Large suites, great rates, a handy location, and a friendly staff keep couples, families, and bus tours coming back to this well-run James Bay hotel—the games room, pool table, indoor pool, hot tub, laundry room, and small grocery store make this an especially good choice. The interior is old-fashioned, but it's freshly upholstered and well maintained. The grounds, including a restaurant... more
A block from the Inner Harbour, the Royal Scot provides friendly service and good value, particularly if you opt for a studio or one-bedroom suite. Originally an apartment building, the rooms are larger than average. Each studio suite has a divider separating the bedroom from the living room, while one-bedroom suites have separate bedrooms. All suites have lots of closet space, fully equipped... more
Customer service was amazing, especially for the price that we paid. They offer shuttle service to and from anywhere downtown. The indoor jacuzzi and pool are also a plus! Rooms can accommodate 2-4 guests very comfortably. The only concern is found was the lack of AC in the rooms. I would imagine there is not much need for this on a typical day in Victoria, but it got pretty warm outside after... more
Very nice hotel with great restaurant. We had a suite with nice amenities in the kitchen. Good location and very nice staff.
Good location, big suite room(we got a free upgrade to a one bedroom suite), bathroom is a little small, but it's fine to use. Free wifi, parking is a little bit expensive. Have lots of fun rooms at Level B. My boy loves their swimming pool. Walking distance to major city center sightseeing.
Stayed here two nights while in Victoria to cycle the local area. Great suite! Clean and quiet with a well equipped kitchen and comfy living room area. The staff were friendly and helpful. We liked being slightly away from the busy tourist area and didn't mind walking to dinner. Umm.. Adorbs. A place where 'game room' means actual board games. Love, love, love.
Quaint and kitschy simultaneously, in walking distance many local attractions. Will be back for sure.

We love this place, it is our 4th Annual Christmas trip. Royal. Scot is by far the best hotel we have stayed in Victoria and most other places. They are extremely gracious and family friendly. The rooms and public areas are clean and well maintained. Ey definitely cater to their guests!
I won't forget my journey in here! thanks nice hotel!
We come to Victoria often and wanted to love this hotel. Its location is great and the rooms were very clean and well stocked. However, on arrival we were told the elevator wasn't working and the pool was under renovation so we'd have to use the pool across the street. Its was december in the middle if a cold snap and with 2 children this wasnt going to be sn option for us. This was... more
just as the title says, it was great value for the price
Staff was very friendly and helpful. Gave us an upgrade to larger suite and went out of their way to make our stay a good one. The pool was being serviced and they gave us a pass for the hotel pool across the street.
Awesome location, amazing staff. A great overall experience for the money.
After knee surgery used as stopover between hospital and home.
Overall this is a very good hotel. The location is ideal for downtown access, as well as the parliament buildings, Empress Hotel, Beacon Hill Park, and Royal BC Museum.
So comfortable amzing staff and facilities, the best part: the hotel suttle, a major plus
Great location.Close to harbour and downtown without being on a busy street. Rooms perhaps a bit dated but immacute with great bed, kitchen facilities and sitting room.
Nothing ostentatious, just good value and good quality. A true "Scottish" delight. Good rate, nice rooms, a lovely stay!
Great experience - older, but nice suites. Very quiet, we all slept well. And the location is perfect for walking right from the ferry or to some great tourist spots in Victoria.
Helpful staff, checked our bags, and the shuttle is very convenient.
We will be back.
Staying here for the first time and don't think I'll bother going anywhere else in Victoria! Location can't be beat, only about a block from the whole harbour area and parliament buildings. Rooms are big fresh and clean with a full kitchen. The service was courteous and friendly and we arrived 2 hrs before check in time and were able to get our rooms straight away!

Loved this place!
Biggest criticism was that their sheets aren't very nice- they're sort of rough and scratchy. And it would be great if they would somehow not allow anyone under the age of 18 into the pool area after 9pm- after a long day, annoying shouting children are the worst.
The location is fantastic, and the price is pretty low considering how close it is to downtown and a bunch of...

