Nestled in along The Esplanade, just around the corner from the Hummingbird Centre, you'll find Scotland Yard, an authentic English Pub complete with all the old-menu favourites and draft beer behind the bar. Enjoy traditional Shepherd's Pie, Stake & Mushroom Pie, or perhaps beer-battered Fish & Chips. Also home of the mighty Yard burger! Definitely well ... more
Calamari was way too chewy. Guinness stew ok but bland. Service was ok but lacked a smile. Lots of places in the area so no need to come back here. Oh well.
It's a place mostly for men to hang out to drink beer, eat wings and nachos and watch a game. There are dart games out there but it's always busy. The wait staff is friendly and enjoy chatting with the guests. I found the nachos petty good. Chicken wings are good too. Veggie options are limited. The location is great.
I went with a group of 16 on Saturday evening and we had a fantastic time. Our waitress, Heather, was phenomenal. She handled our party like a champ. She always got the drink and food orders correct for each person and she kept all the bills straight without issue as everyone was either a couple or individual. She was friendly and took the time to joke around with everyone. Based on the service... more
This bar is joined with the old spaghetti factory, so it feels like it's where the adults go after having dinner with kids. The food here was really good and satisfied the hunger for sure. The burgers were awesome and had great flavour and were super juicy. They have good variety of beers on tap for fair prices. Only comment is service was pretty slow when we went but it was slammed and they... more
Great setting, however the night food is pretty bad, compared to the other bars around here.
I love the patio here and the service is great. I had the California sliders and a house salad. The sliders were pretty good. I would have preferred fresh beef patties as the ones on these sliders were of the processed frozen variety, but the great toppings which include guacamole, made up for this. The salad was pretty standard. I wasn't asked about a dressing choice but it came with balsamic... more
They are suppose to serve Sunday brunch. Blah!!!! Order a frittata that was tasteless and dry. :(. Service was soooo slow, even when there were only a few tables active. If you can't do it right --- don't do it.
Pretty standard pub food with less than standard waitstaff. After waiting for 15 minutes for a drink order, I went directly to bar to order, only to be told to wait for the server. Tough s@!t I guess.
Went back here after having already dined here a few years ago (which was for a late snack and pint). I figured this was a safe bet for my nephew and his gf, who aren't super adventurous when it comes to food. Considering the concert we were waiting to attend, my nephew's gf and I ate light. I say 'light' but lie...as I couldn't resist ordering the Poutine again (fries, gravy and cheese curds).... more
Great little Irish place over by the saint Lawrence market. First off they have all your staple local beers along with some irish obvious ones of course! Good stuff as usual!
The food was very good! The Shepards pie was tasty as can be! Whipped potatoes, savory gravy and beer as well as your staple peas and carrots! Very well done irish dish! As for desert, the peanut butter and jam soliders...

Love this spot, especially in the summer when the patio is rocking. Servers are incredibly friendly and they always have awesome drink specials. The veggies platter is yummy too. Only thing is it's really really dark in there so I tend to go more in the summer so I can be outside :)
Terrific vibe, great place to get filled before a Leaf's or Raptors game, a concert, or just plain ole' good service and pretty good food.
Their sweet potato fries are a step above, fish n' chips only slightly lesser. SUPER service, the waitress had a great sense of humor, a solid sense of timing, and totally on the ball.
It's a tad noisy (it's a pub, yeah?) and the dart boards were constantly...

I love this place! I recently spent the weekend in Toronto with my boyfriend and this became our neighborhood spot. We went there for drinks on night one and made friends right away. Visited on Fri Jan 16 at 7pm. Called to make reservations in advance, and they actually saved us a table. The place was busy but not ram packed. There was no hostess station so we stood around for 5 min at the front. I had to walk up to a server at a computer to get their attention. Ordered a Somersby in a can and a Ceasar which was good. We had the poutine, salad and Sheppard's pie which were... more
Boy oh boy, this place makes THE BEST VEGGIE BURGER I'VE EVER HAD. SO GOOD. And I love spicy food so this burger actually being spicy really does it for me. The service is great, the server we had was very nice and accommodating to our needs. The place does get a bit rowdy, but that is expected since it is a pub, I'm probably just not very used to the noise since I'm not a pub-goer. But,... more
I came here on a Friday night and was acknowledged and seated quickly. My server kept my water glass full as we weren't consuming the reasonably priced beer on this occasion.

