Rude. Family unfriendly. Do not go. Basically kicked us out because we had kids with us.
Great pub! Excellent ambiance and wonderful service. The bartender did a great job recommending local Canadian beers.
I really liked this place! It's a little dated, but has great beer on tap, 50 types of scotch, and the food was spectacular. It's in old Quebec. We had the rib pizza and delicious! We also had the cheese board. I had the single malt scotch from Canada. Def worth the stop!
Total tourist trap. Went there with my wife and son for drinks which were crazy over-priced (and we live in a resort town where we are accustomed to over-paying for drinks - this is on a completely different scale). Anyway, we are there for a good time so we don't say a word, suck it up and order, but the waitress is extremely rude. She gives us two drink menus even though there are three of us... plus
We went there while vacationing in Old Quebec. The night we went to this bar, it was full, but after a quick wait we were seated. The hostess and waiter were very efficient, and kind. We were not so hungry, so we only ordered some hot wings and a couple of drinks. The wings were good and well cooked, but, and here is my problem with this place, they served me the worst Bloody Mary I've ever... plus
This is a great Irish bar. Here's why...
The place is loud, crowded and fun. If you want a place that has good food, great beer selection, and a fun vibe, this is it.
Do they have amazing shrimp ceviche or escargots in white wine sauce? No.
Do the servers carefully explain a long memorized list of house specials while asking if you are comfortable with still or sparkling water before placing...

I admit the location is awesome (heart of old Quebec City) and a beer selection that could make even some of the top end bars jealous. Nicely decorated place with some friendly staff.
But this is where the good stuff ends. It is usually a packed place and finding a table can be challenging especially on busy evenings.
The worst part - beer prices. Yes, I expect higher prices because it has a...

Comfortable. Good Food. Steve the bartender is cool.
Steak and Frites and Frites with Truffles. Good music.
The beer prices are a total ripoff, it's twice the price it should cost. Not recommended.
We ended up here twice on vacation; once to warm up and get drinks and another time to watch the Super Bowl. Servers were nice, and the beer list (while long) was nothing too eye catching to me. When we had dinner, we had nachos with smoked meet- which was super weird, the worst wings EVER (they were shriveled!) and the fish and chips which were also just okay. The live music on the one night... plus
The best place we ate at in Old Quebec!
We stopped in here for dinner on our first night in town, and were pleasantly surprised. The beer selection is great, although pricey. I had the smoked meat linguine pasta and my boyfriend had the fish and chips-both were tasty, although his was better I think. I don't know if I'd order my dish again.
It had a great atmosphere, although it was quite...

The dinner started off well with a delicious onion soup. The pear and spinach salad that followed was cold, mushy, clumpy. My boyfriend's smoked-meat sandwich was equally terrible. The sauce on the side came in plastic solo cups. Not classy. The bread was not toasted, the smoked meat was not smoky, and we got upsold on a slice of rubbery cheese in the sandwich without being told that it cost... plus
Rip off tourist trap! Paid way more for a beer or spirit here than anywhere else in Quebec City. Forget it, there are better bars at lower prices. Strongly not recommended unless you enjoy throwing your money away
Stopped here after arriving in town for a late lunch. The outdoor patio was nice and seating was comfortable. They have a nice selection of beer on tap and service was good but not great. I had some french onion soup and my wife tried a salad. We also split some frites. Nothing was terrible but nothing was memorable either.
Ask the price of the beer!!!! They like to rob their customers.
Ordered new beer, 17$ - I can buy this same beer
at the LCBO for $5. No excuse for this kind of business practice. Welcome to old Quebec City.
If you're looking for lots of choices for a cold beer and excellent food, here is the spot for you! I had one of the best meals I've ever had here. A traditional Montreal smoked meat sandwich with coleslaw and fries. My husband had the steak and fries, served with an amazing gravy. It was excellent!! The beer list was extensive and contained choices from around the world. The service was prompt... plus
Awesome selection of beers!
Rip-off tourist pricing!! $10 for a the low-end Molson??! $16 for a regular Trappist? F-that!
The blues musician made this place worth visiting. The service was a little slow and the bartender gave me the wrong change. She even tried to convince me she gave the right change before agreeing with my math and giving me what was owned. I guess she figures so people won't count coins. A pint was $9.50 and single bottles go for more. I'd go again if they had the only live music that night.
great food for a bar. good music as well and the service was excellent.
they offer a great choice of beers, bottled and op draft. cant go wrong in this place.
Really cute place with a good pub vibe. Had a really excellent chicken sandwich with mango/chipotle dressing. Very solid lunch and friendly staff. Thank you!
Great place to visit for local beer (as well as beers around the world) and fabulous nachos. We stopped by for an afternoon snack and stayed to listen to live music. The staff was very helpful guiding us through the large selection of local craft beers. We had such a great time we went back the following evening to listen to live music again. This is a defiant must to anyone who likes craft... plus
I think this is a 3-star bar whose location kicks it up to a 4-star rating. The food is above average, but you better cherish every bite because you'll have to pay dearly for it.
There's a very good beer selection and the atmosphere is a lot of fun, especially at night. There are usually good bands or musicians on the weekends, and enough of a crowd to make it easy to meet people and shar a...