In July 2009 we stayed one night in this hotel. Room was ok. Balcony was 10 Dollars (Plus Tax) more, which was not worth it. Parking also was extra (plus Tax), do not remeber how much. No breakfast included in standard rates.
Lobby is small but people at the front desk are friendly and helpful. Hotel is located 2 minutes walking from downtown and in a quiet little street.
Clean rooms with 1 queen bed & a futon, and a small kitchen!
Bathroom is small.
They have made a partitioned wall in between the room.
Great service. Centrally located in Victoria Island, close to the historic sites and downtown. They have pool and laundry service as well.
We stayed here for 3 days.
Will always come back when ever I am in Victoria next.
The Royal Scot has my "Big Three" in hotel criteria; Great Staff, Great Location, and Great Rooms. We found the beds superb, & the rooms airy and well-ventilated ( a rarity in... more

My sister and I spent a weekend at the Royal Scot last November and were very happy with our stay. We had a very nice stay at the Royal Scot on a summer trip to Victoria. The location is great and close to many downtown attractions. Excellent hotel within easy walking distance of inner harbor, parliament and BC Museum. The rooms were older but perfectly well maintained and clean, the staff was friendly and helpful. We were a group of 11, and they both had space and gave us a discount. Parking was free and there was plenty of space. Besides, their mascot is a kilt-wearing polar bear. We would stay here again.
Great hotel, wonderful with the kids. Amazing service and clean. It's not the Fairmont Empress, but it is a very good deal for the price. Everything was neat, comfortable, tidy, and the staff was pleasant. The pool is very nice. We will definitely stay here again!
Quiet -- but close , full services in hotel ,
Sloppy housekeeping, not willing to discuss room and price alternatives
-in a half empty hotel
- location is great
- games room, pool, hot tub and fitness centre
- cookies with room cleaning
- a bit dated
- inconsistent maid service - on multiple occasions we had to request they service our room
kitchen, french doors, parking on sight, restaurant, location, quiet, gift shop, polar bear in a kilt, living room, good water pressure, all the staff are friendly and nice,
bed is not soft, no shower cap,
Great location, free upgrade to a spacious room, friendly staff
Nothing
great location, friendly staff, clean, large room, quiet
oldfashioned furniture, not too many tv channels, unfortunately no breakfast included, but these are just minor things, overall nothing really to complain about
Clean, spacious, great beds, good linens
The additional cost for parking seemed excessive.
I found the experience at the Royal Scott, very relaxing and the room most pleasant. The staff were courteous and professional with a desire to be helpful. I would not hesitate recommending this hotel to others
Location. Price.
Kitchen facilities.
Maintenance sweeping and washing the sidewalks at 3:00 A.M. every day right under our second floor window!
I have stayed at the Royal Scot many times and have always been impressed with the friendliness of the staff, the cleanliness of the rooms and it's great location. I hope to return many more times when I visit Victoria!
The room was great and the staff were very helpful.
The mattress on the bed was a bit hard for me.
Superb location. Reasonable rates. Kitchenette was fully equipped
A little "dated", but so's my home! Paying for parking.
Location
The kilted bear at the main entrance is naff. Coming from Scotland we
nearly did not book in when we saw it on the Internet. In real life it
looked worse.
Friendly staff, good food, nice room.
Very noisy neighbour late at night.
Clean, friendly,economical
pool area closed for maintenance
Staff was amazing! Extremely pleased with the hotel overall. We had booked a regular guestroom but were very surprised and happy to be upgraded to a luxury one-bedroom suite at no additional charge!
the hotel staff were wonderfully cheerful
used to having an air conditioner in hotel rooms so this was a surprise - got a bit warm during the night
Good swimming pool, very helpful staff, upgraded from room to a suite
Decor a little dated, otherwise very little.
Just an excellent hotel, friendly staff, good location. Got a free upgrade to a suite which is always nice!
Location and suite style accommodation
(Initially) the smell - it smelled 'old'
Excellent facility. Well appointed room, very clean and nice amenities.
Excellent location
Relaxing
Pleasant atmosphere
Friendly & helpful staff
Quiet
Efficient
The suite was a little stuffy and too warm.
Great location
The room was ''tired'' looking.
As a guest, I did not like the $15 charge, per day for parking, when I am already paying $150 a night for the room.(not to mention the taxes on top of that)
The food in Jonathan's was excellent and the piped music wasn't too loud! The staff were helpful, especially at the reception desk
It was a lovely old fashioned type of hotel. Very close to the town centre of Victoria. Would definitely stay there again. It was over $200 a night so a bit pricey and no breakfast.
Room well equipped and confortable
The restaurant closed too early
The room was clean and well
appointed with a pleasant
atmosphere.
The room was terribly noisy due
to an equipment room next door with heavy machinery starting up every 10 minutes - all night long.
Only 2 hours sleep that night.
Stay away from Room 152 !!!
Very friendly staff, especially George and his crew in the dinning room. Lovely large rooms, well appointed.
The in-room coffee left a little to be desired. Prefer the Globe and Mail newspaper to The National Post, as I believe is common.
Really really like this hotel. We had a great time playing in victoria. Hope this hotel can become bigger and bigger:)
Locations was great, close to the main attractions. Grocery store few blocks down the road. The room with kitchen was a great option.
The sofa bed was not very comfortable
This Staff was friendly, professional and helpful to our needs.
Especially greatful for retrieving my wifes passport left in room safe.
Rooms a bit small, but considering the age of the hotel it
mattered little.
Our stay was very comfortable. The staff are very gracious and friendly. The food service in Jonathan's Restaurant is outstanding.
The staff was very friendly and helpful.
At approximately 5:30 AM, a large truck arrived in the parking lot directly below our room and proceeded to spray the trees adjacent to the parking lot. This was extremely noisy and we were wondering why it had to be done at that unreasonalbe hour.
This was our second stay at this hotel, location is great , very quiet ,good parking , the room was large with fridge ,toaster, dishes etc, even dish washing liquid . Very good value and comfortable .
I have stayed many times at the Royal Scot......the reasons being all excellent.
The pool was ok.
Stuffy rooms, inadequate bedding, overpriced, lousy location, charges
for parking, dated decor.
Great hotel within walking distance to Victoria Inner Harbor. Friendly staff, nice, comfortable rooms.
Additional $15 per night for parking on site is expensive, given the price of the rooms. There are more reasonable parking options on the street or nearby; however, because we have someone traveling with us that has mobility issues, we didn't have a choice. Also, rooms do not have air...