Some decent priced food as far as downtown Toronto goes. You can get a highly loaded heart attack on a plate burger for about $15. This place sorely needs more beers on tap. When there's a game on, it's not anyone's first destination, so if you're looking for a pub that might have some space for a sit down with friends over a beer, try here.
This place is a s@!t hole....
Scotland Yard has been around since the late 1970's and yet during the past 35 years not one thing has changed here from the carpet to the bar accoutrements. The place has a seriously run down feel to it and someone needs to send a memo to the ownership that if you intend to stay in business for three decades or longer you need to put some money back into the...

Food is hit and miss. I had a very nice steak pie, but my wife's fish was dry and not pleasant at all. There is a decent selection of draught beers, which make this not a bad place to stop by for a pint and bite to eat.
However, I find it very dark and dingy inside. They try to decorate like a traditional British pub, and to some degree achieve this aim, but despite that, the atmosphere just...

Went with my mom and sister to grab a quick bit before a concert. It took quite some time just to bring us our drinks. Since we ordered 2 apps to share. It is true that this pub is dark and dingy, but the bar staff were very friendly. I am a lover of street food, and I thought its poutine was some of the best I've ever had. It wasn't anything fancy. Just your standard fries, curd and gravy but oh so good.
Was trying to warn them about a creep, they kick ME out for "passing out at the bar" when I literally just got up from my table of friends. I never went up to the bar at any point. They didn't tell ME why I was kicked out, so they left a poor scared girl on her own outside. That seems like the wrong thing for them to do even if they had the right girl (they didn't). Eventually my friends talked... more
Very British menu (as you can tell from the name). Somewhat dark and dingy. It took quite a while to be served, and we were on the point of walking out. Food, when it came, was average and nothing to get excited about. Service was not the usual friendly Canadian kind. Disappointed.
After and awful experience at the Tilted Kilt just a bar or two down, we decided to give Scotland Yard a go. Our large group was seated with a small wait and were greeted with smiling staff, such a change from our awful experience at the Tilted Kilt the night before. The menu is not huge but filled with some... more
A single Star - tired beer selection and incredibly average pub food.
A good pub needs to be about the beer in my opinion - it's that simple! I honestly think Scotland Yard has one of the poorest beer selection in the city. Many options from Molson / Coor's and Rickard's - zzzzzzzzzzzz........ Never thought I would every ask for a Molson Stock Ale and pay for it. The safest beer bets would be...

Pretty decent bar food. Fiancé and I came here just before heading to leafs game. Good prices, decent food for the area. Martini Thursday's (5$) and beer Sundays!!
Had brunch this time on the Sunday. It was delicious. Have been several times before when on holiday and have never been disappointed. The staff were friendly and efficient. Went here for some post dinner drinks after dinner on the Esplanade. The place has a great pub feel with dartboards and lots of TV's. Had my very first sampling of poutine after checking into our hotel across the street. I have nothing to compare it to but fell in love with this Canadian treat. One of favorite places to visit, have a beer and read a book or mingle. When I am town, I always try to stop in if I can. During sporting events, I always work my way to Scotland Yard to enjoy the food and atmosphere.
Gord and I had supper last evening at Scotland Yard. We'd never been there before.
The washroom is shared with the Old Spaghetti Factory, which is right next store and owned by the same owner.
I ordered Fish 'n Chips. I substituted mashed potatoes for French fries (I wasn't in the mood for them). The potatoes were good. The fish was just so-so and could have been hotter (it was just warm). I...

It was a very ordinary pub with very ordinary pub food and variety of beers. Waitresses were not very friendly or helpful. Kind of a "take it or leave it " attitude. We had the one beer and left it!
The atmosphere was what I was looking for - a chill pub to grab food and beer with a buddy - and the service was friendly and quick but the two-star review is because I twice tried to order things off the menu that they were "all out of." Our server also said they were actually out of a lot of things right now.

