I went to a show here once and I had a great time. It was funny, entertaining and I had a blast. If you are looking for something fun and out of the ordinary to do, check this place out!
The "stars of tomorrow" provide "lots of laughter" at this "fab comedy club" in the Entertainment District, an outpost of the renowned Chicago-based improv company; though a few think it "needs a bigger space" than the simple studio with "cosy" cabaret-style seating, "helpful" service, "hilarious" talent and "reasonable" prices add up to an "all-around great time."
The troupe of six actors were very entertaining. There was a definite slant toward Toronto activities/personalities/traditions, so for those of us not from Toronto, we didn't get all of it. We laughed out loud a few times, but I wouldn't describe this as hilarious. it was clever, cute, and very much like watching an episode of Saturday night live, except... more
My husband and I went to the sixteen scandals show and had an absolute blast. The performance was amazing, they did such as great job. We had a good view even from the back and also received great table service. Can't wait to go back!
Seen Second City before. This was the best. They had a lot of fun with the Mayor. Lasted longer than expected. Got my moneys worth
It's a must to go for some ribs and enjoy a show. Great for a date and the quality of the food as well as the show is excellent. Always a good option, when looking for things to do do on a Thursday/Wednesday/Friday night!
Enjoyed the first show on a Friday night while visiting Toronto and SST did not disappoint. Excellent cast, skits, improv. They struck a nice chord (funny and cutting edge without going over and being offensive). Made for a great evening with friends. Highly recommend (and don't forget to tip the wait staff--- they're marvelous too!)
If you are in Toronto and looking for some good laughs, I HIGHLY recommend seeing a show at Second City. They are always running comedy shows and it's a great way to get out and enjoy some of the local talent.
The show was much more than I expected. I wasnt expecting it to be as funny as it was.
I can say that there was nothing that I can say was negative.
Location was great. Close to all kinds of restaurants, and the highway.
I look forward to seeing another show soon.
I would recommend this show to anyone that...

We were disappointed with this show. We are from Australia and possibily did not get the humour, maybe the humour relates to either Toronto or Canada so we did not get it. Maybe ok for locals but would not recommend for foreigners.
So it was a very funny revue..even though as an American I didn't get all the local references that were prevalent mainly in the first couple scenes. The actors/comedians are all very talented and the writing very creative. Lots of laughs all through the night.
It was pricey..$189 for 3 for seats..but, I'm not sure you would need to spend...

Maybe it's the long winters, or the fact that they're treated on par with people from drug-smuggling nations when it comes to immigrating south, but Canadians have a wicked sense of irony ... when they're funny. When they're dead earnest, they're also funny ... in part because you feel like you're on the set of Fargo (weather and all). All... more
As a visitor to Canada I was very pleased with this sophisticated and enjoyable event. The humour was good and though the event a little crowded it was nice to enjoy a drink at our table during the show. I would strongly recommend this to visitors to Toronto
First time at SecondCity and we had fun. The performers were very talented and we laughed a lot. Beware of language as expected a bit risqué, but nothing that we didn't expect going in. A great idea to go out for dinner and then the early show for a nice evening out. They announced free improv was at 11:45 for... more
The performers are amazing, the venue is old and cramped, so get there early to secure a decent seat. Sit back and enjoy a drink and a laugh at the expense of Torontonians!!
Except for the fact that your seating is sandwiched in like sardines, this is a fun evening out. The show, was Sixteen Scandals and the performers were super talented. At the end, they did 15 minutes of improv. Light bar menu and drinks, complete this fun evening. Second City is a few minute walk from the Residence Inn and other... more
I had high expectations coming to this comedy club, given the long history of greats and was very disappointed. I thought I'd be laughing myself to death and I wasn't. The show was "sixteen scandals". The material just didn't strike me as funny, another in my party thought it was very funny. Material was definitely for mature audiences. Using foul... more
This is a wonderful way to spend your evening in Toronto. There are set-pieces as well as stand-up. This was where some of today's best international comics started their careers.
A group of us went to the Sixteen Scandals show for a birthday evening and the comedy was hilarious! I couldn't stop laughing! I think they serve food but coming from dinner we just ordered drinks. I definitely recommend this show to anyone.
Fun thing to do for a change. Very talented performers and they really try to make sure you enjoy the evening.
My husband and I went to see "Sixteen Scandals" and it was pretty darn funny! I have been before as well and every time I go I always have a great time. If you need a night out to release some stress and just laugh your pants off - you gotta go here! Besides, this is where all the "greats"... more
Awesome night out with my wife and an other couple. Went to Wayne Gretzkys before hand to grab some drinks and supper. Then was able to simply walk thru the restaurant to second city. The show was great and the service was good. Can't wait to go back.
Great intimate show. Funny, but some jokes were local so would be funnier to the locals. Seating was tight even on a Tuesday, but that also made for a great ambiance.
Hilarious, definitely a great time!!
Four of us had many laughs and cant wait to return.
We reserved seats ahead of time, which I definitely suggest you do for your visit.
A fantastic night of comedy sketches, totally not what I was expecting, nevertheless brilliant. Would suggest omitting out the 'scared pilot sketch', as feel it was inappropriate with the current missing Maylasia flight and the sketch regarding 'being black', made the audience go very quiet and was uncomfortable watching..
The improvised bit at the end wasnt funny and confirmed that...

