremely friendly often reminding me of the time so I would not miss my shuttle to Niagara.
Love this place for clean, updated, quiet rooms, friendly service and better than average prices. Yup, rooms are small. Yup, no view to speak of, but if you're a road warrior-business traveler, looking for a bed and a shower, this is the place. Literally steps from the entrance to UP express. I've paid a lot more for a lot of amenities I didn't need. Thanks desk crew Serhiy and Tiffany for... more

Booked my room 2 weeks ago and after traveling from nyc to Toronto, I come to the front desk of this hotel to check in. They told me that there was a problem and that they did not have my room and I would have to go somewhere else. Small rooms with no sound proofing. Location is great for getting around downtown and it is close to Union station. Rooms are clean and service is good.
Location, Location, Location! That is what this hotel has going on for it in spades. Kitty corner to Union station and a hundred cheaper than the Royal York right beside it makes the Strathcona an easy pick if you are coming down for a night at the ACC then back again on the train.

Worst experience ever. I stayed here for 10 days for work. The staff is completely incompetent. It over 30 minuets to check in because they cancelled my reservation because I didn't check in on time. The rooms were clean and chamber staff was pleasant( they... more
Service was good, room was nice, but not clean feeling, the sheets were dusty/had lint all over them, and one of our towels had a stain on it so i had to ask for a new one. Location is great, close to the Air Canada Centre and Union Station, and some good bars and restaurants within walking distance.
Overall poor experience. I stayed in an executive suite on the first night. The internet did not work and instead of the hotel taking care of the problem they said that the internet is provided by a third party and they gave me a contact number to call. Called the tech support and after over an hour of "troubleshooting" the outcome was for me to call the front desk and have the router reset.... more
I will start with the positives first. Good location, clean hotel and when you can get the staff to answer the phone they are polite. Even the desk attendant laughed when he gave me my key and asked if I ever visited Japan before.......... more
The rooms are clean and I appreciate that they are eco-friendly. However.
I have stayed here twice in the past six months but I think that's it for me.
There was a double charge on my card and it was a complete fiasco to figure out. I had to go down to the desk twice. The first woman was very dismissive. The second time, a man was immediately very defensive and yelled at me! He eventually...

I wouldn't recommend staying here... the location of the hotel is great, however there are many downsides. It is located near union station, but we didn't take the train once. I got the hotel through Hoteltonight and I was kind of shocked that it was two TWIN size beds. I was a sole traveler, but a Queen would've been better.
Also, bring your own amenities because there was no body wash. Not even a bar of soap! What in the world!!...

This hotel is OK for the price given its good location. Room with queen bed is on the small side. Had a bit of a funky smell when I checked in. My shower backed up with water so it almost felt like I was taking a bath. Food was on the OK side but nothing great. WiFi spotty.
Pricey for a tiny size of a hotel room. Only 100 sq ft size. Crammed. Parking spot recommended by front desk staf uber expensive - 24hrs parking w/o in/out privileges was $48. Would never stay there again. No wifi included. TV did not work.
Friends and I were attending an event nearby and booked 2 rooms for a night. Two doubles in each room. The room itself is tiny, but clean. Bathroom is fairly small too. Pros:
Clean.
Modern look - mirrors galore.
Pillows - like a cloud.
Customer service.
Price.
Great location - 5 minute walk to CN Tower, 1 block from bar strip.
Cons:

Spring bed.
No internet - big issue for those roaming.
Thin walls - could not sleep, easily hear normal talking in halls and other rooms.
You get what you pay for in downtown Toronto.
I would recommend avoiding this hotel.
- Not all of the rooms have wifi. Many of the rooms at the end of the hall don't get the connection. This was critical to me. The cell coverage was also bad.
- the rooms are tiny - no desk, no chair. No place to sit except the bed
- the noise is incredible, I had to sleep with ear plugs all night. The road, the doors, it is very loud.

Even it is small hotel without parking, the rooms are renovated, great staff and atmosphere. It is located on the heart of Toronto, 2 minutes walk far from the subway. Just a tip, don't eat the breakfast buffet it's not worth it. Tim Hortons across the street is much better! Every time I'm back in Toronto, I will stay at the Strathcona Hotel!
This hotel was without a doubt the best price for its fantastic location. Room was a bit small, but it was very clean and served it's purpose well.
Rooms are kind of tight and the one I had included no desk, so working in the room was not ideal. But the location is great and the price is right, so I'd go back again.
The Strathcona is a smaller, older hotel, though it seems to have been recently renovated. The rooms are comfortable though a bit cramped. The hotel has no guest parking, so relies on public parking which is somewhat inconvenient.
Not enough sign when walking to the hotel. Walk by it twice.