Great location, authentic pub-style interior, decent live music and good beer selection. I visit Pub St. Alexandre every time I am in Quebec.
However - it gets very crowded in the evenings. The patrons are always civil, but they pack so many people that even if you manage to get a table you will have no room. The prices are high ($9 beers and $17 sandwiches). The food is acceptable pub fare,...

Subpar. We were craving a casual dinner and drinks the night before New Years Eve. Our concierge recommended several spots, including this one. From the outside, it appeared cozy, like a fun spot in a cold night in Quebec, hockey on flat screens, a singer songwriter performing on an acoustic guitar. We sat on the third floor. I placed my drink order "Negroni", my husband looked at me like I was... plus
Great location. Great service my waitress was very friendly. Great selection of beer and good live music. Abit expensive but worth it
for a pub in a tourist area of Quebec City, it's a great spot. great beer selection on tap, some of the best fish and chips I've had north of the border, and warm inviting service. live music is also a treat.
I needed a beer. This place has a HUGE selection of beer. A match made in heaven, right? Well... Almost.
We stopped in for a pre-dinner pint and had a great time hanging out in a cozy booth up on the second level. The beers were massively overpriced, but given the tourist-friendly location I suppose that wasn't much of a surprise. Despite the prices, we enjoyed the beer selection so much we...

The service was good.
Wow was it expensive for what you got. We like trying local beers the beers were $9 a bottle ... a 355ml bottle and the nachos we had were a crazy price too. Felt like a tourist trap. If you want to try good local beer at a reasonable price try- La Korrigane, La Barberie or L'inox
Gord and I had supper last evening at Pub Saint-Alexandre.
There were a couple guys playing inside ... they were good.
We sat on the patio.
We both ordered a smoked meat sandwich. Though it was good, it wasn't worth $16.95. We found the prices high here for the food and drinks.
Our server was Melissa and she took good care of us.
This was a lovely pub we came across when we arrived in Quebec City after a long drive through the snow from Montreal. There was a lively jazz band playing when we walked in and almost a full house. We snagged two bar stools and tossed back a couple of pints and chatted up with some folks seated next to us that were the only other non-French speaking patrons in the pub! The entire pub had a... plus
We came across this bar after a three hour drive from Montreal and a lengthy walking tour of the nearby Citadel. Perfect place to rest and have a beer or two.
The beer selection is extensive. It seems like they have hundreds to choose from. Don't remember what I decided on, but it was good. They also had a two piece jazz duo playing, which was nice and relaxing after a long day of driving and...

After wandering around town to a place to plant our buttocks and fill our empty tummies, we stumbled upon this pub. Friendly staff with a live band for entertainment.
This is the first time I paid $9.25 for a glass of Stella. Makes me wonder how much a bottle of Delirium would be in Quebec City.
After perusing thru the menu, I decided on fish: Savoureux Pavé de Saumon du Nouveau Brunswick à...

After walking in the freezing cold for a few hours, my travel companions and I needed to rest our feet, thaw out, and eat and drink to replenish ourselves. We came to Saint-Alexandre on the recommendation of our B&B host, and were impressed by the selection of beer on tap and in the bottle. I ordered the french onion soup since I was still pretty full from lunch, and was happy with its rich... plus
Great list of bottled beers, especially if you like Belgians. Draft list is a bit more limited but pretty good. Prices can be a little steep though. I do wish they had more stouts or porters but maybe they rotate their offerings? They do a good bit of live music and the place can get pretty packed at least when we've been there during Winter Carnaval. I've eaten here a few years ago too I... plus
Le Pub Saint-Alexandre was our "go to" pub in Vieux-Québec -- mostly because it was extremely cold on our visit, and this was the first pub we stumbled upon. However, the incredible beer list kept us coming back. Saint-Alexandre has a decent set of taps and a bottle list with over 200 offerings in both small and large format bottles. The pub also offers live music (mostly soft jazz blues),... plus
Great selection of beers, local and imported, including 1 gluten free beer. We were disappointed to find out that they do not offer pitcher. One of my friends ended up paying $18 (before taxes) for 2 beers.
The food were ok and the portions were quite small. The baked potato was bigger than the steak. The salmon pizza with goat cheese was interesting, but not for everyone. They do serve good...

