Great service, cool atmosphere and tangines and stews that were perfect even on a nice summer evening. We chose to sit indoors but the outdoor space looked inviting.

This restaurant is lovely. Beautifully decorated with both indoor and outdoor options. Accessible on a corner on Rue Hutchinson, this restaurant brings va-va-voom to its dishes.

Best time to go is when it's not too crowded (avoid weekends) so you enjoy the ambiance and the music. Perfect if you like Sufi tradition and the food of the different regions where Sufism spread (Iraq/Iran/middle East, etc). Rumis is offering Middle Eastern / North African food in an amazing setting. The authentic decoration creates a lifely, charming atmosphere. Difficult to choose from the variety of typical dishes from the various Middle Eastern / North African countries; and the food is simply delicious.

Wonderful Persian food

Truly Disappointing

Went there on a Friday night, crowded, atmosphere was good, pleasant waitress. Food, not so much. It's obvious that the food is 'white-washed', as it is clearly not traditional Middle Eastern food. A very unique menu inspired by the middle eastern and central asia cuisine. The flavors are delicious. The meat was very well cooked and tasteful. The restaurant looks very nice and exotic. Excellent food

I had Djaj Meshwy, naan, and the coconut sorbet. Everything was fantastic. They had a menu in English and our server spoke English. Everyone there was very nice. No complaints!

Really good food, and a nice atmosphere

I went there for valentines day and was happy of my choice.
Food was very good, ingredients all very fresh. The ambiance was nice. Service was impressive too.

Excellent Food and Moroccan Mint Tea

I had the Falafel and it was the best I ever had. We noticed that every single table had a teapot of the Moroccan Mint tea so we decided to try it, and so glad that we did, fresh mint leaves and such a great flavor. We loved it so much that we went back the next day for lunch... plus

Amazing food, ambiance and location

This is my favourite restaurant in Montreal. It is located in a very serene neighbouhood of Mile End. The food is Moroccan inspired and bisap is my favourite drink.

Disappointing

We arrived for a Saturday night dinner really looking forward to it. The meze starters were good, really zingy fresh flavours, but it was downhill from there. I was brought the wrong food and ended up with a veggie option. My main was bland and stodgy and my wife's chicken was dry and verging on inedible. The service was poor... plus

Perfect transformation of oriental food in canadian style

The variety of food and tastes is excelent.
They have combined preshian, arabic & turkish food in a smart way that is not too oriental but at same time reminds you many dishes you have tried in those countries.
Their black cardamon tea & the cardamon choclate cake was excelent.

from the appetizers to the mains to the mint tea finish, rumi is a reliable restaurant when we don't want to venture too far or try something new.
yes it is pricey, but all the dishes are savory. the nan bread, the homemade dipping sauces and the fall off the bone meat is to die for.

One of a kind in Montreal, good food, though overpriced

Two Quebecois guys get into Sufism, they go to where the whole thing originated, go through the region, spend some time in the hometown of Mevlana; Konya, Turkey... They study the cuisine over there, come back to Montreal, and implement the philosophy as well as the rich cuisine over here. Good start-up story for sure.

Family Friendly, great pot of tea

I visited here with my husband and 3 upper elementary children who have eaten Turkish food in Turkey. I wouldn't describe the grill as Turkish, more Moroccan. It was fun for us because we eat Turkish every Thanksgiving whether we are in Berlin, Salzburg or Rome.

Impressive, even to a Montrealer

This eclectic restaurant in Outremont is great place for good grilled meats. They describe their influence as tastes taken from the silk road.