Poor value for money. Having the toilet next to bed was unpleasant. No fan, no face soap in shower. Slippy floor. No rubber mat in tub unless requested. Toilet continuous flushing. Reasonably priced, good selection for breakfast. Efficient receptionist. Other staff unknowledgeable about local events.
Walking distance to acc. Small room but did the trick.
I cannot believe that a hotel would not automatically offer internet as part of the package. It is deceiving when a hotel offers you a low price but then charges you extra for what most hotels provide for free.

The hotel itself isn't overly bad. The pictures on their site for the rooms do 0 justice. The toilet would not stop running so you had to make sure you giggles the handle. We were too close to the elevator so ding ding ding... all the time.. our room faced a concrete wall. SO zero view so it should have been a lot cheaper I think. Staff were nice, cleaning staff very nice.

Unique Quality: Just Steps From Cn Tower, Union Station, Skydome, Air Canada Centre, Hockey Hall Of Fame, Toronto Eaton Centre, Harbourfront Centre, The Toronto Theatre District. Very central for everything and not far from the Bus stop to the Airport
I got a deal off of Hotwire.com where I only paid $50 US a night to stay here. I would recommend staying here if you're traveling solo. There's also a 24 hour coffee/donut shop right across the street. Also a bus to the airport comes by every 30 minutes, which comes in handy
Unique Quality: I must say the room was incredibly small, but like I always say, if you're on vacation...you should only...

Toronto is like any other world class city...if you want, you can spend a lot of money on a hotel. This tip is not for those of you looking for this option. When we travel (like many VTers), we are are usually trying to find affordable accommodations that provide a minimum level of comfort and security. Along with this we have some other requirements. We're not big on staying out in the suburbs... more
Located right in the heart of Toronto, the Strathcona is an excellent place to stay. You are right next to Union Station which includes VIA Rail trains plus the GO trains for commutes to nearby towns like Oakville.
The rooms are on the small side but nobody can beat the location. Just a minute from Union Station and Via Train, 5 minutes from CN Tower. Opposite is Tim Horton's coffee house which is open 24 hours (I loved their French Vanilla coffee).
Receptionists were friendly, the rooms were tidy. The only thing I didn't like was the wallpaper in the bathroom and the cracked sink.
All in all we had a...

I highly do not recommend the hotel to anyone. We paid $140 for a one night stay here last weekend. First off, The rooms are TINY. Second off, they charged us $320 for a noise complaint we got that was actually the room next to us (due to the paper thin walls). On top of that we had to pay a $100 deposit, that they are not giving us back. The hotel manager on duty, Magda, was very rude and... more
The room was very small with very limited furnishings ie no chair, no dresser. Like being in a walk in closet.
the room was very bad. too noisy from the nears room and bed is very bad with any moving it is generating sounds.
OK hotel; very small rooms; hallways smelled; hard to find because of construction work; you have to walk several blocks for airport shuttle bus; wireless NOT FREE; lobby coffee NOT FREE; friendly, nice staff
early check in
late check out
room temp hard to adjust as controls are in a location that is difficult to see/access
Location to the ACC was excellent
There was hair on bathroom floor and some on the bed
Little awkward to get from parking lot to hotel
No on site parking
Jonas (front desk) very friendly
radio playing in room across hall could be heard in my room
towels not nice - strong bleach smell, small, and scratchy
heater in bathroom broken
good central downtown location
No free WIFI, cheap hotel its really an ok 2 Star property, in a good location. I would not normally stay at this type of property, Rooms are small and bit stale smelling
Room was very small. Bed uncomfortable. Bathroom was dusty. Ac/heat was terrible. Room tempature was freezing. Front counter workers had an attitude. Tiny room.
Location is excellent, very close to train and GO station, and subway, and Porter Airlines shuttle. Right across from a Tim Horton, and Royal York Hotel, which gives you access to underground PATH system of stores and restaurants.