Used to be a big fan... but not anymore.
The service is not as good as it used to be.
The food is horrible.
Be careful if there's a band playing... They usually play so loud that you can't have any conversation.
The beer menu still pretty impressive though. Tons of beers from all around the world (mostly Belgium). Forget about Heineken or Guinness, try something exotic but be prepared cause...

The Alexandre pub does indeed have an great beer menu. The food is far from "Brit" fair, in fact you would be challenged to find any items on a British Pub Menu. The menu does not contain items like cornish pasties, ploughmans, or shepards pie.
Most "British Pubs" allow minors in, who must leave before 9pm. We tried to stop for lunch with one minor (16) and the other child (18) and were not...

Lots of beer, not many on tap (boo). To be honest, the waitstaff was my favorite part of being there - super attentive and personable.
I popped in here on a recent trip to QC. The place has a great feel to it. The layout of the first floor is wonderful, something for everyone.
I sat at the bar on a Saturday night (lucky to get a seat.) They had very good live music on stage. I didn't stay long (one drink) because I was kind of worn out from walking and just wanted a night cap.
Cool place, I'd go back!
Fairly lively (considering everyone was sitting down and quiet-- Oh Canada!) we headed in and caught the odd free table on the second level just above the stage. Blue musician gave a shout out to Americans (of which we were the only ones) which was slightly weird when all attention was focused on us who were seemingly in balcony seats. It was mostly a couples or set of couples crowd, there were... plus
Best bang for your buck in Quebec. I ordered the cheap chicken sandwich meal and I swear I could have made it into two meals. The mains come with fries AND salad (which I appreciated since it's always sad to choose between the two).
We'd just missed the live band but it was okay. We had plenty of entertainment watching two severely drunk dudes trying to hold each other up at the other table.

One of the best place in Quebec for drinking beer ! Almost 100 kind of different beer and some nice meals at affordable price ! Take a try !
Most of the staff we met was wonderful, and the food was good and reasonably priced (something we didn't always find in Quebec). Certainly a Pub atmosphere, but keeping in mind the name you should come to that conclusion on your own anyway.
Try the Steak and Kidney Pie. We thoroughly enjoyed it... On two occasions. Try with a Leffe Brune... Or Maudite if you're surging with Canadian pride.

I'm not much of a beer drinker, but a colleague brought me to this place. They have an interesting collection of beers including some brewed by Trappist monks from Belgium available on tap. The live music was OK. Quite noisy and crowded, but I guess that's how bars tend to be.
I'm not quite sure why the St Alexandre describes itself as an "Authentic English Pub" but it certainly is an authentic pub, and one that would fit just as easily in any European city as it does here in Vieux Quebec. The feeling of "authenticity" comes more from the fact that this is a pleasant pub to drop in for a beer and soak up the local atmosphere - and they certainly take their beers... plus
Yet another pub in Québec's old town that I can really recommend. This one is pretty crowded at night and the crowd is really international - I heard like 5 different languages when I was there. This might mean that it's basically a tourist place, but nonetheless I was very satisfied.
Favorite Dish: I enjoyed a great pasta dish (all' Arrabiata)
Just down the street from the Irish Pub Saint-Patrick is the English Pub Saint-Alexandre, owned by the same family. Pub Saint-Alexandre is a very nice pub, richly decorated and yet not the least pretentious. People of all ages gather at the pub to eat, drink and catch a live band. Food is good and not expensive (don't miss the chicken supreme in a beer and maple sirup sauce!), they've got a... plus
After a brief wander around Vieux Quebec during our first afternoon in the city, we stumbled upon the Pub St. Alexandre by chance. It looked inviting and was only moderately busy at just before 5 PM local time on a Thursday, so we went in and found ourselves a seat in an elevated back corner area. The longer we sat there enjoying our first round of drinks, the more relaxed we became with the... plus
From our previous experience at Pub St. Alexandre, we decided we would be wise to call ahead with a reservation for 6 PM. Sure enough, when we arrived things were starting to pick up, because this was now a Friday night! This time we were sat down at a proper table for our meal and had a great time talking and watching the activities while we waited for our food order. The photo shows their bar... plus
Very beautiful place to hang out and spend lot of money. A little
bit on the snubbish sice, but the food is very good, and the atmosphere
is relaxing.
Pub St-Alexandre is an authentic english-style pub.
Even thougth they can't properly pour a Guiness (The irish reading this will understand) this is a great place to drink any of the 200 bottled beers in a great atmosphere. Sit at the bar, relax and I'm sure you'll have a great time chatting away with the staff (well..we did anyways) It's extremely clean for a bar tought..well to my standars,...
