Inside some of the display cases lining the restaurant floor, you’ll find some of the artifacts of yesteryear; Polaroids of some of the local celebrities that frequented the place back in the day. Personally, I still have some autographs direct from the hands of the likes of Wayne Gretzky, Mark Messier and Kevin Lowe from the early- Eighties that I collected from them when they were spotted... more

We enjoy the cooking at the table. My favorite is the steak and shrimp. The price includes miso soup, salad, main course and ice cream. The service is great and the cooks are very pleasant and try to make the experience fun. We have been going to shogun for many years.
This had been one of our favourite restaurants some years ago and for no reason we hadn't visited for at least 15 years maybe because it had gotten a little shabby. Anyway we visited again last week, and the food was excellent, it is still a little shabby but clean. The beef sashimi was delicious as was our other choices.... more
Had a group of 8 people and sat at regular meal table (not teppanyaki). We had leaking teapots, a rude server, and our entrees came out over 50minutes apart from each other!!! Taste of the food was alright, but I would say is expensive for the amount and an average Japanese meal. It was freezing in there too. We were... more
Shogun's is a secret in Edmonton - it is much more traditional and personal then other Japanese restaurants located in Edmonton. The teppanyaki delicious! If you go with their special, you also get a salad and ice cream for dessert. The new york strip steak and shrimp special is very yummy! We also had the tempura which was fresh with... more
Went out for anniversary dinner with kid and since all other places in the city was full, decided to revisit this restaurant. Was seated right away even though its Friday night and not busy there. Ordered the green tea, beef sashimi, yam tempura and the special assorted sushi platter. Everything tasted fresh and presented wonderful. The beef sashimi was just... more
We opted for the teppanyaki choice at Shogun with a group of five later in the evening when the restaurant was beginning to clear. Even though there were several grill tables open, they seated us at table adjacent to a very loud table, that had obviously been drinking quite a bit, making the prospect of our table being able to... more
Shogun has been around the Edmonton scene for quite some time. Every visit to this restaurant has been great. This particular review is based on my last visit with colleagues. We opted to sit at the grill.
We all ordered off the Teppan menu and were not disappointed. Dishes ranged from Chicken teppan, Shrimp teppan and Steak teppan. Overall, the...

This restaurant is one of Edmonton's new best secrets. Redone inside, fantastic management and of course the food is wonderful. Pricing is average compared to other Japanese restaurants. I would highly recommend this place to anyone.
Not up to the standards it was many many years ago. The food is bland tasting. Don't watse your time.
Overated would not go back
Inviting environment with friendly service. Best beef sashimi in town! This restaurant was more on the expensive side.
Nothing like Japanese Village. Bad imitation.
Excellent sushi - if you're into sushi.
The only time I've been, the place was absolute silent, and yet we had terribly slow and curt service. Everyone who ate raw stuff got sick, and generally it didn't have anything to make me give them a second chance.
This is one of the best Japanese restaurants in town.
They have a special Japanese style area upstairs for parties.
It is a little expensive... but excellent service and food.
The downstairs restaurant has a nice atmosphere and has excellent
food.