I visit Toronto regularly and have always stayed at the Strathcona
Hotel. It never fails to provide what you expect.
The Strathcona has removed the concierge service which I always thought

Although this hotel has small rooms, it is very clean and modern. Perfect location. Staff very friendly and no hassle over an early check in.If you are planning to stay in room a lot, it maybe a little cramped for space.Would book here again, a clean place to lay your head and freshen up.
Comfortable, clean, good bed, reasonable price, ideal location for visiting the AGO and the theatre district.
The floor was uncarpeted and cold to walk on in the middle of the night when I needed to go to the bathroom!
Location and value were great
Spending 45 minutes driving from Lower Simcoe Street to your destination with York Street being closed was living hell
staff pleasant
lack on on site parking
restaurant/pub food not great
I did like the colour of the lobby
When I first checked in I was not too happy they have me a key to an occupied room, it made me uncomfortable with how often this may happen and if someone might accidentally get the key to my room while I was out, the webiste showed larger bedrooms and when I used the blow dryer it started smoking. I was up quite awhile thru the night because every time the...

We loved the helpful staff, the clean surroundings, the delightful restaurant.
In evening after a very tiresome day of travelling, sitseeing etc., I wanted to soak in a bath but there was no plug in bathtub.
The price, $96 plus tax and the close proximity to ACC.
The room was clean and as I work for a pest control company in the GTA I always check for any signs of problems (i.e. bed bugs). The bed and linens were clean but I did awake the next morning to 10 "suspicious" bites on my arms. I am hopeful I did not transport any home but with the nature of my work, I never put anything on the beds or...

Location was great. Staff friendly. Very clean room, and comfortable.
It was noisy, the rooms were very tiny. View was not the best.
Rooms were clean, location was great; downtown Toronto.
We were given a "free" upgrade to a Queen bed, there was almost nothing but the bed in the room, the bathroom was so small the door couldn't be fully opened. There was no parking with the hotel, had to use city parking. There was no hot water in the morning. Overall the cost of the room was not worth what we received. Will not stay there...

the bed was smaller than i have been in in other hotels. room was oddly small and oddly shaped. the wifi had to be paid for which i have never experienced in any hotel.
The location of the hotel was fantastic and close to everything.
I called for a late checkout that was never recorded and forced to check out early. I called for a 11:00am wake up call and they called at 9:00am. The man at the front desk was rather rude when checking in. I was told in an email that I had received a free upgrade which I never got as well.
We very much enjoyed our stay. The location near the ACC was superb for taking in a Leafs game. Décor was modern and the room was cute, cozy and clean. Will be back for sure!
My room was very clean, and the location was perfect.
Front desk wasn't very friendly when I called down with a question.
Excellent location and close to train station and Roy Thomson Hall where we went to show.
Cannot think of anything
It was basic. We were only there one night.
There was no free WiFi in the rooms and you had to pay for Internet.
Your Pub Staff were very accomodating and friendly. They went out of their way to make my son amd me feel welcome
The room was small but it was just two of us. We were only there for one night and we got a good laugh out of it. The room was great.
Very close to Roger center, price was good. Also close to everthing in the hart of Toronto.
Friendly staff, good location and a lot of facilities around the hotel. Comfortable bed.
Staff appearance, the space of the room was too small, towels weren't very clean.
Location is excellent for the theatre district.
Room was small but very efficient and comfortable,
The day before my visit I phoned to inquire about parking.
The staff did not tell me about the road construction that made it nearly impossible to get to the hotel because of the one way street. A warning and a recommendation would have saved me 45 min of going around in circles during rush hour.
I did not rate the "facilities" as I found the basics, room, lobby etc to be excellent value for the price. The cafe for breakfast was also clean, cheerful and the staff were very good. The breakfast buffet was cold. Cold scrambled eggs, cold bacon and cold sausage......not a good start for the day.
Loved the location and décor - very modern. Only complaint was you could hear everything from the room next door and in hallways. Gap around the door, so light & noise easily get into your room. Every time someone went to get into their room, we thought they were trying to get into hours (no sound proofing at all). Next morning as the staff were cleaning the bathroom in the next room, sounded... more
Desk clerk was indifferent, as if he couldn't be bothered by normal customer relations. The room was small and cramped, awkwardly designed.
Small rooms, but very clean! Comfortable beds. Fabulous location for tourists walking to events or shopping. Food in Cafe and Pub reasonable and very good! They held our luggage in a locked room after we checked out so that we could explore more of Toronto before our Porter flight. Close to the Porter Airlines shuttle.
Staff friedly and helpfull, excellent location for CN Tower and shops, also close to Railway Station.
Well located budget hotel close to Union Station with modernised clean and tidy rooms.
Twin room was very small, no view from window. Not the quietest of hotels, both internal and external noise. Beds could have been comfier.
It's central. Unfortunately, the area is being dug up for a new subway line.
Pub in the basement was pleasant for a glass of wine - especially since there is no minibar in the room.
Coffee maker in lobby should be free or able to be charged to the room.
Coffee maker was unplugged so I thought it wasn't working.
GOod location, right near metro convention centre, cheaper than royal york.
walls are paper thin, and doors. People across the room talking loud, not yelling, but I could hear every word. Complained twice to front desk. Had to take a sleeping pill to fall asleep because of the voices. Not sure if I would stay again. Rooms very tiny.
The pub in the basement was nice we were abil to relax and grab a bite to eat with out having to leave the hotel and walk around late at night.
The coffeemaker was broken, I mentioned it the first day but it was still broken 4 days later when we left, the bath tube had no drain plug, the wife was looking forward to a bath but that didn't happen.
So close to everything we wanted to do in Toronto. Planning to come back
in December. Any better deals?
Nothing Room small but fit our needs for a short overnight stay
Very good stay overnight for a one day business trip. Great price for a downtown hotel with the smallest vanity I have ever seen - Ok for me but not for a family!
A little noisy outside and the city light was not completely cut out by the wooden slat blinds.
The rooms were too small. Not a very good value for the price. Will not stay here again.
-King room was actually bit small, but cosy. Location in the middle of everything was perfect.
This hotel is very European: by that I mean it has low water pressure and the staff is surly.
Serviceable but not great.
This hotel is ideally located for everything downtown. Union Station just across the street and the Metro Toronto Convention Centre a block away. My friend and I had a room with two beds. We were a bit surprised the beds were actually twin beds instead of the usual double beds. The room was super small but for the price, it was fine.
Location
The fact that I paid an additional fee for wifi which did not