The only reason it's not getting 5 stars is because the building is a little older, and the pipes made weird noises at night (my husband and I swore it sounded like an electric guitar through an amplifier).
We originally paid for the cheapest room, but were upgraded to a suite for free so we ended...

The Royal Scot is nice, decently priced, quiet, clean, smells fine, and very close to Clipper and COHO docks. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
The game rooms in the basement are a nice touch. The swimming pool is nice, though noisy when there are a lot of people. There's a sauna in the locker room, another nice touch.
The suite rooms are spacious, beds are OK but not bad, and the...

Our room was very small, but very clean and comfortable. Shower with all you need, LCD TV with a lot of channels, and free wireless. The location is great, you are less than a block away from the city hall (or the legislative building I think is called, the nice big old building =] ) Staff was very friendly and helpful. It also has indoor pool, a games room, and a billiards room, where you can... more
I would stay there again. The staff were great, and the room was much larger than I had expected.
“ My family and I returned to this excellently located hotel year after year for weekend getaways. The rooms are large, clean and quiet. The staff is always attentive, courteous and helpful. I would recommend this hotel to families and business travelers. ”
Staff were very courteous, the room very clean. The location is ideal - walking distance to everything we needed. Our expectations were definitely met.
The hotel is in a great location and great value. The rooms are big and comfy. Great large TV in living room area.
My partner and I stayed at the Royal Scot for a week end. We love it! The location is perfect, only a few step from the legislature, the room was really big and comfortable and the staff was very nice. We have had breakfast at the restaurant and the prices were really affordable and the food was good. I would recommend the Royals Scot for your stay in Victoria.
“Royal Scot is a comfortable hotel close to the waterfront and attractions of downtown Victoria. Its location one block off the main street provides a quiet environment that is a very short walk from the Black Ball ferry dock. The staff is very friendly and helpful, quickly addressing questions and requests for service. They were very kind to store our bags for several hours both before check... more
This would be a great place to stay if you planned on getting food and stuff to make while you are vacationing. If you are into trying little "hidden gems" it is kind of a hike to the specific locations.