I'm taking time to express my feelings about my families experience at your restaurant. Went here last night with 4 work colleagues. The bar was busy as it was Saturday night. A couple of tables had reserved markers on them when we arrived at 10 pm. We ended up here every night during our recent 6 night stay. Apart from being just over the road from our hotel (the Novotel), it had a great atmosphere, friendly & helpful staff, and a great selection of Canadian beer with different offers on every day. Great value, and the food was good on the 2 occasions we ate there.
I have always been skeptical having lived in the area and coming here on weekends or post hockey game for drinks. However, having come casually on a weekday with my husband has changed my perspective - excellent true Scottish/British pub food - not your typical "American" type pub. Have never eaten here before but tonight had the Guinness stew and daily curry dish which were both surprisingly... more
I had salad one day and stew the next - both were awesome! Lots of dining venues in the area, so going back twice in one week says a lot about this place!

Great food and choice of draught beers.
What a gem this place is, good value food and good beer.
On a recent visit to Toronto from the UK we received a very warm welcome.
Four of us stopped in about 3:53pm on a Tuesday for beers and some good pub food. We were not disappointed. We basically had the place to ourselves at first -- which was great. Went here tonight since the line at Bier market was too long. Really disappointed.... Ordered hummus and flat bread. Got too much flatbread and very little hummus. Hummus was lacking flavour. My friend ordered wings... Cajun style. Worst wings I have ever tasted. Ambience wasn't fun...... it was old, and felt old. Overall poor experience.
It's your typical Molson-branded watering hole. The place is warm and inviting with that rustic style of a pub in the UK. The food is decent enough (I particularly enjoy the pulled pork sandwich) and the beer is always nice and cold, whether it be draught or bottle.
Service is A+ even when it's crazy busy.
A friend and I had lunch here last week. I had the fish and chips and she had a chicken wrap. They were both really good and filling haha. The patio gets lots of sun so we had a nice time sitting there just enjoying everything going on outside.
Another great bar located on the Esplanade.

I was excited to go here because it looked like a cool place while walking by it but once we went here, we were very disappointed. The service was very poor and incredibly slow. It was a Saturday night but the place was not busy at all so I am not sure why the service was so slow. I had... more

3 of us dropped by after a show for the $5 2 oz. Martiis and there was not even a taste of liquor in it, let alone 2 ozs! Better off to go for the beer specials where you know what you are getting, as this was a definit rip orr.
My husband and I went here after having dinner nearby. It was the night of a snowstorm and we just wanted to go somewhere with a nice, warm atmosphere to have a few drinks.

If you are in the St Lawrence Market area, especially if you're staying in the nearby Novotel, this is a reasonable place for lunch. Would really have loved to have given this pub more but whenever I have tummy issues the day after eating somewhere I cannot justify it.
One thing I don't get is that places like this are trying to pass off British pubs but seriously we don't live in 1960 any more there is no need for old c@!%!y tables and a wooden bar with random stuff on the wall.

Impressed by the food and service. Came in to watch the NFL playoffs and they had great food and drink specials. Our server was good looking and friendly. Will be circling back for the upcoming Champions League matches. Great experience.
Scotland Yard is the bar I go to before any event at the Air Canada Centre or Rogers Centre. Good location and good price (especially considering the location.) Plus, on warm nights, the patio is great for people watching
I was entertaining out of town clients at a high end hotel before going by myself for a quiet burger and beer. The regulars were not happy to see me there and made it very obvious.

I've looked at some of the recent reviews of this place and I don't get it. This is a pub, not a Micehelin Star restaurant! This place is great. Sure some of the food is not fantastic, but the rest is just what you need - and some of it is very, very good. Try the poutine, it's good. If... more
Used to love their amazing $6 breakfast special but this weekend we went back and they've changed it to a smaller breakfast with fewer options for $9. My bacon was old, grey and burnt - completely inedible.
I'll be back for drinks sometime but I guess I'll have to find a new community breakfast place...hopefully they'll play EPL.
Sad.
Decent food, nothing too fancy but good for money. Cosy interior.
Our visit to this admittedly pleasant locale started out reasonably well with a comestible turkey and tomaytoe (as they say here) soup.
The mains, however, were foul: my wife's veggie burger was dry and burnt, whilst the large heap of soi-disant "Fresh Cut Yukon Gold Fries" that accompanied my battered halibut was terribly overcooked and brown to the taste.
