This hotel on the west end of downtown is one of Calgary's best deals. The Sandman is conveniently located on the free rapid-transit mall, just west of the main downtown core. The standard rooms are a good size, but the real winners are the very large corner units, which feature small kitchens and great views. The Sandman is a popular place with corporate clients, due to its central location... more
We had 3 nights at the hotel, and was pleasantly surprised. The room was nice and clean, we got a corner room so good views from 2 sides. Goos choice of TV channels when we was in at night and the morning. Overall a great place to stay, especially at less that $90 CAD a night!
On our trip to Calgary, we stayed at the Sandman hotel downtown. It was great! Within walking distance of almost everywhere we wanted to go, and when it wasn't, the front desk staff called a cab for us! They even brought up a cot (because there ended up being 5 of us instead of the original 2 staying over) at no cost!
The pic was taken while we were wating for an elevator - the celing was...

This hotel had a great location that was in walking distance to almost all major attractions. I walked to the center of downtown within a few minutes to all of the local bars so it was a great place to stay at. Since I was mostly looking around the downtown to the NW area of town walking was fine. Also it is directly on the light rail line so you can get anywhere quickly.

The hotel is on the edge of downtown - easy to navigate but quite peaceful. The free train was a nice surprice! The hotel has seen its best days, but it was ok for one night.
Very good location for the money. For Business travlers who absolutely need to have good Internet connection, Sandman is below par. To use one's own laptop, one needs to get a Internet Box. When I asked for one, it was all checked out until the next day and then the box was faulty, but there were no more to be exchnged with. I was told to use the Business Center. It had 2 PCs and one... more
For the money we paid the hotel was nearly acceptable. Room service forget twice to provide new coffee and clean cups, also the bathroom was VERY small and without ANY ventilation - unacceptable in my opinion. The location in downtown is fine but quite noisy because of the city train stations on the street in front of the hotel. The rooms are very old fashioned, the beds in the room we had are... more
The downtown Sandman Inn Calgary was super. The location can't be beat - we were in the middle of everything and could easily walk or take the train to everything we wanted to do in the downtown area. The rooms were comfortable, clean & large enough to spread out. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others.
We were mostly pleased with our stay at the Sandmans Inn in Calgary, The room was a nice size, clean with everything that we needed, anything that went wrong was quickly repaired or put right and having asked for a quiet room we were given one on the 19th floor at the side of the hotel, so we didnt hear the local trams which ran along the frontside of the hotel. The hotel couldnt have been more... more
Excellent services for the business traveller. Easy access through out downtown Calgary with the light rail service so close.
I chose Sandman City Centre for location and price and I read lots of reviews beforehand. Hotels in Calgary are expensive compared to other places (like Vancouver) and perhaps my one disappointment was that breakfast wasn't included. The girls on the front desk were very friendly. Room comfortable and clean. Free internet and Business Centre for printing boarding pass etc. Calgary is an... more
Yes however great the location and facilities were, our room lacked maintenance. The microwave didn't work, there was a great deal of noise from the light rail, the air conditioner was inefficient, the shower leaked and the hot tub was so hot you couldn't get in it. It was very good value, had a good view, good size room and the king bed was very comfy. A great location with good food outlets... more
Yes Convenient location, reasonable price Yes Yes, have stayed there before.
Highly recommended. Easy to get to. Loved the bar and restaurant we were able to have a drink once we arrived. It was slightly expensive compared to the other hotels for the trip but for a city was good value for money. It was quite far out of town but only took about 20 mins to walk to the calgary tower and we could have jumped on the main free tram line. Very pleased with our stay.
This hotel is in the heart of Calgary. Love Moxies as restaurant on the premises. Room not up to standard. Asked for a non-smoking room and there was a strong smell of smoke in the room throughout my stay. The room is comfortable, bed is great. The bathroom was not impressive - the basin was cracked, the shower head was loose in the wall and poor stream. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
First room heating didn't work - not good on -22C nights. Finally found another room with working heater, toilet flush made noise - fixed that in myself. Rest was ok.
Would recommend as a comfortable hotel located in the middle of downtown Calgary. Adjacent light rail transit was also very useful.
It's an OK place. Disappointed w/ slow elevators, hot/cold shower water difficult to regulate, narrow door to enter with 2 bags in tow, TV channel availability poor. Value was acceptable as the bed was decent, the room was clean but small.
We used this hotel as a stopover between arriving in Calagary and hiring our motorhome 3 days later. It is a convenient hotel with comfortable rooms, excellent location if you are on foot as right next to tram stop but really quite a walkable distance to centre of town anyway ( about 6 blocks if i recall . It is not a 5 star and doesn't pretend to be so if that's what your after go elsewhere.... more
We liked that we could chose to have our breakfast in our room or in the resturant.
The hotel is sitiuated in a rather gloomy part of town.Menu prices were expensive. They would not make my bed if i was inside the room,i had to leave.Overall did not enjoy my saty and also the lobby needs updating and refurbishing.Look elsewhere.
