I know the food is kind of mediocre and the waitress is a bit spacey, but I say it's still worth it. For one thing, the Russian Tea is great. (Make sure to have it with cream on the side.) Their standard house tea is only slightly smoky, not overdone like Russian Caravan served in the States. The Russian tea... more
I learned that if you don't connect with your psychic you need to leave the table asap, instead of listening to their bs. Then, you don't have to pay that psychic. I had to pay $80 to a lady who had no clue what she was talking about!
I wanted to go with 3 friends for dinner and a reading of some sort to celebrate a birthday. The readings were really quick (10 min for $22) and the girls did not feel comfortable to stay and eat. The restaurant needs a make over and more information readily available. The website should be updated to explain how the readings... more
The food was very average and I didn't particularly enjoy the tea-leaf reading. It was very superficial as it could have related to anyone.
My Girlfriend of 6 years went there with Friends in April, shortly after their reading she stopped talking to me for the remainder of time she was in Edmonton. Later I was told that the tarot card lady named Chantel told her I was either currently being unfaithful to her and if I was not currently being unfaithful, I would... more
I decided to take my date here upon her request. The attractive woman i saw was seated up at the front with a buddha on her desk and she was surprisingly accurate with me. I must state I was quite the skeptic and she astonished me with her detailed description about my life.
The cake we shared was okay, the...

Although right on Jasper Avenue, this large restaurant has an unhurried feel to it. Menu was broad, food was good and prices were decent. For those who dabble you can also get your cards or tea leaves read!
I went to the Russian Tea room a week ago with a couple of friends. I had arrived first and was deciding what to order. I was a little surprised when a young girl came up to me and asked me to sponsor her for a 24hr fast at her school. I'm guessing she is a family member of the... more
I think it's funny that people even rate the food at the Russia tea room. It is as deplorable as everyone says. But as a local everyon knows the only reason one would even order food would be while waiting for their tarot cards or tea leaves to be read. Even if you don't believe it is a great weekend... more
The food was not very appetizing but that was not why I went. I went to have my Tarot cards and palm read. I was very impressed, the lady that read for me was very accurate, amazingly so. The things she said were not vague, they were quite specific to past and present. I would recommend giving it a try,... more
Has completely changed from Russian to a Chinese/Western hybrid. Have not tried the regular menu. The desserts, which used to be the main attraction, are truly awful. My 6-year-old stepdaughter wouldn't eat her chocolate cake... imagine that!
walked by many times and kept thinking i wanted to try it...i should have kept walking. it really was deplorable. from the tasteless, uneventful food to the two waitresses who we had to hunt down for coffee refills. the hashbrowns that they served with the horrible beef dip were like eating sawdust. i heard the potatoe salad wasn't too bad... more
not how it used to be back in the day
How do you say "Terrible" in Russian?
Don't really remember the food but they do awesome Tea leaf readings.
Great smoked salmon bagel and they offer palm/tea leaf/tarot readings from a number of psychics. A little over priced for the fortune tellers if you ask me, but my cousin thinks it was well worth it. The problem is that you don't get to pick your fortune teller, and hers turned out to be more accurate than mine. Still a... more
Good place to get your tarot cards read. If you have to use their washrooms though, it's kind of freaky because they're way down in the basement.
It's definitely not the place it once was, I was rather disappointed the last time I visited. The charm didn't seem to be there under the new management. Maybe they were just getting started. The food I had for lunch that day was obviously frozen before. I'd rather have fresh, made at the site, food when I visit.
Casual and inviting, this eatery specializes in Eastern European fare. For an authentic taste of the region, sample the borscht or the goulash. Sandwiches, burgers, and quiche are available if you want something standard, but look to the hot entrees for a real treat. There, you'll find a rich beef stroganoff, well-filled chicken crêpes, pierogies, and even fettuccine Moscow. The house... more
