Didn't know what to expect but I was blown away with the servers and their attention to detail and allowing change within their menu. They were busy and the chef went above and beyond. Go visit.
I really like the atmosphere and feel of Sideways. It is a nice gathering place after work. My only negative comment is that I do not like the chairs...at all. Not comfortable for anyone with any type of back issue or disability. Too high and too uncomfortable. Good for short visits after work..
I was in the area on business with several colleagues and we met here in the evening to have a few drinks and get some dinner. It was easy to find with on-street parking and a few parking lots near by. We sat at the bar and the service was excellent. There were many beers on tap and they also... more
arrived to watch the puck drop at 4pm on Sunday. My first visit and I was impressed with the décor, overall appearance and the aromas from the kitchen at the back. We ordered the Asian Nachos !! wow, I'm going back just for that appy. beer was cold, waitress was hot (lol), a friend of my girlfriend. TV's are well... more
This waterfront restaurant has a menu full of yumminess! Nachos with wontons, poutine of all sorts, flatbread pizza, burgers, pasta & more! You have to try the Sideways salad...SO GOOD! The atmosphere is cozy & welcoming. We have had lunch, dinner & drinks here & it's always a good time with great food & service.

We went with another couple to celebrate my birthday. Service was, great, food was delicious.
Little expensive for a,burger and fries. My friend had poutine and said it was the best she had.
My wife and I dropped in to try this place out on Saturday for the first time -Wow we were very impressed. Great atmosphere, clean, very friendly service and outstanding food. Prices were very reasonable. I would definitely recommend trying this place and will definitely be back.
March 26 was our 3rd time going to Sideways. The first 2 times that we have gone there the food was wonderful and the service was awesome. On Wednesday the service was terrible! When we walked in the door we were shouted at across the bar by the bartender asking us if a table at the front would work best... more
The food at this VERY poorly lit pub (good luck reading the menu!), is actually not too bad. Hit and miss. They charge entre prices for appies, which is standard these days. The entrees are almost always far too salty. The prices here do not line up with the quality of the food being presented. Service is also unpredictable. You... more
The menu is limited which is good. You are not there for hours trying to figure it out but not food allergen friendly. However, When I have been there the chef personally comes out and chats with me and gives me suggestions which I in turn leave up to her. So for that, I thank you and keep doing what... more
Love the decor.... cozy, old school brick wall look... that hip downtown old building feel. Wish there was more places like this!
Whoever invented the gourmet poutine is a genius! Its a meal all in itself. The burger is also great. Don't let the kinda high price tag scare you, you will get your money's worth on these two ordinary...

We enjoyed our pre-theatre dinner. The staff were very attentive, fun and helpful. We enjoyed the food, especially the squash soup....probably the best we've ever eaten! Our only criticism would be about the noise. The brick walls and several large TV's contribute to the loudness....but it is a lounge and we should not expect quiet dining. We will definitely return.
Hi I was there tonight and would love to recommend this bar and grill. The food was fast and tasted great, loved the atmosphere and all around great service. Our server was phenomenal and I think her name was Rachael! Thanks again
Went for my birthday lunch. I would most likely return again:
The bad:
- No reservations. The group and I had 6 people, so when I called they recommended us to come early to make sure to have seating. It seems to be the only place I've been to that doesn't do reservations
- People say different things. The lady...

I was very disappointed that this place turned out to be so....well disheartening, unsatisfying, inadequate. But then again I am not surprised as after our first visit when it opened we tried it several times but have now decided to not return. The service was terrible....when we said something we felt we were reprimanded. This happened to us at his... more
Chairs - super uncomfortable. Waitress had a terrible memory and on top of that was not attentive.
Food - breaded fish soggy on one end and burnt on the other.
Thank goodness for the Caesar salad which was actually edible. Won't return.
Food is always delicious and menu has unique choices. Best poutine around. Salads are delicious as well. Fun sports bar that is generally always busy!
Our first time to Sideways was a wonderful experience in every way. 2nd time was not. Only table was for 6 people - we were told we could sit there if we wanted, but they would move us as soon as a smaller table was available in case a larger group would come in and need it. We felt we... more
The girls spend more time chatting near the kitchen or texting on their phones with no more then five people in the bar it was very difficult to get a drink waste of time unless your one of the bartenders friends if I had there cell number I could have text the barmaid to get my drink chemical imbalance is... more
The food was good but the only glitch was with my husbands starter salad wasn't served. Next thing we knew our entrees arrived & when he mentioned the salad to the other server ( we had 3 ) her comment was Oh is that yours sitting back there. Then it was served. Too late. Our first server did take it... more
Sideways is a pub style restaurant, in downtown Sarnia. Great selection of draft beers, and well made pub style food.
I visited this restaurant at 9pm on a Saturday night. It wasn't overly busy. There is no drink menu or wine list here. We ordered drinks, which the server got wrong, then glared at us when we tried to have it fixed. We could not get the server's attention, as she was sitting at a table with all the other... more
Business lunch. Supplier suggested Sideways as somewhere to try. Glad we did. Where were these palces when I was growing up in this town? Funky decor - great draft selection (but hey working lunch so cranberry soda has to do), including Shock Top which I didn't expect to see in Ontario. We both had the lunch special - a wrap... more
Had a pulled pork sandwich. Could have been anything in there. Slop.
The beer was good.
Probably be closed soon just as the other medicore restaurants they lived here.
With the closing of local bars and the new age restriction on two amegios, Sideways is easily my new favorite spot to go. I have been going around once every two weeks since I first found out about it in early August with various friends. It could be a little bigger inside but the longest I have had to wait... more
We used to go every Friday for lunch, service steadily got worse and worse. At first it would only take 30 minutes to get in and out. Eventually it got to the point where it took at least 15 minutes to take our order and then an additional 45 minutes before the food would show up. When we complained that... more
Sideways classic grill a cosy little sports bar on front street in Sarnia. Nice to see this area being revitalized. Went for sun lunch. Beat the football crowd. Would be good place to watch sports as has views of large screen from every seat. Bar stool seating . Great food. The squash soup was great as the special. Food quality... more
My husband and I went in for a quick bite and the special was Meat Loaf Sandwich. Not something I would normally buy but it was the tastiest meal I have had at a restaurant in a long time and we eat out a lot. Their salads are so good too.
I have gone to Sideways many, many times, both with friends and with colleagues. The food is fantastic. I have yet to be let down by anything I've tried. Especially the wings. So many different and great flavors! My favorite restaurant in the downtown area for sure! I highly recommend it!
Excellent restaurant! Great food, fair prices, nice decor. Best pulled pork sandwiches in town. Staff very friendly also. Our favorite restaurant to eat at in Sarnia.
Aftering taking a walk along the river stop in at Sideways for a great meal. It is not a huge restaurant but small and cozy. Always have had a great meal and the prices are right!