Arrived late & checked out early; check-in easy; check-out easy.
Went to room on high floor in tower. Neither of two keys worked!

I am a big believer of quality of service especially when it comes to a hotel. A few months ago my wife and needed to book a room to accommodate the MMVA awards. Staff very helpfulHotel rooms small but clean and adequate. For such a good position prices very reasonable.Shame about roadworks outside but hats not hotel fault.
Friendly staff, clean rooms and close to Union Station. Try to get a room far away from the elevators as the walls are thin. Other than that, everything was perfect.
I was surprised by how small the rooms were, but I wasn't in the room much, so they sufficed and the bed - though small - was comfortable. The staff was friendly. There was an issue with condensation on the toilets and a small puddle of water collecting on the floor. Otherwise the room was clean.
Right in the heart of the city so within walking distance of restaurants, shops etc. Also close to Union Station and subway links.

A really nice hotel representing excellent value for money. It's in a great location too. Friendly and helpful staff, who were very accomodating. I would definitely recommend it to others.
The location of this hotel was perfect for my trip. It is within easy walking distance of the theatres, Air Canada Centre, the subway system, and the underground PATH. The room, although small, was very clean and well maintained. The desk staff were very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable when I was asking directions to some specific restaurants and local attractions.
Very good value for money. Very nicely maintained. Good service staff. No disappointments!
The room was incredibly small but the price was good and the location is excelent
Bottomline: You need earplugs to stay in this hotel but unfortunately this is not part of the complimentary services.

The Strathcona Hotel is an excellent hotel located in downtown Toronto. The staff was extreamly helpful. The hotel was part of an agreement with the MTCC Convention Center, so we had an affordable rate along with free wi-fi for the weekend, and a extra cot for free.
My husband and I booked the Strathcona for a couple nights in the middle of the week this past November. We were on the eleventh floor. We didn't have a view but we didn't come to Toronto to stay in the hotel, so we didn't mind at all. It was close to everything which was wonderful. I appreciated that the hotel was located very close to the train station and the room was clean, but the comfort level was average at best. The Internet was very slow in the evenings and other guests were noisy during the night. That said, the staff were all quite kind and helpful. I'd return because of convenience.

“The Strathcona is ideally suited for the short-stay Toronoto traveler.
