We went to this restaurant on the advice of one of the locals. We were staying in Owen Sound for one night after coming from Tobermory. I think we made a good choice. We were able to be seated right away even though it was a busy Friday night. Service was friendly and their wine prices were reasonable.

Grilled chicken on chopped salad a great, light lunch

This is one of my favourite quick, light lunches in Owen Sound. A great salad which includes avocado and corn niblets with the greens, etc. This salad, and I think all of their salads are served with two warm pieces of garlic toast which are to die for.
Give it a try, I bet you like it.

Nice place ... good environment and decent food

July 01, 2014Excellent tasty food. Very busy place.... however you get what you pay for.... and MAN...... do you PAY there.... 19$ for fish and chips and 15$ for a hot hamburg with fries, no veg. Good service and good food though... so IF you don't mind paying through the nose..... for nasty food ... go to Shorty's while in Owen Sound.

Great place to meet old friends

While visiting my sister in Owen Sound, I decided to get together with some (old) school friends. Shorty's was their unaminous choice, and I now undertsand why.
Even though the place was relatively busy for a Wednesday evening; there was no problem with us being able to chat.

Great food and friendly welcome

Amazing Steak! Expensive but worth it

Second time eating at Shorty's and I haven't been disappointed yet. The Wait staff is excellent. Very good personalities and certainly exceptionally friendly.
The steak was amazing although a tad expensive ($32.00 I believe) for a place like owen sound I would have expected closer to $26-28
nevertheless, for a once a year stop, seems like a great place!

Visited based on TA reviews. Friendly personnel, clean throughout.
We shared the crab cakes, steamed mussels and escargot. Warm, fresh bread was served as well.
The mussels and escargot were top notch..would return for those 2 dishes. The crab cakes, however, contained way too much filler and were over baked. Bummer, I love crab cakes but these didn't stack up....

Not from the area but found this spot for dinner. They boast a good beer selection but found the choices average.

Shortys has been a local favorite for many years and the restaurant is family owned.
Try the Greek specialities. Fabulous! Other favorites are the nachos and pulled pork and fried mushrooms.
There is room in the back that you can book for private parties. Fits about 15 people.

At first I thought the wait staff was a bit standoff'ish but the bartender that served me was quite good.
I had a spinach salad that I thought was quite good and some wings that were also good. With tuesday being wing night it made them a really good deal.