Being at the Second City was awesome and the show was terrific. The comedy troop was excellent and, while we paid a little extra for reserved seating to get a great view, there's really no view that's bad. Plus, the wait staff was super friendly and made terrific drink recommendations. An absolute must for comedy fans!
I was so excited to check out Second City - such an iconic venue, so many amazing comedic stars have cut their teeth on the stage.
We checked out their new show - Sixteen Scandals and left a little underwhelmed.
We did not get assigned seats, so would advise to get there early and have a drink before the show...

The show is always very good. Quite entertaining and always an excellent show. I always look forward to returning to 2nd city.
If I may suggest, arrive early. The seating is the 1 negative. It's quick cramped, and if you end up in the upper seating the view can be poor. Arriving early will maximize your chances of being seated...

During our trip to Toronto we went to a few shows including Second City. Of all I think it was the best value for the money. Thankfully we are originally from Toronto and got the local references.
What talent!
Our teen children love it too.
Only wish it wasn't so rushed. Would be nice to socialize more with friends before...

Was here recently and their form of comedy has been around for years. Last time I was to this place was in 1980 at a different place plus John Candy was on the stage. No wonder SNL has a good recruiting ground for their comedy type people as Second City is certainly the proving ground to learn this trade. Shows... more
We caught a show on a Friday evening and it was great. Don't be surprised to share a table with your fellow audience but that adds to the ambience. Table service throughout from very friendly waiters. Would recommend for an alternative night out.
My husband and I had a fantastic time at the "Best of" show they put on on a Saturday evening. We read up online and purchased tickets about a month before the show and made sure we arrived about 45 minutes before the show start time to make sure we got decent seats.
The show was outstanding! We were both...

This comedy group is irreverant and super fun! The talent was impressive even when we were lacking the relevant background to Toronto. The service was efficient and friendly, the cast creative and talented.
This place does different sketch comedy shows based on so how funny it is varies can depend on the material being presented. I have been here on a few occasions however and always thoroughly enjoyed myself. I also like the atmosphere here a lot more than up at that "Yuk Yuks" comedy club.
I've been there twice now, once for The Memeing of Life and the second for We can be Heroes. Super funny, great cast. Love the student discount.
I have been to second city in Toronto three times and I hope to go again. I literally was laughing out loud the whole time. We got great seats at the front every time. There chairs are a little close together but it isn't a huge issue. You can order drinks from your seat which is awesome. If you like... more
We went to see "We Can Be Heroes" in October of last year, but I felt compelled to write this review even four months later. The show was hilarious! The cast was very engaging and got the audience involved. It was a fair mix of songs/dialogues and despite being a cast of only five, I lost count of the number... more
Very entertaining, especially the improv. Boy are these folks quick ! Enjoyed lovely dinner next door at Gretzky's before the show.
My boyfriend brought me here on a date. We saw "Slap Shot". Show was okay, not very funny. I'd read several reviews and was expecting a great time with lots of laughs. I was bored and distracted most of the time.
The accessibility here is awful: that is to say, there is none. We called in advance, and were told...

