My father and I came here for lunch one Monday afternoon in November. I had never been and was surprised to see how nice it was inside, because I was expecting just a typical Irish pub. I'm surprised that a place with food as good as this place does has absolutely zero Yelp reviews. (Thus, let's make it one.)

My wife and I stopped in for a late lunch about two and a half weeks ago, and the place was nearly empty. The lunch crowd had come and gone, so by 2:00 or so, it appeared that there were more staff than there were customers.

Awesome Service and Food

Had a great time with my family, this place has a great feel with old Prince Edward Island photos which made for great atmosphere. The food is always good and prices are the best we have seen. I highly recommend this place.

Fantastic

Anytime I've been to the St. James Gate Pub I've been provided with first rate service and food. All the staff are extremely friendly and courteous. The food is tremendous and you're never kept waiting. If you're looking for a bite to eat or just a drink - head to the gate!

Best Pub Around

Of all the choices for Pubs around Charlottetown, St James Gate is by far my favorite. I eat here at least once a week and Im never disappointed. Had high expectations of tasty food that sounded good when reading the menu. Nope. Food was mediorce at best and there was a long wait. Staff were very nice though.

Not bad

After reading most of the very positive reviews, I had high expectations of this place. It wasn't bad but it wasn't the greatest meal I've had either. Service was very friendly albeit a tad slow. My food was decent. Prices seemed a tad expensive for what you get but they weren't that unreasonable. Overall, if I lived here, I would probably go back. But since I'm on vacation, I'll try somewhere... more

Impressed

As a vacationer for the first time to Charlottetown, I was really impressed with the quality of food, atmosphere and service at St. James. I tried a few other pubs and restaurants during my stay downtown, but none of those restaurants came back with anywhere near my experiences here. Will definitely dine there next vacation!

Great meal and service

I recommend this place. Atmosphere and decor was very good. Waitress was friendly, and food was excellent.

My wife and I had an excellent meal and a very nice time here one
evening in July. It is rather dark inside, but once your eyes become
accustom to the low light level, you become aware of how nice the
place is. The atmosphere sets the stage for a wonderful time.