The Royal Scot Hotel was a beautiful hotel, unfortuately we did not get to enjoy the nice rooms in the main part of the hotel. We were given the only room that had an outside entrance. The room was smaller than our friends and the water in the shower did not work very well. The was very little water coming out I was very dissappointed in our room considering we paid the same amount as the other... more
Pretty decent. Find it cheap and realize you are a expect a little walk to the great restaurant and coffee areas.
Very close to the uber-touristy junk around the harbor, and in the right direction to get you to the park and beaches.
This not so little hotel is located in downtown Victoria, BC. It's about 1 block away from the marina. The Royal Scot is within walking distance of everything you want to do in downtown Victoria. We paid about $122 per night, which for the area isn't too bad considering the location.
It's defintiely an older hotel, not ancient, but it is well maintained. The rooms were clean and decent sized....

This is a quiet, clean, well kept property. Located in a quiet neighborhood with reasonable prices. It is a little old but well maintained. Would definitely return again.
A relatively well priced online deal and a roof over our heads with what is undoubtedly the busiest weekend in Victoria's history (little did I know it was the Victoria Marathon) landed me in Victoria this past Thanksgiving weekend. There to explore the sights, by which I am actually referring to as shopping and eating, all I was really looking for was a clean, warm and quiet place to rest my... more
My friends and I went to Victoria for the Royal Victoria Marathon. The Royal Scot was perfectly located only 2 blocks from the start/finish line and 2 blocks from our ferry. The staff was very kind and knowledgeable. Our room was very spacious and came with a full kitchen and fridge. The check out time of 12noon provided us with plenty of time to come back to the hotel after the race to shower... more
I stayed at the Royal Scot for just one night as a sorta layover from Vancouver to Port Angeles, WA. The location of the hotel is fantastic, as others have said, it's so close to the Black Ball Ferry line and it's a nice walk to the downtown area which was pretty cool since I only had one day to check out Victoria.
I think I would have enjoyed my stay if I had a better room. That's probably my...

This is a great hotel! Great service, great room, great location.
Only a couple blocks away from where we disembarked the Victoria Clipper and a scenic walk into downtown.
I had won a weekend package, so I can't say much about the price (free is always a great price!), but a quick glance at their website and I can tell you the price is great for the location and for what you get. We had a...

A wonderful find in Victoria! This hotel, where we had a regular room without a kitchen, was significantly less expensive than other comparable rooms. Our room was large, very comfortable, and immaculate. The staff was exceptionally helpful about everything.
The temperature was a bit warm, but with outside temps at 68 or so, it didn't bother us. The location is great as well.
Oh, where to start. We stayed in a one-bedroom suite here, and it was probably the best rooming experience we had on our week-and-a-half long Vancouver / Victoria / Seattle trip. The staff is extremely helpful here, and little touches around the room like leaving a cookie for the kids and having a large assortment of cookware around the kitchen for us to use were much appreciated.

The Royal Scot Hotel has an excellent location and excellent service. Travelers receive 4* service at a very reasonable price. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly. The free shuttle is a valuable feature. I would highly encourage friends to stay here.
My husband and I stayed at the Royal Scot due to it's location near the harbor and because we obtained a very good rate. Hotel is dated but immaculate. Our room wasn't ready, even at 4:00, but they did give us a different one.The room was large and comfortable. Their shuttle is great, we took it to dinner one night, to see the castle another day. Victoria is a rather spendy city so I feel we... more
My stay was short at the Royal Scott Hotel, but it was a most pleasant experience. The front desk called every whale tour operator until they found an opening and shuttled me to the location with their courtesey shuttle service in a very prompt and courteous manner.