First time going to a comedy club before. Didn't know what to expect. We went for the "We Can Be Heroes" show. I haven't laughed so hard in my life. It was hilarious. The actors/actresses were awesome. At the end of the later show they have an improv where they might ask a few audience members some questions and create... more
Some really brave people took the stage and risked just about everything they had to try and make us laugh. It worked, and I'll be back when I can.
Went to Second City with my husband on our anniversary trip. The show was good, but the way they squeeze you in made it a little uncomfortable. We had no room to move and felt like we were intruding on the other couple if we used the table. Not sure how you can fix this, but it did affect my... more
Have to admit, we went to SC for a special occasion, THINKING it was a regular comedy club. It was only after the sketches, when I realized no solo comedians would be appearing that night. I was later told Yuk Yuk's was the kind of place we were looking for.
Unfortunately, I just didn't find the sketch comedy very funny....

An awesome show. Though you're sat at a table with strangers if you book as a couple, the show was still great with some really good talent. Enjoyed every minute of it!
We went to our first Second City show this past weekend, and it definitely won't be our last. We had an awesome time! The cast are a very talented group of people that had us laughing from start to finish. We paid a bit extra and had the reserved premium seats - well worth the extra cost. The servers are... more
So glad we went to Second City while visiting Toronto! No wonder NYC comes calling for these comedians. They were very entertaining and the show was loads of fun.
Funny, smart, sharp, edgy, current. Such talented comedians. A pleasure. Decent drinks, friendly service.
I'd never been to a sketch comedy show before, so I didn't know what to expect. Four of us went and we were laughing from beginning to end! The comedians were all great and having a lot of fun throughout the show. It's an affordable night out too!
Maybe it's because I'm a tourist and not a native canadian but tonight's show just wasn't funny. A number of people left half way through...whilst the improv at the end was OK the main show/sketches raised little by way of laughter....maybe Yuk Yuks would have been a better bet?
This was our highlight of our trip to Toronto. Very funny, reasonably priced. You get a long show for your money, and even some improv after. Highly recommend going to Second City!
Great show, very funny!!! Excellent value. Highly recommend for a fun night out. The improv is a very fun aspect of the show. The comedians make an effort to involve the audience, but not in an offensive and insulting way. Go and check it out!
My husband and I went to Second City while in Toronto and loved it! We saw the "We Can Be Heroes" show and thought it was both a fun and hilarious. Our server was also very nice and attentive, even though he was very busy. I'd definitely go back again!
As a frequent visitor to Toronto, I always overlooked going to Second City because it seemed a little too touristy. However, when I attended a Saturday night show, I had a blast! The comedians brought tears to my eyes, they were so funny! After the show was over, we stayed longer for an improv set that was equally impressive. Aside from the steep prices that you would incur at any comedy club,... more
shows here are great. Incredible improv and sketch comedy. 0% down, 100% screwed was one of the funniest shows i've ever seen. It hurt to laugh after a while ahaha

The Second City Toronto is Ontario's outpost of the venerable Second City comedy troupe.
Second City Toronto has given rise to some of the best comedians of the past generation -- need a list? Ever heard of Mike Myers? John Candy? Martin Short? Dan Aykroyd? Gilda Radner? Eugene Levy? Rick Moranis? Ryan Stiles? Colin Mochrie? Or the television show SCTV for that matter? You have this club to...

Trying to come up with something "Toronto" to do, we chose to see a show at Second City, the home of alumni such as Gilda Radner, Martin Short, John Candy, Dan Ackroyd, and Mike Myers. Although known for its improv comedy, the show we saw was more sketch comedy, like that seen on Saturday Night Live. They did inform us that they do an improv show at 12:30 pm, however - and there is no charge... more
What do Dan Aykroyd, John Candy, Mike Myers, and Gilda Radner have in common? Aside from being great comedians, they all got their start at The Second City in the Old Fire Hall. The club has since moved to where the action is, near Blue Jays Way, north of the Rogers Centre, but the impromptu wit and cutting satire are still intact. And don't miss the post-show improvement when audience... more
Before opening on Mercer Street, Second City was at the Old Fire Hall on Lombard Street. It was at the old location that people like Dan Aykroyd, John Candy, Joe Flaherty, Eugene Levy, Andrea Martin, Michael Myers, Catherine O'Hara, Gilda Radner, Martin Short and Dave Thomas jump started their careers. Other Second City alumni’s include Tina Fey, Stephen Colbert, Steve Carrel, Rachel Dratch,... more
